I cried for roughly 5 days when I found out that Kyedong closed down but little did I know they live on in the name of Kono. They simply have the best chicken ever. They don't give you the usual small pieces of Korean fried chicken like bon-chon. These mother fkers get their chicken from the godzilla farm cus they big. Are you one of those buyers who think like hey, I eat about 4 pieces. My girlfriend eats 5. Let me get the 12 piece to be safe. Wrong. Now you're both obese. Divide your usual portion by 1.5x and report back son. I normally get their pig feet and pork belly too. Its literally a few pounds of meat and its served as cold cuts. You put them in the cabbage (included), put som'o'dat paste on and you're off to flavor town - except it doesn't suck. Remember to get the french fries. When you bite these fries, the fries bite back (love you dayum drops) read more

The food tasted great. The amount of food was plenty. They packaged everything nicely.

Definitely call ahead to place order. Waited for 35 min for my order. Got Combo # 7 $35 which included 10 pc of chicken and small size of pork belly and pork feet. I told them I wanted legs and wings when they asked me. Ended up with 9 legs and one small piece of wing, the mid section only. I did counted the chicken before I left since other reviews stated sometimes chicken were missing. The serving size for pork belly and feet are generous. They are very tasty but filing at the same time. It's served with sides like pickled turnips, lettuce and sauce. A few pieces fill me up already since they were very heavy. My husband loved it. Nothing special to say about the chicken but will return for pork belly and feet. read more

The fried chicken was very crisp but the soy garlic flavor did not come through on the wings. It needs more sauce. When went to count the number of wings in the box, it was short one. I was disappointed. The wings were plump but it's not nice to be the short is. read more

Friendly person taking my phone order. The chicken smelled delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with the right amount of soy garlic. The only gripe I had was I called at 1:30 for a 4:30 pick up and my order was still late. We had to wait for another 15-20 minutes. read more

One of the best Korean Fried Chicken and Bossam I've had in Queens. Ordered their Combo through the phone; pick up was fast and easy. Pork Belly Bossam came with all the fixins' (lettuce wrap, sauces, and pickled condiments)for takeout. The thinly sliced pork belly melted in my mouth with a mixture of tangy spices from the sauce- "Scrumptious." Onto the Fried Chicken legs, with its plump crispy outside, meat was juicy and tender on the inside. Flavour profile of my chicken was exactly what I wanted, cooked to perfection. Chicken came with an extra Soy Garlic sauce that I just can't stop dipping into. Kono is also a Korean butcher shop, meat products look fresh and clean. Pricing for the meats is higher than average supermarkets though. Will be coming back for my Bossam and KFC combo meals. read more

Kono - Pork Belly Bossam and Korean Fried Chicken Combo- Simply delicious - Chicken Wings Near Me - Flushing, New York

Seems like a decent spot but it fails the taste test. Gross, greasy chicken. No clue how they can stay in business with so many legit chicken places nearby. Pork belly also pretty revolting. I think I'm vegan now. read more

Used to visit here a lot of times for my Korean fried chicken cravings, though there was one case when a family member got food poisoning after eating a chicken drumstick that was off-black at the end. I also liked that their radish mu was not as pungent or sour versus other chains. This place seems to have changed their chicken recipe... A while back the fried chicken had a thin batter so the soy garlic flavor was more pronounced. Now the texture is thicker, with a breading kind of similar to popeyes...Ordering via phone was easy, an order of 2 large chicken wings and legs took about 30 minutes. There is also online ordering available (though the menu online is missing certain selections like soondae/blood sausage). There was never any indoor dining to start with for this location, so it has always operated relatively the same in terms of takeout and delivery. read more

I will not be coming back. I need consistency, and today, my experience from Kongo was horrible. My friend ordered a $30 combo... large order of wings/drumsticks, calamari, fries, with a soda. When I opened the order, we were missing half our order. We had 11 pieces of chicken only... which was one piece more than a small combo. I usually pay $19 for this !!! Also, the chicken drumsticks and wings were tiny. I don't know what happened with their food!!! The calamari is a strip now, no longer rings. We called and told them what happened and that they gave us a small order. They offered credit back or we come pick up the rest... and they would throw in fries. So I had to drive all the way back for my friend to pick up the food.... I wasted a half an hour because of this.. We open up the order we picked up the second time and only see 4 pieces of small chicken and a full box of fries. Was this worth $30??? Absolutely absurd. The drumsticks were half the size of bonchon/mad for chicken !!! I am starving right now and it only takes one bad experience to lose customers. What a hassle, totally not worth it. read more

It used to be my go to place for KFC (Korean fried chicken) but it has not been the same. Too much breading on the wings and the meat has no taste. They either changed their recipe if they forgot how to make it right. Now that Popeyes is just up the road, I might just go there for my fried chicken cravings. read more

I would like to order the soy garlic chicken most of the time. But not anymore... I got the soy garlic chicken today, it seems to be changed. They are not crispy and sweet anymore, also the flavor hard to taste the garlic and soy. We are not going there anymore. So disappointed. read more

Review is solely on the fried chicken wings. I tried this place due to my go-to fried chicken spot being closed today. The experience left a lot to be desired. 20 wings was $30... holy mackerel that's insanely expensive for wings! But then again, my thought process was, if it's delicious, definitely worth it. Unfortunately, not so for this place. Got home and set out the spread. Piping hot wings. Good amount of sauce on each. And still quite crunchy. All good signs. Eagerly we took our first bite. BOY, OH BOY, are looks deceiving. There was absolutely no flavor in the sauce, nor in the chicken itself. It was tasteless and the oil that was used tasted kind of stale. We still ate since it was our dinner and we paid $30 for it, but... never again. Their chicken didn't even taste fresh. Like they took random leftover chicken, dredged them in plain white flour as much as they could to get all the crunch, and then slapped some old, stale sauce on those bad boys. Considering they're located in a meat store, that was probably the most surprising part. In the wise words of our favorite Masterchef, Gordon Ramsay, "MAKE SURE YOU'RE SEASONING!!" read more

I'm so mad at the meal I received today. I used to love their food but not at this time. Missing chopsticks, very little kimchi, no soda, dirt on lettuce. It's disgusting. Luckily, I was able to wash it before eating it. The chicken combo and the pork belly were the perfect combos, but today they ruined my day. Chicken not tasting too dry, and entirely not they used to be. I spend about $50, including a tip for a $38 combo meal. Check this out before you make an order or talk to the guy in the store. I waited 2 hours for my meal. Under this pandemic, they could do better. read more

Their pork belly is juicy and delicious, especially they give you the side dishes to add on and eat with the pork belly. Their fried chickens (soy garlic) are the best. They need to update their hours on yelp because I called at 9:30pm to order takeout and no one picked up. (Yelp says they close at 11pm. MULTIPLE Google sources say 9:30-10:00pm, so I don't even know which one of them is reliable.) Even if they close at 10pm, they should at least pick up the phone. Pretty ridiculous when they are mostly a takeout restaurant. read more

Delicious soy garlic wings and legs. The pork belly is delicious too. They include lettuce, picked radish and sauces in all orders (raw garlic and jalapeños too!) This is our go-to-place for take out Korean style fried chicken. The fries are great too. They manage to stay crispy bc they leave the carton open so they don't steam. read more

Kono, please be more diligent with the online ordering system. I placed an online order for some chicken 2.5 hours in advance. I arrive at the place a little past the time that I specified (5-10 minutes; there was some traffic along the way), but I'm handed 3 boxes that weren't remotely warm. They had cooled down a lot, probably from sitting on the table way before my 5:45 pickup. Maybe management had an off-day, or maybe Memorial Day had something to do with it. But if the restaurant's website is going to allow customers to choose a pick-up time for the same quality food that they would get if they ordered in-store, then please don't make the food in advance and let it sit out. Fried chicken shouldn't be served cold! I'll give 3/5 stars because, after re-heating the chicken at home, it tasted good.. read more

This location is for Delivery and Take-out orders only!!! The food quality is still very good, just as it is at the original location on 149th. I happen to find the menu here to be relatively easier to comprehend for anyone that cannot read Korean. The prices and combos are identical to the ones at the original location but there's a better explanation as to what comes in each combo. A larger order of soy garlic chicken legs will never be a wrong decision. They're crisp, juicy, flavorful, and enormous legs. The fries have a seasoned batter so be warned: eat in moderation and don't get addicted. The take-out orders come with a side of pickled daikon (radish) which adds a sweet and tart crunch. It's a great way to cleanse your palate after such sweet and savory chicken legs. Street parking also doesn't prove to be difficult. It may be more convenient to call ahead, otherwise it may take about 20+ minutes to prepare if you order on the spot. read more

This is our go to place for Korean fried chicken. We always order the chicken and pork feet combo. The wings are so juicy and tasty. Pig trotter's awesome too! The meat's tender and well marinated. Ordered Combo 4 with Soon Dae () and it was so rubbery, we ended up throwing them away. However chicken was very good. Staff is very nice.

I loved this place when it was down by parsons, also known as kyedong. Unlike chicken places now that come with all sorts of different flavors, sometimes you just want a good old fashioned soy sauce marinated fried chicken and kono is the spot. Their pieces are huge compared to places like bonchon and mad for chicken. Only down side is that this new spot is take out only. This store shares a store front with a surprisingly modern butcher store so don't worry you didn't go into the wrong store. The chicken is always fried fresh so don't forget to call ahead, at least 20 mins, for pick ups. read more

After coming to this restaurant for so many years, this was the first time I was disappointed with the food, as the meat tasted bad, it tasted like it was going bad, while I was eating it I tasted it being too soft and liquefying. I still enjoyed the fries though, and raddish. (Raffish being a bit tougher this time around). The food quality is not the same. It's saddening because this was my go to place on some weekends, but I will not be coming here again if I taste the same food next time around. read more

Kono chicken a Korean fried chicken place, in similar vein to mad for chicken or bonchon chicken. There are two locations, one is this place and the other is somewhere in Murray Hill. This is their newer location but is for take-out/delivery only. It shares the same space with a Korean butcher shop so don't get confused when you walk in to pick up your chicken. My family ordered 12 chicken legs from Kono for Thanksgiving... I just really dislike cooking turkey when I know 3/4 of it will be leftover. I also don't like turkey in general because it's such a dry meat. I mean, the pilgrims didn't eat turkey because it tasted good, they kind of had to. Pretty sure they could have just as well eaten chicken but could not since they were barely getting by. Doesn't mean we have to eat such dry meat. I mean, it requires both gravy and cranberry sauce for goodness sake! You can't argue that it's not dry when the two must-have "sides" with large chunks of turkey meat are there to ensure it doesn't taste too dry. ANYHOW. They were good Korean fried chicken legs. Looking at the pictures of their main location, I would personally STAY AWAY from their wings as you get 16 wings for the same price of 12 chicken legs. It's not like the chicken is DRY either (unlike turkey) so the legs are pretty good. For the sauce, I would put it pretty close to MFC. So now that MFC has gone and shrunk their wing sizes to may an inch and a half (check out my MFC reviews with pictures), I'll most likely end up visiting Kono much more. I also hear their other dishes are pretty good as well. Might try them out as well. They also gave a free can of soda, which was nice of them. I believe the owner of Kono is the same person who owned Kyedong Chicken. If you're craving some MFC-esq chicken with bonchon-esq portions and you're okay taking it to go, order legs from Kono. Don't come complaining to me if you order their small wings and end up hating your life. I just wish they would expand to a place on northern with actual seating and service... Chicken over turkey! read more
