For some reason joints in Manhattan stopped doing that and just bagged the slices right away. The pizza by the slice is a little cheaper than Lucia at $3 vs $3.25. By the pie is $19 vs $22 for a large. Tho getting the slices themselves, I can tell they are larger than Lucia too. The pizza did have less sauce and more cheese than I'm used to which isn't a bad thing. If you like cheesy pizza, this doesn't disappoint. I also noticed the crust on the outside is more blond so it has a bit more chew, but the bottom was perfect. Also this place is cash only. read more

This is definitely your go to affordable, no frills neighborhood pizza spot! This pizzeria is pretty unassuming along Northern Boulevard but we are so glad we tried it... many consider this a neighborhood gem and OG spot, we can totally see why. We ordered a variety of slices to try and the bottoms came out crispy to perfection (no flop), sauce to cheese and meat ratio were good. I would say they're hefty slices for the price as well. Old school pizza joint in flushing that has kick ass pizza at reasonable prices . After finally finishing biz in the flushing area my cuz took me to one of his favorite pizza joints in town and he picked a winner . Pizza , sandwiches , pasta and entree dishes done the old fashion way and prices can't be beat . A few tables in the back and I grabbed one while cuz orders himself a chicken Parm hero and gets me 2 slices via one cheese and one mushroom. Pizza is delicious, slices are bigger then average and cheese to sauce ratio all evens out . Friendly staff and cuz knows them by name as he comes to visit when he is in the area . Probably the best pizza in Queens! Made to order and always fresh. The crust is always perfect...not overdone or reheated as is the norm for most pizza shops these days. The sauce to cheese ratio is perfect...as if it was made with love. This place evokes memories of my childhood in the 1980s when pizza was a joy to eat and great pizza was easier to find. The staff is always friendly and they recognize my voice and have committed my usual order to memory. LOL! Local spot on my block!! Has not only amazing pizza but their garlic knots are a must as well! If not in the mood for pizza they have entrees, pastas, and more and the portions are huge! The staff is always fast and friendly and can get in and out pretty quickly. They do have a couple spots to sit inside if you want to eat in but since I live close I always just order take out. Ordered the mushroom pie here to go. Price is good and it's also pretty convenient for me to get to. There were a few people sitting inside, with just a few tables. The pie was really big. Big enough to almost half to fold the crust in some places to fit in the pizza box, so that's awesome. I think the pie needed a bit more sauce or salt. I ended up adding some salt to mine when I got home to help it out. Freezes and reheats well too. Unfortunately, the place is CASH ONLY. So beware of that! Xtra cheese place has been around for years and continue with their great quality. You come in and just get a sense of nostalgia. Just like the name says, they put a LOT of cheese on their stuff. Why haven't I heard about this place? I totally stumbled upon this place by accident. Yes - Great Pizza truly exists in Flushing. This quite possibly may be "That" greatest Pizza in Flushing. Either way, these guys can certainly run with "The Giants" & we certainly do know who are those "Giants" don't we ;-) Old School Establishment! - Limited Seating - Walked in the door and saw 2 Cops from the 109th Pct on their meal - Immediately realized - This place has got to be good. I suspect it was the owner who was on site; As the guys that prepared & served my food - did such with a sense of pride and conviction that one rarely sees anymore. Eggplant Parm Hero was exceptional. Quality of the ingredients were on the money. I'm definitely going to be returning to this location - which I kind of feel is "Off the Beaten Path" - I suspect that is why I never realized or heard of this great place. Definitely worth coming by to check out; Parking - as always is awful - But, it could truly be more awful. Plenty of Public Transportation. I honestly haven't tasted anything better than here. During covid time, I ordered from almost every pizzeria possible but found myself going back tot his place. If you wanna try a real NYC pizza, this is it. Food, nothing to say, it's just great. I tried pizza (all combos, plain, scilian, hawaiian, house special), stromboli, sausage, zittis, etc. Perfection. This place has been here for years and they're always on point with their pizza. I usually get the regular pie if I am sharing with a few people or just a slice for myself. It's good on it's own, but I like sprinkle some garlic powder and dried chili peppers on it which gives it a nice little kick. The price is reasonable. Usually order delivery and they're very friendly over the phone when taking your order. The quality of the pizza is really good and have always been good. I'm confident to say that it will stay that way! :) Recommend? 10 out of 10 and will be ordering in the future again for sure. read more

They are located on Northern Boulevard. The pizzeria has been in business for years and yes same owner. The owner and staff are warm and welcoming. Definitely a pizza worth trying,not thin or thick slice. The pizzeria is the only one around the area. The closest thing is Domino's and I'm not a Dominions pizza fan Pizza are good and tasty (not thick or thin). The rolls are just as good. The establishment is clean and maintained. Take heed, this is how you really can tell if an establishment food is good; the place was pack with senior citizens eating full hot plates of entrees and whole hot heroes. The seniors don't play around with food- your feeling will get hurt if you service nasty food. The place is small so you may not get a seat, it doesn't matter just cop & go. Great pizza, great friendly guys who run the place. One of the few pizza shops around the area. (Dominoes across the street don't count). Pizza is tasty. They have other food as well, from pasta, rolls and parms. You walk in, are greeted right away and have your order taken. Once it's ready, you are sent on your way! If there is any advice I would suggest is to have a separate person to collect money or to have the server thoroughly wash hands/wear gloves after handling money. read more

Walked in here late on a Thursday night and Joe, one of the owners was slinging dough rounds turning them into pizza crusts. They have three sizes. Small, large and Sicilian. I was with Angie and we just wanted pizza for the two of us. We asked if a small was 10-12 inches and he laughed. Small was closer to 16 inches. We ordered half veggie and half pep/meatball. He was so happy we were eating in (it's a small place where most people seem to pick up slices to go). He gave us the xtra-cheese in house treatment. We talked about our trips and baseball, Kansas City and Sicily. The hour we spent there was well worth it. Very good pizza made by the owner who started it 33 years ago, good conversation and a good welcome back to the US after traveling overseas. Thanks Joe! Not going to go so far to say that I am a NY pizza connoisseur but I did grow up in Brooklyn and Queens and worked in Manhattan my whole life so I've had my share of NY pizzas. My favorite pizza shop is Joe's pizzeria on the corner of Lincoln Ave and Liberty Avenue in City Line. That was the corner pizza shop where I had plenty of after school snacks growing up. Having said that, you will take your life in your own hands if you venture there for a slice. So instead of that, I found Xtra Cheese to be my new favorite pizza shop. The crust has a good texture and the cheese along with the sauce oozes flavor. I've also had the chicken parmigiana sandwich and it was a good value. read more

Secret ingredient to their pizza sauce. Soda. I been a regular customer here until I saw one of the workers pour soda into the sauce. Now I knew why the pizza sauce was sweet. People please don't be so biased!!! Look for quality. Tons of restaurants go out of business because of the quality. I hate eating at restaurants because it is tasteless and bland. Xtra Cheese has been open for as long as I can remember- and I lived down the street for 20 years. This was the only pizzeria in the area for the longest time, that is until Domino's opened up down the block. However, I was never a fan of Domino's- maybe it's because I grew up with Xtra Cheese! They're right on Northern Blvd so parking might not be easy but there's metered parking up front and a (very) small lot in the back. The owners and staff here are always laid back and super friendly. The shop has been pretty well maintained and stayed clean for many years. You'd think a place that was open this long would 'let go' and become a hole in the wall by now, but they do a good job of keeping it nice. The pizzas here are the quintessential New York style pizza- nice and thin, hand tossed, wide slices. I think that Xtra Cheese may have ruined other pizzas for me- I can't stand most other pizzerias. They have somehow kept their prices manageable throughout the years- I can name so many other places in Queens that charge about $10 more for their pies than here. Besides pizza, their pastas and garlic knots were always a huge hit with my family and friends. We used to come through here several times a week. It's a pity I moved out of Flushing, because this was probably my family's and my favorite go-to place for eating out/take out in the neighborhood. I am still comparing pizzas to this place, and nothing has come close yet in my new neighborhood. read more

Pizzas are legit full of cheese, so delish. The penne ala vodka is packed into that aluminum round container. They give you your money's worth. Would definitely order from them again. Only thing is they're old school and only take cash. read more
