The food here was an amazing way to start our morning. We sat outside with the nice breeze and some shade to enjoy the peace. The fried chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grits and the biscuits paired well with the protein and the eggs. Our server Keenan was very friendly and helpful, he took the time to get to know us and make us feel welcomed. Will definitely be back!

I came to add a picture but I must comeback to try other options on the menu. I really enjoyed the music playing anf the small but intimate atmosphere. I will be back.

Randomly selected this restaurant for brunch and it was a win. I was so pleased with the service, ambiance and food. The server was amazing, funny, and very personable. The complimentary cornbread that they give on the table was very delicious, not dry, moist and perfectly sweet. I had the jazzy mimosa and a tequila lemonade both very refreshing and tasty. Now for the star of the show the steak and eggs I must say might be the best I've had it was juicy, tender, and well seasoned I was blown away. My friend had the fried salmon with grits, man and cheese and greens also a must. The salmon was perfectly fried tender on the inside nice flavor. The grits were also really good and I didn't even add cheese. Mac and cheese very cheesy and flavorful. They have a nice backyard ready for spring. Great for events and groups. I will definitely be coming back here.

Stopped here after service on Sunday to grab a bite to eat before going to an afternoon service at another church and the service was quick, fast, delightful. As soon as we sat down our server came to our table and we made him aware of our time limitations and the need to get in and out in thirty minutes. He took our order and within 10 minutes our order was at the table. I had cheesy grits, fried whiting, and salad with lemonade and hubby had Carolina chicken wings, sweet potatoes, collard greens, and Mac n Cheese. Everything was delicious. I'm just sorry I couldn't savor the flavor because I had to woof my food down in ten minutes to get to my next stop. What a darn shame. Nonetheless, we do plan to come back when we are not under such time constraints and totally take our time to enjoy the food.

I haven't been to Cheri's in 4 years so I said let me bring my son for brunch for his birthday with my daughter. We had a great time as usual. Lemon drops to start I forgot to take a pic but was super strong but I'm a lightweight lol. The complimentary cornbread still on point drizzling with icing we placed order for the table being greedy lol. I opted for the catfish and grits my favorite still tasty no complaints at all. My son had the steak and eggs with cheese and grits he enjoyed as well. My daughter had the waffles with the peach cobbler she loved it. Overall great experience and exceptional customer service and we ended we Tequila shots again I'm a lightweight lol. Music always in my age range thanks

The food was delicious, garlic wings, you can taste the seasoning in every bite. Mac and cheese, was seasoned through and cheesy. The shrimp was very good and the salmon croquettes, it had a southern flavor. Service was awesome, the owner and her daughter in-law were pleasant. Ambiance was warm and welcoming, the music was great! Thanks for the Playlist My husband and I will be back!

Pretty decent spot for brunch. The food is great! My whiting-fired fish and grits were amazing. My cousin had the fried chicken and it was nicely fried/seasoned. The only thing I would recommend is elevating the drinks.

How empty it was.

I would not recommend or come back to this business. Last night i had plans to go to a restaurant but it was a long wait and their kitchen closed in 1hr. We didn't so check out Cheri's, it's been on my check out list for a very long time, and the reviews & food looked good. We arrive, and entered, I thought there was a faint smell of urine but my man said it just smelled like old people, there was table eating. We asked for a table for 2, the lady went to the back and came back and said they were actually closing. I told her online it said they closed at 10pm (it was 9pm), she said "I know but we were slow today and decided to pack up". its the Friday of Memorial Day weekend! I can't with trying to support BOB! We went to Altar not too far away which 10/10 drinks, IMPECCABLE service, and great food!

This place is such a hidden gem!!! All of the food taste delicious and authentic. It's real soul food that comes to your table freshly made and piping hot. My only regret is that I didn't get an alcoholic drink. The fruit punch was layered and delicious, not kiddy punch. They have a full bar too. My favorite are a 3 way tie between the fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. The staff was working hard. They were fun, friendly, and very attentive. I will absolutely be back.

Patio

Music in the patio was from a free radio with more commercials than music which killed the mood. Would have been better with no music. Indoor they were playing some great 90s classics. In the patio, sad old moldy flowers were clumsily plopped in the umbrella holes of the table which added a unwanted and uncomfortable eating situation (they encroach on your plate). We started with beverages. If you like hawaiin koolaid or tang like childhood treats then the "mimosa" is something to try. The lemonade tasted old and flat. When the food came out everything looked good but that's where pleasantries end. The fried food, even though was not oily, were placed on a bed of lettuce which had several wilted/mushy greens. My fish although perfectly breaded and fried didn't have much flavor. My mac was sad looking from being premade way waaay ahead of time and cold from not being kept warm. I reheated it at home but sadly it too didn't have much flavor. The collards greens were tasty but severely sweet. It helped add some type flavor to the fish. My partner said the same applies for the chicken, although it was perfectly cooked it had no flavor at all. Overall I'm glad I came in but it is definitely not something I'm too pleased to have wasted money on when I left so utterly unsatisfied from all the blandness.

Overall rating: 4.4 Average rating seems accurate. When I went there was a line waiting for it to be open around 10 or 11. I went on a Saturday. I was excited for some southern food, but I didn't like the grits. That said, I really liked the vibe! And the bartender was very nice. I also didn't like the spinach artichoke dip or the bacon. I did like the French toast! But was it my favorite? No. No, it wasn't. Looking at these other food pictures & I'd be open to trying it again with some other dishes. If I'm in the area. Likely won't be seeking it out. Recommend giving it a try. Just don't recommend the things I ordered.

What a beautiful visit! I found this place on Yelp, and I'm glad I went. Service was kind and prompt, and the music was nostalgic! Now onto the food, I had the whiting and grits with a spinach side salad along with a rum punch. Oh and an appetizer of the lollipop lamb chops! Everything was delicious from beginning to end. I can't wait to go back!

This was my second time here, and like the first - the service was great. It's like I'm visiting family for soul food dinner on a Sunday. Super warm and friendly! Let's talk food. The lobster tails were delicious. They were a good alternative to the catfish that I was hoping for. So it may be safe to say that it is also delicious. However, I wouldn't say the same for my sides. While tasty, they weren't that "I was just cooked today" type of vibe. It's the goodness of the seasoning that made it still very tasty. I'll take the tails but keep the sides, except for the day that they're cooked. Once again, the service was so great - warm and attentive. The only other no for me would be the plastic utensils for serving and drinking. All of this aside, I will definitely return.

I had the half chicken with rice and beans, may have been the best chicken I've ever had. Portion was huge. Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.

Every table has a placemat with crayons which is such a fun way to keep kids and adults entertained. The food was delicious and tasted fresh, living up to their messaging on sourcing local food. We ordered the egg katsu sandwich and the eggs rothko. The sandwich was very well made with a nice crisp panko crusting that didnt feel heavy on the oil, and yet still managed to have a light airy egg inside. The eggs rothko was buttery and flavorful but still managed to not feel too heavy. The broiled tomatos on the side were a nice touch to contrast the egg and toast from the main dish.
