This is not your Aveda-style spa. Expert massage technique trumps style and pampering here. It's a warehouse, but not super-chic, just very down to earth and comfortable. Which was great for a casual afternoon when I didn't need any locker room to put myself back together after the treatment. Marco was my therapist, and he really listened. More than that, he felt how my neck/shoulder was responding to his work, and he did some techniques on my shoulder I'd never had before - and I have brought up this same issue every time I get a massage! I have been a client at Chicago Touch for over 5 years. With the great package deals that Chicago Touch offers, you can't find a better price in town for the five star massage you will receive. My active lifestyle of tennis, hiking, skiing, scuba diving, travel, and owning a medical practice puts some tension on my body. So i try to get a massage on a regular bases of about once a month. When i discovered Chicago Touch, initially on on Ashland avenue, i right away knew that i will become their loyal custumer for a long time. At this point, i tried every therapists, they are all great. But I am most impressed with Michael. He is very professional, talented and extreamly knowlegable individual. On my last visit, i went in because a sinus infection wore me down and my whole body was soar. When i arrived, Megan (the friendliest receptionist you will ever meet) already had the steam room preheated to 104F for me. After half an hour in the steam, i was ready for some problem oriented deep tissue massage. Michael attentively listend to my complaints and immediatly came up with a plan to resolve my ailment. His extensive knowledge in musculoskeletal and lymph systems allowed him to work on the points of tension in my body to yield immediate results. As if it was not enough that i was already breathing out of my both nostrils and the soar muscles were forgoten, Michael discussed the appropriate diet to further boost my immune system and tips on psychological well being. That is one thing that always puzzled me about Michael, he knows things about your emotional status by understanding the knots and kinks certain emotions create in our bodies. I get massages about twice a month, so I know how a massage should be. I have never felt so dirty. The ma sues who was giving me the massaged was giving be a sensual massage not therapeutic and exposed my body in a way that was inappropriate. He was trying to touch me in areas he should not even go close too. I was felling sooo uncomfortable. When I told him to work on my upper body, shoulders and neck he started to massage very hard and with no oil and his nails where digging into my skin. That only lasted for about 10-15min. I got up and stopped the massage. When I told my friend who was there also getting a massage she new the ma sues It was Michael the owner of Chicago Touch. How dare he take advantage of his clients . This place is ok if you can't afford to go elsewhere.. but for the small price upgrade at Urban Oasis (on special), the difference was unbelievable. The massage was 10x better, the surroundings were actually nice, and I was able to take a relaxing shower afterwards. Had a massage here tonight after a terrible back spasm. They fit me in and gave me a great therapist who completely focused on all the problem areas. Michael is fantastic. I've gone to him a few times (and tried a number of other places in town), and he is hands down (ha!), the best. I have some recurring pain in my neck/back, and he always seems to fix it during one 50 minute session. That generally lasts a couple months, whereas at other places, it sneaks back up on me sometimes within a few days. After getting some massage coupons/gifts, I'd thought I'd found someone almost as good (and closer by), but the minute I returned to Michael's hands, I remembered how far superior he really is. read more

Chicago Touch is a welcome addition to the West Loop neighborhood. I started running recently and have a bad habit of not stretching....in the olden days, no problemo...however, now it leaves me barely able to get out of bed (which would also include getting on a massage table). This is where Marco my masseuse comes in. I told him my body woes and he got right to work. He had all sorts of techniques that left me being able to hop right off the massage table at the end. He did do this weird thing that involved massaging my arm pits (yes- I am super ticklish), but I have to admit it did feel pretty good when it was all said and done. It was easy to get an appointment and the receptionist is super friendly. So, why am I giving Chicago 4 stars vs. 5....well, the parking here is not ideal. I kept worrying that I would not find a place to park (my gym is around the corner and during the 5-7 time frame it is near to impossible to get a spot). When I did park, I was concerned about the possibility of ticket/tow. Neither did happen... One other tiny con is that you don't get the robe and shower that comes with most spa massages. However, my overall experience at Chicago Touch was a good one and I will definitely be returning! read more

Chicago Touch is great! I had the most wonderful experience there. The young lady at the front desk was so incredibly nice and made me feel at home. Allison did my massage and was it ever a great massage! I was in heaven! I've paid twice the price for massages at higher end salons and I can honestly say this massage was as good, if not better, that those ones I've paid so much more for. Allison asked questions and made sure to tailor the massage to my needs. There have been some complains in other reviews about the openness of the massage rooms but it didn't bother me at all. Moms...get over to Chicago Touch now! I was a regular client at Chicago Touch at the old location, when I had all the time in the world. Then I had a baby and as a working mom have had no time for myself, especially for "pampering". I finally realized when I started experiencing back pain for the first time in my life that I needed to visit my friends at Chicago Touch because I knew they could help. And as soon as I got there, I knew I wasn't just going to be pampered. It was a necessity. After an hour with Michael, I felt better immediately and continue to experience less back pain than before (and yes it did of course feel like pampering to lie down without any responsibilities and have someone else do all the work for once!). I instantly new I had to buy a package and start coming regularly again. It is worth every dollar. And the new location was a treat. BEST PRENATAL MASSAGE EVER!!! I've had prenatal massages before and they've been just ok. They tend to be too gentle for me. I was booked with Angelica and she worked me out! My back was aching from being 32 wks preg, having a 1.5 yr old that still insists on being carried sometimes, and carrying purses, bookbags, and such. I now feel so refreshed, at peace, and relaxed. Attention pregnant women: Went for a prenatal massage and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Pregnant women in Chicago need to see Marco. I left feeling relaxed and not an ounce of pregnancy aches or pains...what an awesome feeling! Price was incredibly reasonable. This is a no frills experience, but it was clean and professional. Neighborhood felt a little sketchy, but upon arrival I asked the receptionist if she could help me call a cab when I was ready to leave. To my delight when I went to pay, the cab had already been called on my behalf without having to ask again. Service was excellent. read more

Upon walking in for my massage, I was told my therapist (Lee) could not make it to our session as she had a personal issue. Also, I was told, there were no therapists available for the next 3 hours. Talk about a bad first impression. However, thanks to some quick thinking by Amelia, who placed a call to a therapist (Angelica) on her day off, I was back on schedule and had an enjoyable massage. I started having massages at CTabout 15 months ago, not long after a hip replacement. This place is GREAT. Its serious treatment not just a fancy birhtday-spa-experience. It is focused on whole body wellness. I buy the package deal -500 mins for $360 - and share it with a friend. It's a steal. I love CT's simplicity and down-to-earthiness. The set up is unsophisticated but all you need for a good treatment. The lighting is low, the music soft and the aroma of oils, gentle. CT keeps costs down so that anyone can afford to have massages more than a few times a year. I also enjoy the variety of therapists. I like and need a firm massage. I came twice for a massage after some rigorous athletic activity and saw Dara both times. She was amazing - they were two of the best massages I had ever gotten, better than Urban Oasis and other more expensive massages. The atmosphere is great, very simple and relaxing. Its a small space in a safe area on the west side easily accessible by train with plenty of parking around. For $60, the 50 minute massage was an amazing deal, since the increase (now $75 for 60 minutes) it's still a good deal for an amazing massage - unfortunately, I'll just have to go less often. read more

For Mother's Day I bought my wife the package which is 10 massages for $360. Actually, I told her to go for one and if she liked it I'll get you the whole package. I made sure that I checked it out first because for what amounts $36 per 50 minute massage before tip sounds ridiculous. Place looks fine to me. Not a fancy spa but if you really think it's necessary to pay an extra $50 an hour for a large bathroom go for it. Anyhow, she got home last night and said the woman there named Fran gave her probably the best massage she has ever had and my wife has had quite a few to compare it to. And I asked if the place was nice enough and she said it was exactly what she needed it to be. Then she said "I wish I could get a massage there every day." And I said, "Everyday for the next 9 days." BTW, with tip it's the same price as the student massage school downtown where my wife took massage classes for a year. I think it's so reasonable b/c it may be a coop or something but who cares. Check it out. read more

I went here with a gilt city deal and wow was it worth it! For starters I had a mid morning appointment and thought parking would be easy, but boy was I wrong. I called and they let me park in one of their spots in the alley and the receptionist let me in through the back. Free parking in this city is always a win in my opinion! The gilt offer was $65 for a 75 minute massage. I was assigned Angelica and she was UNREAL! She really paid attention to the areas that I requested and did a lot of different techniques including thai (which I had never had before but definitely appreciated!) and hot stones. She reminded me of a true healer and incorporated eucalyptus into the oils. I left feeling extremely relaxed and refreshed. I have had quite a few massages (I try to go once a month) and would consider this massage up there with the best ones that I have had. I would definitely return here. I am a big fan of Reiki, and while I have a fantastic practicioner at another spa, I figured upon seeing so many great reviews that I would give them a shot, maybe they would be able to approach my problems from a different angle. The session was definitely different than I am used to, and frankly, I did not experience the same positive results I usually do. Perhaps a big hindrance was, as others have mentioned, the open setting. Although it was only 10 am on a Sat and they had just opened, I heard every step taken, every door opened, and pretty much every breath everyone took in the place, and thus I could not relax and focus my energy on being healed. I was quite distracted, and the experience was ruined for me. The session was cheaper than other places, so I suppose I should have adjusted my expectations accordingly. Also, I am always quite sensitive to noise, so perhaps this would not be as much of a bother to someone else. I am not holding it against the practicioner, she was fine (and bonus for wrapping my feet in a warm towel at the end, that was great), and obviously the set up of the place is beyond her control. I do appreciate that they are trying to make these arts affordable, and I guess the issues I raised comes with the territory, but I personally would rather pay a little more and have a quiet, serene experience when I am trying to heal. read more

Wow. I just got a massage from Marco today, and of the 4-5 professional massages I've gotten in my life, his was by far the best. It was also the most... different. It involved a lot of moving my limbs around, bending my torso in various directions and applying sustained pressure to certain trouble spots. It hurt quite a bit at times. So, it wasn't exactly the kind of relaxing, zone-out spa experience you might expect. In fact, in some ways it seemed more like physical therapy. But Marco worked wonders. I can do movements now--like touch my chin to my chest--without pain, which I haven't been able to do in years. I am amazed and grateful! The best (and cheapest) massage ever! read more

I started going to Chicago Touch a few years ago (as it is right down the street from my place), but for monetary reasons, I had to put the kibosh on massages. Lately, however, my back and shoulders have really been killing me, so I stopped by today on my way home for taking the "Blue Line Shuttle" due to the busted El (that's a story for a different review, of course), to see if I could be fit in right before the busy holiday season. Not only did they fit me in, the very nice receptionist told me they had a masseuse ready for me then and there, and, I didn't even have pay the $5.00 walk-in fee. As if this wasn't rad enough, I ended up with Carlos. Ah, Carlos. You might be the most amazing masseuse I've ever known. You see, I usually spend too much time during massages being a little disappointed; the massage NEVER seems hard or intense enough, even when I ask for more (I've got some serious work tension to relieve, folks). I never had a moment-nay, even a flicker--of that disappointment with Carlos. He gave the most intense, thorough massage on the knots in my back that I have ever had. I was really blown away. If you ever have complained that a massage is not hard enough, Carlos is the man for you. read more

Massage therapy has been in my life since 1996. I have had more than 25 therapists over the years. Allison Haslett at Chicago Touch is one of the BEST I have ever used. Many people say they are "trigger point therapists" because trigger points are the natural points that indicate pain. Since being with Allison, I now realized that my former therapists had no real clue. She has been specifically trained in trigger point therapy which is much different than your typical massage therapist. I've been with her five weeks now. My entire body feels 100% better. I have had a history of extreme tight trapezius and neck muscles. In fact, I can no longer get adjustments to my neck because the curve is now gone. Adjustments absolutely kill me because no one ever told me that if your neck muscles are too tight, the adjustments won't work. This is what I have been doing for the past 10 years. I have even had trigger point injections in my neck and back. Now with Allison doing trigger point work on my neck, it is moving again like a normal person. I am sooooooooooooo grateful that I found her!!! After a car accident last year, I have been through 6 massage therapists, 4 physical therapists, and a host of Chiropractors. She is the only one who is truly helped me. She knows exactly where the pain is before you tell her. read more

My massage was with Annie, who asked me a lot about my pain and tension before my treatment and used a special trigger point therapy technique that I've never had before. I just want to move in here and get a massage every day. Seriously. I have been here several times and if I lived a little closer I'd be there way more often but I have to say, I have always had great massages here. I've had many different therapists. Marco Carlos, Dan, Allison and one other woman whose name I can't remember. RATS! Anyway, they each have their own unique approach to masssage and each experience has been very different. I can honestly recommed any of these therapists. My personal favorite was Dan because he really addressed my specific problem areas. Although, our schedules haven't meshed since the first time I saw him. Oh well, one of these days. I only have 50 minutes left on my package before I have to buy another. But I will definitely buy another. It's affordable and awesome. I don't even mind the open atmosphere that some other reviewers have mentioned. read more
