Great street tacos. This location only does tacos. There is another location that does more. Parking can be a little confusion but they do have an area next to it. Service was fast. You do have the option to get your food to go. You will be asked if you are getting your food to go and if not they will offer you a drink and bring it to a clean table for you.
Al pastor is the way to go!!! Amazing tacos, my husband went to get these for us and extremely friendly service, typical Mexican food vibes, and best of all... delicious tacos!!!! Our favorite was the Al pastor. Being from LA I'm picky about tacos and these are the way to go!!!
My "go to" Mexican street taco stop! Amazing and delicious. Hot and fresh. And always friendly. Love the variety of meats, and the way the tacos are served with the cucumbers and onions. A place to add to your list of must eat and repeat. My only criticism is that sometimes the music is just sooo loud.
I had the pleasure of getting here for Taco Tuesday and for a Thursday when I wanted more. In terms of tacos, this is as authentic as Mexican street food gets. As a fellow citizen of H-town, we have a vibrant taco scene and I would put this place up there with some of my favorite spots I frequented in HOU. Each time I've been here, I've ordered between 8-9 tacos as they are each $2.50. I've gotten a combination of pastor, barbacoa, lengua, bistec, and cabeza. I can't really select a favorite cause they're all so delicious with the meats tender and juicy with a heaping sprinkle of onions and cilantro. Make sure you squeeze the lime on it and mix it with the radish/cucumber garnish they'll throw in there. And don't forget to throw on that green/red salsa they provide. Either eat there or get it to go (which is what I did). Fortunately the tacos travel well as they were still hot when I posted up at my hotel to grub. Don't be discouraged of the long line if you see one as it moves quick. You walk up and place your order, then pay afterwards. It's somewhat of an honor system but there is security present when I went there so that eased my concerns. For drinks, it's either soft drinks, water, or mineral water. No alcohol is served here so if you want margaritas/micheladas/beer, you'll have to go elsewhere for that. No doubt I'm returning next time I'm in SA. Viva Taquitos West SIDE!

Legit bomb street tacos! This place has got it pat down and shine in what they're known for. Basically, the menu is on the window ordering counter- several proteins to choose from - one side listed in Spanish, the other English. The servers can help place your orders, obtain your drinks, seat you, and get anything you need. All orders come as a plate of 6 street tacos of your choice. I ordered 2 bistek, 2 al pastor, and 2 tongue with all the fixings (onions, cilantro, sliced radishes, and grilled onions). Delicious!!!' The al pastor had the most flavor and was on a trompo. I poured some green salsa on top for a kick. And to go with my tacos, I drank a Mexican pineapple soda. Pay at the register when you're done! It's all on an honor system. From what I understand, this place can get packed in the evenings and weekend, we ate around 2pm on a weekday and it was perfect! I would totally return when in the area.
My allll time favorite taco place in San Antonio. The flavor of the tacos are amazing and I love the sauces that they have. I would say the tacos are pretty affordable and they give you a lot of meat. My favorite taco to get from them is their Al Pastor tacos which is only served on Friday and the weekends. The service is fast and very attentive. If you need something to drink after you sit down with your tacos they will approach you asking if you would like anything to drink. It gets pretty busy at night since they are open late but people are always coming in and out. You must try this place if you are visiting San Antonio!!!!

West Ave Tacos is such a cool spot. The garage building has a great vibe and it feels really authentic. The tacos are tasty and I love their salsas, they really take it up a notch. It seems like they recently upped their prices which is a bit of a bummer and the system of being in line twice, once to order and then again to pay, is kind of inconvenient. Even so, the food and atmosphere make it worth it and I'll still go back for the tacos and salsas.
This place was very very busy, so I got take out. I liked how the space was decorated. The service was very fast. We ordered and got our food in less than 5 minutes. It was hot and fresh. The tacos were good. I liked how they came 5 in an order, which was more than I expected. I could only finish 4 tacos. They needed a little more seasoning on the meat, but the salsa helped enhanced the flavor
My goodness these tacos were very traditional and reminded of us our tacos in San Filipe! They are that good! They only do tacos and they do them exceptionally well! Don't let the line deter you, it moves fast! You order your tacos, 5 to a plate and staff brings you a drink and you pay when you leave. Very casual relaxed spot. Tacos the best we've found!
I don't think I've ever seen a restaurant run like a well oil machine in the way this one does. They have the dino experience, down to a science. The line may look intimidating, however, it moves extremely quickly, and you'll be eating in no time. From standing in the line to sitting with maybe about 15 to 20 minutes total and I definitely think the hot air outside exaggerated the time. Yet, once we were inside the cool air, and the amazing smell made the wait desirable. Ordering a simple, you go up and you just say what meat you want and the number of tacos. I got three including brisket, steak, and al pastor. Those come with radishes, cucumbers, lime, and lots of cilantro and onion, of course. As you're standing in line, server will come by to ask if you want any drinks and prep a table for you we got a lemonade, a large one to share. Which was five dollars, and a refill will come at the cost of $1.08. There's a lot of meat in these tacos, while I got three, I only made my way through two sadly because I wanted to finish them all. The salsa you'll get at your table are two different types of green and a red one. The red one is hotter, but the green still has hints of heat. Both are delicious, but I could only manage to slather the green one on my food. At the end of your meal, you'll go up and pay at the counter by telling them how many tacos you had and that's it. There's tons of parking available, while the lights on the side may look busy they actually own the building next-door and all the parking in the back is available to utilize. If you're in San Antonio for any reason, I definitely recommend to stop here. This was the highlight of my trip. Despite the fact, I don't know if I'll return to the city. read more

This review is extremely overdue! Now as someone who travels to Mexico several times a year, I don't hand out compliments like this lightly - the tacos here are absolutely on par with some of the best taquerías I've had in CDMX and throughout Mexico. The flavors are incredibly authentic. You can tell they focus on doing a few things exceptionally well, instead of trying to be everything to everyone. Beyond the food, the service is outstanding. Even when there's a line, it's fast, efficient, professional, and incredibly well organized. The staff keeps everything moving without ever making you feel rushed. If you're looking for outstanding tacos that could hold their own anywhere in Mexico, Taquitos West Ave absolutely delivers. Dare I say it? These may be the best tacos in San Antonio. read more

The restaurant itself is super clean! You walk in and order and get handed your food right away...no waiting. The taquitos were so good. I'd rate them the second best I've had in SA. Highly recommend-plate full of taquitos and the salsa is great! read more

As a native Californian nothings screams tacos like authentic Mexican tacos! And boy does Taquitos West Ave have the best tacos in San Antonio! With an array of meats: Al Pastor, asada, suadero, chorizo, tripas and more. You can't go wrong! I have been here so many times I always forget to take out tired because their tacos are just that good! There's always a line, even if it's long it goes by really fast! The service is impeccable and the food is even better! The salsas range from medium to spicy but they're all delicious. They don't serve alcohol which honestly it's appreciated as it's a family restaurant. They always have music playing but it's not super loud. Will be back very soon! read more

We found Taquitos West Avenue on a best-of-San Antonio Reddit post, and it lived up to, maybe even exceeded, the hype! Rolled in around 3pm on a Thursday and didn't wait long. You order first, get seats, then pay on your way out (option to order more from the table). We started with 3 suadero (brisket), 3 al pastor, 1 cabeza and 1 tripas. The al pastor and tripas were our favorites, and we ordered 2 more each after. We've had street tacos in LA and San Diego, but the flavor and meat to tortilla ratio on Taquitos' tacos was rhe best. 12 tacos and a soda between two people came out to 30.26$. The staff were so friendly and helpful. There's some parking around the building; people are in and out pretty fast. Wish we had an extra day in SA just to have another meal here! read more
Tacos are good, I would stick with the tripas, cabeza, and chorizo tacos. Bistec was my least favorite surprisingly. All in all it's easy to spend more then you thought but I like the payment structure and how quick the service is. It's chill and alive at night. Great place to go to after a few drinks. read more

I'm from Dallas recently went to San Antonio to visit SeaWorld while I was there. I tried a few new food places. One happen to be this place we could tell it was gonna be good by all the cars outside.but don't the packed parking lot intimidate you the line was super fast. The cooks are very good at what they do. It was me and five other people in my party. They got us in and out within a few minutes with a line all the way out the door the food was 10 out of 10 tacos so good. I ate my whole plate and bought some just to take home. This is your first time there just know that you pay after you eat. It's a little different than what I'm used to in Dallas, but it was definitely worse the drive. read more

This place is delicious! Doesn't matter if you're there during the morning or late after the bars, they always have amazing food and the service is quick! Of course, it can get a little rowdy and crowded, specially after the late night club/ bar scene comes out, but they are quick with the lines. The food always tastes good, the servers are quick and keep things clean. Side advise: If you go Thrusday-Sunday be sure to try the Al Pastor meat from the Trompo (the rotating meat). read more

Tacos were great! The restaurant is quick you get your tacos you pick a seat your order drinks and you pay on the way out. Clean bathrooms and the restaurant itself is clean with its steel tables and chairs. They have a wide variety of tacos and two types of salsa. They also have desserts like flan and a paletero cart on your way out. read more

Yes. They have pork Thursday through Sunday when they serve al pastor. They also have tripa but I've never seen pork carnitas.

I've never seen dogs there. I think the seating is probably too small and too tight for dogs.
