My favorite Korean spots in Arizona since there weren't that many Korean spots in Glendale! However, they have some pretty authentic Korean dishes! Parking is pretty small so parking can be a little difficult when it gets busy! Service is decent and they are very friendly but could be more attentive. It is pretty spacious inside with plenty of indoor seating. However, it can get pretty loud when it is busy so it might be hard to hear one another They offer Korean BBQ but it isn't all you can eat, as well as Korean dishes (tofu soup, bulgogi, bibimbap, etc.), and sushi. There is even a lunch special menu Mon-Fri 11-2:30pm and has a good selection of bento boxes! I've gotten their beef teriyaki bento box and it came with rice, salad, 2 piece California rolls, and 2 pc fried gyozas. Pricing is $13-20 The beef teriyaki is pretty tender, flavorful, and not too salty. The salad is underwhelming and didn't have fresh greens. The fried gyozas were decent, nothing special. The California rolls were ok, not bad. I would say it's 7/10. The bibimbap was very fresh and delicious but a little pricey ($18.95). The bulgogi was marinated very well and rice was super crispy inside the hot stone bowl. Seafood tofu soup was pretty good and not too overly salty. It was very flavorful and the tofu was very soft. Love this place. Everyone there is polite and sweet. Owner is always there and very silly in a great way. Best authentic asian food on the west side. It doesn't look like much and I've spent years just driving past this place, but it's truly a great food spot. I have been eating at this restaurant since I was 5 years old -- that's 30 years. They have some of the same waitresses still working there today. It continues to be the best Korean joint around (even living in Chicago with all our options for the same). Do yourself a favor, treat yourself, and order basically anything off the menu. Order especially bulgogi or spicy pork bulgogi (I like to have them cook it in-kitchen vs. at-table DIY, but up to you) -- make sure to ask for some gochujang to go with the meat. I can't say about Japanese since I didn't try the Japanese food here. I was craving some Korean soup in the heat of AZ! But a Korean girl needs her Korean soup at times! The waitress was super friendly and suggested what soup to order, which was Yuk Gae Jang. So glad I got that because it really hit the spot! Good amount of heat and plenty of stuff inside the soup! It's not just the broth! Yuk Gae Jang includes egg, shredded beef, and assorted vegetables! I loved it! Naengmyun (Korean cold noodles) was just the right amount of chewiness and had Korean pears which added extra texture inside. Best naengmyun we've tried in AZ so far. Unfortunately they don't have any combos with the noodles but it was quite filling! A little disappointed in the amount of meat in the Kalbi dolsot bibimbab but the flavors were all great! Takamatsu is located where the OG Ktown of AZ was. This restaurant still holds their quality when it comes to what Korean food is. From their quality meat cuts for Kbbq to their Bomb Jjigae. Me and my family have been coming here for nearly two decades. This is a must whenever I come into town. They are able to accommodate for large or small parties. Takamatsu will always hold a snug place in my heart. This has to be the first restaurant where I would come in alone and order Doenjang jjigae. They do have sushi options all quality. I've been here many times but it's been awhile since the last time. They have very comfortable booth seats with grills in the middle of tables for tabletop bbq. Service is fast and friendly. They also offer typical Japanese food including sushi which is excellent. We shared spicy fish soup (maeuntang) and squid with noodles (nakji somyun). The soups was excellent, spicy and hot, perfect for the winter months. The squid with noodles was excellent as well. The noodles were cooked perfectly and seasoned with drop of sesame oil. We got the Bibim nengmyun (cold spicy noodles) + kalbi combo - good spice and sweetness of cold noodles - decent serving size of kalbi Kalbi dolsot bibimbap (stone pot rice) - mixed in some of the radish soup provided with this Seafood pancake - nice and crispy without being soaked in oil Overall authentic flavors but quite salty for all side dishes and bibim nengmyun. She was friendly and very efficient, getting us water and menus right away. We ordered quickly, sharing the veggie tempura as an appetizer. This came out very fast, as did all our mains. The veggie tempura was fine, but nothing amazing, could have done without ordering this. My husband and mother in law enjoyed their dishes (the yakisoba and bibimbab), while I liked my hwe dup bap. The fish was very fresh, and prices were decent. The restaurant is a little cold inside due to heavy air conditioning, and ambience feels outdated, but it is clean and pleasant. Came here to update again! Went in for my brothers birthday and the servers and the owner were so friendly and accommodating! They checked in with us multiple times and the food here gets better everytime! The food is filling and seasoned adequately. We got Galbi meat, seafood pancake, and japchae and each dish was incredibly portioned and tasted amazing. The ambiance here is very nice, small families come here to grab dinner and when we went on a Saturday night, wasn't so busy.
