Let me preface that I have never had a bad experience here, never, not even once!! It's so amazing here! The servers are always so kind and attentive, the food is always delicious and extremely authentic. I usually come here for breakfast/brunch and I never regret it. I would recommend Tlahco to anyone wanting to experience authentic Mexican food in SA.

Tlahco instantly became one of my favorite spots in San Antonio. I've probably been here a dozen times, and the food consistently tastes like it was made in someone's home kitchen in the very best way -- super flavorful, authentic, comforting, and full of that real, no-shortcuts sazón you just don't find everywhere. The service is just as memorable. Everyone is friendly and attentive without making you feel rushed, and the whole place has this relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. If you're craving authentic, heartfelt Mexican food that truly tastes homemade, Tlahco is such a solid choice. I'm already planning what to order next time. Tip: It gets really busy during peak hours (for good reason), and seating is limited -- join the waitlist before you arrive so you're not stuck waiting outside!

We've ordered from this place twice and both times gotten the Parrillada Mixta al Carbon for 2 - steak, chicken, shrimp, sausage, quesadillas, jalapeno poppers, roasted corn, grilled onions, guacamole, salsas, tortillas, rice, and beans. And hooooly moly. The second time we ordered we were nervous that we were overthinking how good it was the first time. Thank goodness we were not. It was just as good on round two. Highly, highly recommend.

Wow what an authentic place! Loved the food, ate like a pig... ordered a lot of the menu and was worth it. The service was super nice folks were very attentive and friendly. I felt like was in Mexico the food, the place, the plates everything was really nice im definitely returning here.

Such an amazing spot to have Mexican food in San Antonio. The restaurant is very busy but the waitress was super sweet and they got the coffee and food out fairly quickly. I ordered the cafe de olla and it was so good, it is too sweet for me but the waitress gave me a great tip to mix some regular and cafe de olla coffee and that made it the perfect sweetness for me. I had the chilaquiles verdes and oh my gosh, they are the best chilaquiles I've had in San Antonio. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great place for Mexican food. The decoration and plates are super cute as well. My husband ordered breakfast tacos and they were very large and he said they were really good as well.

Ooof this was surpassed my expectations. Charro beans were some of the best I've ever had. Didn't get to take a pic of everyone else's food but they all had some bangers.

A M A Z I N G Came on a recommendation from a friend. So glad we tried it out!! To begin, the place was pretty empty at 4 pm on Saturday. The hostess told us to sit anywhere we'd like. They came immediately to ask us for drinks. The horchata was so good! They also had offerings of fresh juices and cafe de olla (will be trying that for breakfast one day). The chips and beans were given to us shortly after and they tasted soooo good. We needed time to look at the menu but the waitress was really nice. The inside of the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. The plates remind me of Mexico and it's beautifully handcrafted. All the food was delicious but we definitely favor the sopes and the enchiladas. The concha's came out warm and are so soft! 10/5 will come here many times in the future. Worth the money.

Wow!!! This was seriously maybe the best place I have ever eaten. I suggested it for my coworkers and since we're from out of this state, they agreed with me to go here. As we pulled up the outside looked cute, but honestly when we walked in we were all even more excited. The vibe in here was super energetic with their super nice layout and the fun enjoyable music playing. The food we each order blew our minds and even the basic chips and dips that were dropped off at first were all legit. I always love genuine Mexican food but service is always my main priority and the service here was seriously perfect. This may be a place you drive past if you don't know it but I recommend for you to stop here and even drive many many miles to come here. It is so amazing for sure.

This place reminds me of Brownsville in the best, most nostalgic way. My friend and I saw how good the food looked on Tlahco's instagram and website and decided to give it a shot for Sunday brunch. The inside of the restaurant was like visiting the Valley. We had a 25-minute wait, but it was worth it. There was so much to choose from on the menu, but I picked the cochinita pibil, and my friend picked the mole. We also ordered an horchata and cafe de olla each. The horchata and cafe de olla were perfectly sweet. Both dishes came with a side of rice, beans, and tortillas. (I got 1 corn and 1 flour, and he got two flour) We also had complementary chips and salsa, and much to my delight, they were the homemade thicc and sturdy chips. Nothing will break in those salsas. My dish was served in a GIANT molcajete. It was a little overwhelming to be honest! In fact, all the dishes were so authentic, being heavy clay or volcanic rock. Fortunately I was allowed to take my leftovers home and enjoy them for dinner. Service was great. They were all incredibly polite and never left us waiting. They knew exactly when to approach us. There were some really nice things on the menu I wanted to try but didn't have enough room in my stomach: The conchas with chocolate dipping sauce, the guava pie, and much more. But I guess that gives me a reason to come back and visit, ey?

This restaurant had great service with great ambience. We ordered breakfast tacos and Cafe de olla which was so delicious! This was a second breakfast restaurant we went to that had this kind of coffee and it was so good!

No frills restaurant serving up seriously good food. They have hard, booth-style seating lining the walls. It was decently packed. There seem to be two entrances--a front and a back. Parking might be tight, depending on when you arrive--at least the lot in front is a little cramped, jammed between the main road and the building. With thirst getting the better of us, we opted for Lime Agua Fresca and a Horchata. After rehydrating, we decided to nab Parrillada al Carbon--a platter of mixed grilled meats--accompanied by rice, borracho beans, guacamole, and tortillas. We also enjoyed the chips with bean dip and salsa. It was quite a bit of food, and we took home a doggie bag. The meats were well seasoned and succulent. The shrimp was crisp and not mushy. The quesadilla was hot and cheesy. The jalapeños were juicy and slightly spicy. The grilled onions went with everything. We went through the tortillas pretty quickly, so we asked for more. Friendly service, and fast. I need to remind myself to try out their other offerings when I'm in the area.

Chilaquiles divorciados with 2 eggs and arrechera which is the meat, and Tacos de Barbacoa, Papa con huevo.

We chose this place at random yesterday! We loved our service and all the food was amazing! Our AMAZING waiter Rene P. Is the reason we even came back today for the menudo & the birria plate! Will definitely be back with our waiter Rene! Please ask for him! Our waiter went above and beyond. He was attentive without being overbearing, made excellent recommendations, and made sure everything came out perfectly. He truly elevated our entire dining experience! Lovely and amazing place! Thank you so much Rene! Will definitely be back! Would LOVE to give RENE 10 STARS!!!!!

Do they serve puffy tacos here?

Are the flour tortillas homemade? Do they a tortillera rolling them by hand? Are they above average??? I want to tortillas that are freshly made!!! :)

All the tortillas are homemade , you can't see them making them, but they are homemade tortillas. I would not say they are above average. If you want above average tortillas you need to go to Alamo Café.

    Are there gluten free options?

Service is fast, place is decently clean for the foot traffic, the servers all look happy and eager to work. I ordered tortilla soup, I usually like it with a cup of rice and avocado like most places serve it. However, I definitely think this is a safe Mexican food restaurant when it comes to not overdoing it with spices and the extra stuff. My soup had a decent amount of chicken. I had a mimosa, loved that they used fresh orange juice. Flour tortillas were delicious! Before heading out you need to have the sweet bread!! So goooodd!

People say when in San Antonio, do like the San Antonian's. Nobody really says that. I mean, I just…read moredid, but I also just made it up. With that being said, let's make up a review. Except I'm not actually making the review up, I've been to the place. Both San Antonio and the restaurant moments away from being reviewed. I'm always down for solid Mexican food. It's always pretty damn good. I mean, at the pure base of things, it's basically the same few ingredients, just different vessels to get it to your mouth. I'm never bad about that. I love transportation. Mi Tierra was a pretty great looking place. Plenty of space, a nice outside waiting area, plus a bakery. I have never been to a place with a bakery that I didn't like. It seemed like a very authentic place, and that's coming from a resident of Michigan. A resident that eats Taco Bell. A resident who eats Taco Bell and think's THAT'S authentic Mexican. The first thing I noticed was that this place did not seem to serve burritos. Not a marker really for me, but it was something I've never came across before. I also thought that you were stuck ordering enchiladas or tacos in a meal type of setting. Upon further questioning, you can order a la cart. That was a relief. I ended up ordering the enchiladas Verdes because sometimes I ignore my color palate and go for green. And because I can't just stop eating one form of meat, cheese, and sauce, I ordered a taco. Actually, I just ordered a taco because I wanted a dryer enchilada. Or did I order the enchiladas because I wanted a wetter taco...I don't know anymore. Anywho, I ground beef, American style taco. Now, I've always been a big fan of chips and salsa. Some salsa hits, some miss. Some salsa is pureed and is basically red water. Some salsa is just a full tomato. I like my salsa like I like my orange juice. With extra calcium. Wait. Mild pulp. That's it. This salsa pretty much hit those notes. Had good flavor and a little spice left to linger. The main course came out and everything looked delicious. Green enchiladas looked exactly like I expected. However, it took me a moment to realize I was not looking at a burrito...but instead, my taco. It was served a peculiar way. wrapped, seam down, with a little bit of the meat on top, pico and lettuce on the outside, next to it. It was a burrito peacocking as a taco. I've never seem this display before, and I have been to many Taco Bell and non-Taco Bell restaurants. The taste was pretty good, though. All the taco flavor in a burrito jacket. The enchiladas were pretty decent, too. Everything tasted like it had all the ingredients and that they were in all the right spots. No doubt about it, I was full after e

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
