Great juicy fried chicken. The price is also relatively reasonable. I would recommend the dry chicken flavors without sauce.

You'll probably miss this place if you aren't from around these parts. It's new but the food tastes like they've been doing it for years! The restaurant is tiny. I mean a total of 10 - count 'em TEN - seats. It was empty when we got there and still empty when we left. Most of the orders were take out. Everyone who came in knew what they wanted so it must be legit. We ordered the half and half - original and buldak. It was not spicy at all and, in fact, we regretted not ordering a full order of buldak since it was so tasty! The pieces weren't drowned in the sauce and the skin was still quite crispy from the batter. The original was super crispy, though the meat was a bit thin and dried out on some pieces. They also give you a free drink with the full order and these finger gloves to keep your thumb and index finger clean! Haha! read more

Friendly staff and the wait isn't too long. You can order delivery, pickup or dine in. Small place but a couple seats. Bus stops at walking distance and further away but still walkable from the skytrain station. A few different flavours and all tastes great! Portion is extremely small we were so surprised. Usually order half and half is enough for 3 if I go to b.b.q chicken (I might order fries at most) but here we ordered half and half and another flavour and still ended up going to a Japanese restaurant after because we were hungry. read more

Doesn't look much when you pass by, you probably think it is another chicken place again. To me I think I found the real gem! Couple things to keep in mind:1) better to order take out (order 15min in advance) 2) don't eat in the restaurant as space is limited. There is only one or two tables in the restaurant. I haven't seen anyone eating at the restaurant 3) the landsdown location doesn't do delivery. My top recommendations 1) original chicken Do half and half 2+3 2) soy chicken 3) yangyeom 4) cheese snow - the cheese snow they have the powder on the side for you to put it on the cheese. I would order an original chicken and sauce on the side it will be a little bit cheaper. Their chicken is so crispy and juicy inside. It is hands down better than KFC and churches. This is my go to place now. I love how they keep their menu simple comparing to other restaurants. I find Chicko chicken focus on their fried chicken and nothing else. Quality vs quantity. read more

Freshest fried chicken ever ! They specifically will tell you that they make their chicken to order so all orders will be at least a 20 min wait & worth it if you want hot juice and crisp fried chicken and not in a rush. Not a lot of seating (only three tables ) but we saw alot of people taking out. We got original and yangyeom( Korean sweet and spicy flavour). The full orders come with a drink and pickled radishes. They will provide you with wet wipes and plastic covers for your fingers so you can pick up the chicken without getting you hands dirty. The original was good, much like chicken fingers , but we then got a soy garlic sauce on the side to dip because it was too plain for us. You can also get the soy garlic ($1) as a flavor they prepare. The chicken was crisp and chicken was juicy ! The chicken also stayed crispy until the end even the one with sauce on it. Overall, comparable to proce as other Korean fired chicken places but their complementary radishes were a generous size. Would definitely come back as I have one more flavour to try - cheese snow. read more

What can I say about Chico Chicken? A number of KFCs (ahem Korean Fried Chicken joints) are popping up in the hood. As if people are in a sudden craze. Not being Korean, when proprietors refer their products as KFC, I get really confused with the actual Kentucky Fried Chicken. The good - value, wholesome and reasonably priced. The ok- average tasting and bland. IMO it is a "try" not a "must". Super popular joint tho. More popular than other KFC joints in the hood including the American version. read more

Hands down my favourite fried chicken spot in town! Hidden in a small complex next door to Gleneagle Secondary School, this spot is a bit of a hidden gem. Perfect meat to batter ratio. Super juicy chicken with the most amazing crunchy, flavourful batter. I usually get the original boneless chicken, but I have also tried the soy chicken as well. Both were delicious and you can even do half and half orders if you want to try a bit of everything. Prices are pretty in line with most other Korean fried chicken spots around the neighbourhood and the portion sizes are pretty decent. At Chicko though, you also get a free drink and pickled radish side with a large order of chicken, so that's a nice little add-on. Definitely recommend ordering in advance! Otherwise, you could be hanging around the area for about 15-30 minutes waiting for your order, as everything is made to order. There isn't really much of an area for you to wait either. Just a table with a couple of chairs. This is definitely a take out spot. They have an app you can order off of and track the progress and collect points for freebies. While the app is a little buggy at times, I find this was better than calling. When I tried to call, it was hard to get through to them because they tend to be quite busy. Also props to them for maintaining a high standard on COVID-19 precautions. All staff wear face shields as well as face masks. Their kitchen is semi-open as well and from what I can see, the kitchen is well kept and looks extremely clean. read more

Wow. I am Korean and I've eaten my share of KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) and I have to say, this place is as good if not better than any other place in all of Vancouver. The wife and I ordered a full order of soy garlic wings and a half order of boneless original with cheese sauce on the side. These were the best KFC wings I've had in Vancouver. They were still crispy even with the sauce and fall off the bone tender! Like mentioned by some before, it's best to order before hand. It's a 30 minute process so order it to go. I think it's because the don't pre-double fry the wings which sometimes makes the batter feel crumbly as opposed to it shattering on bite. HIGHLY recommend if you are in the Port Moody/Coquitlam area! read more

I must live a sheltered life as I didn't know anything about KFC,"Korean Fried Chicken", until my brother mentioned it to us two days ago and we had to order last night. We went to the Landsdowne location which is situated in a quiet plaza (at night) at the foot of Eagle Mountain with plenty of parking. They have a great website with plenty of pictures and some descriptions of each flavour to make our selections. I decided to order the Boneless versions of the following Half & Half: Original and Buldak (spicy) and, Soy Garlic and YangYeom (sweet and spicy) with Shake Shake Fries and side of Soy Garlic sauce. Each Half & Half order was enough for 2 people so we have plenty of yummy leftovers (which is fine by me who loves cold chicken from the fridge!) We loved all the different flavours and will probably order the other flavours next time. We even made plans to bring these to our next potluck (we just got vaccinated and looking forward to some outdoor family time this summer, but I digress!) The cheese powder was a bit mysterious to me but I went with it and poured it into my bag of fries and SHOOK! It was cheesy sweet and I like it! (I actually put an original chicken in the bag and shook it with the cheese powder and fries and it was surprisingly good. This is probably what the 'Cheese Snow Chicken' taste like.) The soy garlic sauce was not sticky like the one on the chicken but I still liked it. And I won't forget the Pickled Radish that came with the Half&Half. Wow! I blasted through both of them. The smell was not familiar but when I tasted it, it reminded me of my favourite Jewish coleslaw. We also got 2 free pops to go with our order. I think this is going to be our go to chicken joint now and/or I'll be eating plenty of 'KFC' as I'm willing to compare the multitudes of Korean chicken joints around my area. read more

There's quite a number of Korean Fried chicken places around nowadays each with a slightly different style. We've enjoyed them all, overall this place probably has the best flavour the downside is the portion is a bit smaller than what you'd get at BBQ (the big chain). But hey it's local and worth it. read more

Would you like a little chicken thigh with your batter? This was likely the most money we've spent on batter...ever! So, we ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 (original & bulzak) with high expectations. First bites of the original were very crunchy no doubt! The spice on the bulzak was good but after 8 minutes in the box the bulzak was missing the same crunch as the original obviously due to the sauce...understandable. We noticed a very fatty flavour (not grease, but chicken fat), and discovered that we had some very fatty thigh pieces. Then we started dissecting the balls and guess what? We were eating mostly batter with fatty thigh bits inside. I decided to do a video and put the last eight balls on a plate (that's 1/3 of the entire order of 24 pieces) and began removing the chicken bits. I couldn't upload the video, so I took some screen shots of the video. As you can see from the average ball size in the images we probably had 70-80% batter in our order. The most chicken I saw in 1 ball was maybe 40% and some balls had 10% chicken and 90% batter! Ok, if you absolutely LOVE batter...go for it. If you'd rather eat chicken with some batter, go elsewhere! I had a terrible experience with them tonight. I made an order on their website, and when I arrived, they said they didn't have my order. What ended up happening is that the order went to the other Coquitlam location. The most frustrating part was the staff member and the manager just kept repeating, "There's nothing we can do." There is always something you can do. They refused to do anything, and they refused to care. They would not make me my order, and blamed the situation on the app company. The issue is that when ordering from the website, they do not send an email confirmation, and the confirmation on the website does not state which location you ordered from. It's really too bad, because their chicken is actually pretty good. We've ordered before. But we won't be ordering again, because it's obvious that they couldn't care less. read more

I have tried the soy and regular chicken from this place on two separate locations, both takeout. The first time, we were kept waiting past the 30 min estimated pick up time because they forgot to process our order. We did get some free canned drinks and radish as compensation though. The second time they gave us bones when we specifically asked for boneless, but we didn't mind and it wasn't a big deal to us. The chicken here is quite delicious, and addictive. I wish that the service was better but it's not bad enough to deter us from ordering. read more

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised about this place. I had my carbs pulled from my everyday consumption so all I could eat is protein and veggies. I was able to "cheat" by having breaded chicken to least take the edge off my carbs withdrawal. That said, I have ordered out from at least 4 different Korean Fried Chicken over the last few days. This is the best by far. Although there was one other that was good but it tasted crap after reheating in the oven. The FC at this place was still good after being refrigerated overnight. Just a 15 pop in the oven is all it needed. And they have boneless FC which is amazing! read more

Coquitlam has it's fair share of korean chicken establishments and you really got to bring your 'A' game if you want to stand apart as better than everyone else. So when an acquaintance of mine declared that Chicko, the new kid on the block, is the best he's ever tried in Coquitlam - I knew that I had to try it out. I was told in advance that this was more of a take out/pick up sort of place, so what better time to try Chicko then during the pandemic when everything is pickup only? We excitedly picked up our half half boneless chicken - half normal fried and half yam nyeom - and went straight to our patio with beers in hand. The radish was perfectly packed in it's own container and everything looked great.... that is until we took our first bite. It's not that the chicken was bad. . there just wasnt anything special to write home about. Perhaps we fell into the hype too much and expected something that would blow our taste buds out of the park - but unfortunately Chicko just didnt do that for us. My husband is a firm believer that you can tell how good their chicken is by first getting their normal fried chicken and unfortunately, chicko's chicken just failed to excite us with their bland taste. We ended up having a lot of leftovers that stayed in my fridge for the next few days, which is rare for our chicken-lovin' bellies. In terms of their batter, it seems chicko is lacking a crunch to their bite and seasoning to their meat. I was expecting the usual underlying curry seasoning that is key to korean fried chicken recipes but there was none of that. At some point I jokingly made the reference during our dinner that this chicken reminds me of KFC's popcorn chicken and that I should make some gravy for a dip instead.. but I felt that was just way too disrespectful to the chicken we had in front of us. read more

Usually the chicken at this place is spot on but with the last order I got pieces of chicken that looked like dark meat which I don''t like. I also bit into one piece and got a chunk of grisle or something that turned me off the food. Might try one more time but if the chicken pieces aren't the same quality they use to be I'll go elsewhere. read more

I have ordered from the Robson Street location 3 times and I am here to tell you this is probably the best fried chicken in Vancouver. I get half original, half soy garlic, on the bone. If you can find better, Korean or otherwise, I'd be very happy to try it. I know my fried chicken, have eaten it all over North America, and Chicko is superb. read more
