Whenever I travel, I make it a point to visit unique restaurants and experience what a city has to offer. Domingo was one of those places that completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale, and inviting. The architecture and design throughout the restaurant are absolutely stunning. Even the restrooms were impressive and reflected the same attention to detail found throughout the entire establishment. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the preparation and presentation of every plate. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. My waitress, Kreizon, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made me feel welcome throughout my visit. Great service can make a good meal even better, and she definitely elevated the entire experience. The outdoor dining area is also beautiful and creates a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a meal and taking in the surroundings. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers exceptional food, incredible ambiance, unique architecture, and top-notch customer service, Domingo is a must-visit. The restaurant is on the river walk, and right under a hotel, so it's very accessible. The restaurant itself leans more towards a modern experience. Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. The Food was delicious. The corn bread, street corn and fish tacos were very enjoyable. The main issue which is concerning - the tables, chairs and cushion were covered with bird dropping. Pigeons and birds are constantly flying in and sitting on tables and chairs outside. I visited this restaurant three years ago and nothing has changed for the exterior seating and tables. I have dined at other restaurants along the river with outside seating and this issue was not present. To enjoy this restaurant sit inside. read more

This is one of my favorite spots on the Riverwalk! I've been here for both brunch and dinner and the meals have been quite fantastic both times. First off, this place gets really busy and I had a reservation both times. So I really do think you need to have one because this place is always busy. For brunch. I got an incredible agua fresca. It was like coconut and lime flavored. Extremely refreshing. I also got the chicken crispy chicken for brunch and it was absolutely incredible. It had all the nice flavors and textures that I usually look for in a dish and the portion size was perfect about. For dinner I got the fish tacos which are also very good. The portion size with fish tacos weren't as big but it was filling. Either way maybe get some appetizers to supplement Overall highly recommend sitting outside to get the nice atmosphere right off the river walk. Really high ceilings, modern upscale vibe. Just because a place is expensive does not mean it's good. All the people that come here do not know real ethic soul food that's bang for your buck. A taco truck is better than this place. Don't get the Baja fish tacos!! The fish is fried but the breading is soggy and doesn't complement the flavor of the fish. If it came with more sauce it might have helped everything go together but it barely had any condiments or flourishes. Overall the Baja taco don't have an amazing taste. They are actually below average. The guacamole is good but it's really really small. Honestly you couldn't even share it with a table group larger than 3-4. It runs out quickly and the bowl it's served in makes its look bigger than it really is. The halibut is alright. All it is a medium to small piece of fish on top of watery soup that tastes suspiciously like it was seasoned with a crawfish packet. I'm serious. If I was really hungry I would not be satisfied at all with it. Would rather have a burger from McDonalds. The only thing that was pretty good was the braised pork short rib thing. My mom said it was too salty and she didn't like that they paired it with blended beans, but it was indeed very tender. Also our waiter did not check up on us like at all. Malik was our server several times, and he truly went above and beyond. Located on the Riverwalk, Domingo offers inside and outside seating. They have tents with clear sides up for winter time outdoor seating. Had a customer dinner planned and they tried to seat us inside, but it was very loud, we asked for something outside and they were able to accommodate us after a short wait. Service was good. Food was fantastic. We tried several apps, the guac and elote dip were really good. I had the flat iron steak, it came with a cheese stuffed pepper that was amazing, and roasted crispy potato wedges. The steak was, tender, flavorful and topped with chimichurri sauce. The rest of the group tried enchiladas, tacos and a ribeye, everyone liked their meal. The cochinita pibil was okay in flavor however was a really small serving size, served with three corn tortillas. Maybe with another side it would have been okay but disappointed as is. I was recommended this place by multiple people and my uber driver, so I had to try it. Make a reservation otherwise you'll be waiting a while. I sat at the bar since the wait was over an hour during Sunday lunch. I ordered the Chips & Guac and Poblano Burger. The guac was super fresh and you get chunks of actual guac. We came here for a last minute reservation and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is outside seating as well as indoor seating and the atmosphere is very nice. The bathrooms are also very private and clean. We ordered the hatch queso, guacamole, and cornbread to start. The queso dip was by far the best thing we had and the other appetizers were good as well. We ordered the flat iron steak and the Baja fish tacos which were alright. Is this restaurant and its staff racist? We arrived around 4:50pm before they switched to dinner. We told the staff we would sit for dinner at 5pm. The wait staff seated 5 groups before us. Odd. Then on top of that, when she did sit us she tried to put us in the sun. We asked to be put inside or at a table with shade and she acted like she did not want to accommodate. Not only did I love the wide, open architecture-layout, I loved the view...and the cool overhead music. We loved the vibe so much, we just wanted to hang out there forever! The foods and the drinks were also excellent! We really liked the Beef Taquitos and the Churro but their Baja Fish Tacos were the best! We had a reservation for brunch. Unfortunately, parking isn't free. You can either park and pay at the hotel where it's located or look around for a nearby paid garage or lot. The churro waffle had the most luscious whipped cream to pair with the crisp outside of the waffle. The inside was warm and soft... you had to take proper bites to experience all the elements! We were walking the Riverwalk and decided to venture outside of the main loop to find a quieter place to eat, and Domingo's did not disappoint. We came for a Sunday brunch and were seated immediately. ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant felt modern and classy, with ample outdoor and indoor seating. The inside is dimly lit with multiple secluded areas for semi-private dining. The inside was comfortably quiet. I can't speak to the parking situation, though official parking elsewhere along the Riverwalk is quite expensive. FOOD: I got the Chicken Fried Chicken, and my friend got the Egg White Omelet. Both tasted great. The chicken was freshly fried, crispy, and flavorful with plenty of gravy and potatoes to eat it with. I liked that the chicken and gravy were savory without being overly salty. My friend was raving about her omelet and greens. SERVICE: Our waiter was great. We requested to sit inside at a booth/table hybrid and they had no problems accommodating our request. Food came out quickly and our waiter checked in with us a few times. PRICE/VALUE: Actually quite reasonable-to-good prices for brunch on the Riverwalk. Our entrees were $17 and $16, respectively. I thought the portions were a bit small, but still good for a solid meal without leaving you feeling overly full. The lunch and dinner entrees looked much pricier but I can't comment on the portions/value for those. The corn tortillas were just not great and the cheese they used was odd. For entrees, I ordered the Baja fish tacos. The fish was super small and heavily breaded, like chicken tenders. I was expecting light beer battered, but not the case. The toppings were refreshing though. My husband ordered the poblano burger and said it was good. We made a dinner reservation for my best friend's medical school graduation. The reservation was made a month prior and CONFIRMED for it to be inside seating. When we showed up, they proceeded to direct us outside so when we stated that the reservation was made for indoor, all the host said was "we're fully booked". I understand that you're fully booked considering WE should be one of those bookings. No other apology or accommodation was made. Second time at Domingo, which is located on the lower level of the Canopy hotel. This time, it was for dine-in, and I suppose when we came, it was less busy than the previous time I had come to order takeout. We had a brief wait. They have both inside and riverwalk patio area seating, but the two areas blend pretty well, since the entire restaurant is exposed to the outdoors. For the outdoor tables, they use these little touch lamps for lighting. If your table doesn't have one, there might be one on a neighboring table you can use so. Touch the base of the light to adjust the brightness. The table that we sat at was slightly unstable---you know, the wobbly kind with an unbalanced foot. It wasn't too wobbly though, and we were able to keep it in its stable position. Although the riverwalk patio seating is located next to the river, the river and the path along the river aren't particular visible from the restaurant. We opted to nab Clean Wave and No Esta Borracho N/A refreshments. Both were pleasant. We weren't super hungry for dinner, so we just opted for the Halibut Ceviche (Radish, Lime, Cilantro, Tomato, Serrano) which went well with the chips. It was clean tasting, with each component adding the appropriate amount of zing. We also nabbed a Braised Short Rib (Bean Purée, Onion, Spinach, Bacon, Green Tomatillo, Habenero Ashes) which was moist, tender, and not dry or chewy. Everything here melded together really well. As an additional point, since this restaurant is associated with the hotel, you can choose to either charge the meal to your room or pay separately---whatever floats your boat. read more

On our last night in San Antonio, we just wanted some drinks because we were still full from BBQ in Lockhart about seven hours previously. This bar/restaurant is right on the Riverwalk and close to our hotel, so it was an easy and convenient choice. We sat outside in the gorgeous patio and ordered drinks. I had a Mexican martini and it was very good at a reasonable price ($17). The kid had some kind of honey melon drink that she loved, in part because we told her it was a margarita for kids but with no alcohol ($8). So she felt grown up and included. The wife had some wine. Next up, I got adventurous and tried a cocktail called the Oaxaca something with mezcal and reposado. I expected a margarita-type experience but this was like pure alcohol with bitters. Wow, it was strong. Too strong for me. I had to get another Mexican martini so I could mix the two and make it drinkable. That worked just fine. We tried the Elote corn with no mayo and it was really good. I wish we had gone here the night before instead of the total rip-off at the Italian place that I previously reviewed. Domingo's menu looked really attractive and made me want to try some dishes but at that point my stomach simply could take no more food. Our server Jemelyssa was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed her service a lot. The ambience is upscale and modern. I liked the vibe a lot. People were not obnoxious and loud. The fish looked a bit pink but really couldn't tell since it's so dark in there. Service was okay and though we ordered regular margaritas we were charged for some special drinks on the menu at $17 each, think about that three drinks cost upwards of $50 crazy. A couple years ago I had a fantastic Sunday brunch at Domingo. Sat outside, pretty restaurant, great views - felt like Europe right in SATX. Fast forward, with a couple of Mexicans trying to cope with the disappointment of Shakira canceling her concert, so we head to Domingo with a reservation. First, they wouldn't seat us outside and made us sit in this interior room. Which, like...(I guess this is aimed at the engineers, or maybe the mgmt who didn't want to crank AC and fans), it's Texas..it's San Antonio...it's going to be hot..this room was so uncomfortable (and it wasn't even that hot outside, maybe 86). Our table was by a thermostat so I turned it all the way down but that didn't really work. The room was like a depressing dungeon. The service was super slow. The food was just ehhhh..like it was fine...I just had a yogurt where you can see they really went all out on the berries.. And..they were like...if you want to sit outside you'd have to wait another hour...but it was like 30% full outside (and remained that way). While the initial meal started out ok, seated promptly & net by waitress with water right away. The food (main entree and appetizer) were cold. Both queso and chicken enchiladas were Luke warm upon arrival, making them go completely cold throughout eating. Waitress while nice, isn't quite suited for the job, would be better suited at a pub or bar atmosphere. Bar beverages arrived very late, spent the majority of our time waiting for food and drinks. Then when asked about food allergy issues the waitress was not knowledgeable at all. We had a minor panic when our tacos were served with what appeared to be an oil based cream sauce - when after further inspection it was actually yogurt based. It made for a frightening experience. Disappointed is the only word I can use to describe our experience. The cloth napkin also ruined my outfit by shedding lint all over me. Will not return. Ps cocktails are small and expensive, but poured heavy handed, so I did feel a slight buzz from just one expensive indulgence. read more
