Booked a $130 massage with a $30 cupping add-on, but wasn't told until I arrived that they couldn't do actual cupping only a different version. That should've been communicated beforehand. I was faced with accepting the change and staying even though I really wanted to try cupping or leaving and facing a cancellation fee. I felt trapped. The environment itself was fine although I felt like I was snapped out of relaxing a handful of times from people upstairs and doors opening/closing in the hallway. Massage itself was good/decent but inconsistent in some areas. Checkout felt awkward, with a lot of emphasis/pressure around tipping and packages. I was told to just sign so when I did she asked if I tipped and there wasn't a way to go back. I just tipped cash. Overall, not a bad massage, but the lack of communication and pushy upselling left a bad impression and made me uncomfortable. I'll likely try somewhere else before coming back if I do. read more

My husband bought me a gift certificate May of 2024 for my bday. Certificate itself nor website at the time said anything about expiration. Life gets in the way and surgery happened, so I didn't attempt to use it until a few days past expiration May of 2025 when I visited their website. Saw that they now had a one year limit on gift certificates. I contacted them via their site and gave circumstances, stating also that it had JUST expired and had none when it was purchased... Never got a response. So they got $200 for nothing. Not the way to build a clientele. read more

I don't like leaving less than stellar reviews, but after sitting on it for a few days, I'd be remiss to not be honest about my experience at Be Well. Let me start by saying that the actual massage itself was great. No issues there. Street parking was also free and easy to find, which is always a plus in Chicago. However, I had to deduct a couple of stars for the following reasons: 1) There's no way to make an appointment online so you have to either call or send an email. Nobody answered when I called so I sent an email. After some back and forth with trying to figure out my schedule, they told me on Friday morning that they had an opening on Sat at 1:30pm, and asked for my phone # so they could finalize the appt. I wrote back a half hour later (around noon) with my number, but I didn't get a call until almost 7pm that night. At that point I had given up hope that they were even going to call me. 2) I have been really stressed out at work lately so I was looking forward to getting a 90 min massage. However, I wasn't able to fully relax because my massage room was located directly underneath what sounded like heavy-footed children who kept running back and forth in the unit above me. I saw someone else mention this in their review from a few years ago, so it wasn't just a one-off situation. There was soft music playing in my room and I could still hear the thumping above me pretty loudly. It was incredibly distracting. 3) I saw that they had a 10% discount for first time customers listed on their website and the person I spoke to while making my appointment confirmed that I could use it. However, when I handed them the $100 gift certificate that my friends had gifted me, I was told that I could not get the 10% discount because it was considered "double-dipping." I'm pretty sure my friends paid the full $100 for my gift certificate, so I'm not sure how that's considered double-dipping for them. I could understand if I was trying to use a Groupon or some other deal that had already been discounted, but I wasn't. The cost of my massage was $165 so even if they had allowed me to use both the 10% discount and the gift certificate, I still would've owed a balance so it's not like I was trying to use the gift certificate to cover gratuity either. These things left a bad taste in my mouth, so I probably won't be going back to Be Well. read more

Called over one morning after waking up with excruciating back and neck pain and couldn't get in to my regular chiropractor/massage place. I was desperate. I was told they could fit me in that same afternoon and Michelle gave me one of the best massages of my life (seriously!). Not only did I walk out of there with my pain SIGNIFICANTLY improved, but I had that lovely dazed, slightly euphoric case of the dumbs that you get when you've had an hour of much-needed, long overdue relaxation. I was so pleased I booked another massage with Michelle for 2 weeks later and had a second wonderful experience. Quick, easy, and responsive via requesting an appointment through Yelp. It's a small, no frills place. But it's welcoming and has all the things that really matter. The massage therapist I had was AMAZE. Super nice, perfect amount of pressure, and thorough. I opted for the 90 minute massage and it was oh so relaxing. (And my back is 110% better.) Great massage! My spouse and I did deep tissue couple's massages last month, and I'd most definitely return. I asked for a firm touch and she certainly delivered. Mine was an amazing massage. He was so relaxed that he fell asleep in the middle of his. His light snoring was distracting me from my relaxing! My single only complaint was that since I didn't have my stuff with me (it was in my locker), I couldn't take full advantage of showering after. My brother gifted me a 90 minute signature massage here so I could take a day of R&R. Michelle greeted me and asked me about my daily activities and problem areas. I explained that I am on my feet most of the day and have had a herniated disk that caused sciatica previously. I explained that my lower back and legs are were I feel most soreness. She then had me lay on the table and began by adjusting me on the table. She then explained to breathe through any difficult tension which I did A LOT of and I'm glad I did. She worked thoroughly and got deep into my muscle. By the time I got off the table I felt lighter and painless. Afterwards we talked about what she noticed about my body and what I can do to help. My boyfriend and I booked a couples massage here recently. I was very impressed with this spa and the amenities it offers. Booking was easy- right through the Yelp app. After arriving for our appointment, we filled out some paperwork and then were shown the changing room. We were given robes and flip flops to change into. The robes weren't very good quality and itchy. Next, we spent some time in the dry sauna room; tea and water was provided. Then starts the massage- both of our therapists were absolutely incredible; by far the best massage I've had in Chicago. After finishing up, there's a steam shower to use which was a nice touch. The only other thing I didn't like about this place is it's underneath an apartment and there were incredibly loud children running around the entire time of the massage. I suffer from backaches from work and unfortunately, my masseuse retired in Virginia. Low and behold I happened to stumble upon this place during a walk and it has been on my list of "things-to-do" while in Chicago. I always request Jen when I come here. She will take the time to listen to your issues and even during the massage will ask if there are any adjustments to pressure she can make or temperature. I leave relaxed and less tense every time. The massages with Margaret and Chisato were amazing, they hit every part we wanted to focus on with perfect pressure. They ask you a couple times throughout the massage to see if you want more or less pressure. They give swedish massages, not like the chinese reflexology places that torture you. After the massage you get some water and get to take a steam shower with legit japanese shampoo/body wash. For those who haven't had a steam shower before, you actually want to turn on the water too, it's not just steam. I stood there for 5 minutes with steam before I realized that. It's a little pricey $200 for a couples massage (10% off for first time customers), but great for an anniversary or special occasion. Excellent experience. My husband and I made an appt for the couples' massage. My masseuse, Zoe, was fantastic, as was his (whose name escapes him). They were both tentative to the areas we requested, without forgetting about the rest of the body. After, they lead you to your separate shower rooms, where you can sit in the steam and soak it all in, followed by a rain shower. The rooms have all your showerly-needs: body wash, shampoo, conditioner, as well as a hair brush, hair dryer, lotion, q-tips, etc, for after. A refreshing end to an excellent massage. Also- make sure to show up early if getting a couples' massage, to ensure time for a steam before your massage. We got there right on the dot, so missed out on this part. No fault to Be Well though, I'm a procrastinator. *Side Note- try to avoid booking your appointment through Whittl, and just go straight to the source. Whittl is a second-party company they use to book online appointments, and the text messaging/emails are out of control! 2 text reminders and an email yesterday, 1 this morning before the appointment, 1 DURING the appointment which asked, "Enjoying your Whittl appointment?", and a follow-up email from them thereafter. My goodness, Whittl, SETTLE DOWN! If I were you, Be Well, I'd drop the second-party feature. Although your intent is convenience on the part of the customer, it's just straight-up annoying. You come here for a massage and you will definitely be happy! Since it's the holiday season my gf purchased us a couples massage and I've been on three or so massages before but this was definitely the best. First, they had us store our clothing in lockers and provided us with robes. We were able to meet our masseuses who greeted us kindly. Following that, they have a private sauna room where you can be with your partner and get relaxed for like 15 minutes. This was novel and I've never heard of/ seen a private sauna room like it--pretty cool! Afterwards we each got to choose our masseuses and tell them individually what we wanted. I asked my therapist, Cory, to focus on my shoulders and needed some help with my stomach too. He did everything with great pressure and spent a good amount of time on the target areas I asked for work on. It's awesome being accommodated! After the massage, they follow it up with a nice steam shower with Japanese shampoo and body wash. Again, it was unexpected to have a shower like that and it was so relaxing. Okay place. The owner, Rico, was very welcoming and my massage therapist, Eva, was good. Based on the 4 and 5 star reviews on Yelp - I thought the place would be much nicer, so I was willing to pay $98 for a 60 minute massage. Actually I used the Yelp deal - so the massage was $88. While it is not a calming beautiful environment, it is nice and clean. It'd expect to pay $50 for a massage like this. And they are plenty of places in Chicago to do so. I guess for $98 and the reviews I thought I'd be stepping into an environment like Nordstroms Spa- where a 60 minute massage is $100 - but the amenities are amazing. While the massage table was warm the air in the room was cold and so were Eva's hand - even after she rubbed them together to try to warm them. That was not great. Maybe this location is convenient for a lot of people. Rico hugged me on the way out - which was unnecessary. I wish them luck - they seem to be doing well. I wouldn't go back. Bravo, Be Well. Thank you for being 5 minutes away from my house and employing the highly skilled Chisato, who is a master at her craft. My bf and I did a Couple's Massage and I have to mention, that it is very difficult to find a place that does this in the same room. When we made the appointment, we chose the option of the dry sauna for which you have to arrive about 30 minutes earlier to enjoy, which is great because it doesn't take away from the table time. The place is quaint, clean, and private. I saw that there were 2 other lockers that were occupied and I was afraid I'd bump into another guest in the hallway in my short robe, but no such scenario occurred. It was a great therapeutic massage. My trouble area has always been my upper back and prior to coming here, no one other massage therapist has given it the (not-so-tender) love and care it needs. My pressure preference I filled out on my form was "firm". I'm glad there weren't cameras on the ground pointing to my facial expressions as she worked on all the knots in my upper back. She asked if I was okay and I lied through my teeth. This woman is my size (about 5 feet and small frame) but I'm sure she can take me on in a fight. I trusted she knew what she was doing and boy was I right. My back was sore for 2 days (but the GOOD kind of sore). And, it's been great thereafter. My back feels brand new, I didn't even realize how many knots I had and how tense I was. My posture is so much better now. I will definitely be coming back here on a regular basis. Massages can be intimidating for me. With a longstanding back/neural injury, they can often be more torturous than enjoyable. Not so at Be Well. I arrived a bit early for my massage, expecting to sit in the waiting room until my appointment. Instead, I was led back to a dry sauna room, with tea brewing and snacks waiting. I was casually instructed to take whatever I wanted into the sauna, so in went my magazine and I for 20 minutes of total relaxation before my massage even began. The massage itself was fantastic. The therapist was very knowledgeable about the specific areas where I needed the most work, and unlike a typical deep tissue massage, this seemed more focused on the pressure points that were causing me the most discomfort. Very custom tailored. Afterwards, clients can relax in the steam sauna/shower, where again a glass of Pellegrino Aranciata and a Korean cookie awaited me. The shower room is also stocked with any product you may need, even hair dryers, paddle brushes and styling products. I was really impressed by the awesome Korean products they had, so I asked while paying and my massage therapist very kindly made a list of places to find them! Rico and his wife, the owners, have done a wonderful job of creating an oasis. My entire stay at Be Well was rejuvenating, which helped me relax and make the most of my treatment as well as have a true escape, if only for a few hours. read more

Chisato did one of the best jobs at a massage I've almost ever had. I saw one review where someone gave a negative review because they didn't do a full medical intake (maybe you should see a doctor then) and complain about the sound of running water (which most people find relaxing. Don't know what her problem was, but I don't trust her review at all). Before the massage I had a really large knot in my left shoulder, probably about the size of a golf ball from what it seemed. It was very painful, if I tried to lift my laptop with one hand from at my side to extended straight out I couldn't get very far due to the debilitating pain. After the massage, I was able to do the same task without incident. I had a 90 minute massage and was completely relaxed the entire time. At one point I was so relaxed, despite the fact the massage was pretty deep and intense, my mind pretty much wandered off. I would highly recommend this place to anyone I knew and will probably not go anywhere else for a massage, so long as Chisato is still employed here. read more

It's more of a private day spa, than just a massage - there's only space for 3 people to be worked on, it seems, and it's appointment only, so you get the whole place to yourself. Here's how it goes - you start off with 20 minutes in the sauna. Then you take a shower in their awesome rain showers. Then it's massage time - which is great, more focused on pressure point massage than swedish style rubdowns. Then you relax in the break room, eating Korean cookies and drinking tea. Then it's a steam shower, and you're done. Everyone here was really nice, and it was a really pleasant experience overall. I was unfamiliar with the spa-style amenities and felt like I kept making wrong turns, but the owner and therapist were very friendly and helpful. I didn't book for a day of pampering- I booked an appointment because I had severe shoulder/back pain. They were able to book me the same afternoon that I called for an appointment. The massage was incredible- by far the best I've ever had. I had a signature massage and felt I got best of both worlds- treatment focused on my aching muscles and a super relaxing full-body massage. Margaret, my therapist, was terrific. You know it's a great massage when you practically stumble out of the door at the end, and I did. After a really stressful few months, I decided to treat myself to a massage but, since I'm a fairly recent transplant to Chicago, I had no clue where to go. I was wary of jumping on a GroupOn deal because what if I get there and it's dingy or creepy? Ewww...So, instead I chose Be Well based on their great Yelp reviews. I couldn't have been happier with my experience! I made a Saturday appointment for a 70 minute signature massage but did not ask for access to the sauna before. When I got there, the man behind the desk (from other reviews, the owner?) was extremely friendly and immediately offered me tea and made me comfortable. Since I was there early, he asked me again if I wanted to use the sauna and he prepared it quickly...I was very impressed he was willing to accommodate me like that even though I didn't give him advanced warning. It was very relaxing to sit in there with my tea for a few minutes before my massage. My masseuse was Chisato who took some time to ask me exactly what I wanted - how much pressure, focus spots, any injuries to be careful of. She listened to what I said and gave me exactly the massage I wanted and needed! She made sure to check in a couple times to see if I was happy. Oh, did I mention heated towels? HEATED TOWELS!! There is nothing worse than dropping $100+ and getting a disappointing massage...there is also nothing more amazing than getting a wonderful massage! I scheduled a couples massage at Be Well after my boyfriend and I drove a 16 ' uhaul from San Francisco to Chicago. We needed some heavy therapy! The owner, is, I believe, also the receptionist. It was difficult to get a hold of anyone to make an appointment by phone, but I used the email address on their website and got a friendly response within the hour (a phone call was arranged through email). Rico was very helpful and professional, and was passionate about his spa. The place is small but very private. I think they book the appointments with plenty of time before/after for privacy, as I can only imagine they can serve no more than 2 people at a time. We arrived 15 minutes early to take advantage of the complimentary dry sauna. What a treat! There was cucumbered water, tea, and little cookies offered to us while we baked. Our massage was comfortable and relaxing.. we got the full 60 min we paid for. So many spas give or take (usually take) a few, so that was really nice. Afterward, we enjoyed a private steam and rainforest shower in separate, full amenity bathrooms. Aside from the changing room, which was a little cramped (its more like a closet), the facilities were amazing. The staff was professional and strong (one of the deepest massages Ive ever had!) and Rico was a pleasure to get to know. I will come back again. I recommend Be Well! read more

I surprised my husband with a Valentine's Day gift certificate for a couples massage. Julie responded to my E-mails very quickly and was extremely helpful in scheduling our appointment. I have had massages before, but never anything quite like this. After we changed into our robes, we were shown into a sauna for about 10 minutes. That was nice. Both our massages were excellent. Corey was my massage therapist, and I would definitely book with him. I don't recall the name of my husband's massage therapist, but he said she was wonderful, too, and worked on all his problem areas. Finally, we each finished up with a nice steam shower with beautifully scented hair and body products. It was a great experience overall. Really my only complaint (and it is such a minor one!) is that we were asked to remove our shoes when we entered the business. I'm not sure if it was because people were tracking snow and salt in, or if this is a year-round practice, but I was a but uneasy walking around the lobby in flip-flops. In the grand scheme of things, though, it was so minor as almost not to warrant mentioning. The environment was clean and comfortable (a major complaint with some of my past attempts at massages!), and the music was extremely relaxing. My boyfriend got me a 70 minute Signature Massage at Be Well for Christmas and my Birthday. This was my first time getting a professional massage so I was a bit apprehensive, but when I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly owner, Rico. I was immediately escorted to a warm sauna where I was allowed to bring in my tea and cookies along with a magazine. After relaxing in the sauna for 25 minutes, I received a full body massage that worked out every sore muscle in my body. The therapist really knew what she was doing. She worked out problem areas I didn't even know I had. Afterwards, I took a warm steam-mist shower with some great korean products I'm still looking to find. In the meantime, while I was being pampered, Rico took my boyfriend out for coffee. This was a lovely, unpretentious, family-owned spa. So I haven't written a review in a WHILE, but this was worth it. I came here looking for flaws since the other reviews were so glowing, and I'm a skeptic. Well, Be Well was everything it had promised to be. The Place: It's somewhere between clinical and spa (massage/facial, but no aromatherapy or body wraps). The shower was nice, but in a hall where I felt like everyone could hear me. The changing/locker area was also bizarrely small and led via a curtain to an awkward couples massage room that was not for me, but I got a robe and clean flip flops so it was just fine. The Massage: Chisato rocked my rocky bod. She was great about asking about pressure and trouble areas, but not too chatty. It was 90 amazing minutes of pure kneading heaven, worth every penny. I liked that it combined even pressure over-the-sheets massage and traditional swedish massage with a lotion. I think the table in there could use a skoot though, as she kicked the metal trash can a couple times, not so relaxing, but I had almost fallen asleep (for the first time every during a massage!) so it was probably good. The owner is fantastic about setting things up, no pressure to upgrade on anything and he's eager to please in a non-confrontational way. It was my birthday and he fit me in right away. I REALLY hope this place stays open, I can see an expensively good habit forming, though prices here are very fair. read more

My husband and I went to Be Well for couples massage after I had had a good experience there on my own several weeks before. We both enjoyed the experience. We had the place to ourselves, and had a good 30 minutes in the dry sauna, which was great. The massage was in the same room with a screen seperating our areas, so we could hear each other's experiences. I enjoyed it, but it might not be for people who are looking for something more private. My therapist was great, paying attention to the sensitive areas from past injuries and my legs, which needed some love after my morning run. We each had a steam shower after our massage, and were treated to water, tea, and cookies. I will definitely go back to Be Well. read more
