Harumi is hands down my favorite sushi spot in the valley. The first location we ever went to was the one in downtown phoenix. Glad they opened one closer to our home! If you have never tried Harumi, the number one recommendation would be their OH MY GOD ROLL. It comes out with a flaming show (literally). The smokey taste the roll provides is like no other. The chef always has the best choices when it comes to their omakase. The nigiri pieces have the right amount of rice to fish ratio! Service here is always consistent. Ambiance feels nice too! This spot needs to be busier than it was on a Saturday at 12 PM!! There were 3 other tables that were filled when my friend and I came but the restaurant was so cute. The space was decorated simply and it wasn't loud at all so it was the perfect place to catch up with my friend. The waiters were super attentive and our food came out so quick. We ordered the oshinko roll, seaweed salad, sake nigiri, and bluefin tuna roll which was recommended by the waiter. We loved everything! It was the perfect amount of food for both of us and we left feeling comfortably full. I'm actually not a big seafood person so I loved the addition of vegan rolls on the menu. The use of purple rice was also very cute and made for good photos! It didn't make a huge texture/taste difference so we didn't mind it. Overall, I highly recommend this spot for some yummy rolls. This place has excellent sushi, including vegan options! They have 4 rolls under a clearly labeled "Vegan Sushi" section, and I really love the sweet potato roll. In addition I confirmed that their tempura batter has no egg, so the veg tempura is vegan as well and really delicious. Not sure about the dipping sauce that comes with the tempura though, I would assume it has dashi though I didn't ask. The staff are excellent, everyone is very polite and professional. The place is pretty busy, we came around 7pm on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes for a table of 4. I do have some notes for the restaurant, for one the tables inside are arranged sort of awkwardly so that it was quite difficult to get out of our table in order to use the restroom, and I had to ask someone in a different party to move their chair. In addition the timing of the dishes coming out is somewhat random. We ordered shrimp and veggie tempura in addition to some sushi, and even though they were appetizers both the tempura dishes came out after the sushi. In addition there was a decent gap in between the veggie and shrimp tempura, so long that we thought maybe they forgot about the shrimp but they didn't. We decided to finally try out this restaurant for some sushi & left saying how amazing everything was! This restaurant is located in a strip mall attached to some other great spots! The restaurant itself is definitely on the smaller side but they also have outdoor dining as an option. This is what one would call a hidden gem because we were definitely not disappointed as we were walking away. Once you sit down you'll realize that this is a restaurant where you're having several random servers taking care of you. So once we finally decided on our choices everything came out fairly quickly even with there being a half full restaurant. We started with some pork gyozas which is one of my husband's favorites & he was happily pleased... they were very fresh. We also had some of the tempura shrimp & onion which were both perfectly cooked without being greasy. As for the sushi we went with the shrimp tempura roll which was some of the best, the rice was cooked perfect plus everything was balanced just right. Then we also had the spider roll which I just loved because I love soft shell crab... OMG with the avocado & cream cheese, there were zero complaints on my end! I LOVE the downtown Harumi location and figured the Peoria location would have the same standards. It unfortunately didn't. While the space was clean and there were lots of employees, service was not great and the rice on all of the rolls tasted like it wasn't fresh. Small space, tables were close together. We ordered appetizers and several different types of sushi. While we were in there, there was a "Bro Table" of corporate guys talking so loud it made it very uncomfortable. There was another table right next to us and all of us were looking at each other wondering if the weight staff was going to ask them to be quiet but they never did. The space feels peaceful and airy, with just the right amount of light -- not too bright, but perfectly balanced to create a sense of calm. Have been wanting to try this place out for so long now. This location is really convenient because there is so much parking available in the lot outside. We went on a Monday night and sat outside which was perfect. The food was fast to come out and their service style is cool, whoever is available will help and check in on you. They surprised us with the yellowtail carpaccio which was compliments of the chef which was incredibly kind. The fish was tender, the hot Havana had wonderful flavor. If you're looking for amazing sushi, Harumi absolutely delivers. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. We started with the Ahi Tuna Crispy Rice, which was perfectly crispy with fresh, flavorful tuna on top. We also ordered the Hamachi Sashimi, which melted in your mouth and tasted incredibly fresh. For sushi, we had the Sake Roll and added the seared miso butter, which took the salmon to another level and was one of our favorite bites of the meal. The highlight of the night was when Chef David surprised us with one of his specials: seared yellowtail. It was absolutely incredible--lightly seared, buttery, and packed with flavor. If it's available, don't hesitate to order it! For our signature roll, we tried the Harumi Roll. It was good, but after seeing and tasting more of the menu, we both agreed we would probably order the Yellowtail Trio instead next time. To pair with dinner, we had the Montepulciano, and it was an excellent choice. Smooth, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the sushi. Harumi continues to be one of those places where the quality is consistently outstanding. Between the fresh fish, creative dishes, and attentive chefs, it's hard to make a bad choice here. I had been to the downtown location before the renovation and has an amazing experience! So when I loved and found a Harumi in my neighborhood I was so excited! This location has decor that is a little different than the location in the city but the service here was the same attentive, engaging, friendly and prompt. I came on a solo date so I chose to sit at the counter. The food was 10 out of 10, I'm confident that this is some of the freshest sushi I've had in Arizona and the flavors are so cohesive and delicious. Definitely recommend! After being unwelcome and feeling rushed at Kawai Sushi, my kids and I came to Hurumi Sushi on Lake Pleasant -- and it completely turned our night around. Just okay I was hoping for more. Tried Harumi Sushi after hearing some buzz, but overall it was a mixed experience. The restaurant is small and cozy, which I actually liked it had a relaxed, intimate vibe. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't quite hit the mark. The crispy rice was too crispy almost hard to bite through and the crunch roll was overwhelmed by too much eel sauce, which masked the other flavors. Service was just okay. Our group had a wonderful experience at lunch today! We're lovers of their downtown location and figured it was worth the drive to check out their new location as well. Chef T was friendly and generous, recommending a delicious Toro Trio special to go with our yellowtail carpaccio (our fav!!). We loved the negitoro roll in particular: a perfect blend of savory fish and scallion. We also tried the sashimi sampler, which included 4 different kinds of sashimi, all fresh and all delicious. In our experience, it is the details that make it such a great restaurant: the fish is incredibly fresh, the fresh wasabi is the perfect complement, and the service, from the chef on down, was exceptional. There is an enclosed patio with heaters and an inside seating area with eight tables and sushi bar seating. We met friends for dinner. We ordered the Crunch Mango roll, chicken gyoza, seaweed salad, 2 bowls of chirashi Don and sake. The roll had mango, crab, rice, salmon and ahi. The chirashi don is sushi rice with assorted sashimi. All were so fresh and tasty. Great service with shared servers. Would definitely return. They do not take reservations. We would've had a 40 minute wait but our friends arrived earlier. Management this review is for you to see. I've been to the Harumi in downtown a few times and I'm disappointed to say that this location did not stack up and unfortunately I believe it comes down to the details and taking your job seriously. You can see my receipt that's attached for what we ordered. I did order in person because the functionality of the online ordering system whether that's intentional or not is just very lacking. Ordering online you're not able to make simple modifications to your food or requests. Let me just say management, your front of the house staff is doing a great job and they're very friendly. From what I could see the restaurant looked pretty clean. The server that was helping me was a short blonde girl and she took her time making sure that our order was input exactly how we wanted it, no crazy modifications, things like no wasabi on the food and sauce on the side for the rolls. I feel like these are common requests and she made sure the order was accurate. AFTER she puts the order into the POS system she goes back to the chefs and explains line by line exactly what the modifications mean. The chef that she's explaining the order to I believe was a white male, he doesn't fully understand so she explains again. I pulled up a chair and waited for my food at this point, near the end of dinner service at this point in the night, i believe there were 3 tables inside. Some of the food comes out and there's mistakes on the orders, so the server who took my order goes back to the chef and asks him to correct the order. After a few minutes she goes back to him and let's him know that he's made another mistake.... keep in mind im sitting like 6 feet from them and I can see all this happening. He makes part of the order for the 3rd time and he jokingly says to the server "let me know if theres anything else wrong with that". Chef, I don't understand why you're so okay with doing a sub par job. Customers are paying good money to get the food that they ordered and they would like their food how they enjoy eating it. You're wasting our time, the servers time, and the owners money throwing away product and increasing food cost for the restaurant. Management/Owner if you're wondering why your food cost is high, look into WASTE! If you're wondering why some customers aren't coming back look at the food coming out. After waiting about 30 minutes to get my food, I drive home and low and behold, all the food has sauce on it (we requested sauce on the side for all the rolls).... AND LOOK at that poor excuse of a yellowtail cut roll. I'm not even talking about the size of it, look how it's rolled and just falling apart just sitting there. It looks like it was assembled by a 4th grader. The food was decent but the poor attitude of the chef/the mistakes with our order really put a bad taste in our mouth. read more

Beautiful design. Excellent service. Each dish ordered was delicious. We were warmly welcomed in upon arrival and we sat at the sushi bar. The chairs tend to slip and slide on the floor yet stay upright. The soft background music was trippy yet much better than the obnoxiously loud music at nearby restaurants. We've been here a couple times and are always happy with the service and food. I still hold favoritism for the downtown Phoenix location, as the dining area is a lot more elevated and spacious and I do feel the sushi does taste better, plus they have cocktail drinks. BUT putting aside that preference, this location continues to deliver absolutely delicious sushi that's reflects the same items that you'll find in the other. We've always been quickly seated regardless of group sizes ranging from 2-6 people. The food is prepared and delivered in a timely manner, and the service team all works together to ensure that your dining experience is a positive one. This place is very easy to find, lots of parking. It's next to Aldi's. Good vibes, service was pretty good except we didn't really know who our server was since it seemed like a "group" thing. The sushi was pretty good. We had a lot of different things. The matcha green tea, was so good. I had it hot and it was amazing. I could have had multiple cups of it. Delish. Gyoza-didn't try it but the mini mini ate all of them and said they were good. Shrimp tempura-pretty standard, very good. This was pretty good, 7.5/10 Oh My God -smoked roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, crab salad. It also had shrimp, eel and tobiko, and spicy Mayo and eel sauce -they light it up at your table, so if you need a little "show" at your table, get this. 8/10 Mt. Fuji - tuna, salmon & avocado topped with scallops, tobiko wrapped with soy paper -this was pretty good, I really enjoy any roll with scallops, so 9/10 Spicy Scallop nigiri - scallops topped with sriracha and chili crunch oil.
