As a vegan I usually get the vegetable plate. It comes with a house salad ( I pick this without Jesse or egg) or soup and 4 sides. They have broccoli, French fries, sweet potato and other things. I usually get double broccoli and double fries or double broccoli, sweet potato and fries. It's a place that's not vegan, that I feel I have a go to option at. Although would be awesome if they made a vegan dish. But until then, this works. read more

Sat down today without a wait or line. We placed a drink and appetizer order. I received my frozen drink without a straw. My husband never received his drink. We waited 10+ minutes for a straw. We waited a total of 45 minutes; my husbands drink never arrived and our appetizers never arrived. Our waitress, I don't remember her name, was not knowledgeable on the menu and had two other tables. We came on a very busy Sunday afternon, with the after church crowd prevalent. We had about a fifteen minute wait and were then seated. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken with baby carrots and southern green beans. When the waitress saw that we were out of chips (our appetizer - queso and chips) she promptly asked us if we wanted more. The entrees arrived in a reasonable amount of time and were good. The pot pie was steaming hot. The lemon pepper chicken was good, and the baby carrot side was fantastic! Definitely a side worth getting again. I went last Saturday night and waited an hour or so to be seated. When I was seated the waiter told me that some of his other patrons were very angry with the length of the wait and took it out on him. No one forces a patron to wait the hour, so if you do wait, no need to be rude to the wait-staff who have nothing to do with it. Anyway, I'd been to Cheddar's one other time, and both times, I've been pleased. The cool thing about Cheddar's is that the ambiance is very pleasant and elegant, the waiters are dressed nicely, and still the prices are so affordable, the food is delicious and the portions are huge! During my second visit, my mom and I had two entrees and two waters for about 18 dollars or so plus tip. Both entrees, I believe, were the tilapia with mango sauce, which were served with rice and a choice of two sides. Great place, but next time, I'll likely make reservations. read more

Yes, the wait time is a drag, but if you come at the right time, you can get sat relatively easily. I came here with my family for lunch on a Monday at around 11:30 am and got a table immediately. This is my mom's favorite restaurant so she told us that if we don't come before noon we would have to wait. I had never even heard of Cheddars before. Anyway, our waitress was a cute, pregnant girl who was very attentive. I had a hard time picking something out and she made some good recommendations. The menu has such a variety. There's pasta, seafood, burgers, nachos, salads...I mean, everything. The food was really good. Much better than a Chili's and the prices are crazy-low. Our four entrees with drinks and an appetizer came out to $48 and 3 of these were tilapia, salmon, and a pasta with shrimp. That's an incredible deal! When we were leaving, we noticed that the seating areas by the door were already full and there were a ton of people in the parking lot. It's just a matter of time until there are Cheddars all over San Antonio. read more

As others have mentioned the service leaves a lot to be desired. That said, I've been here three times now: once the day they opened, once last week, and again a couple of days ago. The first time it took nearly 1hr 45 minutes for lunch... luckily boss was gone that day. The second time we stayed at the bar and ended up with a free pilsner of beer which led to me recommending it for dinner this week. The service was much improved and the price for their food is great. They apparently don't have drink specials which is a bit frustrating for us alcoholics but good for the families out there, I suppose. Cliff notes: Service is lacking but improving. I would actually give 3 & 1/2 stars because some of the menu items are good and some are very good. My favorite is the key west chicken and shrimp. I love the pineapple pico that tastes great with the rice pilaf because it has enough kick with the hot pepper that balances the slightly salty and sweet teriyaki style sauce. I add corn as my side which I mix together with the rice, sauce and salsa which creates a meld of flavors that wakes up almost all your different taste buds. If you like sweet, salty, spicy all at the same time, then you might like that dish. They have a lighter similar dish with grilled fish that is pretty good that has a side of salad that's topped with this delicious raspberry vinaigrette that substitutes for the corn's sweetness so you still get the sweet, salty and spicy combination. My other favorite item is the croissant. They are so flaky and topped with a butter sauce that just tastes so delicious. I could eat half a dozen of those. My kids like the pasta and marinara sauce and the chicken pot pie. My husband likes the spasagna . Also has one of the best strawberry lemonade in town. Overall, there's so much variety on their menu, everyone can find something they might enjoy. Update 6/2/18 I was a little disappointed with my last night's visit. They no longer make rice pilaf. They just make rice cooked in broth and call it pilaf. There weren't the veggies or flavor it used to have. Then the dish didn't have the extra teriyaki sauce poured over the chicken and shrimp so that made the dish more dry. The croissants were good but they didn't drizzle much honey butter sauce like they used to so the croissants felt a little dry also. So sad they changed up their perfect dish to probably save a little money. read more

This place is usually very good but my previous visit here wasn't the best. I usually go with the usual and order the Burboun Salmon but I wanted to try something different. I tried the Tilapia with Mango salsa with the always good broccoli casserole with a macaroni cheese. I was informed by my very attentive waiter Juan that it was a newly introduced side. It was very good. Although the taste was there the bad side of it was that all of my food was cold. You can dress casual here or fancy, either way you choose you'll definitely be getting away with it here! The ambiance is energetic and nice. Went to Cheddar's on I-10 and and the one on 410 and was not impressed with their food. Service was not all that great. The food was okay but not great. I guess this would be a place that you would have to come visit another time and choose a different dish to see if you're going to enjoy it but the last two times that I've been to Cheddar's I didn't really care for it. It was very crowded when we arrived but it was only a 10 minutes wait for us to get seated. Our waiter got with us really quickly and delivered our drinks and food promptly. He also checked on us multiple times during our meal, so service was great. The food was decent. It wasn't terrible but it also wasn't anything to brag about. It reminds me of a Chili's dining experience but of course with different types of food. For two people with an appetizer, non-alcoholic drinks, and two entrees it cost about $35. I will probably go back again, but it won't be my first choice of places to go. read more

I had been waiting for business to slow down, so I could go and visit at normal non-rush hour business to review. It never happened. The parking lot always looks packed from 410. I decided to visit at around 2PM. The lunch crowd was on the way out. The menu is limited, most of it is chicken or something fried. I ordered the Tilapia, which seemed to be their best entree. I was not expecting it to be good, but I almost licked the plate. I was told the beer prices were cheap compared to other food franchise locations. The price tag was really cheap, under $10 with a drink. I do not think it would be worth a second visit. Maybe with a group. read more

Appetizer was cold, cheese wasnt even all the way melted and fries were old. How an appetizer that took 15 min to come out is cold is beyond me. Hubby and I were out looking at homes and with gift card in hand, came for lunch. Super, super friendly staff that kinda overdid the cheerful greeting but were promptly seated and a very sweet heavily earringed young man, Brody was our waiter. Food was very good. We both had tea and the classic lunches..he had the Caesar and monte crisco and I had the side salad and half a club. Also shared the huge stack of onion rings..they were crispy and served with a horseradish and a ranch dressing. My bluecheese dressing had huge chunks of bluecheese in it. Needed to go boxes that Brody cheerfully got for us. Really enjoyed our meal and experience and now that I know how to reach them from Potranco and avoiding the 410 mess, will be coming more often (loved the little Crossaints served with salad) read more

Our waiter had a problem with our drinks every time he came to the table. Not joking- three different women drinking three different mixed drinks and he had a problem every time we asked for another drink. Lemon pepper chicken was nothing to write home about. It came out dry and rubbery and not lemon/peppery. It also tasted very salty,I'm not convinced that these weren't frozen filets they nuked. I always visit this location, I love the sirloin and rib combo, my wife had a chicken fried chicken that came out mouthwatering steamy it was delicious and my son had marinara pasta. If you're strapped for cash and want a good sit down meal Cheddars is definitely the place to go. We went on a Wednesday night for a table of 5 and the wait was 20-25 minutes...not bad considering the amount of people waiting outside. The place is always packed and there are always people waiting outside. Waiter was friendly and meals came at a reasonable time. All meals are under $15 and have over enough portions...you just can't beat that! They have anything from steaks and burgers to chicken alfredo and fish tacos. What can get pricey are the alcoholic beverages...which for sure can add up! Delicious cheap meal in a laid back environment watching the Spurs game near the bar area. Terrible service: Waiter took our order and disappeared for 25 mins. Brought our food and without silverware, then disappeared for another 10 minutes before we decided to leave. When we told him that we'd be leaving without paying since the food was now cold and he still had not brought us any silverware, he simply shrugged his shoulders with a devil-may-care look on his face. What a great meal! Had the 11 oz center cut sirloin; they actually got the temp right, rare/med rare. One of the best steaks in a long time for the price. Started off the meal with, what everyone at the table declared as mmmm... yummy, honey glazed croissants. Like I said, the steak was perfect. My meal came with two sides and I chose sweet baby carrots and red beans & rice. Both were great. The carrots were tender/crisp with a touch of honey glaze and the red beans & rice had pieces of sausage, really good flavors. Good service, good value. The service provided was nice and even if our server was unsure of the wine menu options we asked he was able to come back with an answer. The restaurant was crazy busy but he still served us with a smile. You get a huge amount of home made, scratch food for a great price which may seem funny to say about a chain restaurant. However they pride themselves with delicious and affordable meals, which they have every right to and their volume of costumers show it. I, myself, couldn't finish the Baked Spagana with meat lover's sauce but it was just as delicious reheated at home. Their prices are outrageously cheap for both food and drinks. I would recommend this scratch kitchen to anyone who wants that loving home cooked taste and also for the price as if you made it yourself. read more

The food was pretty good, But please check your receipt, I had to ask for an itemized receipt because somehow the bill for 2 was $60. Then when I asked supposedly there was an issue where tenders which are only $4 ended up making the bill $12 more expensive I also had a big problem with the service. My brother and I noticed that our waitress treated the bigger table way better than us. Other servers were terrific with other tables but our toward us seemed indifferent and annoyed. Waiter was very inattentive to our table, as we entered and were sat we were immediately greeted with flies rather than service. I would give the benefit of the doubt to the waiter as he may be over worked but that's not an excuse for this establishments sloppy and poor service. Upon receiving my food (14oz ribeye and Caesar salad) the Caesar salad dressing was very acidic in flavour and my steak, requested at medium rare, came back as well done. Upon clarifying with the server AND manager that I'd simply like a discount rather than it removed from my tab the manager unwillingly declined and took all my food and removed it from my tab. I will not be coming back or referring anybody or loved ones to this establishment as this was very unprofessional, I don't blame the staff as the root of this problem lies in poor management. We ate here last night because we had a good dining experience in the past. Today, however, we were left pretty disappointed. They don't have child sized cups, so although there was a lid on the cup my daughter was given, the glass and straw stood higher than her head on the table. This caused her to pour her drink on herself with every attempt to sip. We were given a small dish of lemons with our drinks. We discovered two USED lemons in our bowl. It took a while to get our food. All of us had fried items in our order, non of which were seafood. However, all of it had a strong taste of shrimp and fish, as if fried in the same batch as seafood.
