After watching our friend Abe Fogle absolutely own the drums with his jazz band at the Roxy Hotel, we were hungry. Pies n Thighs is known for the fried chicken. Cool. Hubs can have all of it. Hubs had previously spotted out the only seafood option for me since I'm a pescatarian and it was a done deal. And baby... that catfish was not playing. As a staple in south east Williamsburg they don't exactly need the raves and the accolades, they are that good that consistency and quality keep them in the top of casual fun "sure thing" place to eat . Amazing! Got here at 10:15 and had no issue grabbing a table. The chicken biscuit was suggested, and I'm glad I tried it because it was delicious. Super crispy, well seasoned, and really satisfying. I wasn't the biggest fan of the wing, but the breast was amazing.The sides were a bit mixed for me. The greens were a little dry and didn't have much flavor But the dessert really surprised me in the best way. I found this place off of Reddit and I'm so glad that I came because the reviews alone on Yelp do not do this place justice. We came with a party of 3 Saturday night with no reservation but we were able to get a table near the window which was great. - Fried Chicken Box - One of the best fried chicken I've had in New York so far. The breading was incredibly light and airy while having a nice bite to it. The chicken was incredibly juicy and it almost felt like you were drinking chicken broth at some points. We ordered the Smoked Pork Collards for the side and this was great too. It didn't have a lot of pulled pork in it but the collards with its slight tang greatly counteracted the fattiness of the chicken. I didn't care much for the biscuit. - Chicken Sandwich - I appreciated the hot honey on the fried chicken as it gave it another dimension of flavor. We ended up just deconstructing this sandwich when we ate it. - Chicken & Waffles - Honestly if you're not a big fan of waffles, I would recommend just skipping this and getting the fried chicken box. The fried chicken type is the same essentially with the addition of waffles. I will say that the waffles were pretty good and I appreciate the chunks of blueberry fruit in the jam. - Sour Cherry Pear Pie - This was one great pie as I loved how the crust was a bit crumbly and not too sweet. It kind of reminded me of the pies you get at Whole Foods except the fruit is a lot larger and fresher. Would recommend to get this to share. THE WORST! I have ordered 3 times this month. They have gotten the order wrong 2 OUT OF 3 TIMES! The first order there was no cornbread so they said they would refund me, which never happened. Then, I ordered the Fried Chicken box today--cheating on my usually vegan and fish diet--and SPECIFICALLY asked for 2 drumsticks and a thigh.
