I told them I wanted legs and wings when they asked me. Ended up with 9 legs and one small piece of wing, the mid section only. I did counted the chicken before I left since other reviews stated sometimes chicken were missing. The serving size for pork belly and feet are generous. They are very tasty but filing at the same time. It's served with sides like pickled turnips, lettuce and sauce. A few pieces fill me up already since they were very heavy. My husband loved it. The thinly sliced pork belly melted in my mouth with a mixture of tangy spices from the sauce- "Scrumptious." Onto the Fried Chicken legs, with its plump crispy outside, meat was juicy and tender on the inside. Flavour profile of my chicken was exactly what I wanted, cooked to perfection. Chicken came with an extra Soy Garlic sauce that I just can't stop dipping into. Kono is also a Korean butcher shop, meat products look fresh and clean. I also liked that their radish mu was not as pungent or sour versus other chains. This place seems to have changed their chicken recipe... A while back the fried chicken had a thin batter so the soy garlic flavor was more pronounced. Now the texture is thicker, with a breading kind of similar to popeyes...Ordering via phone was easy, an order of 2 large chicken wings and legs took about 30 minutes. I will not be coming back. I need consistency, and today, my experience from Kongo was horrible. My friend ordered a $30 combo... large order of wings/drumsticks, calamari, fries, with a soda. When I opened the order, we were missing half our order. We had 11 pieces of chicken only... which was one piece more than a small combo. I usually pay $19 for this !!! Also, the chicken drumsticks and wings were tiny. I don't know what happened with their food!!! The calamari is a strip now, no longer rings. Review is solely on the fried chicken wings. I tried this place due to my go-to fried chicken spot being closed today. The experience left a lot to be desired. 20 wings was $30... holy mackerel that's insanely expensive for wings! But then again, my thought process was, if it's delicious, definitely worth it. I arrive at the place a little past the time that I specified (5-10 minutes; there was some traffic along the way), but I'm handed 3 boxes that weren't remotely warm. They had cooled down a lot, probably from sitting on the table way before my 5:45 pickup. Maybe management had an off-day, or maybe Memorial Day had something to do with it. But if the restaurant's website is going to allow customers to choose a pick-up time for the same quality food that they would get if they ordered in-store, then please don't make the food in advance and let it sit out. I happen to find the menu here to be relatively easier to comprehend for anyone that cannot read Korean. The prices and combos are identical to the ones at the original location but there's a better explanation as to what comes in each combo. A larger order of soy garlic chicken legs will never be a wrong decision. They're crisp, juicy, flavorful, and enormous legs. The fries have a seasoned batter so be warned: eat in moderation and don't get addicted. The take-out orders come with a side of pickled daikon (radish) which adds a sweet and tart crunch. It's a great way to cleanse your palate after such sweet and savory chicken legs. Street parking also doesn't prove to be difficult. I loved this place when it was down by parsons, also known as kyedong. Unlike chicken places now that come with all sorts of different flavors, sometimes you just want a good old fashioned soy sauce marinated fried chicken and kono is the spot. Their pieces are huge compared to places like bonchon and mad for chicken. Only down side is that this new spot is take out only. This store shares a store front with a surprisingly modern butcher store so don't worry you didn't go into the wrong store. Kono chicken a Korean fried chicken place, in similar vein to mad for chicken or bonchon chicken. There are two locations, one is this place and the other is somewhere in Murray Hill. This is their newer location but is for take-out/delivery only. It shares the same space with a Korean butcher shop so don't get confused when you walk in to pick up your chicken. My family ordered 12 chicken legs from Kono for Thanksgiving... I just really dislike cooking turkey when I know 3/4 of it will be leftover. I also don't like turkey in general because it's such a dry meat. I mean, the pilgrims didn't eat turkey because it tasted good, they kind of had to. Pretty sure they could have just as well eaten chicken but could not since they were barely getting by. Doesn't mean we have to eat such dry meat. I mean, it requires both gravy and cranberry sauce for goodness sake! You can't argue that it's not dry when the two must-have "sides" with large chunks of turkey meat are there to ensure it doesn't taste too dry. ANYHOW. They were good Korean fried chicken legs. Looking at the pictures of their main location, I would personally STAY AWAY from their wings as you get 16 wings for the same price of 12 chicken legs. It's not like the chicken is DRY either (unlike turkey) so the legs are pretty good. For the sauce, I would put it pretty close to MFC. So now that MFC has gone and shrunk their wing sizes to may an inch and a half (check out my MFC reviews with pictures), I'll most likely end up visiting Kono much more. I also hear their other dishes are pretty good as well. Might try them out as well. They also gave a free can of soda, which was nice of them. I believe the owner of Kono is the same person who owned Kyedong Chicken. If you're craving some MFC-esq chicken with bonchon-esq portions and you're okay taking it to go, order legs from Kono. Don't come complaining to me if you order their small wings and end up hating your life. I just wish they would expand to a place on northern with actual seating and service...
