i only came here coz hey tea's line. the tea here is ok/mediocre. happy to have tried but wont return.
Not overly sweet so although I got my drink full sweet it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It's tailored to Asian palette so not bad, although the boba was not as soft as the best places I've been to in California do it. Maybe I'm a boba snob idk. That said, decent place for studying but because we just came in to a drink, it did the job. Recommend. Not sure how it stands compared to the surrounding boba shops but not bad on a hot day.
When I saw this new bubble tea spot when walking down Newbury, I couldn't help but try it. The inside was clean and nice - decent amount of sitting room which was nice to know. I grabbed my drink to go and was in and out within a few minutes - quick and easy. Service was fast and there were no issues. The drinks itself was fine, good quality and nothing too special or memorable - just a solid drink. I wouldn't mind coming back to this spot if in the area again, it just adds to the plethora of bubble tea options on Newbury.
Decent drink, I'd give it a 3.5. The brown sugar bubble milk tea tasted a bit diluted, but not a significant amount. The boba was soft and very sweet. Inside had nice decor with a few tables. Plenty of drink options and friendly service.
I tried the Caramel cake mlik tea 焦糖蛋糕奶茶 as it's one of the popular ones. It's interesting, I wish the caramelized sugar is less burnt and thicker. Also, the cream they put is on the top and it's hard to mix with the milk tea. The milk tea has little tea flavor. The reason for 4 star is that they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy the drink.
There are so many bubble tea spots in the area so I only recently got to try Mr. Tea. I was impressed by their menu which has a big variety of teas, smoothies, and toppings. I decided to try the soy milk cheese foam milk tea ($6). It had a very rich, creamy, almost savory flavor. The tea flavor was strong as well. Definitely not a watered down drink! The servers were very helpful and friendly. There is actually a lot of seating inside the cafe so it would be nice to do some work by the window while people-watching.
Great place to go to quench your thirst after biking to Boston. Recommend their wintermelon series.
No complaints here! Thai ice tea is pictured and it was absolutely perfect. Added boba for fun, too, which was a nice option. The cup seems to be reusable, and it was a great portion size for the price! Service was excellent and the shop is adorable.
Service was great. The staff were nice, and my drink was made very fast. The menu is kind of weird, I'm not sure why they have their "bubble milk tea" which is milk tea with boba priced more than if you get a "milk tea" and add boba. They rang me up for the pricier one :/ When I got the drink, the lid was cracked where it was put on. I guess it was slightly too small for the cup. That makes it not very secure, but it wasn't a problem for me since I didn't take it to go. The milk tea was oddly creamy and thick. Something felt off, and I got a headache ~half an hour after drinking it. Also the boba was a bit too chewy for my taste. I didn't have a good time, and I definitely won't be back. But the indoor seating area is nice, and it was a good spot to sit down and chat with a friend. I'm just not risking another headache.
Wednesday , 26 , 2025 . I order 2 drinks (bubble tea) at 4:00 pm , both of them tasted like water . Only one young girl with glasses work by herself thats why she is not happy . Please owner make sure you double check on this. I was choosing you guys because u doing good more than teazi and heytea on Newbury st but today im very disappointed
Super small boba but not quite tiny boba. Like almost two fit side by side into a boba straw. Different than other spots around the area, unique texture profile in that regard. Sizes seem to be constrained to the drink itself, so regular milk teas are 500ml and some specialties are 700ml. Classic Bubble Milk Tea - it was interesting to see this being 5 cents more than a Classic Milk Tea with Boba added but I guess that's a convenience fee. Boba was tiny and undercooked, so firm with a small surface area, a bit strange. Milk tea was solid though, creamy with a good black tea after taste. Maybe a bit Hong Kong style as they play HK music but not a strong influence. Overall fair drink but boba was not good.
If you're looking for a cute little spot to sit down and relax with a cup of milk tea, look no further! The interior of this little Newbury St. brownstone looks almost like a coffee shop, with some cute decor and a few tables and chairs for hanging out in. The prices here aren't too bad compared to other nearby spots - most milk teas here are around $5 (not including boba). I ordered their taro milk tea with boba here, which was delicious and exactly what I'm looking for in a drink. It had the perfect amount of sweetness (after I asked them for 50% sweetness) and not an overwhelming amount of ice. I really enjoy my experience every time I visit Mr. Tea and will definitely be back!
The tea and smoothie we ordered were good, but the language barrier resulted in getting sweetened tea when I asked if the sakura tea was unsweetened and tried to communicate several times that I did not want sweet. I got sweet. We were on a schedule so I didn't have time to ask for a different drink. We also asked several times if the smoothie drink is sealed but our cashier couldn't answer us. The manager (?) came to the rescue and said yes to the seal, but unfortunately even he gave me the wrong info about the Sakura tea. The stacks of boxes in the aisle leading to the restroom & walls lined with merch ads screamed "stereotypical asian tea shop" to me and I am not mad about it. The drinks weren't bad, just not what I wanted. If you don't want sweetened teas, double triple check! read more
For whatever reason, Newbury Street seems to be a hotspot for boba. That means plenty of competition... and I'd say this spot lands squarely in the middle. They have all the usual options and I went with the Taro Milk Tea with boba. Honestly, it was pretty average, nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either. That being said, the interior of the shop was fairly nice and modern and the location can't be beat, of course. If you're looking for a quick caffeine hit, this place will do the trick. No issues with the service, pretty standard for a tea place. Just don't expect anything overly unique or interesting. read more

I am person on a mission to try every boba shop in the United States or city of Boston. Yesterday I chose Mr. tea located above another great establishment Crazy Good kitchen. The ambiance of the place reminded me of someone home turned into a cafe. However seeing the fireplace with all trinkets reminded me something came out of episode of downtown abbey or Who's the boss. Looking over the menu saw this place had the same thing as any other boba tea place I've visited in the past. I decided to order the Pineapple Coconut smoothie milk. The end result it was okay nothing special it tasted like a a virgin pina colada. The staff was very friendly and services was pretty quick because i went during the week. read more

Another boba tea place located on Newbury St. This place caught my attention because of the name. I tried their Rose Oolong Tea and it was pretty good. I did enjoy the quality of tea here. I definitely taste the tea flavor. The cup it came was also pretty cool as it had like a lid to cover the hole. read more

This is a nice little hidden tea shop along the bustling Newbury shopping streets. We ordered the Black Gallons Smoothie Cheese Foam & Soy Milk Cheese Foam Milk Tea. Both were really good and better than I had expected. The Black Gallons drink was really unique to me because I rarely see grape drinks! read more
One of the worst boba places I have been to regarding both the drinks and the service. I got a rose oolong tea with lychee popping boba, which literally just tasted like water. The color of it did not look right at all. It was hard to like the boba either because the tea was so bad. When I told the employee that the drink tasted like water, she seemed annoyed. After a moment of silence, she asked if I wanted another drink in a rude tone. Her attitude was really uncalled for. I ended up getting a caramel tiramisu milk tea, which tasted overly sweet. Never going back here again. read more
A super cute boba place on Newbury that cannot be missed! I stopped by Mr. Tea on a Sunday afternoon and found plenty of seating available. I ordered the caramel milk tea and my partner ordered the four seasons. The caramel milk tea was delightful and tasty! I did not expect the top to be caramelized like crème brûlée - that was definitely a nice touch. I ordered it with 25% sugar and that was perfect! My partner's drink was so refreshing and it came with fruit chunks that you can eat after. There's a 15% discount if you show your student, staff, or faculty ID. I'm looking forward to trying more of their drink offerings! read more
Not to busy on a Friday afternoon and I am always trying different boba shops to see if they are good or not. I ordered a drink with no sugar and it still was a little sweet and I included boba in my jasmine tea which was delicious. Bobas weren't too bad as they were hard or warm. Service was nice and drinks came out in a timely manner. Decent amount of places to sit within the restaurant. read more
OVERALL RATING: 4.5 AMBIENCE: - Came here during the winter time and wow what a cute little coffee shop! They really decked it out with the Xmas decorations with their own tree and fake fireplace. Very cute and perfect setting for that winter-foodgram SERVICE: - The counter people were very nice. They greeted us when we came in and we honestly took 5ever trying to figure out if those mouses they serve are cute enough to warrant $10 (!!!) but they never rushed us. - Boba drink came up really fast. Granted it wasn't busy FOOD/DRINK (PRESENTATION/TASTE): - Original Bubble Milk Tea (50% sugar): Honestly, this is one of the better boba places that I've tried in Boston. I love how strong of a presence the oolong tea was given - one of the strongest tasting ones I've had so far. I wish it was a little bit smoother though, the texture was pretty watery (although the taste wasn't!). Maybe bc I've been to Tiger Surger 100000x that I'm used to a creamier milk tea now haha. I also ordered 50% less sugar and thank god. I don't have a sweet tooth but this honestly tasted like normal sugar level to me! I can't even imagine what 100% sugar would taste like! OVERVIEW: - I would come here again. Cute ambience and it seemed privately owned. Great oolong tea taste. Def need to order 50% sugar or less every time from now one though! read more

This is probably my favorite boba shop aesthetic on Newbury Street. It feels so cozy, warm, and comforting. As for the drinks, I love the menu of simple yet unique drinks for diverse taste buds. My drink had layers to it, and everything blended so well together. I praise this boba cafe for it's consistency, simplicity, and coziness read more
Of all the boba shops along the big and long Newbury Street, we decided to give Mr. Tea a try. When you walk in, it's almost like a dark academia library vibe with the dark wooden interior and LED fireplace. Right when you walk in, there will be a big poster board on the wall on the left with all of their drink items. Very helpful for people who usually struggle to see the TV screens at most boba shops. I had milk tea from Royal Tea earlier so I wanted something more refreshing this time. I decided to try the Blueberry Strawberry Smoothie with boba. Regardless of the long line of customers they had, the workers were very fast. They were calling out numbers as if they were counting regularly. Big shoutout and applaud to them! I got my drink fairly quickly for a blended drink, at most 3 minute wait. You could definitely taste the sourness of the blueberry and sweetness of the strawberry, as it's fresh fruit most likely blended with tea and ice. The texture of the boba is great, firm but chewy and it didn't taste like it was over soaked. I would have to try more variety here to give it 5 stars, but overall a great place to go! read more

I got the red pomelo (grapefruit) drink and it was delicious. They even add in the grapefruit slices into the drink. It was pretty busy when I went (on a Saturday). They give 15% student discount. read more
I usually don't review boba shops after only one visit/drink, but I really liked my experience today at Mr. Tea so decided to leave a review! As other reviews have stated, there's a good amount of seating and nice ambience with the music and lighting. I haven't historically enjoyed tiramisu milk teas at other boba shops but I enjoy the dessert so I decided to try Mr. Tea's version. We got the caramel tiramisu milk tea with boba, 50% sweet less ice. It was the perfect sweetness and the boba texture was good. I really liked the topping foam which had some sort of caramelized/maybe blowtorched texture on top. Not sure what it was but it was very tasty. I would definitely get this again. Looking forward to my next visit! It seems every time I visit Newbury St there's another new boba shop. This is definitely my top for milk tea on Newbury St! read more

Stopped by for a drink and I ordered the jasmine fruit tea but not my favorite. The jasmine tea was too strong that covered the fruit flavor and lack of fruits in the drink. I will try another drink next time if I have no plan to go to other boba tea in Newbury St. The desserts were good and the prices were decent. I probably stopped by to see what they have for desserts since it seems they changed their desserts once in a while. read more

Newbury street is filled with boba options, but Mr tea has been one of my favorites so far. The menu can seem a little inflexible compared to certain places (options for things like milk, toppings, tea choice etc are all pre-comboed), but the quality of the tea was good overall. read more
