Randomly chose this restaurant while passing through Boston Chinatown and was pleasantly surprised!…read moreWe went in the early afternoon, so it was quiet and not too busy inside. Interior is on the smaller side and relatively clean. Service was a little slow considering we were 1 of 3 occupied tables, but they were otherwise very attentive and friendly! Oyster omelette is actually pretty similar to the ones you can get at night markets in Taiwan, although ours was lacking a little flavor and the sauce carried. Be prepared for a slightly gooey texture! The stir fried rice cakes and the wonton noodle soup were both deliciously fragrant. The pork over rice is a decent deal and fairly good for being in the US, but the texture of the pork wasn't as good as what you'd find in Taiwan.

Back years ago, I wasn't too big of a fan because i thought Taiwan Cafe lacked flavors…read more We decided to stop in as friends seem to like it and we wanted to give it another go. Daily lunch deal: $36.95 for 3 dishes or $13.95 for one dish - longhorn pepper beef - juicy tender beef, peppers were HOT this batch. Enjoyed - salt pepper pork - not what i was expecting, haha I'm too used to canto style, it wasn't dry and was still a good homey dish. Didn't have the crystallized salt coating though. - spicy white fish - least favorite of our choices, just didn't like the presentation or the flavor profile. Got an additional dish: crab meat soup dumplings. Somewhat thin skin, couple of them broke and leaked the soup out before we picked it up. Spicy white fish was not what we were expecting. Thought it was going to be a bowl of red spicy broth with white fish but they gave us a fried fish with glaze. The space had plenty of seating, and staff were quick and nice. The cleanliness needs to be stepped up a bit personally. There were dead bugs along the window that should be cleaned daily.

Well-known Asian fusion spot in the South End neighborhood of Boston. Co-founded by Joanne Chang…read more(hence the name +Chang) who also founded Flour Bakery (which I love). Modern and elegant vibe inside with kind staff willing to explain the menu in detail. The first time I went here years ago, I was a bit disappointed. The menu is more so small plates/tapas style. My parents and I came for lunch and found the food to be extremely salty and although it was Asian fusion, I thought that the Asian flavors were quite lackluster. I gave it another try a couple of years back with a friend for dinner service and found the food to better this time around. We shared their eggplant, salmon rolls, lemon shrimp dumplings, and tuna two ways. Eggplant was plump and I believe had some Thai basil or other aromatic stirfried into it which I appreciated. Salmon rolls were fun and I appreciated the sauce. Lemon shrimp dumplings were oily but packed with flavor and I also liked the creamy tangy sauce that came with it. Tuna two ways was the favorite; big fan of crispy rice at sushi restaurants so if that's your jam you'd like this.

Would definitely come back!!! Best to come with a bigger group and you get to share and try…read moreeverything. We were five people and we shared the following: - papaya salad - bokchoy - Brussel sprouts - pan roasted salmon - nasi goreng - pork bao buns - pork and chive dumplings I can't even pick which ones were my fave (maybe the nasi goreng) but they all complemented each other so well. Don't skip the dessert!! Cocktail was insane as well, had the bloodlust which had a nice spicy kick to it. Coming back soon for more. Service was quick and they gave us a birthday cake on the house for friend's bday!

Great authentic cuisine!…read more We really enjoy dining in at Taipei because everything is always so darn delicious! There are plenty of big and small tables and the waiters are very nice. They have a huge menu with some images to choose from. It's always so hard to decide because we want to order everything everytime we are craving good Chinese food! As soon as you sit down they bring you a tea pot full of hot tea which is really nice. This time we wanted to try the spicy fried fish and the sand pumpkin and mini shrimp fried rice. The fish was nice and spicy and very crunchy! The sand pumpkin had a nice texture and it was cooked perfectly. Every dish was literally made to order because each one came out hot and one right after the other. By the end of the meal we were stuffed and satisfied and we were happy to have leftovers to take home. This place never disappoints!

For a late 2pm Saturday lunch I stopped by Taipei Gourmet. The establishment was one-third full, so…read moreI received a seat immediately. I ordered the beef noodle soup ($15.95) and vegetarian leek pie ($9.95). Both came out within 10 minutes. The beef noodle soup had the thin flat wheat noodle ubiquitous in Taiwanese noodle soups. The soup was well-flavored with stock. Too many of these sorts of places over-rely on soy sauce, making a salty yet thin and underflavored bowl. Not here. I will nitpick and say that I would like larger chunks of beef, not the sort of cubed stew beef you see at the supermarket. The vegetarian leek pie (as it's called in the menu) is a pastry stuffed with chive (not leek), egg, and vermicelli. It was decently salted and hot. The portion sizes were quite satisfying as well. Closing thought - this place has, so far, the closest to what I would consider a decent bowl of Taiwanese beef noodle soup I've had in the Boston metro area so far. I'm always on the lookout for it

I got a friend's recommendation for this place, so i ordered via UberEats…read more First thing i noticed was...... boxes were completely full. They literally put full of food inside the box. It was quite impressive since i see half box full in general. Foods were all tasty but it is a bit below my expectation. Maybe i expected way too much since my friend strongly recommended. But still, amount was great, food was enjoyably tasty enough, price was reasonable.

Although the sign says "Taiwanese," it doesn't feel like Taiwanese food at all... more like a mix…read moreof Northern China and Sichuan cuisine. As a Cantonese, I really don't like it. Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯: Extremely sour, too sharp. Homemade Sausage 自製手工香腸: Tastes like mild Chinese sausage, rather hard and dry. Home Style Spiced Chicken 木蘭燒雞: As a cold dish, it has the feel of Northern-style braised chicken, salty and smoky. It's okay, but the chicken and skin are too soft. Minced Pork with Preserved Long Beans 酸豆角小炒: Also very sour and quite spicy, the flavor is too stimulating for me. Shredded Beef w. Hot Chili Pepper 角椒牛肉絲: Large portion, very flavorful, the fresh green peppers are even a little crunchy, which is interesting. If you can handle spice, you'll probably find it quite appetizing. Ma-po Bean Curd 麻辣豆腐: Not very spicy, the tofu is smooth and flavorful. However, the Sichuan peppercorns are a bit over-fried, you can taste a slightly bitter aftertaste. Braised Pork Shin in Brown Sauce 冰糖元蹄: There's no such thing as a bad pork shin. This one was stewed until incredibly tender, practically falling off the bone, with a pure, non-greasy flavor. However, to be honest, the sweetness of the rock sugar and the color of the sauce were just average. Sauteed Chinese Squash 清炒絲瓜: As a Cantonese, my favorite thing is still green vegetables. Lightly thickened with cornstarch, it was refreshing and smooth - a very standard dish.
