    Fried fish to go!
    Lawrence C.

I smelled the same odor that Freeyah experienced but persisted with our order. Spouse's catfish was filleted well, my Porgie was partially deboned, mom's Whiting was the tastiest with what seemed to be 6 or more fillets. The Whiting is the tastiest. My brother enjoyed his shrimp. Convenient place. Take out only. The peas and rice are a little salty. Good little fish fry place

SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL!!! If you ever call to place an order here, BLOCK YOUR PHONE NUMBER!!!! I called made an order for pick up On the phone, The owner (tall guy) greeted me by calling me by my first Name-which I NEVER told him- as if we were "bubbies", and I did state "that's very Awkward" He later CALLS me back playing on my phone trying to FLIRT! SO DISGUSTING!!! I Would NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT PLACE EVER AGAIN! That guy is super Creepy!!

Talk about a hidden gem and getting a bang for your buck. I was so happy when I discovered this place, who doesn't love a good fish fry. Not to mention the prices are impeccable- $15 for shrimp, fried porgy and French fries. That is a pretty good deal for me. Con: the hours are a little wacky, I wish this place opened later and on Sunday's!

The best fish spot in the area hands down. Fish and chips are popular and POPPING!! I've been coming here for over 17 years and even the soul food they serve on Fridays is on point. I've been meaning to have them cook me up some salmon. Adding that to my list of items to get!!

Fresh oysters from Duncan's that I shucked at home! $1 an oyster. Can't beat the quality, taste or price.

Duncan's has the BEST selection of fresh fish. I live in the area and we have lots of grocery stores but this is my go-to spot for fresh salmon, cod, branzino, clams, shrimp, oysters you name it! With fresh deliveries daily. They also have a kitchen to cook meals; fish and chips etc. But I haven't gotten around to that yet!

Have been coming to this seafood spot for years 2009 to be exact. The food (oil) then I must admit used to sit on my stomach. But for the past 4 years the food has made a turn for the Better. It's more flavorful and tender. I usually order the same food from here although they also offer soul food and have a raw seafood section where you can buy from the pound. I tend to order the same thing though Fried Whiting + Jumbo Fried Shrimp + Fries TOTAL = $ 11.69

Their prices are noticeably more expensive than other places but no one should compromise when it comes to eating seafood. As someone who has had food poisoning a few times, I like to subscribe to this mindset. From Swordfish and Tuna to Shellfish and Filets, I was told they make the trek to Fulton Fish Market (in Hunt's Point, the Bronx) daily. That's good to know. There's also a freezer packed with frozen selections such as Snow Crab legs and Calamari. I would like to see more varieties of fish ( like Skate and Monkfish) while envisioning an addition of upscale gourmet items/seafood accompaniments other than Soy and Teriyaki Sauce. If you want to be assured of eating fresh seafood knowing you're paying slightly more, check them out. (I bought two Branzini for $31).

In my opinion, there's nothing like a stand alone fish market (as opposed to those that have a little fish section in a gourmet shop) unless it's Fairway or a similar store. I absolutely adore seafood and it's also my favorite animal protein. I've been shopping here since forever and I really like their variety of seafood. There's even a sushi section (although I've never tried) that appears to be appealing and fresh. On my favorite food holiday--Christmas Eve--when the Italian (and my family) tradition is everything seafood (no less than 7), I always find myself shopping here. This market is very crowded around that time of the year. This store has fresh and frozen assortment of both shellfish and seafood. Mussels, clams, scallops, squid, shrimp, Branzino, trout, filet of sole, filet of trout, filet of whiting, sea bass, lump crab meat, king crab sticks, salmon, crab cakes and a lot more. I tend to stay away from Tilipia and Basa. You might notice at any fish market, it's the cheapest fish by the pound. And that's because it's imported from murky waters. At least that's what I've read and believe. In addition to a variety of seafood, there are various accompaniments & condiments such as cocktail sauces, Panko breadcrumbs, tarter sauce, fish fry batters, etc. I don't think they carry every variety of fish, but there's enough. And it's fresh. One thing to note---at times, they will sell out of certain fish. That's when you put plan B into place after the disappointment. BTW, I bought one pound of clean squid ringlets. I made a fresh sauce to accompany my squid ink pasta :) Good stuff here.

Nor can I get anyone who "does" the online service management or get relevant answers from the Contact Us link. Last night I got to the checkout, and then the site kept asking me for the order number. ??? That ended the order going through. Mohammed tried to help by doing it verbally over the phone but there were too many items to deal with. It had been a go-to-shop for me since it opened, but after an accident I can't easily go in-person and now apparently I can't shop there at all or find anyone who is responsible/helpful for the site's customer functionality.

What was once a family-owned, excellent grocery store run by wonderful people who cared is now a Key Food with a different name. I mean that literally; they were bought by Key Food during the pandemic, and they laid off all the employees (that we loved), brought in more self-checkout, and the quality of the produce has fallen off a cliff, while the prices have climbed to extortionist levels. For the most part, the replacement staff is quite nice and usually helpful (there are a couple bad apples that seem upset you need assistance). The guys behind the prepared food counter will do a solid job on your sandwich, and the cashiers are usually pleasant and almost always efficient. They still have a rewards program where if you spend around $250 and you get like $10 credit. (Hey, it's better than nothing.) The expansion of the store a few years back means they truly have just about everything, and the beer and ice cream selections are actually phenomenal (but overpriced). However, produce we buy is occasionally going bad already, and the prices are wildly out of control. I paid $7 for two onions last week. It becomes harder and harder to justify shopping here when it's more expensive than Fresh Direct, and vastly more pricey than the fruit and vegetable spots a few blocks away. I don't risk the meat and fish any longer (not with Paisanos and Fish Tales in the hood), although Bell & Evans chicken is quite reliable. Basically, Brooklyn Fare went from an incredible market to have across street to a last-resort for items I forgot to purchase elsewhere in the neighborhood, at reasonable prices. They know we're coming in when we need something, and we're going to pay for it. Despite these shortcomings, it's still great to have a corner store that has just about everything. I can still run out and grab some milk for my wife's cookies when I've finished the last drop and she looks particularly stabby. But it's going to cost $7 for half a gallon.
