I went here today with a friend cause I love supporting local black owned businesses and more importantly good food with good people and this did not disappoint at all. I had shrimp with grits, she had salmon croquettes with grits, and we shared red velvet waffles with fried chicken. It was all delicious and I will be returning to try the other items on the menu. read more

Food was good for the most part i would skip on the mashed potatoes if you decide coming here. The service was disappointed in only because i was almost over charged on Iced tea. I ended up paying $10 for iced tea!! I was refunded but if i didn't say anything to the other lady i would have been over charged for no reason and the older lady took a bit of offense when i asked about the iced tea. Walk pass Cheri's daily , and today finally sat down to have lunch along with my best friend. For starters it's black owned, support the community and the people. The staff is very attentive and very polite. The ambience is nice , and the backyard is very spacious. For appetizers we had the bbq chicken wings, freshly made and well seasoned. For entree I had fried chicken with potato salad and vegetarian beans. My best friend had grilled salmon along with salad and Mac n cheese. The food provided was freshly made and simply delicious. The chicken was fried to perfection. Not to mention the food is affordable. Can't wait to revisit Cheri's. Definitely a hidden gem!! Good energy and great music!!! read more

Customer service was A-1... As I discovered this place because a restaurant two blocks before Cheri's gave us a cold shoulder from the door... To my total satisfaction the food and ambience was A-1... The staff was welcoming and gave that old school special caring touch to their duties! I love this place... Well my new place! read more

The food is amazing. Would definitely recommend. Got the fried chicken sandwich with chipotle mayo and the ginger drink and my goodness. The serving are also really worth the price. Thanks for lunch ! read more

This has to be one of the best restaurants in Bedstuy. I visited for brunch and had the salmon croquettes with home fries. I also ordered a side of grits and they provided cornbread for the table. The cornbread was DELICIOUS. Some of the best cornbread that I've had in my life (that says a lot since I used to live in Georgia). I also had a rum punch and that was great too. Beyond how delicious the food and drinks were, the service was also top tier. The bartender, Kenneth, (and I believe, partial owner) had amazing energy. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was at "home." I expressed that sentiment to the bartender and he shared that the restaurant is family owned and that they strive to be a place where people feel welcome. The chef came out and introduced herself and provided samples of her delicious Mac & cheese, potato salad, and peach cobbler. All were AMAZING. We left no crumbs on the plate. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in NYC. I'll be back to try dinner because brunch was superb. Whether you're in Brooklyn or not, it's certainly worth the trip. read more

Non stop good vibes! Went here on a Saturday night with my family, including my 7 year old son. The food was delicious, especially the garlic glazed wings and crispy sauced shrimp. We sat in the back patio because the weather was perfect. There was a DJ playing excellent music, everyone was eating, drinking, dancing and enjoying themselves. I cannot wait to return! read more

This is a very chill spot to grab some good food in a relaxed atmosphere. I was never I big fan of grits until I tasted the grits here. They were really yummy. My friend and I ate until we were bursting. I'll definitely be back. read more

I had intentions of eating here after seeing the good reviews! Arrived to find a packed place (good sign!) and was unfortunately unable to be seated, BUT WILL return to try it out due to the good hospitality we received from (I'm assuming) the owner! Amazing food and I looooved the greens and the lamb chop lollipops. Will definitely be coming back!!!

Went to Cheri's maybe 2.5 weeks ago for the first time and I soo want this place to succeed. So About the Space: Cheri's is serving a vintage vibe with an exposed brick wall with paintings around. It's mostly comprised of small two seat tables that can be pushed together, a taller picnic style bar table, and the large square table in the love-shack corner. The love shack corner is almost cozy but the seats are cut a lil too narrow which isn't a problem if you have a narrow behind. Ambiance: The music should always stay loud enough to hear because the play lists have been on point every time we were there! Play on, playas. So About the Food: Anyone counting calories: don't eat all day if you're going because a) the cornbread b) the Mac and cheese and I NEVER do Mac and cheese but this one must have had some addictive substance in it (lol) because the aroma drove me to taste...and keep tasting, the Greens, the... lemme stop before I name the whole menu. Everything I had and everything my friends had was amazing. Only two considerations on the food: portion size on the delectable catfish... maybe I was fortunate those times I went to Peaches HotHouse and Shrimp and Crab because those catfish portion sizes were a blessing. Next consideration- I'm an extremely low salt/low sodium person so I might be hyper-sensitive but the salmon croquettes seemed just a touch salty. But TRY them because my less sensitive to salt friend loved them. What's missing: More art, more images, spoke word and live performances and YOU. Get there, take a friend and order the rum punch! read more

We ordered a Boulevard and wanted to substitute egg white and add shrimp. We were told the order would be ready in 45 mins. An hour later for pick up, they had not started making the food. Wanted about 30 mins for the food to be prepared only to have the boupevard egg white omlette with just spinach and tomatoes, no cheese, no tarragon, no onions, no sweet peepers, no lemon dill. We called to complain about the issue and the owner would not listen, kept cutting us off to the point that I have chosen to no longer support this establishment. Tooo many mistakes and a lack of customer service. read more

A friend and I came here based on a google search for a quick catch up after work. 3 hours later, we realized it was past closing time.... this place has such a great vibe we didn't want to leave. Music was flowing all night - a dj was playing a great selection of r&b that took me right back to my first few years out of college. The food was delicious- I ordered the salmon which was basted in garlicky-herbal goodness (just remember to bring some mints!) And we ended up chatting with the owner who was very friendly - you could tell why the place had such a nice vibe. There's a lovely backyard which I'll need to check out for brunch in the near future. I will definitely be back. read more

Came from Michigan to try this place had a lot of great reviews! Called ahead of time to see if they were dine in, I was advised they were outside which was ok. When I arrived I was greeted and immediately was told that they were cash only (no problem with that) however I didn't have any cash I had plans on using a credit card since most people are not taking cash due to covid. It was very upsetting had I was advised over the phone when I called that it was cash only I could have found an ATM (free for me) and not wasted money on an Uber. It was upsetting Seinfeld I didn't drive and was by myself. The communication could have been better. Maybe next time read more

First time. Loving the vibe already. Waiting for my food. Had pan fried Salmon Croquettes, delicious.

Soooo I just found out this restaurant is sooooo close to where I live! Cannot believe I haven't known for the few months I've been walking down this street. I'll be here hopefully every week! Their food is amazing!!! It's family owned and the woman who served us was super sweet. We ate in the backyard! A lot of leaves since it's fall but beautiful. The food was amazeballs! I ordered the salmon croquettes which came with a baby kale salad, collard greens and potatoes . Also a side of grits with cheese. It was delicious!! Will be going back to try the fried fish! Whiting! Thank goodness it's not tilapia or catfish. My guy ordered red velvet Belgian waffle with a side of cheese eggs and cheese grits. He loved it so much!! We're both from the south so this was a great find!! We are thoroughly happy and will be returning soon!! They also hv live music on brunch Sunday's! Want to def try this out! This place apparently has been open for almost a year or so, they deserve more traction, more business! Well deserved! read more

No AC when we went for dinner on one of the hottest days of the summer. The older women who greeted me, my pastor and First Lady was strangely rude and gave US dollar store clear plastic plates to split the 4 appetizers we ordered rather than proper plates, which came later from the chef. Wings were decent. Salmon croquettes were good. Fried orka fell flat. read more

Home vibe. Cool painting. The food was okay. I'll come back just not on the must do list.

Small space.... in the heart of bed study! Stopped for drinks on a Sunday afternoon and was very pleased!!! The rum punch is greeeat!!! And my lady said the mimosa was great too.. I was in town visiting from down south and I decided to try this place out. I must say i was pleasantly surprised. Great ambiance, extremely accommodating staff, great DJ playing a mix of 90s hip hop and R&B, but the food was cooked to perfection. I had the crispy white fish, mac n cheese, potato salad and baked beans.. omg those beans! I love beans and those are probably my favorite. Oh snap, i had cornbread too... ORDER SOME. You will not be disappointed. I really wanted dessert, but i was too full. That sweet potato cheesecake looked so tempting too. I highly recommend this place. read more

I went down there looking for another place I thought was on Malcolm X, but stumbled in for Friday lunch. They have a really nice space outside and in. Tori is very nice and the food was really delicious. I had salmon croquettes and they were light and perfectly seasoned. She gave me a sample of the candied yams and explained that there was no sugar added, but the juices caramelize into slow roasted goodness. I'll definitely go back for brunch. They have red velvet pancakes for goodness sakes. read more

Great food, great service, total gem. Cheri the owner was so lovely, saying hi to everyone. Very friendly local place.

So today my friend and I wanted to try Cheri's and I tried to call to make an order for pickup, but no one picked the phone up. I later decided to drive over to the location and just to find out the business was closed. No post on their IG and of course they dont have a Website. I was truly disappointed because I really wanted soul food from a black owned restaurant. read more

I heard about this place from the TV show Chopped and since it's near mom and dads, decided to check it out. Warm and friendly service and you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. Love the style and decor, very Brooklyn, very Bed-Stuy. I decided to order the buttermilk biscuits while I waited for hubby to arrive and I will give 5 stars on those things alone. So moist and fluffy and buttery and def homemade. The complimentary cornbread for the table could've stayed in the back - not a fan. I ordered red velvet waffles and fried chicken and he had the catfish and grits. We loved both. Also got some of the rum punch which was perfect! We even got dinner for later to go since I don't live in the area. Oh I almost forgot about the music. Seriously, jammin music. All the patrons were either singing or humming along. I even heard someone ask about the playlist - it was that good. Now with my belly full, I'm headed home to take a nap but will be back. read more

I enjoyed my night out for dinner at Cheri's. The venue is very cozy. The owner and staff were very friendly and catered well to their clientele. The food was amazing as I had the catfish, a side of Mac and cheese, collard greens & kale, with some yams that I shared with a friend. A lot of food for a great price. Super welcoming and delicious food overall. The staff was as accommodating as possible and made you feel like a part of their family. I had fish and grits and my friends had shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles. We also tried almost all the desserts (we were there a long time, don't judge). I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the laid back feeling also translates into a little bit of a wait for things. If you're in a rush or feeling impatient, don't go in that spirit. Go in the spirit of enjoying good food and good company and you will have a wonderful experience. read more

After reading all of the wonderful reviews and walking by the restaurant frequently, I couldn't wait to drop in. I'm not sure if I was there on an off night but the service was terrible. While we were greeted and given cornbread and water fairly soon after being seated, the rest went downhill. My friend and I ordered 2 glasses of wine and 25 minutes later, NOTHING. We decided to leave as we were hungry and worried about how long it would have taken to order and receive our food. Note, there were only 2 other patrons at the restaurant at the time so there should not have been an issue due to crowding. read more

Went to this address on 9/22/2021 & this place was closed although online it said that it was open. I've been wanting to come to this restaurant for quite some time & since I was in the neighborhood I decided to stop by. I actually walked right by it because nothing looked like a restaurant. I thought did I go to far but as I'm looking at the #s I know I'm in the correct spot. I see 216 & it's an apartment building. I'm wondering is this restaurant upstairs & I just know that this can't be a restaurant because I'm seeing apartment #s to ring the bell. I'm just looking around & finally I look up to see a sign that says Cheri's. I was standing right in front of it & didn't realize it because the metal "gate" was pulled down & it had a padlock on it. I'm really confused at this point. Perhaps I read the wrong location online or something. Seriously I don't know what to think. So I called their # for the restaurant & it's a non working #. I called a 347# for restaurant & that line just rang. I called GrubHub & explained what was going on. The representative ask for their # which is the 718 # & she tried it. She got the same message I heard. Then puts me on hold & comes back to say that all of the orders that have been placed were cancelled. I was in shock & I said well why would they be up online as open & accepting orders only to cancel them. I asked if the restaurant relocated or closed for good but she had no idea of the restaurant status. Please put on your Instagram or website that you have closed or relocated. PLEASE stop accepting orders online to cancel. Waste of time. Very disappointed because I waited over a year to try them out. It's hard to support black owned businesses with this type of thing going on. Just saw on GrubHub that the restaurant is no longer accepting orders. read more
