It's Corn Pizza Week! My family loves coming here. Good pizza. Reasonable prices. No need to pick and choose. They only make one kind of pizza each day. And I like that the pizza is always vegetarian so I can bring my vegetarian friends too. I highly recommend getting a container of green sauce on the side to go with your pizza, it's a little spicy and adds a nice kick to the pizza flavor. My kids enjoy the live music performances. They have different local bands play at different times. The live music makes the place feel welcoming and fun. If you are picky about food, you better check the online menu before you show up. They have pizza, gluten free pizza, and salad. That's it. If you are allergic to something in the pizza of the day, you can always buy takeout nearby and eat with your friends together outdoor.
It's been a long time since I have been here probably last time was around 2020 or so; so my husband took it to go for us; and I am sad to say this place has changed significantly. The cost of the pies are $26 dollar for their pizza of the say; and $22 for their cheese pizza; they charge $2.50 for the green sauce (which used to be be free and self serve but that's not longer the case, which is annoying); and they charge $5 for the to go sauce, but the sauce is super watered down. The sauce used to be better, but it's kind of cheap that they took away the self serve free option, as the value isn't there anymore. The corn with coconut curry pizza was not good either. The cheese pizza (it's cheese with the crust and no sauce) is good but that's because who doesn't love cheese and bread? But overall it's not worth the hype anymore. this definitely changed since Covid as it's no longer the pizza spot I loved, and I am sad to write this review. Their service is good, their ambience is loud (but that's what the spot it); and what I like is that employees seemed happy, which is why I gave this spot 2 vs 1. For the flavor and pizza itself I think the coconut curry corn pizza is 0 stars; the green sauce now is 1 stars. It's definitely not the pizza spot I used to love for decades, but now this pizza spot has become unapologetically mediocre
Quite the long line on a Wednesday evening and waited around 30 minutes. The flavor of the day was corn, red onion, mozzarella, tomatillo sauce, queso fresco, cilantro. I got the half pie (4 slices) which was quite filling and I had leftovers. The pizza was delicious and flavorful with a nice crust. I also got the green sauce which was full of flavor and definitely enhanced the pizza. Would highly recommend getting the green sauce. Vibes were on point, there was a live band and it was a fun atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating available, though it can get really crowded.
I love this place and wish I lived closer. I first tried Cheese Board in 2013 when I lived in Emeryville and was blown away. I grew up in NYC & New Jersey so I'm picky with pizza and generally keep it simple. I remember the first time I tried this place, the daily pizza was something like eggplant parmesan. Definitely not something I'd try normally, but I ended up loving it! This place always has a line but it's worth it. Affordable and mouth watering pizza with immaculate vibes. There was a mariachi band playing during my last visit as it was right before Cinco de Mayo :)
Rain or shine, there's always a line at this Berkeley favorite for pizza by slice or pie. Unique variations that you will likely not find elsewhere. Today we had cheese with olive oil, garlic, fresh corn and squash. Don't forget to squeeze some lime and dip in the scrumptious green sauce! The line moved fast as we listened to a local band play. Both indoor and outdoor seating at an energetic and fun atmosphere!
My daughter is in town from college & I wanted to take her out for pizza. Last minute we yelped & picked Cheeseboard because we wanted to be able to bring our dog. Pizza flavor the day I went: Crushed Tomato, Red Onion, Mozzarella, Garlic, Olive Oil, Basil-Pine nut Parmesan Unexpectedly... which was fine, I learned: 1. they serve a different flavor pizza every day so check online for the flavor of the day 2. Some days have live music 3. No DoorDash or Togo orders (unless you're ordering a big order like 6 whole pizzas) 4. Everyone has to stand in line to order Pros: -pizza is delicious & everyone seemed to love their food -vegan , gluten free & half baked options -music -the line was long , to me that means the food is good -people get up constantly, so finding a seat was not hard -pet friendly Cons: -the line wraps down the street, didn't really want to stand in a long line -mostly outdoor seating options
I really hesitated to write this review. Because I'm with the outliers who think this spot is overhyped. Way overhyped. I had this on my list given the amazing reviews but man, I just don't get it. I also understand they only serve one and only one type of pizza per day and it changes daily. I was in Emeryville so it was time to check this off my list. Arrived and it was maybe 5? There was already a line. And this is always a good sign. As we got closer, we could hear lively jazz music. Amazing that a pizza place would have live music. 5 stars! Line was long but moved relatively quickly. It stalled a little when I was one person behind until the register. But I get it - they were waiting on hot fresh pizza and I notice they would cut the "older" pizza into smaller slices and threw them into half or whole order pizzas as something extra. Finally placed an order and I'm so glad I opted for a half pizza ($13) instead of a whole ($26). Sometimes, being a skeptic pays off. The staff works quick and the cashier was friendly. Service - 5 stars! Got my fresh hot half pizza. Sat down, took a photo and took a bite, expecting something as amazing as most if not all the reviews on here. But...man was I underwhelmed. Crust is thin and crispy at the edges and plenty of cheese but no cheese pull as I bit and pull the pizza away. This nice, it was the asparagus something something. There really wasn't much flavor or layers. As I ate more of it, I realized what it was. And then it had me wondering what qualifies as pizza? Is it just any flat dough with toppings, whether with sauce or no sauce. But if there's no sauce, wouldn't it just be flatbread or just cheesy flatbread with toppings? Well...call it what you want but today's offering was a cheesy flatbread with a bunch of vegetarian toppings. And thus, the lack of complex flavors. I also understand why people say to get the green sauce but I didn't want a spicy sauce. A marinara sauce would've been really nice. I'm not a local here so I can't come according to my liking based on their pizza schedule but tonight, the cheesy flatbread pizza with asparagus, red onion, mozzarella, toasted garlic Parmesan, garlic olive oil, and parsley just didn't cut it for me. Felt completely underwhelmed and sadly and honestly, this place fell so short for me but I gave it 3 stars given the live music and the staff there. For tonight's pizza, it was more like a 2.5. No-go for me. And definitely so glad I went with a half and not a whole order. Because IMHO, this place is just straight up cheesy cheesiness. Nothing much more.
My brother and sister-in-law picked up a whole pizza from Cheese Board Pizza and generously shared it with us. I was excited to try it since I've never had it and had always heard about it from friends. Roasted Eggplant, mozzarella, house made tzatziki sauce, fried spiced chickpeas, mint, parsley (4/5). Flavorful, creamy, and the spiced chickpeas added a different flavor profile. The mint and parsley was so good on this pizza. The crust was thin and crispy but where the sauce was, it could be a little soggy. I would definitely eat this pizza again! Support your local business.
This place is popular for a reason! The only offer one flavor each day but it was really good when we went. There is indoors and outdoor seating as well as standing tables. There was also nice live music went i went. Taste: Pizza really tasted fresh and the flavors blended well. Parking: This was street parking so it's tricky. I heard there is plaza parking near though
Cheese Board never disappoints! All of their flavors are always delicious - our pizza flavor was organic zucchini, red onion, herbed fresh ricotta (ricotta made in Berkeley by Belfiore), mozzarella, garlic olive oil, parsley and the salad was spiced tomato-cucumber pickle, Valbreso feta cheese, organic salad mix, cumin-coriander vinaigrette. We got a side of green sauce as well. I always appreciate the extra small slices and the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The line was not bad at all for 5:30pm on a Saturday night and we took ours pizza to go to eat at Live Oak Park nearby. The live music at Cheese Board is also one of my favorite things!
Best pizza in the bay! Whenever I'm in East Bay, I crave cheeseboard-- they just know how to make amazing thin crust pizza! They somehow change their flavor every day and they perfect it each time. How can a place just serve one pizza and have a giant line out the door? You must buy the green sauce to dip your pizza in- it's the perfect complement and has a spicy kick to it. Get a full pizza and a large sauce- you won't regret it. The vibes on the weekend are incredible! There's plenty of tables and outdoor seating and even a live band that sets the mood.
I usually see a long line so I avoided this place like the plague. They also only do vegetarian options only, which is the real reason why I avoided it lol. I was all wrong about this place. The line went by quick maybe no more than 10-15 minutes. They were crunching out pizza like clockwork. The pizza crust had this crispy texture and held up well when folding. The topping didn't slide right off either. I'd have to say this was a very well made pizza. I love how they added 2 slices on top of the whole pizza. I may have to come back again soon. Highly recommend getting their green sauce. I didn't find it spicy but it eventually snuck up on me. Nice little heat!
I've heard great things about the pizza here, but never got around to trying it until now. The long lines always intimidated me. But now that I tried it, it actually wasn't bad at all! The line moved very quickly, and I was probably out with my pizza within 10 minutes. There's also plenty of outdoor seating area to quickly eat. I have to admit, I'm a picky eater when it comes to veggies. But luckily, today's pizza was a simple cheese and basil. And it was probably the best cheese pizza I've ever had! It had a perfect thin crust, and every bite had some garlic flavor too. The only reason I probably won't be returning often is the lack of protein, but that's just my personal preference. I can see how awesome this place would be for vegetarians!
Delicious vegetarian pizza!' Today's special was organic heirloom tomatoes, red onions, mozzarella, garlic, olive oil, basil, pine nuts & parmesan. My first time here - they're closed on Sundays when I'm most often in Berkeley. The staff here & at the Cheese Board (cheese, bread, pastries, coffee) two doors north are super nice, helpful & efficient! And there's live music - guitar & violin today. P.S. I brought a pie for Mom to try - usually a picky & light eater, she had two slices, plus a Cheese Board sourdough cheese pastry! ;) read more
Fitting to end the year reviewing Cheeseboard's New Year Eve pizza. Appearing only once a year, this pizza is loaded with 10+ kinds of mushrooms. Heaven for any fungi fiend. Umami level off the charts. It's so popular that I had to wait 40+ minutes in the rain to get my pie. Kudos to the staff for managing the crowd smoothly. Points for giving us cubes of havarti while we waited. read more
Continues to be the best pizza ever. We came 30 minutes before opening and the line formed down the street and around the corner! The pizza here will always be worth the wait because they switch up the flavors daily and it's always vegan. They also have jazz musicians that will play tunes while you eat inside or at the outside seating. read more

What is not to love? Great Live music, positive upbeat energy, great pizzas, bonus points because they are also beer and wine and staff is always friendly and warm and plenty tables indoor and outdoors! Always a line (no matter lunch time or dinner time, weekday or weekend) but it moves fast :-) Came here with the in laws and our 7 year old and they loved this style of pizza which we are so fond of :) we shared salad and enjoyed with some beer Oh yes and the spicy green sauce which is always a hit and goes so well with the pizza! The in laws also got some cheese from their bakery adjacent. Life is good! read more
A friend brought Cheese Board Pizza, and it was absolutely delicious! They rotate their pizzas daily, so there aren't options to choose from, but I can imagine anything with their green sauce would be amazing. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've had and I've had my fair share, especially from my time in New York. All that cheese! Meet up with a few friends for pizza night because the pizza here is insanely good--fresh, creative, and always changing, but always amazing. After placing our order we found a spot to sit and there was a live band that evening. It was nice to have some live music while we caught up on each others lives. We got one with potato on it (I forgot what it was called!), and it was the perfect combo of savory and satisfying, with gooey, melty cheese that pulled it all together beautifully. The lines can get long, but they move quickly and are totally worth it. The vibe is fun and laid-back It's one of those places that feels uniquely Berkeley--in the best possible way. Finally made it to the Cheese Board Pizza Collective in Berkeley -- a spot I've wanted to try for years. They serve one style of pizza a day, and when it's gone, it's gone. Today's slice with baby chard and kale, leek, mozzarella, ricotta salata, garlic olive oil, and citrus zest was fresh, unique, and seriously good. I'm usually a simple pizza guy, but this one delivered. Absolutely worth the wait. A true Berkeley staple. read more

Probably one of the best pizza places in the Bay! I absolutely love their green sauce--it adds such a great kick which is like a pesto, garlic mustard sauce. The prices are very reasonable (around $25 for one pie). The pizza I had was topped with roasted Yukon Gold potatoes, baby spinach, Valbreso feta, mozzarella, house-made curry sauce (with coconut), fresh lime, and cilantro. It was delicious. My only gripe is that I wish it had some meat, but I get that it's a vegetarian pizza. Still, easily a 10/10. This is a quick-service spot--you pay and get your food right away. And whatever pizza they're making that day is the only one available to order. Service was fine, though there's very limited seating. The ambiance is nothing special, but when I visited, there was live music, which was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place, especially if you're a tourist or just visiting the Bay Area. Overhyped Pizza with a Long Wait This pizza spot is always packed, and while the line moves quickly, the overall experience didn't live up to the hype. The vibe is casual, with limited indoor seating and mostly outdoor seating (first-come, first-served), which is fine, but nothing too special. When we got to the counter, the host didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. Just a quick "what do you want?"--not the warmest welcome. We ordered a whole pie with green sauce, and they only serve one type of pizza on any given day, which that day was a Margherita. The pizza itself is huge, but honestly, kind of underwhelming. The crust is basic, the cheese and toppings are simple, and while it's definitely filling, it didn't blow me away at all. It's a bit oily, and the flavors just didn't do much for me. The crushed tomatoes and basil were decent, but nothing remarkable. The green sauce, though, was the standout--flavorful and a nice touch, but it wasn't enough to save the pizza for me. Honestly, I can see this being the type of pizza you grab after a night of drinking when you're not too worried about flavor. But as for all the hype and five-star reviews, I just don't get it. I hadn't been here in years--since 2010. I came on a Thursday around 5pm and lucked out with parking right in front of Cheese Board, next to the traffic light. I got in line and ended up by the Cheese Board Bakery door (which I don't remember being there before). The wait was only about 5 minutes. There was indoor and outdoor seating, plus a live band playing inside the restaurant. The space is a little tight, but people are in and out--it's meant for a quick bite. The atmosphere was super chill and fun. Customers were respectful and cleaned up after themselves so others could grab a table or chair. While I was ordering, another staff member behind the counter was already listening and prepping at the same time. I got a whole pizza and a large green sauce before my payment even finished processing--that's how fast the service was. The pizza was just like I remembered--thin with a crispy crust. The pizza of the day wasn't anything extraordinary, just a classic mozzarella cheese base. But the house-made tomato sauce and especially the green sauce were absolutely bomb. Toppings were nothing wild--just some arugula--but everything was fresh and tasty. I'll definitely go back again to see if it's like I remember from years ago read more

Best pizza I've ever had. Line was long for dinner rush, but makes sense because of how good it was. Green sauce was good, but I wouldn't say it's a must. Pizza tasted very fresh. Pizza is given to you right after ordering. Don't go too late otherwise they might run out or substitute specific ingredients with something else. read more

One of Berkeley's iconic pizza spots. Don't be put off by the line, it moves quickly since there's only one pizza flavor of the day. Within 30 seconds after you pay, there'll be a hot and fresh pizza in your hands. The crust is crunchy, pizza is slightly medium thick with a chew, and generous amount of cheese and toppings. The green sauce is garlicky, pesto-inspired: bright, zesty, and packs a little punch. Grab a seat inside or park your pizza along the outdoor area and enjoy your pizza while hot with some fantastic live tunes. An East Bay classic for a reason~ They do vegetarian pizza like no other. The fact that it's always busy even with only one special pizza a day speaks volumes. Upon lining up, I can tell this place is meant for the locals based on the vibes. The workers are pretty nice too. The line looks long but moves quickly. The pizza of the day was a potato curry pizza. HEAR ME OUT, it was one of the best things I've had. I probably wouldn't crave this particular combo often, but I acknowledge that it's special! I never would've ever thought about curry sauce on pizza but it WORKS. I also popped over to the bakery to grab some pastries and a sourdough loaf to take home. I recommend for goodies to bring home for the week. ALSO THEIR GREEN HOT SAUCE IS BOMB. You can buy a container to-go too. Will try to make it over to the East Bay for this sometime again. It's perfect for dipping whatever pizza they are serving! They are very generous with portion size like if you order a full pizza they throw a few extra slices on top! Most recently came on a Saturday at 11:30 when they open and there was already a pretty big line but moved quickly and pizza came out quick and hot! Lots of seating inside and outside! They had jazz music on the day we went, which was really fun with a live singer. Next-door, they have their bakery where you can order different baked goods. They have a fun drink selection. This place is apparently signature Berkeley eats. They have a different pizza flavor every day, which I think is so fun. Next door they also have a cheese shop and bakery. We went for lunch on a Saturday, and there was live music playing. After a little line, we got a whole pie and large green sauce (I saw someone dunk their whole slice in it), it came with the 2 bonus slivers on top, their crust is so crispy and delicious, and this is probably the best pizza I've had. Stopped by Cheeseboard on a Friday afternoon and was thrilled to find only a short line. A live band was playing, creating such a fun and lively vibe. For just $3.25, I got a slice of pizza that was piping hot, with a crispy crust and amazing, flavorful cheese. The pizza came out fast and was absolutely delicious. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, so you can enjoy your slice however you like. Great food, great atmosphere, and a price that can't be beat -- Cheeseboard never disappoints! read more

Definitely one of the best pizzas I have ever had. I am usually a huge meat fan and did not think I would love a vegetarian pizza this much, but Cheese Board completely changed my mind. The menu changes every day, which makes it exciting to come back because there is always something new to try. No matter what is on the menu, the flavors are balanced, creative, and always delicious. Their signature green sauce is amazing -- tangy, herby, and the perfect complement to the pizza. What really sets Cheese Board apart is the quality. You can taste that they use fresh, high-quality ingredients in every bite. The crust is chewy and flavorful, the toppings are generous, and it never feels greasy or heavy. If there's only one thing you can try in Berkeley, let it be this. The best part about studying at Cal for me was this pizza (go bears!) Even if you normally don't like pizza or vegetarian, try this. You won't regret it. The dough is not regular pizza dough, it's sourdough with the right amount of chewiness. MUST eat with the green sauce. Line is always long but it goes very fast. Been coming to Cheese Board for years but this was the first time we dined in! This is a true Berkeley staple and a must try if you are in the area. They had live music which was a great way to kick off the long weekend! Always check the menu ahead of time as they have a rotating menu and only have one pizza a day. Whenever around the Berkeley area, we make it a point to stop by Cheese Board and get their unique pizza of the day. If you're vegetarian or vegan, this is the perfect place to grab some pizza. Their pizza is so good, it's even great for us meat eaters! Make sure to always purchase their green sauce. It gives the pizza a nice kick. Oh and don't be scared if you see a long line, the staff here is very quick and efficient! Even if the line goes around the corner, stand and line for their pizza, you will not regret it. Oh, and don't be fooled by other places that try to copy Cheese Board Pizza's One Type of Pizza for the day, this is the OG place and is way better than the imitators haha. If you do decide to eat there, it does get pretty packed. There are benches and tables outside. There's also some stand up tables. Oh and certain days they have live music, which is awesome. We were a bit confused about which line to join. There wasn't a sign indicating whether the line was for their cheese shop or the pizza line, so we initially got in the wrong one. Once we figured it out, the correct line moved quickly, and the cashier who took our order was super nice and friendly. The menu is simple: they offer one type of pizza per day. On the day we went, the main veggie was eggplant. I'm not usually a fan of eggplant, so I was worried I wouldn't enjoy it, but I was pleasantly surprised! The texture reminded me of mushrooms, and the pizza was incredibly flavorful, especially for being vegetarian. We ordered half a pizza, and they generously gave us two extra slices! They only have one kind of pizza a day, but the quality was exceptional. They also have this delicious green spicy sauce (medium/mild spicy) and roasted garlic (which they don't advertise). Yes, you can pre order gluten free crust or obtain there until they run out.
How large are the whole and half-size pizzas?
I don't know the size in inches but the half size pizzas are 4 slices and full size are 8 (but they add two bonus slices to the full size, making it 10). I would estimate the full size pizza to be somewhere between a Domino's medium and large pizza

They only have one size for the pizza which is about 16" inches and has 8 slices. If you order a whole pizza, they give extra thin slices of pizza on top! You can also order by the slice and half pizzas.
