I locked myself out of my apartment this morning and called Chicago locksmiths for help. Paul arrived, opened the locked door, and fulfilled payment faster than the time it took for my neighbors to complete their morning dog walk. Very fast, courteous, safe service. Paul was very patient with my loud dog too! read more

Nathan was fantastic! Super knowledgeable and easily took care of all our locks. Would highly recommend this company!!

My key accidentally broke off in the keyhole...and on the night it was 5 degrees temperature outside. Yikes! I tried to remove it myself for 20 minutes but to no avail. I remember always passing by this neighborhood locksmith store. So I made a search and found them right away. I called the Logan Square store at 2048 N Milwaukee Ave, next day and spoke with Tanya. She was so positive and upbeat! We scheduled a 5 pm appt the next day. On the day of the appt., David, the technician, called 10 minutes prior to arrival. I purchased a new deadbolt lock because the old lock screws were stripped...and frozen, too. David removed the old lock, replaced it with the new one. He ensured that the new lock worked properly. David was very courteous, helpful, and on time, too! I showed some work that needs attention in spring. I will schedule them and request for David. You never know when a locksmith is required, but if so, then call Chicago Locksmiths. They have 3 Chicago-area locations. Great service all-around! read more

Robert quickly became my saving grace, after my Toyota key fell off of my key ring after an already exhausting 27 hours of travel! He responded right away to my call, and found my vehicle in the O'hare parking lot without difficulty. He explained to me the how the programming of a new key may affect my remote start, and he was able to problem solve a way to cut me a key which would not cause problems with the remote start. Now I can get back on the road and complete the final two hours of my trip and go home, without worrying about leaving my car at O'hare to accrue more parking fees. Thank you so much, Robert! read more

Alejandro was amazing. He rekeyed 3 locks for me and threw in a few spare keys. The service was quick and prices were fair! I will definitely use them again in the future if needed. read more

Highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths. I've never needed a locksmith before so I decided to call "Chicago Locksmiths" based on their 5- star reviews and they absolutely lived up to their reputation! Jonathan arrived within the window of time I was given and he was EXCELLENT, couldn't have had a nicer or more courteous person and extremely professional in his approach. Before he did any work on the door, he explained his process and exactly what he was doing. The cost at the end was exactly as it was quoted. I wouldn't think twice about calling Chicago Locksmiths again. Thanks to this company for a great experience! read more

Noah was amazing!! Fast, expert work, and found him to be extremely honest. He solved my problem and saved me $$ at the same time. I will definitely ask for Noah for all of my future door and lock issues!! read more

Awesome experience! Efficient, professional and did a great job with the job. Would definitely recommend and use again!

I'm surprised by the impressive Yelp rating for Chicago Locksmith - it's why I chose them. Unfortunately, my experience has been poor. I was just looking to get some locks re-keyed. My first appointment window came and went with the technician reaching out after the window had passed. I figured one mistake and rescheduled. This time the technician was on time and I was satisfied. I decided to schedule them for another job. And again, they don't show up in the scheduled 2 hour window. This time, I got a call saying the technician might be up to an hour late. I said fine. That time came and went. I had now wasted 3 hours of my afternoon waiting. I called and the receptionist said he would probably be ANOTHER hour. I said no thanks. In summary, 2 of 3 appointments they did not make the scheduled window. I will not have my time wasted by them anymore. If you value your time and people showing up when they say, then I'd look elsewhere. read more

[INSERT IRRELEVANT/AWKWARD BACKGROUND-STORY LIKE ALL THE OTHER COMMENTS] So I needed a locksmith to duplicate my motorcycle key. I always see this place on my daily commute on Milwaukee Ave. Bright and friendly storefront caught my eye quickly. Convenient that they're open early like 8/9am. Greeted by a very friendly and helpful employee Francisco. Prices are very great. Since I already bought a blank on eBay, he not only duplicated my motorcycle key for only 50 cents, he explained to me what the serial number on my motorcycle key represented. He even explained that I should take a picture of my key and in the case I ever lost it, I could get an original OEM key from the manufacturer with that serial number. Very insightful, articulate, and professional. Will be back soon. It's interactions like these that I'm glad I didn't use an app a friend recommended that mailed you duplicated keys. Going in-store was much quicker, cheaper, and a better experience. Never going back to Home Depot. read more

Chicago locksmiths has some of the nicest people working for them. They need to get their communications straightened out, but luckily, the wait for them was worth it. Nathan was quick, efficient and talented. He worked out our problem even though we had communication glitches along the way. *Be warned: their phone calls all come up as "Spam Risk" and then when I picked up the phone, it was in the middle of a recording that said "...your call will be recorded..." etc. so I just kept hanging up on them. After calling to see why when I was next in line, I had not heard from anyone, I discovered that all the Spam Risk calls I had that day where them calling me (they shrugged this off) and this, after they had been calling me on the wrong number for part of the day. I had to sit for hours for them however, they are incredibly nice and efficient, came same day and even though Nathan had to drive back to his office to get a part for us, he did so cheerfully and eagerly and returned to finish the job. We really needed it, so I'm grateful. I do wish they would figure out some better way to conduct their phone business. read more

I don't recommend locking yourself out of your ancient apartment with your hungry dog at dinnertime and when you are dead broke during the coronavirus, but if you do, I HIGHLY recommend Nathan and Chicago Locksmiths to save you from yourself. From phone call/quote to arrival was less than a half an hour, and Nathan was not only super careful re: corona protocol but so kind and pleasant and talked me through what he was doing and the options. I've now got a repaired lock that is better and safer than before. Excellent, fast, helpful. There is not much more I could have asked from a bad situation. Thanks! read more

Moe L. was fantastic! Thoughtful, courteous, knowledgeable, and fast. Helped replace hardware, rekey locks, and make recommendations for a digital lock. Grateful for the company and for Moe in particular. Will ask for him again if we need help in the future. read more

Robert came out to my car with all the tools needed to make and program a new key fob. Great service! Javier was quick, and found me some cost savings too! Would definitely recommend!

Frank assisted me with a Honda Civic key fob today, and he was super helpful. In my previous calls to get details on how to get this service, Frank was very thorough and informative. I was able to squeeze in a short visit to purchase a key fob today and have it programmed, and Frank had me in and out in about 10 minutes. I appreciate the courtesy and swift assistance, you're the man m, Frank! read more

In a series of unfortunate events, my room mate accidentally locked me out yesterday on a Friday evening. I tried the bobby pin thing you see in movies to try and get in, but of course that didn't work. Luckily, I remembered (thank god) that I live two blocks away from Chicago Locksmiths. I had no phone, no keys, no wallet. From the beginning, Stephanie and Melissa were very understanding and kind and let me know from the beginning that my wait time would be longer than usual. They explained to me that it would be best I wait in the store and little by little they would be able to give me ETA updates on when a technician would be available. An hour went by and I sat up front alone, but both ladies checked in on me periodically, offered me water and snacks, and befriended me and treated me like the little wounded fawn that I was. Their kindness was above and beyond customer service that wasn't even necessary. I was even able to reach my room mate via telephone and did not end up needing a technician after all, but their service left a big impression on me. Though I do get my keys cut here and this was not my first time at Chicago Locksmiths, I highly recommend their level of expertise and professionalism in any service they provide. Thanks Melissa and Stephanie! read more

I had contacted Chicago Locksmiths to set up an appt to rekey a new condo. They were quick to respond and get me on the schedule for the date I requested. Matt F. from Chicago Locksmiths came to unlock my door that I locked myself out of. He was fast, efficient and courteous. He observed all COVID-19 safety protocols too. What else could you ask for in a locksmith. The price not outrageous either ($110). I would highly recommend Matt F. from Chicago Locksmiths. read more

Let me start by saying that I did not use their services. However, I gave them 4 stars because, 1) their customer service over the phone while gathering facts for the estimate was excellent and they were extremely patient with me, and, 2) I found them to be honest and straight forward with their estimate. I did not use them because they were higher priced than the company I hired but I felt very comfortable with them. read more

We had a new security system and a new smart lock, which needed a rekey. I was quoted the following "Standard rekeys are $45 each as long as you have a working key. If you do not have working keys it is $55 per standard lock rekey and it is not always guaranteed." We have a working key, but somehow I was charged $150. There was no mention of additional charges, the tech just showed up and started doing work. At the end of the work, I was just handed a bill of $150. I purposely chose Chicago locksmiths because I needed a simple rekey and I thought I was getting a reasonable price. I would look elsewhere or at least ask about hidden fees. read more

On hold for 20 minutes and tried calling back. Just to be put on hold again and I can't even get a word out. Also 20 minutes of there exact same message: "thank you for calling Chicago locksmith your trusted blah blah blah" will drive anyone mad. If people are waiting this long, they should have some sort of music playing instead of the same prompt message over and over and over! I wanted to give this place my service, but the people answering the phone can't even let me get a word out before throwing me on hold again. It also said I was next in line both times yet I waited forever and wasted time. I can't get that 20 minutes back that I lost so I'll write a 1 Star review instead for terrible customer service ------------------- Update for Shay Magen (president of the company) messaging me and apologizing about the customer service experience I had and also trying to accommodate me accordingly. Although I already chose another locksmith company I appreciate the gesture and pride on customer service which is why I am changing my review. read more

Went there because my car key was a little bent, so it was hard to start the car. With Chicago frigid winters the last thing I wanted was for the key to break off in the ignition. I went in there and everyone was so nice. Walter helped me. I was told to pull the car to the back and in less then 10 minutes I had a duplicate key programed and everything at almost half the price I was quoted anywhere else. Although a locksmith is a business you don't often go to....but if I ever need one again this is the place for sure. read more
