    a pile of fried chicken
    Lily T.

This is THE best place for fried chicken. We've been coming here for years and this place never ever disappoints. I love my fried chicken and definitely know my fried chicken, especially Korean fried chicken and this place is legit. The key to eat their chicken in their store at its freshest and get their whole chicken with the spicy yang nyum sauce on the side. This way the skin stays crispy. You dip the chicken in the spicy and savory sauce right before you put all that goodness inside your mouth. Oh so delicious and heavenly! Their chicken is good even without any sauce and arrives pipping hot with loads of flavor and juice inside and extra crispy on the outside. And the best part, it is NOT greasy! You can literally eat like 10 pieces and not feel greased out like some other fried chicken. I cannot say anything about their pizza but remember I tried it before and didn't like it much. Stay with the fried chicken here folks!!!! Their garlic wings are also amazing and drenched in this amazing garlicky sauce!! Service is also on point and friendly. Prices is amazing! We ordered 2.5 half chicken, 16 pieces of garlic wings, one whole pitcher of beer, sauces on the side and our order came with radish pickles and salad and it was at a fraction of the price some other places charge. Hands down the best! Highly highly recommend this place!!!

My quest to find the best Korean fried chicken continues and this place happens to be a place I've had my eye on for some time. Order the bacon jalapeno pizza and 16 piece wings and can say everything here was relatively unmemorable. Pizza was okay but felt like it was lacking in topping , cheese pull was pretty amazing though. The fried chicken was the less impressive of the two unfortunately. It wasn't all the crispy and the sauce was just okay at best. A very average place in an area where the competition is extremely high would do well in other places just not here in my opinion

We stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday and there were only a couple other diners present. There were only a few tables and the vibe was dark and quiet. We ordered the korean fried chicken wings and pizza combo with different sauces and toppings. The complementary cabbage was appetizing and appreciated. The Yang-Nyum Chicken wings were sweet and not too spicy. The regular fried chicken was good but a little plain. We got a half Bulgogi and half bacon jalapeno pizza, which tasted great when it was fresh. The crust however seemed like frozen pizza crust, which wasn't too surprising. Overall a decent meal but probably won't be returning as there are tons of other Korean fried chicken spots nearby.

Arrived here for dinner. Decided to go with the pizza combination. Cost around $45 and it includes 12 inch pizza, half fried and half marinated chicken and 3 soda cans. Really enjoyed ourselves with the salad, radish and popcorn on the side. They provide you with hot sauce. I haven't been here for a long time, but the foods still great. Service is great too. I do think there might be msg in their foods because immediately after I felt drowsy and thirsty. Had to take a nice walk and hydrate!

My go-to spot whenever I am craving Korean-style peeeeza. We came around 8:30pm on a Sunday night and were seated immediately. There was a larger party in the back and another table of two so not crowded at all. The service whenever I go is super nice. We ordered a half and half pizza - bulgogi & shrimp garlic and some sweet yangnyum wings. Both were DELISH and we didn't feel overly full even though we didn't finish everything. Pizza wasn't too oily and wings were saucy. I like the ambiance here because it's dark and not too loud with the music. Their hours are also pretty late so perfect for munchies. Definitely recommend coming here if you're craving Korean chicken or pizza.

This. Freakin'. Pizza! I don't care what anyone says, it was so BOMB. Look at it. It's beautiful. Pair it up with some soju & beer for perfection. I already know I will be craving this on many nights. They have a lot of awesome combos on the menu. The server was sweet, kind & attentive.

I'll come right out and say that their fried chicken was legit! Sure, the name spells a bit funny and the dark, industrial interior took some getting used to, but I repeat: their yangneum (spelling?) chicken is on fire! I also liked that the radish was chilled, and the salad, despite my reservation about the pickle relish, was pretty much a crunchy, crispy, sweet perfection. Service was fine and we left with full and happy bellies.

Cheo God Zip is very underrated and I felt the need to set the curve. So here's 5-Stars. Quality food and service is clearly drawn out. When the local business owners understand the importance of this, they tend to have a very healthy, steady business and the customers witness that. Cheo God Zip is one of them. This is me and my friends' go-to chicken spot, and the affordability? It just tops everything off like a hot chocolate fudge to a sundae. Or salt to tequila. Or whatever! Me and my friends don't even drink! Do I need to repeat myself? This place sells legit Korean chicken! (Verified by Korean, writer herself.) Recommended: Combination! of Yang-Nyum (marinated) chicken, a selection of pizza, fries with drinks. And it's affordable. You'll eat till you unbutton. A party of 8 came in on a Tuesday night for a birthday celebration. It was quite last minute, but with the waiter's sixth sense and generosity, we were able to pull a nice surprise. I tried to give the waiter a call ahead, but.. he didn't need it. Me: "Hi, there should be a girl with purple sweater.. and a blond hair girl..." Waiter: "Yes, they are here and I have everything ready for you." Jeez, ok. Bottom line: - Pulled off a nice surprise - Food tastes amazing and what in the world... 4 guys 4 girls bellies full. - Affordable = more to order = on the house dishes! = yay! Definitely, highly recommended and everyone in our party was delighted to come back. Many props and kudos for quality food and service! This is what drives business and makes customers come back. With the price comfortable for dine-in. (You know you understand what I'm saying because I know you've ordered togo from other competitive places before and that was cause the price is no bueno.) Anyway, just go. Try the marinated chicken. Be delighted. And come back for more. Guaranteed.

My friend ordered a pizza for takeout. The pizza was different than any pizza I've ever had before. It was half bulgogi and half sweet potato. The flavors are very interesting and compliment each other. I like that the pizza isn't super salty like American chain pizzas. It felt a lot healthier and less fattening. All in all it was alright. Not mind-blowing, but it was good and filled me up.

Disappointing. Their pizza crust has the same strange aftertaste you get from supermarket frozen food such as bagel bites. Paid extra for the angus beef topping, it arrived with a small sprinkle of meat that simply wasn't satisfying in flavor. Also ordered their fried chicken and mild yang-nyum chicken - for both, the flavor did not go deeper than surface level. After the skin, the rest of the wing will taste painfully bland and unseasoned. I wish I could take back this entire meal, which is not something I say often. Would not recommend, I would sooner get my Korean fried chicken fix from chains such as Bonchon or even Pelicana Chicken. With superior independent businesses entering the same market on Northern Blvd, they need to do better to match the competition.

Obviously, they don't know how to make a pizza. WORST PIZZA I EVER HAD. Crust was thick as hell, ingredients were almost raw.

I was recommended to go to Cheogod Zip Chicken Pizza by my Korean friend after a long day. I was excited since before my experience here I've never had Korean pizza before. Even though I've heard mixed opinions regarding Korean pizza, I also know the Murray Hill area to have small, lesser known restaurants that are hidden gems. The waiters speak both English and Korean, which was super useful because 3/5 of my group weren't Korean. They were very polite and accommodated our every need, although they didn't come around and make rounds that frequently. We ordered two pizzas and two whole chickens, one spicy and one not. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The flavors of the pizza weren't the conventional flavors of a New York slice I was accustomed with, but that's what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor profile that fused sweet and savory in a way I didn't think was possible. The chicken was very flavorful and had my friends not been just as hungry as I was, I would have demolished both chickens by myself as well as every chicken in the room. However I will nitpick about one small thing: the spicy flavor was not nearly as spicy as I was looking for. It tasted like spice was building up a little bit, and was trying to be spicy, but just as it started to rise it came down just as quick and didn't come close to hitting the spice level I was expecting out of a Korean place. Also, don't forget about the Korean style coleslaw like salad (sorry I don't know the exact name). It featured a classic mixture of ketchup and mayo, and was so delicious. My Korean friend told me it was meant to be eaten with the chicken as a sort of palette cleanser, but I had no self control and ate half of it before the chickens were even slaughtered. I went off on a tangent but tldr: this place is great and reasonably priced, and has very few weak points all around. If you're in Murray hill and want some good food make sure to give it a try.

The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I'd come back to try their other food options in the future!

There's 2 waitresses and one busser, but I felt only one of the waitress was pulling the weight, while the other (maybe she's the owner?) mostly chatted with one of the table customers. I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. Instead of the usual red kimchi, they load it with long strips of green napa cabbage, cut right before your eyes before serving. Some bean sprouts, watercress on top, with tender potatoes, chewy rice cakes, and massive pork bones that fall right off - so meaty and flavorful. Served with a side of sweet mustard sauce. Pure comfort on a cold day. The grilled mackerel was enormous and incredibly plump - way bigger than expected! As an oily fish, it's rich and satisfying, but we barely made it through a third. If you're a mackerel fan like me, it's a must-order. . Banchan were simple and homey: nothing flashy, just solid classics. Bonus: it comes with fluffy steamed egg (jjim) that rounds out the meal perfectly. I can eat an entire bowl of rice with just the steamed egg . This set was massive for two - we left with about 1/4 of the soup and 2/3 of the fish! Pro tip: Save some broth and ask them to make fried rice with it at the end. Game-changer. . A couple of us shared a $13 bottle of the green grape flavor of Chum Churum, a soju. In terms of banchan, there was a bunch. Everyone got a cold and refreshing cabbage soup as well as a very tasty version of Braised Tofu/Dubu-jorim/두부조림. Once we ordered, we also got a bunch of other banchan, including cabbage, radish, and cucumber Kimchi, broccoli and cauliflower Namul, Marinated Mushrooms/Beoseot Bokkeum/버섯볶음, Anchovies With Peanuts/Myeolchi Bokkeum/멸치볶음, and Potato/Gamja Salad/감자샐러드. One of the other things brought out was a pretty tasty version of Raw Soy Sauce Marinated Crab/Ganjang-Gejang/간장게장. Most of these were refillable. The first actual thing that arrived was something that I can't eat, the $22.99 Seafood Pancake/Haemul Pajeon/해물파전. I have a cephalopod allergy, or in other words, anything with tentacles, so I avoid squid and octopus, and seafood pancakes always contain one of those two. Everyone else enjoyed it, though. The pajeon I could eat was the Kimchi Jeon/김치전 for a dollar less. It was pretty tasty, though I prefer other spots that had a bit more of a crisp. Next was one of their signatures, the grilled duck. Going from online reviews, we went with the non-spicy version, as people prefer it, as the spicier marinade overpowers the duck. This was the $29.99 Sang Ori Gui/생오리구이. The sliced duck was on a hot, sizzling plate, with there also being a lot of grilled onions and scallions. The duck had a mix of pieces, ranging from fatty to less so, and had a nice mix of textures. This was easily one of my favorites, though I liked it even more when paired with the ssamjang that arrived with the BBQ, as the sauce balanced the light fattiness. Arriving at a similar time was the last thing I couldn't eat, the Spicy Stir-Fried Baby Octopus on Iron Plate/Jjukkumi Cheolpan Bokkeu/철판쭈꾸비볶음, for $30.99. I couldn't try the octopus, but the portion was plentiful, and I had a bit of the noodles on the bottom after making sure there were no tentacles, as well as trying the sauce. The sauce was tasty, spicy, and very flavorful. We went with two of the Korean BBQ meats, one beef and one pork. My preference of the two was surprisingly the $49.99 Charcoal Grilled Marinated Beef Ribs/Yangnyeom Galbi/양념갈비. This also came with two veggies: kabocha squash and asparagus. The beef was extremely tender, had the perfect mix of fat and meat, and had only a light sweetness from the marinade. This was absolutely delicious and very much worth the price point. Also tasty was the Grilled Pork Belly/Samgyeopsal/삼겹살, for $36.95. This also came with a few things, including cabbage and a large mushroom. The pork belly was delicious, being just fatty enough and very tender as well, with a mild chew. The BBQ came with a few extra side dishes. This included a tasty steamed egg/Gyeran-jjim/계란찜, greens, an onion salad, ssamjang, salt, and a small boiling pot of soybean stew/doenjang jjigae. They were all tasty, though nothing particularly notable outside of the portions being generous. Also, at the end of the meal, they gave us some sujeonggwa. Not much for me to complain about this place. The food was very tasty overall, and the service was wonderful. I would go back and order a full beef BBQ set.
