This place is questionable. Went in for a normal 60 minute deep tissue massage, the masseuse was late and I was laying on the massage table for 15 minutes into my appointment waiting. She also did not listen when I said something hurt, or too much pressure was applied, leaving me very strained and uncomfortable for a few days after my appointment. Not relaxing at all. Additionally I was a bit uncomfortable with the masseuse massaging too close for comfort and exposing personal areas. Overall I wanted a massage to treat myself to relaxation after a long week but was left recovering from it long after the appointment. Also to note, the payment system is a bit odd, I was only allowed to pay via Venmo and forced to leave a 20% tip when I was already uncomfortable with the service and expressed my disappointment. STAY FAR AWAY!!!! AWFUL ISN'T ENOGH This wasn't just a bad massage, it was a deeply uncomfortable, humiliating, and ethically disturbing experience. The therapist was clearly struggling to breathe during the entire session. I asked if she was okay, and she quietly told me she had asthma. They knew this and still scheduled her to do physically demanding work in a closed room. She was gasping for air, and yet expected to push through it. That's not care. That's disregard for her health, and for mine. When I brought it up, the woman at the front desk cold, dismissive, and clearly annoyed walked into the room, left the door open while I was still undressed, and spoke to me like I was wasting her time. No apology. No concern. Just the same bitter energy she's always had. Then she said: "Yeah, we know about her breathing, but this is a business. You're past your time." As if I was supposed to be lying there watching the clock instead of, you know, trying to relax. That moment said everything: they don't value your experience, your comfort, or even their own staff. Only the time slot and the transaction. I ended up walking out in the middle of the session. I've been here before, and there's always a tense, uncomfortable energy around tipping, payment, and especially that front desk manager. But this was the final line. They do not care. Not about clients. Not about therapists. And it shows. Absolutely horrible. read more

Had a great experience. I've never had a massage before so I was pretty nervous/uncomfortable going into it, but the masseuse did a great job getting me relaxed and comfortable. It was pretty easy to make an appointment via phone--FYI you need to give a card number for the deposit when you call. Opted for the 90 minute bodywork with hot stones which was really nice. Chicago's best kept secret is Rose at Lang Ocean Spa. She gave me a phenomenal massage and showcased her skills during an excellent 90 minute thai massage. Rose walked on my back, maintained strong pressure throughout the session, and performed stretches on me I have yet to find anywhere else (and I've had a lot of thai bodywork). She was also warm, kind and made me feel like she had known me for years. Just the sweetest lady. Thank you Rose- I feel relaxed, grounded and pain-free. It was difficult to relax because I could smell the aesthetician's breath and what she ate for lunch. I was trying not to breathe deeply during the session so the experience was overall kinda gross. I got the couple's massage and it was excellent! I woke up the next morning feeling great. The masseuse really knew what she was doing and it was very peaceful. My partner however was very sore the next day (lmao) so don't be brave and say you can handle the hard massage if you've got delicate skin and baby bird bones. I opted for some of the extras and the hot CBD oil on our backs felt very good. Be prepared you should tip an extra $40 or so for each masseuse, so budget accordingly. read more

This spot hits the spot! The back and neck spot. Came here for a full deep tissue massage. Highly recommend! My masseuse was perfect with her pressure and hit all the right spots. I'd been sore for weeks in both my neck and back from either sleeping in a bad position or from my workouts. My masseuse used her hands, feet, and arms and the right pressure to alleviate all my sore muscles. I did a 90 minute, but could do a 60 minute every month or so. Definitely going back to maintain this great feeling of relief from sore muscles. For me, I'd give it a perfect 10. I'll be going back soon! read more

We visited this place in April for a couple's massage and it was the bomb! We walked in and down the stairs and were met by the owner's husband Jim. He got us settled with slippers and gave us some info on how everything works. In a few minutes, the owner June came out and took us to our room. For me I wasn't sure what to expect so it was comforting to have June get into the details about Thai massage. Our therapists were strong but one of them was good about asking how we both felt several times throughout the massage. We did a 60 minute session and it felt like we should have gone longer. Next visit we will part take of the 90 minute option. We both loved our experience and we will be back later this month. The owner mentioned their new Organic Facial as a new option. Great full body massage with hot stones. Deep tissue work was just right a little pricey but worth it

First, I have never done a Thai massage where they literally are walking on your back (which seems to be the typical style). The style of massage was okay (at one point she cracked my back without telling me and hurt me and startled me, they put too much pressure on my back and strained my lower back, and tailbone. For those reasons, this type of massage is not for me, and will not be going or returning. Also, the massage was a little painful, and NOT relaxing for me at all. read more

I'm surprised by how well reviewed this place is. It sounds like experiences vary a great deal by what room you're in and who you're working with. I booked a Thai massage, facial and body scrub. I was put in a small, dingy room and told to undress and lay down on a thin towel. I'd emailed asking what I was supposed to wear and was told to wear comfy clothes. I showed that to the person checking me in and she said it was wrong. I also thought Thai massage was on the floor, which is what I wanted because of the particular tightness and pain I've been having but was put on a table. The massage ranged from meh to painful, including a knee directly on my kidney. When I went on my back, a regular bed pillow was put under my head and stayed there during the facial and scrub. By the end, my neck and shoulder were in intense pain, because I had to angle my head up and there was no neck support. At the end of the scrub I was told to lay on my stomach and lay my head to one side on the pillow, which made it a lot worse. The facial is not something I would recommend at all. Until today I've never had a facial where products are rubbed directly onto your eyelids. The rubbing and pressure on my eyelids hurt a lot, especially because I had contacts in. Product also got into the corners of my eyes. After the scrub, I was wrapped in the top sheet like a sarong and asked if I was ok walking to the shower in front of men in the waiting room. I said it was fine because the other option was to just sit there covered in scrub. I wish I'd been told to bring my clothes, because I had to make the return trip in just a towel as there were no robes in the bathroom and the sheet had scrub all over it. Nothing felt very clean there. During the facial, worn out washcloths were rinsed repeatedly in the same bowl so each time one was used to wipe off a product, it had residue from the products in the rinse water on it. And the walls are very thin. I heard two different unhappy customers arguing with someone who worked there. It didn't seem to go well for either of them (another reason why I left without saying anything). I feel foolish for paying this much money to be grimy, sticky and in pain afterwards. There's gotta be better options out there at a similar or lower price point. read more

If you're looking for all the "floss" of a fancy Michigan Ave salon, where you spend a lot more and get a lot less this is not it. Super easy to book - I have really bad sciatica and told them before I went in - I walked out feeling so much better - and nearly a week later - so much better. What a wonderful and relaxing spa! I was visiting the city with a girlfriend and we got a wonderful tip from the Westin hotel to book Thai massage at Lang spa. I treated myself to 90minute with hot stones which was absolutely divine. My therapist (Per) did an amazing job and worked so many nots out from my neck and shoulders. Stretching can be intense but it's best to just breathe and let the professionals do they're good work. I needed something same day so the stars are for accommodating. The massage was basically an like going to a spa chair. No one introduced themselves or asked me my name or where I wanted to focus the massage on. One lady actually glared at me for interrupting whatever she was doing with my arrival. The room was dimly lit and every time I turned the light on someone came in to turn it off, creepy. Multiple ladies came in and turned off the light one did so while I was changing. At one point during my massage she started mumbling over my ankle and talking to herself. I asked her if she was talking to me and she just went silent. The unnamed masseuse then put the bedding on my face when I turned over and I had allergic reaction because it was so dusty. At hour 2 I still did not know my masseuse name but I donated a 20% tip. It felt like I was in Thailand and basically paid American prices for a very generic massage. I would sooner spend $200 on a nearby dispensary for candy than come back. I wish I could say you get what you pay for but it strikes me as one of those places that would like treat you differently if you don't look like the workers there :) read more
