This, this review hurt because I had high hopes for this place. The ambience is nice enough, a typical Chinese restaurant with a busy but nice staff. I heard good things so I wanted to try it. Maybe it's because I ordered from the Americanized Chinese food menu, maybe I chose poorly in terms of dishes, but the two entrees I ordered were inedible. We got the Hot Spicy Sichuan Prawns (battered and deep fried with hot, spicy garlic sauce) and the batter was just raw. Any crispy umami that could have been regained was smothered in a cloyingly sweet, sticky sauce that wasn't spicy at all. I tried to peel off the batter to at least enjoy the shrimp, and it was overcooked and bland. The other dish, Pillow Tofu, was similarly bad! I could barely taste the shrimp paste that is supposed to be blended with the tofu so the filling was just chalky, bland tofu. It was also soggy with sauce that was too sweet. I had to drink a ton of water to wash everything down and left hungry. I don't like to waste food and will still try to finish things I'm not a fan of, but this dinner was rough, ya'll. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, do not recommend or at least do not recommend those two dishes. read more

Since moving to DTPHX 4 years ago, this is my go to for Chinese take out. Other than NOT having egg rolls (they offer spring rolls), this place is legit delicious. I always get the WonTon soup- the broth is light, not salty at all, and they pack it with wontons. Their house fried rice is full of plump shrimp, and big cuts of juicy chicken and beef. I tried their sesame chicken for the first time, and it was delicious; the chicken was tender, lightly breaded, and the sauce was sweet and light. There isn't anything on this menu that I've tried, that I wouldn't order again. Peking duck with the crispy skin is decadent and their plum sauce is outrageous, the spare ribs are perfectly tender and generously sauced, the sweet & sour prawns are supersized and have that perfect tangy sweet flavor. You can't go wrong. They have a HUGE dining area, but right now they're only doing take out, so keep that in mind. read more

I don't understand the appeal of this restaurant. It's not that great. Anytime I've eaten there, the food has been unappealing. I'd rather eat at Panda Express. But let's talk about the parking situation and the complete disregard for pedestrians. At the height of lunch, the 5 parking spots are taken. Patrons park on the sidewalk. This is an ADA violation and how the City of Phoenix has not cited them is baffling. I walk by there almost daily. And every time, I am almost mowed down by some driver in a big hurry to park or leave. I'm legitimately surprised that anyone walks by unscathed by these entitled assholes. read more

I got to the restaurant and the parking lot was packed. I had to park across the street. I walked in and was greeted with a delicious aroma. I ordered BBQ Pork and Sweet and Sour Pork to go. I got back to my hotel room and unpacked it all. I saw that white rice was included. The BBQ Pork had a delicious sauce and was boxed with iceberg lettuce. It was actually a great combination. The Sweet and Sour Pork had onions, green peppers and pineapple. I put that over the rice and couldn't stop eating. Which says a lot because the portions were huge. Not a true 5 stars, but 5 stars for the limited Chinese food here in Phoenix. 4 stars is more accurate but the fact that it is one of the only places in Phoenix that serves Peking duck automatically bumps it up to 5! If this place were closer to where i live, i would go frequently, but 15 miles away makes it one of those occasional restaurants. Went here specifically for the Peking duck and ended up ordering $150 worth of dishes for a family of 4. Everything was good, not LA, NY, San Fran or even Vegas Chinatown good, but pretty good for Phoenix. Service was superfast! We ordered 13 dishes and we got bombarded with every one if them coming out within 10 min and pretty much all at the same time. It was a bit overwhelming but we planned this outing a few weeks prior, so it was also very gratifying. read more

Parking is a little tough when it's busy but there are a few dirt lots in the far back too AND you can enter from the front and back. The chicken salad is delicious too!
