Really great experience with the afternoon tea. Service was great and we really enjoyed our time. The fresh scone was by far the best part for me! All the little sandwiches and dessert was great too

This has to be in my top 10 all time dining experiences. This beautiful elegant restaurant in the Peabody feels so celebratory! We booked for a late Valentines dinner with the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings and we were so impressed. Memphis Chef, Keith Clinton's attention to detail and perfectly seasoned food was truly delicious. Courtney, our lovely & attentive server brought us back to meet the Kitchen team. It was the most peaceful kitchen I have ever witnessed. This must explain the harmonious dishes that were served to us! The wait staff were well choreographed but we never felt rushed. The pastries from Chef Konrad Spitzbart were unique as well as just the right finish to a perfect meal. Thank you for an incredible evening.

*apply queen of afternoon tea voice here* I went to a bridal tea with a group of girlfriends for pre wedding festivities. I have always wanted to go to a fancy tea party and this experience did not disappoint! First, each guest was able to select their own tea from the tea menu which included items such as scarlet, matcha, earl gray, and fruit options. I went with the peach tea and I am very happy with my choice. The staff was knowledgeable about the teas letting us know whether to add milk or water to each kind. We had 3 courses, finger sandwiches, a scone, and dessert. I enjoyed a few things from each course but for me there was too much sweet. The scone was cinnamon sugar with cranberries served with cream and jam. I would have preferred a plain flavored scone since desert was immediately following. I did enjoy the chicken curry salad sandwiches the best out of all 3 courses. The bride was gifted a bridal themed rubber duck and some peaybody champagne glasses which was a very nice touch. The reason for not scoring 5 stars would be my personal preference of the decor. I understand the hotel is a time capsule itself, but I do not understand the Tuscan theme in the restaurant. I believe a redo of the decor would be more appropriate and maybe doing a retro flapper style vibe. Overall I would definitely recommend the experience!

Man this place is awesome. Excellent afternoon tea and dinner service. Exceptional atmosphere and service. 10/10 would recommend!

The tasting menu was fantastic with exploding flavors and wine that pairs perfectly I would say there truly worth the visit. Great service and an amazing atmosphere.

The Peabody Afternoon Tea experience is TOP NOTCH! I have experienced afternoon tea in many countries and this one ranks up there with some of my absolute favorites! Our server Hubert was amazing! Very friendly, informative, and attentive. The servers at the other tables around us were equally as welcoming and caring of their guests. The 2 of us each selected The Peabody Tea (Two Teas) option from the menu. For our teas, we selected the Chocolate Chai, Mystic Mint, Mulberry Mangosteen Hibiscus Powder, and Ruby Oolong. All four of these teas were wonderful! My favorite was the Chocolate Chia. We asked for additional water for each pot and Hubert gladly obliged. The 3 courses we received were also great! The tea sandwiches came first on a three-tiered tray. The scones came second and were HUGE and AMAZING. The jam and clotted cream were delicious. Finally, the sweets came on another three-tiered tray and were quite wonderful. We took our leftovers to go because we were both so stuffed we couldn't finish it all. The ambiance of the Chez Phillipe restaurant + afternoon tea was a perfect combo. It felt classy and comfortable! I couldn't have asked for better. Highly recommend this experience to Peabody guests and outside visitors alike!

We came here for afternoon tea and it was amazing! The whole dining area exudes elegance. The waiter was kind and explained what each item on the tier was. They have a pastry chef that can make pre ordered cakes if you are celebrating something special. This is a great place for a birthday, bridal, or celebratory tea. We can't wait to come back!

1st course - afternoon tea (My favorite)

Omg what a gem! I came here for a girl's afternoon tea lunch on a Thursday and I have no complaints. The food was delicious. We had one tea and the three courses. The first course was my favorite. The service was emasculate. They add 17% gratuity to the checks but I gave an extra tip because I was so happy with the service. Our server was Chris, he was outstanding. The ambiance is beautiful. It's the perfect location to have an afternoon tea. The mirrors to the murals and the gold accents made the Aesthetic and theme spot on. I will definitely be making this a staple restaurant to go to for afternoon tea lunches. Highly recommend

Had the best time at afternoon tea it was easy to request reservation online and confirmation email. The staff was great and needed up full even with the vegetarian option. I was pleased there was clotted cream to go with the scone and would recommend the matcha. I would highly recommend this experience we will be returning.

    Beautiful entry, TERRIBLE service.

This was such an unbelievable experience! We made two separate reservations and traveled 5 hours just to be turned away at the door because the "couldn't find" the reservations. We proceeded to show our confirmations and still got turned away. The supervisor, Glenn, was rude and aggressive. I left the restaurant and asked the front desk to help me understand. They didn't see why we were turned away, and even suggested mentioning their name to help us get in. We returned back to the restaurant only to be turned away again. What a terrible experience for something we were looking forward to enjoying together. As cool as it could be, I wouldn't recommend going there.

Like many other reviews, this is based on the Afternoon Tea experience. On our recent trip to Memphis, I wanted an excuse to visit the Peabody without staying there. A friend recommended the Afternoon Tea. I really enjoy tea in general and I also love the kind of finger sandwiches that come with a nice afternoon tea service, so this was an easy sell for me. We made a reservation via their website for a Sunday afternoon. First, let's address the price. Yes, $50 per person is quite a bit to spend on a meal without booze. However, this sort of thing is meant to be an experience--as much about the service and atmosphere as the food and tea. Is it a good value? No. Is it worth it? In my opinion, yes, when you account for the level of service and the portion sizes (you get a light meal, not a light snack). On arriving, we were immediately greeted, asked about allergies (none), and led to our table. A waiter held my chair. Not being a capital L lady I had no idea how to deal with that. We pushed past the awkwardness and settled in. Chez Philippe is in the interior of the Peabody and has no windows. Instead, there are a number of murals depicting a masquerade of sorts. It's a bit dimly lit, but in a mood-lighting way not in a "can't they afford lighting" way. The table was set for the two of us, with two place settings, flowers, tea cozies, and milk, honey, and sugar waiting. The menus included a list of teas and the courses. Water was promptly provided and our waiter explained the courses and we placed our tea orders (Earl Grey for me and a ginger tea for my dining companion). We each received our own pot. The pots are not charming, but very functional glass pots. The waiter poured an initial cup for each of us and topped the pots with their cozies to keep warm. We were able to enjoy the tea for a few minutes before the first course came out. The first course was the savory course. There were five items for each diner included in this course. Four were appetizer sized toasts: pimento cheese with tomato, cucumber, and goat cheese; a salmon mousse; a crab salad; and prosciutto with cantaloupe. The fifth was curried chicken salad on a mini-croissant. All were very good and a little more substantial that I was expecting. I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite but I'm a sucker for curried chicken. Next came the scones. We had one each and they were served with clotted cream and jam. The scone was cinnamon cranberry. I found it to be sweeter than I would have liked but the texture--somewhere between a drop-biscuit and cake--was excellent. The dessert course was decadent and almost too much at that point. We'd each had a pot of tea by then and were on our second pots. But my sweet-tooth demanded I have every last pastry offered, so I had all five: a strawberry, pistachio, and white chocolate opera cake (the pistachio flavor was lacking but it was beautiful); an orange and raspberry macaron; a coconut and chocolate macaroon; a lemon cheese cake with an adorable chocolate duck; and a Linzer cake. My favorite was easily the Linzer cake (but I like Linzer anything ... cookie, torte, you name it). In addition to the courses arriving and being cleared promptly, our waiter and other staff checked on us a number of times during the experience. This is a place that prides itself on a level of service to which most of us are unaccustomed. The wait staff to occupied table ratio was close to 1 to 1. It's really the service that lifts this to five stars. Although I'm totally at home with divey takeout spots, I can appreciate an experience where service is an art.

The food was great. The wine pairing was amazing. Chris our server was superb! I highly recommend this place for an amazing dinner experience.

    Savory petit fours
    Kyle N.

This review is for the afternoon tea service. It's an experience! You're greeted and escorted to the table by the Maitre D in white gloves. Follows an explanation of the tea selection and three course petit fours service. First the savory treats; a mini croissant stuffed with chicken curry, a salmon mousse tartine, etc. Followed by a warm scone with butter and jelly. And last the sweet petit fours, all served in fine china, real silverware and white cloth. For $50 per person the quality of the offerings could be better, but the experience is worth it.

How would I find out prices for a high tea afternoon birthday party for a 4 year old?

Is there a dress code for afternoon tea? I like to rock tourist shorts. :)

The attire is business casual, but I doubt they would turn you away. They are just trying to keep up with the elegance theme

The Redfish Clemenceau is one dish that is sure to please. Redfish with panko breading, peas, potatoes, and mushroom in a light sauce, I really enjoyed. I am not a fan of all things fish, but I did venture out and I'm glad I did. I have also had the bread pudding and cheesecake, with the bread pudding being my favorite. Oysters are half price on Tuesday and I enjoyed the raw oysters better than the chargrilled. The chargrilled didn't taste chargrilled, because I could only taste the Parmesan, no garlic butter flavor at all. Oh as for appetizers, the bone marrow and crab au gratin, were great as well. I have tried so much in those two visits I can't remember everything! Fried oyster salad is full of oysters and less salad with blue cheese dressing that does not overpower the dish. Bbq shrimp was just ok, unfortunately the dining area I was in had blue lights so all those pictures came out...blue lol! Ladies bathroom was cleaned both visits and the atmosphere is very inviting.

The messy ass fries were good but not great. The bone marrow appetizer was over powered by the topping on it. The first steak to come out was over cooked but the 2nd time was so much better but by that time everyone was finished with dinner. The chicken was very very delicious. It isn't that anything was terrible-it was all good but nothing was exceptional. A little disappointing.

The Deviled Eggs and Crispy Gulf Oysters were good, but be mindful that the bacon marmalade is sweet if that's not how you want your deviled eggs. I loved the Flight of Salad - more than a small plate portion of 3 salads: Harvest Salad, Iceberg Wedge, and Watermelon Feta. I'm normally don't choose feta on dishes but it was mild (not salty) and a perfect refreshing combo with the watermelon, olive oil, and add fresh cracked pepper. Your palate could get confused with the different cuisines and flavor profiles, but it's a fun adventure and I would try again!

SOUP FLIGHT $14: Lobster bisque, She Crab (immature Blue female crab incl roe typically though this has no bright orange color) and Gumbo with rice. Portions are about a cup each and with the moreish sweet yeasty soft rolls, can easily fill you so pace and share! Gumbo was overly salty so gave that to my BILaw. ENTREE FLIGHT $16 Quail+$19 Redfish+$28 Elk Tenderloin When customizing your flight as I did the small plate price applies. Quail alone was filling, deboned in middle breast and thigh, as it's sweet spiced Creole stuffed and you get mini legs and wings to gnaw on. Like mini Thanksgiving. Took half home and actually ate on 'Flight' Home lol, it was just as tasty and far better than the pretzels haha! LA Redfish had a nice buttery panfried crusted and moist inside about 4oz with southern cheesy ham risotto topped with crab meuniere/browned butter. Elk Tenderloin medium rare as ordered, again great char, was naturally lean and tender, very tasty. A first for me, I would order over a regular steak tenderloin and only 1/2 fat! Killer deal :) Mac with asparagus spear was a tasty pairing. When server tells you 2-3oz Flight servings, in your mind it seems small but these were generous portions and easily fill you. I would share this after a salad or soup next time ;) Older menus point to the even more exotic ostrich, and Kangaroo loin, wow! But with Boar, Bison, Quail, Flounder, and Elk as current options, you can definitely dance around your less traveled palate. Definitely would return next time in Memphis and hunt down those exotics! Downed the hatch with a VINO Bel Glos FLIGHT Pinot Noir $18 spans the 3 premier cool climate CA AVAs-- Southern (Santa Maria Clark & Telephone) Central (Santa Lucia Balade) and Northern (Russian River Dairyman) liked this best but all deep rubys, cherry plum, some vanilla and spice. Very enjoyable flight. A shot of straight Sazerac Rye $10 and $4 Sweet Tea rounded off the table. Of course the guys went full hog entree, Shrimp & Grits $32 was the weakest of the plates as the shrimp were peeled and boiled? vs a more flavorful char & flavor or a spiced shell-on shrimp. Hubby was disappointed preferring my home made NoLo version. BIL's Veal Scalloppini $30 lemon caper butter and parm orzo, veggies really pleased him. It was more ordinary for my palate. All so stuffed thus passed on dessert but BIL took Key Lime Pie to go $7.50 reporting it was great next day. Server was attentive and friendly. Could use brushing up on menu, I had to look up the She Crab and Wine regions after asking. Waiting for a giant Fresh Pepper grind is a pain when it got busy, eventually brought us small grinder set to us. All the prices are very reasonable for the quality, white tablecloth ambience, elegant dining room with giant chandelier and darker woods while well lit with an upstairs tabled loft (although drab bathrooms could use some sprucing) downtown, AND importantly Valet parking, makes dining here such a breeze. Sidewalk patio for fair weather days too. Take FLIGHT and dine here, it'll make your girls giddy, Imma still flying high on my dining memories.
