Came here with some girlfriends while in town. Been wanting to try it for a while and I'm happy I finally got to. The wait was about an hour as the place was slammed on a Saturday morning. We ordered coffee at the little cafe on the side and waited outside for our table. Once we were seated our waiter came over and asked if we were ready to order. I hadn't even looked at the menu yet. She was unfriendly and barely came over during our time there. I get the place is busy but as a server you can be friendly. Once we ordered we never saw her again, only when she told us the check is to be paid through the QR code. Anyways, to eat I ordered the Chug's Slam and then for the table we ordered the Cast Iron Pancake. The pancake was so good, not too sweet but hits the spot. It's not a pancake texture more like a cornbread or cake. The Chug's slam was good. The bacon was a little too thick for me but overall the flavors of the dish were good. I think next time I would get the salsa on the side though it was too much on my eggs for my personal preference. I would come back here and try more off their menu. And hopefully get a different server.
I love Chug's diner. Everything about what this restaurant delivers, feels like a hug to me. I've been a fan since Chug's 1.0 but this review is specifically for my recent visit where I tried one of their new specialty coffee drinks. The Chug's iced cafe con leche kept a number one spot of my favorite iced coffee in Miami for many years, and I think this weekend their new Coconut Vanilla Latte with cold foam has secured the number one spot in my iced latte roster. I take my iced latte choice seriously, as it is one of my favorite treats. This one was absolutely perfect. So good, in fact, that I ordered two! I also ordered the harina con huevo for breakfast. Now, there is something about harina con huevo that takes me back to childhood and reminds me of my mom, so this dish is pure nostalgia for me and it is delish. You can't really go wrong with Chug's. Since it opened, you won't ever find a breakfast time where it isn't busy. That's because they are doing something write - serving up good food and coffee, and if you're lucky tapping into moments of nostalgia for many of us born and raised Miami kids. In a city that is ever changing and growing, repping OG Miami is always appreciated by me. Oh and, their offering of 99 cent martinis throughout the week is also fire.
A very cute brunch spot that has a more modern and Cuban diner-style aesthetic. We went 1 hour before closing on a Monday so we were able to walk right in. The main reason we wanted to come is because we heard about their cast iron pancakes. This thing was huge!!! It could easily feed up to 3-4 people. While I'm not a huge pancake lover, I have to admit that this is a contender for the BEST pancake I've ever eaten. Because of how it is made in a cast iron skillet, you get this beautiful crisp outside but with all the fluffy pancake on the inside. In fact, the inside of the pancake was so moist and almost creamy-like that it reminded me of a cross between a pancake and cheesecake when it comes to texture. Absolutely a must order since it's so different and unique. I also got the Lechon Hash which was excellent too! It seemed like a humble hash, but digging through it, the flavors were savory and also a little sweet. I love the added dill on top as that added even more to the dish. The lechon was moist and flavorful too. Chug's diner is well worth a stop!
Great restaurant with a fantastic vibe! Chug's Diner offers a 100% enjoyable dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating, plus convenient street parking nearby. They have great coffee options, and we loved the cast-iron pancake topped with butter. The fried cheese and bacon were the perfect appetizers to share with the family. The burgers were definitely the stars of the lunch! The spicy ramen was super tasty, and while the crusted snapper was a little too crispy for my taste, the accompanying salad was amazing. My little daughter loved her kids' plate--the "Abuelita's Choice"--which came with rice, chicken, and beans. Everything here is wonderful, and its great location makes it a must-visit spot in Coconut Grove!
Amazing food, great ambiance, the only set back was the wait but my table recieved a free pancake for the extra long wait. Really great service!
Not bad! Cute old-school diner decor with a modern twist. The servers were nice and attentive. I have to be honest though...the pancakes are HYPED! I'm glad I tried them, but for me, they weren't worth the drive. I'd say it was worth experiencing once, but I don't feel the need to come back.
This place is such a cute spot for brunch, although I think I'm more interested in their regular breakfast menu more, the entrees were more interesting. They also have a martini deal, from Wednesday to Sunday 6-7pm. We had a sizable group, the restaurant has been super accommodating with the arrangement as well, and our server was very attentive. We shared the cast iron pancake as a group and had individual orders as well. I definitely ordered with my eyes with the lechon hash and duck croquetas before even diving into the pancake. I especially loved the croquetas, not a huge fan for the hash but that's a personal thing not liking potatoes that much. I was able to take in a bite of the pancake, which was very fluffy, the syrup was surprisingly not too sweet. I've tried their shaken espresso and a cortadito, both have been great. Strong, not too sweet, perfect for a humid summer day. I think that's the biggest surprise for me, I thought Cuban sweets would be much sweeter. My group has also raved about the breakfast sandwich and harino con huevo (especially if you're vegetarian).
My wife and I flew into Miami for a few days and are staying at a condo in Coconut Grove. Decided to take a stroll this morning for breakfast and see where I landed Chug's Diner is such a cool Coconut Grove spot. It has that classic diner feel, but with a really fun Miami/Cuban twist. The place has a lot of personality, and it's easy to see why it's earned Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. I went with the Greek yogurt topped with mango compote, trigo and cornflake granola, and it was excellent -- fresh, light, flavorful and just the right amount of sweetness. I have the server recommend one of their Cuban coffees and I'm glad I did because my boring American copies wasn't going to do it for me this morning Great atmosphere, friendly service and definitely a spot I'd return to next time I'm in Coconut Grove!
Finally got to try Chug's Diner after seeing it all over TikTok, and it did not disappoint! The pancakes were incredibly fluffy -- exactly what I hoped for. The carnitas dish was decent, and the guava dish was a nice surprise. I tried the breakfast sandwich with extra cheese, but it was a bit too cheesy for my taste -- however, the original breakfast sandwich is so, so good. Definitely worth the hype!
The cast iron pancake was not a pancake, it was a giant piece of corn bread. Parts of it had this weird bitter taste, not sure if that was the cast iron residue. We also had the avocado sandwich which was delicious. The bun, egg, avocado and giant fried cheese fit perfectly together, this dish saved my review.
I arrived at Chug's around 9:30-9:45 and was able to get a seat at the countertop. Just walking up to the counter top and seeing what everyone was eating I knew I was in for a treat. It was cute inside, it had a very welcoming vibe. I started off with the Mongolian Beef Pastelito. Loved it. It reminded me of a Chinese food Cuban fusion. I would get this again, but I'm really kicking myself for not trying the Guayaba y Queso Pastelito. The Malanga Latkes were AWESOME. It came with a guava apple sauce and a saizon sour cream. These are must get when you visit. Thank me later. The Bao con Croqueta was great. The kimchi slaw paired great with the ham and shrimp croqueta. I also loved that it was in a bao. I'd get this again, but I really want to try the Duck. And you know I had to get the Cast Iron Pancake. It's legit, it's not just a viral menu item. It was soft on the inside and soaked up the syrup, the outside had a nice crust on it. The flaked sea salt was a nice touch. I'm STILL thinking about this pancake and I'm upset that I don't live in Miami because I would have gone back the next day for this. LOVED IT and you will too. I tried my friends breakfast sandwich. I don't remember which one it was, but it was terrific. I had the Short Rib Boliche, which was braised short rib, white rice and an egg. It was great, but honestly, with everything else on the menu I was just whelmed. Next time, and there will be a next time, I'm going for all new dishes because despite leaving there satisfied and full, I have food regret. They have a large menu and I don't think you can go wrong with what you order.
The food at chug's was good, but not anything spectacular. The pancake was fun and made for a good picture, but at the end of the day it's just a thick pancake. I think the lechón hash was the star of the show here. Overall the service was really good and the vibe of the place was nice. If you're in the area I would swing by, but it's not something I would drive out of my way for.
Have been back twice and each time was downhill. This last time was really so amazingly disappointing. Like not even the same place. We started with the croquette...just bland and nothing. Then we had the big Instagram thing, the guava pancake. I was just a huge piece of...cornbread? Too much sweet syrup on the bottom, guava sauce on the top also too sweet. Just really not great. Had a granola bowl...weirdly tart, like lime. Not very good. Had Abula's platter. rice and beans, a piece of seriously over cooked chicken in a too sweet sauce, and a banana. The worst though was the turkey club...the turkey was just the worst possible, cheapest type of sliced turkey. Not even sliced deli meat. Like poorly packaged junky turkey meat. So awful. We will not be back.

An excellent brunch spot that served a variety of Cuban classics with modern twists. The Lechón Hash has to be the best spin on a breakfast bowl. I've been a few times and tried several dishes, and they always impress. This time, I had the breakfast slam which was fully loaded with flavor. They just don't serve boring dishes. Their famous pancake is a must-order. This place gets packed for weekend breakfast/brunch so make sure to arrive early. We had to wait over an hour, and the service was slower this time but the food made up for it. read more
Chug's is a brunch spot in the heart of the Grove serving classic Cuban cuisine. The coffee is good, the food is good, the service is good; what's not to like? I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and a la completa for my dish. The food came out relatively quick despite being their usual state of busy. The potatoes were delicious and had perfect crunch, and the eggs were seasoned nicely and made just how I like. We also got their popular pancake to share since it's huge, and that was also soft and yummy. Overall, you can't go wrong at Chug's! read more
This restaurant is busy! We came for brunch last Saturday and there was a 30 minute wait for an inside table. Luckily for us, two people left and we were able to sit at the bar! We watch the barista make coffee and matcha while we caught up. We ordered the cast iron pancake, the Phyllis's broccoli breakfast hash and a side of chicharron. Two of us shared all 3 dishes! Everything was delicious! I really liked the pancake but I can't imagine eating one by myself. We even gave a piece to a guy sitting next to me as he had never had it. We also ordered two mamey matchas, which were incredible! Great company, great food and great atmosphere! They didn't even try to hurry us when there was along wait by the door. I went for lunch during the week and it was fairly busy. Thankfully, we were seated quickly and the waiter came to our table right away. The menu offers a good variety of options. I got the Cuban American sandwich with the salad, which was EXCELLENT! You could tell the food was cooked fresh and the dressing for salad was so good. The reason I'm giving a four star review and not a five star is I wasn't please with our server and lack of attention. All "he" did was take our order, after that never saw "him" again. The food here is amazing and I will absolutely be back when I'm in the area. You can tell they take the food here serious and everything was absolutely fresh. Watching all the plates coming out I knew the food was going to be good. I will highly recommend this if you're in the area. read more

I have wanted to try Chug's Diner for a while, and I was finally able to find a day where it worked. I am so glad that day finally arrived. Chug's is the kind of place that screams comfort for food. There is nothing fancy here. Just beautiful, indoor and outdoor seating in a diner type atmosphere with excellent food and even better service. I must admit that, even in major cities like New York and Miami the parking gods smile on me. As is strangely usual for me, as I drove up to the restaurant on a busy Sunday morning, someone pulled out only steps away from my destination, leaving me a space to pull into. Walked up to the restaurant since they do not take reservations on Sunday mornings and put my name in. I was informed of the wait, which was not a problem because it was a beautiful day to walk around. I peruse the neighborhood, seeing other lovely restaurants and shops before being informed that my table was ready quite quickly. It was a gorgeous day to sit outside, but the first table that opened up was indoors, and it was kind of nice to enjoy the ambience of an old style diner. Perused the menu, which was quite nice, but told I could only order from the brunch menu, which was a little bit restrictive. We ordered La Completa with smoked salmon, a pancake with Nutella and bananas, and a milkshake and french fries for dipping pleasure. Everything was excellent. Service was over the top good. Really enjoyed it and will be back. I always feel I have to explain why I leave four stars instead of five at a restaurant that I love. In this case it is specifically because there was nothing creative about the pancake. They start with an exquisite preparation, but do nothing to make it extraordinary. For example, served with fruit compote and nuts or ice cream and sliced fruit or any other creative arrangement could really elevate the dish, making it both picture worthy and enticing to return to try more options. Despite that minor criticism, I really love this place and will be back and even try other meals here. Oh and don't forget to hold my parking space. read more

The Thai latte was good, but I had 3 sips and it was gone. The pancake was so yummy it kept me full after 2 slices and the harina con huevo was seasoned well especially if you love grits. There is a wait though during brunch but the wait was worth it. read more
So happy to have stumbled upon this place! It was our first time eating at a "Michelin Star" restaurant, so that made it a little extra special. This is a breakfast review - the food came out insanely quick and it was all perfectly fresh. Our server was delightful, answering all our questions and helping us pick out a few menu items. The breakfast sandwich was one of the best I've had... and served on super soft and fresh Cuban bread! The diner vibe was on point too. It was a Cuban American mixed menu. Cute place in a fun location in coconut grove. We had the fresh juice and a mimosa. The mimosa didn't take like pineapple was in it but decent. Little bubbles tho. We had the queso frito, the beltrans bacon, and the skillet pancake.to share and my bf had the completa breakfast too. The bacon was delish crisp and sweet and thick. The queso Frito was yummy and dipped in guava sauce. I ate it all the pancake was tasty super huge and swimming in sauce and topped with butter and sea salt. Yumm!! Lots of hype, but didn't live up to it. I was so excited to try this spot -- it's in a great location at Cocowalk, and I'd heard so much about it. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and we ended up sitting outside. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend that if you're visiting during midday in Miami -- it was extremely hot, even with the large fans they have set up. We ordered the duck croquetas -- those were amazing! Even my boyfriend, who's a plain cheeseburger-only kind of guy, loved them -- that was a win. But the famous pancake they're known for? Totally underwhelming. It was burnt on the outside (which I actually didn't mind -- nice crunch), but the inside was way too mushy. Just not a great texture overall. I also tried the lechón hash browns -- portion was really small for the price, and unfortunately, the lechón was dry and lacked flavor. Overall, aside from the croquetas, nothing really wowed us. A friend and I had attempted to go somewhere else for lunch in the grove but it was closed !! Soo I said I've been to chugs once before and I think we should try it again !! I'M SO GLAD WE DID !! We had ana amazing lunch and I highly recommend it for anyone that wants a diner experience with a real twist !! I was finally able to dine at Chug's (as i've heard so much about it) and I loved it. I had the lechón sandwich my first time, and the lechón hash my second time, both delicious. The lechón hash comes in a metal skillet that mixes a few breakfast items together. The only downside is that they don't accept reservations, so expect to wait at least 20 minutes to sit down (on a regular day). Although I do understand this is probably by design. I was able to sit with my friend at the counter quickly as those are first come, first served. I love that the menu mixes traditional american breakfast with Cuban style/flavor. One of my new favorite spots in Coconut Grove. read more

If you come on a Sunday afternoon, expect at least 1 hour wait. The bar is first come first serve, so we were able to snag a spot there. Extremely friendly service. Cafe con leche is a must, very sweet and strong! We got the pan con bistec and the broccoli hash. Both were large in size and very tasty. The broccoli hash was like a solid broccoli cheddar soup flavor - amazing. Could not recommend it here enough, definitely check it out! read more

Come with me to Chug's Diner in Coconut Grove. I first heard about Chug's because of their Cast-Iron Pancakes, and a few friends recommended it as well; after trying their breakfast menu, call me a fan. On this visit, I tried their iced cafe con leche, Cast-Iron Pancake, and La Completa. Everything was delicious. La Completa consists of three eggs, Waxman potatoes, and a tostada. I asked for my eggs to be scrambled with cheese and added Taylor Ham to my plate. I'm slowly working my way back to eating eggs, and these are the kind that I will have again. They were fresh, had the right texture, and the touch of fresh herbs on top was excellent. The Waxman Potatoes were perfectly roasted and seasoned. The ham and tostada were great, too. La Completa is the perfect dish if you want la combinación perfecta para un desayuno completo. The Cast Iron Pancake is a dream. You will close your eyes and smile at the first bite. It is fluffy on the inside and nice and crisp on the outside. Overall, Chug's was fantastic. The service was very attentive and kind, and the food was fantastic. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and nicely presented. I will add Chug's to my list of go-to brunch spots. I need to visit again soon to try their lunch options. read more

The food and service were good but they charge an extra fee for eating there on Sunday. It's not the amount, it's the principle, like hotels charging an extra "resort fee" for staying at their hotel. I don't recommend eating there on Sunday. No respect for businesses sneaking in extra fee's wherever they can. read more

I found Chugs while looking for a cup of Cuban coffee. I did not eat in as it was very busy. I ordered my coffee and croquet to go. Both were delicious and satisfying. I would love to come back and try some other menu items. read more
So excited to try this place and ended up coming on a Saturday morning. There was a 30-40 minute wait and we ended up walking down the street to the Coconut Grove Farmers market to head a coffee while we waited. They sat us in their cute outside patio area and we really appreciated all of the fans they had running to keep us as cool as you can be in the south Florida heat. Ordered the lechón sandwich, pan con bistec, breakfast fried rice, and the famous pancake! The lechón sandwich can with a perfectly fried egg that melded well with the pork and the bun was outstanding. The breakfast fried rice was delicious, filling and topped again with a perfectly fried egg. The pan con bistec was not only huge, flavorful and topped perfectly melted cheese and caramelizad onions it also came with an au jus sauce to dip in. It was perfect to dip the crusty bread in. The pancake! Absolutely HUGE. It has a nice crust from the pan cook and is surprisingly light for how it looks. It wasn't too sweet like some pancake batter can be and it pairs really well with the butter and flaky salt that they top it with. Overall great place to sit and have breakfast and their menu had a big list of things I'd love to come back and try again. read more

Went here for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday and despite being busy, we had a great experience. We ordered the cafe con leche which was great but I was really impressed by the cortadito drink, which is a hot espresso with sweetened evaporated milk. It was sweet and creamy and really balanced out the coffee flavor. For food we had: Cast Iron Pancake: 4.8/5 Really impressive all around, tasted like a combination of pancake and shortbread, and the syrup and butter was perfect with it. I can see how you could get tired of eating the same flavor after a couple bites so I recommend sharing this and another dish with other people in your group. Duck Croqueta: 1/5 I had high hopes for the croqueta but it ultimately was disappointing. My wife and I love duck but we were pretty unhappy with how this tasted. It was bland mush inside and the coating/fry wasn't great either. Pan con bistec: 4.5/5 This sandwich was a great steak sandwich. It was a pretty standard steak sandwich with a nice au jus dip and the texture on the steak and little potato crisps inside were great. Overall, I enjoyed the food and coffee but wouldn't get the croqueta again. read more

Great food and service cafe con leche iced coffee was great definitely taste the coffee not an overload taste of milk, the breakfast was great bacon is one of a kind , Chugs Slam is a good choice comes with a bit of everything I'd give it a 8/10. What took the show was the cast iron pancake it was delicious and it's enough for 2-3 people def 11/10. Get there at reasonable time this place gets packed on weekends. read more

On biz, and searches around for a good lunch spot near my hotel. I found and selected Chugs and sure glad that I did. Quickly was seated at the bar per my request as it was not very busy. I ordered the Pan Con Bistec and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. It is a sub roll(fresh soft bread) with short rib meet, crispy onions and an amazing sauce. The total home run was the au jus that comes along in a small bowl. Did I say that this was amazing!!! I noticed a post that this place is a Michelin recognized restaurant in 2025. I totally agree. If you are in the Coconut Grove area of Miami, get to this place as soon as you are hungry!! read more
Always expect a wait unless you choose to sit outside. I personally don't like to sweat while I eat. But whether you choose to sit inside or outside, expect to wait and the wait is usually worth it! We usually get the pancake skillet to share as an appetizer. It's our go-to and usually the reason we come here. I say it's big enough for 3-4 people. We also tried the croquettas and they were really good so I recommend trying them too. Honestly everything on their menu is delicious. It's no wonder there is always a wait. I did however feel like they lacked in their quality of service. read more
