Did you know my batchelor party was at a sushi bar, way long time ago. Since then I've eaten at 78 different sushi places. Sully's is among my best picks and I'll tell you why. Attention to detail, even in the smallest things really shows how everyone that enters through the door is respected and taken care of. Cleanliness, the place looked spotless. (Ever walked in a restaurant and it was such a mess, it skeeves you out, turned around and walked out? I have. Not at Sully's for sure). Timing of the dishes coming out of the kitchen (I hate when it feels like they want to turn over the table so the serve everything at once making the Nori all soggy, losing that snap when you take a bite.). Menu, easy to understand, pricing fair and varied enough for my family to have choices, (my cousins stir fried rice dish was hot and flavorful). As a comparison... there are many places that can serve a large portion of food but it's rare where I see it so well done (ordered a sashimi plate here and almost couldn't eat the entire meal, they served so much, almost overflowing the plate). Friendliness... I heard the owner speak 4 different languages in the short time we were there. Don't be afraid of asking for recommendations! I had some of the most flavorful carpaccio of yellowtail sliced so thin, stretching across the plate from one end to the other, glistening with truffle oil (I am going to buy a bottle of my own next time I go shopping). Finished with a bit of color across the top that made my mouth water before my chopsticks even reached my plate. Communication with a smile is the sign of a good business person as it sets the tone for a really good meal (instead of some places that forget you have soooo many other choices. I hate it when the first person you meet has a sourpuss face, then the waiter never comes back, the order is wrong, too spicy or sloppily done. Sully's gets it right. I could have sat there all night and felt completely comfortable. (Truth be told, I had 2 bottles of saki with my meal and felt that warm glow spreading through the room. Love that effect from a good saki choice.) Finally, let's talk about the food. I was told the quality of their fish is one of THE reasons they have so many regulars coming back over and over again. I would have to agree. Deliciously tasteful, art worthy presentation, (I think every type of fish on my sashimi plate was cut a different way showing the chef's skill set and allowing me to easily see which each was, not to mention the deep color of each fish laid across the plate. I probably would have ordered it all over again if I wasn't so stuffed from the first round. Thank you Sully's for a really wonderful meal. If you haven't already, put this place on your to-do list. It was our first time here. This place has changed owners a few times, so I didn't really know what to expect. It's a small place, but clean. It wasn't busy when we got there, which was nice. We ordered the mixed tempura, chicken katsu, sushi combo, and pork stone pot bibimbap. I liked the katsu, crispy and not dry. The tempura was light. The sushi tasted fresh. The bibimbap was a good portion and had good flavor. The miso soup was also good, with a good amount of tofu and seaweed. Nothing fancy, just a solid casual spot. The sushi was soooo good! Fresh and we asked for the soy wrappers instead of seaweed. We also had the garlic edamame appetizer. Sooooo good! They were all super nice and made us feel very welcomed and when we left they also were so pleasant. The decor was very well done. They had a tv up in the corner for games and there were a few people watching baseball while they ate sushi. The bathrooms were well kept and clean as well. The cost of the lunch was really reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we were served. I will definitely make this a regular go to spot now that I have moved here. read more

I think there used to be a different sushi spot in this same location but maybe I'm incorrect. Ample parking, so you'll never have to fight for a spot. Bestie and I tried a few things. Edamame: standard but very good, as expected Spicy scallop: decent, scallop to rice ratio is okay. I do like the spicy scallop rolls elsewhere a little better Spicy yellowtail: decent, nothing outstanding but as expected for a spicy yellowtail roll. Crazy-Loco: spicy and good flavor, 9/10. Definitely would eat this again but with the tempura crunch on top of the avocado, I'm a bit messy. Jalapeno and cream cheese is a winning combo in my book and I love spicy tuna always. Sully's Signature Roll: it sounds like there's a lot going on, and there is, but in a great way. The cilantro adds some extra freshness and brightness. Can't go wrong with shrimp tempura 9/10 Is the sushi crazy unique? Not imo, but I've also been eating sushi everywhere since I was like 5. Was it decent? Of course. Restroom was very clean. Note: This used to be Sushi Island. It has a new name, new owner and very, very good sushi. I think I am a sushi snob being from LA and having access to Little Tokyo but Sully's Erumi Sushi on Bell Av. In Glendale is right up there with the best of LA sushi houses! We had the garlic edamame, shrimp tempura, rainbow roll and tuna and crunchy garlic roll. The edamame came warm and so tasty. The shrimp was lightly battered and hit the spot. Both rolls were fresh and the presentation was just perfect. Had a good Japanese beer selection too! Can't forget the good service. The ambiance was cozy and warm. I ordered a spicy garlic albacore and a bulgogi egg fried rice for pick up. The first thing I liked was that my food was ready since I arrived at the time I said I would arrive. It's fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Our first visit was a Saturday evening, dinner with the family. We ordered several different rolls, including sashimi and carpaccio. Everything came out fresh, beautifully prepared, and packed with flavor. The sushi was customizable, and the quality really stood out. For my second visit, I ordered takeout on a Thursday night, and it was just as impressive. The fish was still incredibly fresh and everything tasted just as good at home as it did in the restaurant. Our new sushi place! We went to Sully's (formerly Sushi Island) for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated immediately. My husband ordered the Beef Bowl and I ordered the small sushi combo with a salmon roll. We got 2 miso soups and gyoza to share. The miso was delicious and flavorful! The gyoza was crispy and the dipping sauce was fresh and zesty tasting. My husband loved his bulgogi beef rice bowl with salad and my combo nigiri was so fresh and the fish was very flavorful. The rice had a nice level of seasoning as well. Our server was very attentive and polite. She was helpful with any questions we had about the menu. The atmosphere was casual, very clean, and modern inside. There were several small families with children, couples, and small groups. The restaurant is small, so I would not suggest a big group without calling ahead to make arrangements. 10/10 we will be returning here regularly. read more

We were looking for a restaurant that serve Stone Pot Bibimbap in the West Valley and Sully's Erumi Sushi came up. Decided we try it and this is our third visit. Two dinner visits and one lunch (bento lunch specials) visits. Tonight we ordered Stone Pot Bibimbap (chose beef bulgogi), Hamachi Kama (meaty), Mixed Tempura and cucumber salad. We asked for the Stone Pot Bibimbap be extra crispy and the rice was perfectly crispy. Everything we've ordered tasted great all three times. Seated with no wait, put in orders and appetizers & dishes quickly served hot. Great service. Quiet. Wish we had known of this place sooner. We have been looking for a good sushi spot since we moved to this side of town a year and a half ago. Based on previous reviews, we decided to finally try Sully's and oh my gosh I wish we didn't wait so long!! The sashimi was exceptionally fresh and the rolls are really exciting and so unique. The eel was delicious. My boyfriend said the squid salad was one of the best he's had. We brought our daughter in and the server was really sweet with her and even gave her a dessert on the house! Sully's is truly a "Hole in the wall" type place with maybe only enough seating for 30 people but it has some of the best sushi I have ever had. Though not a regular item, as you have to special order this (a week in advance) the uni (sea urchin) was most buttery & velvety like an oceanic foie gras far better than what I had in Japan last year. The rest of the sashimi mainstays such as tuna belly, salmon, and yellowtail were equally buttery. My favorite comfort dish is the hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar). The meat is so tender and flavor so full of umami. It is a large collar of a large fish here whereas at other restaurants, I usually have seen it much smaller wondering why this dish is even on the menu. I have taken the leftovers of this hamachi to be enjoyed as my brunch the next day. Rolls such as the Lolly-pop (with a cucumber wrap) and Sunny (salmon topped with lemon and roe) have a crisp, lighter flavor. I will definitely be returning for their top notch sushi! read more

We moved here recently and have been desperately searching for a Sushi place. We were in the area and stopped in for lunch. It was fantastic. The Jallepeno balls are one of the most delicious appetizers of any type that ai have ever had. They were more than happy to make our roll with soy paper since I don't care for seaweed. It was the Hot and Mild roll and was also perfect. The waitress was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere relaxing. We have taken family and explored the menu deeper. I would happily reorder every item we have tried. The Tempura Udon has a broth that has a richness and complexity that is hard to describe. It is off the charts good. The Las Vegas roll was delicious and the deep frying provided a very pleasant texture. Another hit for sure. Today we had the Pork Gyoza. Crispy, filled with pork and a spectacular dipping sauce. I know I have missed some other favorites, but it doesn't matter because everything is fresh and delicious. Add on the great service and this place is a must visit.
