We came in for a 60-minute couples massage that we purchased from Groupon. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and professional, and we were brought back quickly for our appointment. The atmosphere is clean and bright, and the massage felt relaxing and enjoyable. I will say I left with a bit of back pain that lasted a day, but the massage didn't feel very firm. Additionally, the walls don't extend to the ceiling, so it can get a little noisy at times, and we overheard another customer talking with their masseuse for quiet a while. Despite those minor points, they made us feel comfortable, and we walked out feeling relaxed and cared for. read more

I got a Groupon for an hour couples massage with hot coals to try this place out. We arrived 10 minutes before our appointment and they took us in right away. They bring you into a room and tell you to strip down to your underwear. The massage is amazing. They ask you if the pressure is good a couple of times throughout the massage. The only thing I did not like was that the masseuse for my boyfriend kept leaving the room to get supplies but wouldn't say anything. I noticed without him saying anything because I heard her leave the room multiple times and even wondered if he had the same experience I did as it seemed that she spent more time outside the room. Overall it was great! We even paid for an extra 15 minutes. The time flies while you're relaxing. The hot stones were my favorite part. They ask you the temp you're comfortable with at the beginning so you won't get burned. read more

I have never had a bad massage at this place. Been coming for about a year and can't recommend it more enthusiastically. Everyone is wonderful and the price is well worth it. Scheduling is also very easy phone call and they accommodate to get you in, even at the last minute. Although I don't think you could go wrong with getting a massage from anyone here I would highlight the following: Nancy - really good deep tissue massage, great for those craving firm-strong pressure. Krystal- overall wonderful, intuitive Maggie- spectacular face and scalp massage Linda- fantastic total body massage read more

I've been to Pure Serentity for years and typically had great experiences but my most recent session was quite disappointing. The masseuse assigned used techniques I've never seen/felt and was actually uncomfortable during the massage. I asked her to stop multiple times due to pain and was relieved that it ended a little earlier than scheduled. I would have left early but was getting a couples massage. My partner enjoyed his experience but I wish I could say the same. The front desk did call back to hear my concerns. I would say 2.5 stars since half of us were pleased. read more

The experience was everything I hoped for. An inviting and nurturing experience. The staff takes very great care for you and overall great comfort. I highly recommend coming here especially for the VIP service with a very nice foot soak and very therapeutic full body massage. Crystal was such an awesome client and I give a great shout-out to her and I will be back For sure. Thank you Pure Serenity Spa! -Amani read more

Mars is truly the best masseuse I've had. He is exceptional at his job and listens intently on everything that needs to be fixed (and he fixes it!) Would highly recommend. read more

I write to once again express my appreciation for Mars, a very knowledgeable and experienced massage therapist I have been seeing. I came in with significant pain in various parts of my body including the shoulder, back, and hips. He found the areas of concern and after a 100 minute massage I felt that the pain had improved significantly. I encourage anyone who is looking for ways to address chronic pain to schedule a massage therapy session with Mars. He is excellent! read more

I came to this spot two weeks ago and you'll see I left a five star rave review. I was very confused how they were so many negative ratings because I had had such a great initial first visit last night. I booked a second appointment with pure serenity spa and this time, I was not walked over to the building across the intersection I was kept in the main location building. I had one of the most sketchy loud no. peaceful Massage. It was top five worst massages I've ever had in my entire life. You could hear absolutely everything, you could hear them massaging the clients in the next room. When my massage therapist greeted me she told me that she was so tired that she had been nonstop working all day I could hear her stomach growling during the entire massage appointment not only that she did the same maneuver over and over and over again probably because she was so exhausted from working all day After finishing our massage that I felt extremely guilty receiving. I asked her if she was done working and it was 7 o'clock and if she was finished for the day and she could not even walk me out of my appointment, she had to run into the next room because they already had another client waiting for her. I will never be back. I will never ever recommend coming to this location. I will tell you to avoid it I am shocked that they kept me in the building and they didn't walk me across the street. They are running two entirely different spa experiences. I received a foot soak, a gong bowl being dinged in my ear. I was told to breathe in and breathe out the second appointment I was put in a room with big signs talking about sex trafficking, and to be quiet. There was paper towels, and all this signage on the walls. I have videos and pictures. People were asking me if I was alive after leaving that appointment because the building was so creepy do not go here. read more

I want to start off by saying the actual massage I received was great! Mei did a fantastic job and I feel so much less tense compared to when I came in. I also want to note that the staff is very friendly. My criticisms are more so in regard to two things. 1. They didn't do a good job insulating the sounds from outside the room in which I got my massage. What I am referring to is I could hear sounds of other customers talking / exiting as well as staff entering neighboring rooms which makes it hard to fully relax. 2. Services are offered during the massage which again interrupts me relaxing. I think it's better to offer all services prior to beginning the massage so that way no disruptions have to occur, even if for a minute to offer these additional services. Overall, I'd be willing to give them a second chance and want to note that I used a Groupon which made it a great deal! read more

Enjoyed my massage here but a few things could be done to improve the experience: 1. At no point throughout massage did she ask if pressure was ok or if I wanted more. I did ask for a little more pressure but unfortunately the language barrier made it difficult for her to understand what I was saying. 2. The massage therapist kept leaving the room to get supplies without saying anything. I'd recommend having all supplies in the room ready to go with the exception of maybe the hot stones. 3. On a sheet prior to the massage they asked you to circle tension areas but then didn't really focus on them. Again I enjoyed my massage, especially the hot stones portion. The hour flew by! Check for coupons online to make their prices even more affordable. You can always add on once you're there too with essential oils or cupping. As others have noted, the walls don't go up all the way to the ceiling so you'll hear some noise from the other rooms and reception area. Nothing too disturbing though. read more

Came here for a couples massage and had a good experience! The ladies were both attentive to our tense areas. Spent a lot of time on my back, neck and lower legs, but spent no time at all on my quads, which I really wanted them to do. They also kept leaving the room for supplies and not saying anything about where they were going (which would have been nice to know what is happening). read more

Two of my girlfriends and I tried the scalp treatment at the new location across the street from the original. The service lasted a little over an hour and included relaxing mini massages. We loved seeing the before-and-after photos of our scalps--it made the experience even more fun! Overall, we had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back! read more

I would give zero stars if I could I came in and asked for a very gentle and slow massage. She was moving so quickly that my skin felt like it was getting rug burnt even after I told her to slow down I had to stop the massage and get ready to leave someone else came in. It was a little bit better but I was already stressed out from the first part read more

My 60 minute massage was in fact 30, with masseuse sneaking out at 30 minute mark, the owner shows up with a warm neck pillow to make an illusion for another few minutes, no manipulation at that point. At 40 minute mark, I am told "massage" is over. At 46 minute mark I am out of the room, fully dressed. I would stay away from this place. Total waste of my money. read more

I called in the late afternoon and was able to get booked for that evening. The team was so incredibly kind and attentive. I had Tori and she was great. She asked throughout the massage how the pressure was and was always ensuring I was comfortable. I'll definitely be coming back. Oh and the prices are so reasonable read more

Came for a 90-minute hot stone massage and had a decent experience. Making an appointment over the phone was easy. We were able to use a Groupon. The staff don't ask you about your body, any injuries, etc. So the service isn't really tailored to you. Though they did ask about allergies. The rooms were calming and clean. Though the walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling, so you can hear everything. Halfway though my massage, a pair of super giggly girls came in and it definitely took away from the experience. My massage therapist was good! She would constantly check in to see if things were okay. Though she would leave the door open when going to get supplies. It would have been nice if all supplies were just in the room ready to go so there was no need to leave. I also wished that the hot stones were used for a longer amount of time. It is a good massage for the price, but I likely would not come back. read more

Today, we had a couples massage. It was a great experience. We are feeling awesome now!!!! Yippee!

For what this place promises to deliver, it meets the mark. But you need to make sure you're going in with the right expectation. It's a solid option for a last-minute relaxing massage - don't expect the masseuse to be studied in anatomy and deliver a deep tissue massage. The front desk is friendly, place is clean though not fully quiet, massage is relaxing and the masseuse is good at taking requests. read more

Carrie provided an expert deep tissue massage for my knotted up back. Professional, pleasant and the spa is nicely set up. Not plush, but appropriate. read more

Have been coming here for years and was pleasantly surprised to see that they opened a separate space directly across the street. I had the upgraded massage with the milk and fruit foot bath and the lymphatic drainage. It was a spectacular experience. Linda and her team are amazing and accommodating. I went here as a gift from my partner about a month ago and loved the care and massage I got! I brought my sister back to enjoy the experience as well and I was very disappointed by the service. I was 11min late to my appointment and very apologetic but the care we got following definitely felt like reprimand. They paired my sister and I in the same room which was no issue and the one giving my sister a massage was talkative the entire time despite there being Quite signs all over the room. That same woman was also very harsh with my sister despite my sister vocalizing she was being rough. The person giving me a massage was tossing my limbs around like I had no feeling, dropping my hands and feet when he was done with an area. I would have rather they told me our appointment would need to be rescheduled or canceled than treat us that way :/ really sad and felt like we were in the presence of bullies. nothing like my first time. please don't be late to this place because they will make you regret it. I know my service is not needed for them to prosper but I hope they do take a look at this. read more

Wow! What an incredible massage at such an affordable price in the city! I was a bit hesitant at first, but after reading some positive reviews, I decided to give it a try--and they definitely exceeded my expectations! The service was punctual, and the 60-minute massage felt more like 90 minutes of pure relaxation. The only minor thing to note for future clients is that, at times, you can hear noise from the other rooms, but it's not too disruptive. I saw other reviews mention this as well, so just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, highly recommended! read more

"Pure disappointment at Pure Serenity Spa" I've had better massages from a broken office chair. I walked into Pure Serenity Spa hoping for relief and relaxation--what I got felt more like someone aimlessly rubbing lotion on me for an hour while watching the clock. Zero pressure, no technique, and I'm pretty sure the massage therapist forgot which muscle groups exist in the human body. At one point, I genuinely wondered if they were just stalling for time. I left more tense than when I arrived. If you're looking for serenity, go literally anywhere else. read more

I went here for a massage and had an enjoyable experience. The prices were decent and they had several specials running. It's not the most relaxing, spa like, environment however. The walls don't go all the way to the top of each of the individual rooms so you can hear people checking in and belt buckles as they undress in their own room. The massage itself was good and I left with my back pain gone. read more

I recently went for a couples massage over the weekend. This is my 2nd time going here and unfortunately, I was very disappointed. During my first visit, we had the opportunity to fill out a form and select specific target areas and level of firmness. This time around felt very rushed and we did not fill out a form. They asked my partner and I to pick a scent, which I figured was included in the groupon. It was not which cost $25 and I didn't notice the scent used during the massage. Additionally, they told me my partner needed cupping midway through the massage and said it would cost $35, but when we finished the massage, I was charged $72 because they charged an additional $35 for me to have 10 additional minutes of a massage. Had I known it was going to be that expensive, I would have requested to simply end after my 60 minutes were up. I felt very awkward because I was in the lobby and I felt like I couldnt explain that I felt blindsided by the additional cost with other customers waiting. I also offered a $20 tip and somehow the total came to $112 without an explanation. I am just very disappointed because I somehow ended up having to spend around $140 extra in addition to what I paid for the Groupon. I did not receive an itemized receipt so it felt as if they were just randomly adding extra charges without an explanation which seemed unprofessional. If you choose to make an appointment, just make sure to tell them you only want what is covered in the Groupon. read more

Excellent & reasonable unlike similar places like the NOW nearby. Highly recommend - 75 minutes flee by and was incredibly relaxing

Solid massage spot with plenty of customizable options. Folks here are friendly and knowledgeable. You will be able to get the standard massage you need and any add ons that you want. The space is pretty clean and definitely a relaxing vibe. Find serenity here! Pro Tip: Check groupon before coming for any special deals! read more

This is by far the best place to get a massage. Any therapist I've had has been amazing! I have probably had 20+ massages here and I cannot say enough about them! I found this place on Groupon & decided to try it out for oart of my husband's Bday weekend. They did not disappoint . The service was Marvelous but the parking was Terrible. I definitely recommend Pure Serenity for a great relaxing massage. #greatfriendlyservice... read more

Book this now! This was the most lovely experience we could've asked for during a hard week. We booked a couples massage and it it was so relaxing and they were so caring with every aspect. The full body deep massage covers it all! They know how you make you feel comfortable by first massaging over a sheet, and then remove it and use oils to focus on deep tissue. Feet masks, leg/lower body rubs, head massage and hot rocks and towels. The price was very much worth it and we can't wait to go back! read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a couples massage, it was easy to schedule over phone and we were able to get in the next day, and they gave us the Groupon deal (without having the Groupon). We arrived a couple min late but they were still turning over the room so we got our full 60 min session. Looking at their menu I personally felt the standard prices were not that bad. With that being said the walls in the massage rooms do not go all the way up, making the background noise very apparent. Obvi everyone try's to whisper and stay quite but you can hear people moving about and the guest in the room next to us forgot to turn off his ringer, so rude. Overall the massage was good and for the price, I think it's a great option considering the amount of background noise. read more

Pure Serenity Spa - Massage Therapy Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I had a great massage and will make this my go to place for massages. Here are some great tips: 1) They offer a handsome price package for a 90 minute massage and the price of the Groupon is technically the same price to book directly through them, so you don't really need a Groupon to get that price. 2) It says 90 minutes and it is exactly that. Please arrive well hydrated and on a nearly empty stomach because if you are dehydrated or on a full stomach it can cause sickness. 3) It is walking distance from the brown line Armitage stop, but if you decide to drive you are on your own with parking. You may as well call the darn tow truck and ask them to take your car because there's no where to park at all. You are going to be in there for almost two hours don't play games with the parking over there and if you aren't prepared to park far away and walk don't drive. 4) The quality of your massage depends largely on who does it. I had Linda and Tina and they were great. If you had a less than stellar massage with one person please keep in mind that they have a variety of options and you shouldn't judge the business based on one massage. The same way your employers shouldn't be judged based on one person. 5) The massage oils are a gimmick, hard pass. They are $10-15 for a tiny bottle and they don't smell as advertised at least not with my nose. They are suppose to be mixed with your lotion but if you smell the bottle and don't feel relax you can save your money. I sniffed a few bottles and felt it was not something that would be worth the investment. read more

Oh my goodness, I had the best massage here recently! I would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for a relaxing, detail-oriented massage. The staff at the front desk are so friendly and welcoming and make sure you feel comfortable. You fill out a form in the beginning indicating if there are any trouble spots or areas that need extra attention. My masseuse, Carrie, was so kind and made sure I was all settled in before starting. She also made sure to let me know that I could tell her if the pressure was too soft or tough. The room is dimly lit and has very relaxing music playing in the background. One of the best features is the free add-on of the hot stones, which felt amazing, especially after getting all the knots out. I didn't choose this, but there's an option to add on essential oils of your choosing if you'd like them. Overall, I thought the massage I got was super thorough and detail oriented. I felt so much better and so relaxed after she finished. I would definitely come back! read more
