My masseuse was very nice and helped me release knots and tension from my legs and back. Pretty clean facility, my only thing to complain would be about the noise. since it's almost like a loft like setting, you could hear people talking in the reception area. I love this place and have been coming for years. One of the best in the area! It's not a spa so you won't spa treatment but the massage is always great. It can be a little bit noisy during peak hours but is still relaxing and peaceful for the most part. The massages are great and focus lots on your feet but you do get a full body massage. I always leave here feeling refreshed and relaxed. The place is clean, cute, and it is so easy to make an appointment. I do their hour long reflexology and lately they have incorporated walking on your back....it's not very enjoyable. Other than that I like. I plan to continue coming. Another thing that has changed over time is that They have you remove your top and bra and cover yourself with a towel. I don't really think that's necessary. My friend and I went and it was a disaster. They never asked us if we preferred a male or female masseuse. My friend was the unlucky one and for the rude man. The employees were talking the entire 90 minutes, coughing without closing their mouths, yawning out loud, the massage rooms are filthy, the massage tables are very uncomfortable and the rooms were not sound proofed as we could hear everything from outside. The man who took care of us and handled the front desk was very rude towards the end, shouting to his coworker in their language and kept asking us how much we were tipping. I felt bad for his colleague as I could tell she was stressed after he raised his voice. He also kept leaving to answer the door, phone or to talk to other employees. Yes it was $70 but it was not a good experience at all. It wasn't relaxing at all because of the items above. I left more stressed than when I walked in. I do not recommend at all. read more

First off, I'm a foot massage n00b. Never had one, never thought about getting one, and only reason I did was because the lady wanted to get one. I definitely don't regret it. Some things I wish I knew before I went in or would recommend to others: -A foot massage is not just your feet. They give you a semi-full body massage and if you wear some type of loose fitting shirt that would make things easier. -There is a nice Groupon deal for a couples massage going on. -Call for an appointment, walk-ins can be difficult. -Experiences may vary since it depends on who is giving you your massage. I started seeing Melody when I slipped on the ice in a parking lot and twisted my back about a year and a half ago. I was hoping that the resulting back pain would just go away by itself, but after a week, it was actually getting much worse. I made an appointment to see Melody when she was with a different spa. She gave me some Deep Tissue work, and I walked away feeling much better with only a slight bit of discomfort left. After a follow-up appointment, my back was back to normal. During those sessions, Melody concentrated mostly on my back but also worked on my shoulders, neck, and head which she apparently found needed attention. This ended up addressing the tension headaches that I've been getting the past year, a surprise benefit I was not expecting. I started seeing Melody regularly since then, and when she moved to Smiling Sole, of course, I followed her. I recently tried Smiling Sole's Reflexology and Bodywork combo. I had never experienced reflexology before and Rose gave me a wonderful introduction. Melody did her great bodywork and the combination was beyond awesome. I highly recommend! read more

AMAZING reflexology for a decent price ! I live on the street behind this place & never heard of it until I saw it on Groupon. Some other Yelper said that this place is in a "shady" location which is completely inaccurate. Now if you cross over to the other side of Western going West, that's a different story. The 60minute reflexology was out of this world. My husband fell asleep and was snoring which was annoying since we were in the same room, but that just shows how good they are! I felt so relaxed and loved the stretching exercises incorporated. I will becoming back as a regular and recommending this place to family and friends! You won't be disappointed! On the other hand, don't get the $68 full body massage, it doesn't include massaging your feet which sucks when you have a job where you stand up all day. Most amazing massage I have ever had! Rose was tremendous ! I have been to so many places in Chicago - majority of them were B's at best- I especially enjoyed their choice of music( - it wasn't your typical massage elevator soft noises) I get as though her hands were dancing on my back. Let me start with it's not a spa, so you won't get the expensive treatment for under $100 right? Having that in mind, it's totally worth the amount of $ for this type of massage. One thing to consider is to always let them know if their pressure is too soft or too intense. Because I have had massages which I didn't enjoy because of me not telling them how I felt, what or where to focus on or a simple please don't massage me with your knees! Makes a huge difference with any type of massage. Now for the actual review, we knew about smiling sole by recommendation and it just happened that they had a Groupon deal. Our party of 3 arrived to smiling sole on a Friday at 6pm. It's a cute place and though these type of places usually have open areas it felt very relaxing, despite being there with many other customers. Staff was friendly, we were asked to change our shoes at the entrance (not sure what that was about, hoping they disinfect between uses) and we were taken to our massage beds. No complaints by any of us. I had Rose and she was amazing! Perfect pressure and very intuitive with my stress knots, as I told the receptionist, "she hugged my toes with her little hands" I know it sounds weird but she massaged my toes individually and held them in the process. The entire massage was great. The hot stone on our legs was an unexpected surprise which we all raved about. What a smooth hot rock can do. Again, totally worth the $ and $25 Groupon deal. Me and my family stayed in Chicago several weeks. Drove by Smiling Sole, Saw they have promotion for reflexology and full bodywork. We purchased $28/ 60 minutes reflexology. It was worth every penny and more for the foot reflexology, head, back, shoulders and legs... It's deep issue, pressure point , the best massage I ever get. And the people are very nice. First off I'll say that the masseuse was very nice. But I bought a Groupon for $23 for a 60-minute reflexology massage, which their website advertises as a foot massage. But he only spent about 15 minutes on my feet, which was the the reason I went there. Then, when there were 10 minutes left in the appointment, I asked if he could spend more time on my feet, he said I would be charged extra! Even though there were 10 minutes left! Every other massage place I've been to, asks you what you want focused on. Completely non-customer friendly. Will not be returning. read more

weak massage with staff that seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. I made a 90mins massage appointment. I arrived and was told I'd have 90mins. But ten mins into the massage the desk person came and told me "someone messed up and I couldn't have 90 mins but only 60mins." I pretty much had no choice. She came running back (audibly) to tell me a session had canceled and they could do my originally booked 90mins. (Seems like they booked someone to get more people and were gonna move me out early). I was never asked about how much pressure to use (light pressure, medium at best). I could hear street noise and all talking from the front desk. My therapist literally ran away twice.... interrupting the massage for no good reason. There are better places in Chicago. read more

My boyfriend & I went for my birthday to pamper ourselves. We both got an hour massage, 30 on the feet & 30 on the back & shoulders. The feet part was fine, but the back massages were way too rough for both of us. They seemed to be rushing & didn't relieve any tension at all, but instead added some from the hard gripping. Fantastic, and reasonably priced. My wife and I have been three times, and each time is great. The physical space is no frills, and while you can get private rooms, my wife and I have always gotten the semi-private areas - basically there's a row of massage "beds" in groups of two, and the groups are separated by hanging beads. For the 60 minute reflexology massage, you get a head & neck massage, around 30 mins of foot massage, plus arms, legs, and a little bit of back; you keep your clothes on. There are other packages you can buy as well, and some are probably more like the typical spa massage, where you take off your clothes and have a private room. I came here a few days after they opened and got the promotional rate of $28 for a 60-minute reflexology session, done through clothing. It started with 15-minutes on head, neck, arms and hands, followed by 30-minutes of foot reflexology that included work on the calves. Then it finished with 15-minutes on the back and returning to the neck at shoulders at the end. This rate is even lower than a typical Groupon rate on a one-hour service, so it's essentially the most affordable massage in Chicago, and the quality will surprise you.
