Last Sunday had the worst dining experience ever this is saying a lot because Ive traveled all over the world. To start with the girls at the front are horrible at their job we had a party if eight four were children.and waited 2 hours after they said only an hour parties of seven (3) of them sat at their table after only 45 min I tried to talk to manager Nate who was very rude and is in need of a career change. The service was absolutely terrible! My wife and I had been there twice and we have been disappointed on each occasion. On our first visit we were sat and waited for somebody to take our order about 10 minutes. Finally somebody took our order. Next we wait for our food for about 30 min. Growing frustrated we ask the waitress how much longer? She goes back and gets our cold food. It must have been sitting there for 10 min at the least. Food was so bad! Not fresh at all. Next visit my wife wanted to give it another shot because she heard such good things about it. I was thinking maybe it was just the service that time. When we get to cheddars we are seated right away. The young lady sits us and explains our waiter/waitress will be with us shortly. Well no joke, 20 min later my Wife and I get up and leave because no waiter/waitress tried to help. We tried to call a waitress and get her attention but they would not even make eye contact while they passed us. On our way out my wife asked to speak to the manager and she complained and he offered a coupon??? I don't want anything except customer service. Last night we met up some friends and had a late dinner, what I ended up ordering was the lunch special with two pairings; I felt like having a little bit of everything so this gave me that option. It's also a great value! First disappointment, I was in the mood for a baked potato (which they didn't have!). The waitress was kind enough to suggest the baked potato soup, which was close enough that I ordered it. I also got a Caesar salad, and a half Monte cristo sandwich. The salad was good, the baked potato soup was surprisingly the best thing about the meal and I was happy the waitress suggested it. The sandwich was the only disappointment from the actual food because the outer fried crust was overcooked and very dark but didn't impact the flavor too much. For starters, the wait time on a Saturday night was surprisingly reasonable despite a full parking lot. In addition our waitress was average. She did her job and that was about it. The food was average as well, but portion size was well over average. I only had three complaints: 1. I originally ordered the ribs but they we're out. It was only 7:00 and perhaps when they started to run out they should have gotten more? 2. It was extremely loud. Partially because of a plethora of children surrounding the entire restaurant but also because there were so many large groups. 3. They didn't seem to notice or care that multiple people from off the street just walked in to use the restroom and then leave. I didn't feel very safe using the restroom because of that. read more

After placing our orders we received our chips and salsa all crushed as if someone was mad and crushed them. The waitress had a nasty look on her face bringing our appetizer. Been in San Antonio a few weeks; a co-worker and I finally decided to visit Cheddar's. We both has been to one in a different city and had a good experience. Don't know why we waited until it is almost time to depart to have lunch there. Customer service was great. The food was excellent. I have only been twice to this restaurant and each time the table I was sat at had not been clean. The waitress never refilled my drink and I would have to ask 2 or 3 times, she would say "no problem" and walked away for 15 mins to never be seen again. The customer service is just bad but they good is acceptable. However as well both times I've gone they've messed up my order and the first time forgot my sides (how do you forget the sides wtf...) and the second gave me completely wrong ones. If the customer service/ staff was different I would have no problem giving 5 stars, unfortunately there is a lot for this restaurant to work on... read more

If you get the server "Jason" you should ask for some one else. He's more interested in entertaining then actually serving. Food serving more like child serving and is not worth the price. Haven't been here for awhile, but finally went about a week ago. The place was nice, our waitress was extremely nice. They did have a mix up on our order. But did apologize and bring the correct items out and let us keep the other items and didn't charge us. I really have nothing bad to say about our experience. What was a mix up, they fixed. The only thing I would suggest, is those ceiling fans that spin, are a bit dusty. I'd be nervous dust is going to fall in my food. Because they were a bit dusty. We come here every two weeks-ish. And we always have really good service and the food is always pretty good. I always get the choose 4 veggie plate. The salad is delicious, comes with a delicious buttered croissant with like honey? It's yummy. The broccoli casserole is soo good also. I took off one star because there aren't many veggie options like other places. But like I said. I've never had a bad experience. The restaurant was busy but we were seated quickly. We were a group of 5 for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was VERY noisy, it was difficult for us to talk across the table. The place could definitely use some type of noise absorber. And, the floor was dirty. A young man did come by with a broom. It should have been a covered sweeper. I kept imagining dirt flying in the air. Everything took time - wait for water, wait for drink, WAIT for bread, and 20 minute wait for food. I ordered the Grilled Fish with Crab Sauce, substitute Mashed for Rice. When the plate arrived the fish was SHOE LEATHER. It was dry and hard. The kitchen put cream gravy on the potatoes. I shared my complaints with the waitress. She asked did I want them to start another serving. Heck no! it took 20 minutes for this. The manager stopped by to drop off another serving of potatoes, "Somebody wanted potatoes, no gravy." I stopped him to show him my dead, dry fish. He agreed to remove it from the bill. My recommendation: Cheddar's is NOT for fish. Stick with the burgers here. read more

I walked into Cheddars and was immediately taken in by the ambience! Great looking place!! Waited only about 15 mins for a table on a Tuesday night, must be a popular place!! The menu offers great selections in a variety of foods from fried chicken to a jambalaya pasta to steak. We ordered the Cajun pasta and the chicken fried steak. Don't forget to get some of those croissants!! They were amazing!!! Both were delicious but we're lacking in the temperature. I really prefer my food "hot" when it comes to the table. Then the service. Much to be desired. Slow and just EH. I wasn't impressed with the service at all. I may be back because the food (and croissants) was good but hopefully the service will be better on the next visit!!! read more

This place is our go to place for good food at great prices. For the exception of today , I don't regularly complain of the food but the bake or loaded potato as they call it had a funny taste so I had it replace by smash potato same bad taste, the waitress had an assist manager come to our table to disagree that he had tasted the potato and to him was fine I explained that I had my wife and daughter taste it before I told the server of the issue. He then had the waitress give us a card for free chips and salsa. We were full try to cancel a desert that had not been brought to our table the waitress started it had already been placed and could have it to go. Not only was the desert not complete . I was so disappointed that after such a bad service i just wanted to pay my $83 dollar tab and leave the waitress had the audacity to ask if I wanted change from the $100 dollar bill I gave her for the tab. At one point I even asked to fill out a comment card which I feel was thrown out because I was never contacted. On that occasion, my salmon was raw when served to me. I was really calm because I know it's never the server's fault but she had a pretty bad attitude when I asked if she could take it back. She came back with a new plate and the fish was raw once again. I asked her if I could just order something else and she rolled her eyes. I didn't think that was very cool especially considering I was being really chill about the whole ordeal. I worked in guest relations for years so I know the pains of dealing with irate guests, so I made sure I was polite and chill yet I received attitude in return. I requested to speak to the manager and he literally said "well are you trying to get this off your ticket or what?" I thought that wasn't cool. I responded saying "no, I just thought from one customer service manager to another I would make you aware of the situation. Paying for my food is not an issue." He then resolved it by saying an apathetic sorry and that was that. It was totally not cool and that was the last time I gave them a chance. I recently came here for my team Christmas party. When I got to Cheddars there was hardly anybody coming in. As we waited for the rest of the party to come in, we were seated quickly at a pretty large table. We were greeted by a new waitress while I didn't get her name but I assumed she was new based on what I read on her tag. She was very nice and considerate with our group. When she took our order she seemed to get it all right. My favorite item off the menu is their 6 oz sirloin with two entrées. I ordered the loaded baked potato and green beans. When the food came out she was very good at handling the food to my team members. The steak tasted juicy and delicious. Not one negative experience here! I love Cheddars. We didn't eat at this location because the restaurant had a strong sewer smell inside. I don't know if someone mopped with dirty water but, the odor was so foul when we sat at the table it seemed to get worse. We left because my kids and I couldn't bare the smell. read more

Cheddars was a favorite place when I lived in Virginia. Now that I live in San Antonio, I was surprised to see one here. Fish tacos are new on the menu and were pretty good. You have to request grilled if thats how you like your fish (it is normally breaded). Good sized portion of fish in each taco despite the decent price of $6. Added a beer and total was about $11. The place was packed on a Wednesday night. Parking was full, yet we waited only about 5 minutes for a table as the dining area is large. The salads have always been a favorite of mine here. Definitely not the place to come and dine on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday or at least not this location; besides other restaurants up the access road, (with the exception of Carinos) Cheddars management is too having some serious problems making sure the crew is working collectively and communicating effectively-from the cooks back in the kitchen to the waiting staff and especially with customers. I was extremely discouraged today when I took my friends and family traveling from out of town to Cheddars and after our dinner (which we already had spend 2 hours waiting to be seated) we all had to wait literally 50 minutes for 3 monster cookies and a single scoop of ice cream when we ordered dessert SMH. Definitely not a good experience especially as a frequent customer who wanted to show off how great the staff is and not to mention the food :/ read more

Decided to visit this place as it was closest to my rental. I ordered the painkiller, spinach dip and redfish was crab sauce. The drinks were very good to the point I order the unfortunate limit of two. I probably should've ordered it without the alcohol it was that good. The spinach dip wasn't bad even it didn't come out hot and just warm and halfway through it was cold. But still decent. The redfish was very subpar. The fish was overcooked and the crab sauce didn't taste of crab and wasn't even enough sauce plus the rice was hard. The sides were broccoli casserole which wasn't bad but the mac and cheese was awful. But while eating there were servers who I guess were on lunch break sitting at the bar. Not only were they loud but they were using profanity. While I get some of them young, they really shouldn't be having lunch where customers are eating and if they decided to do so at a table not so close to the customers. I was tempted to point it out to the manager but was leaving soon. I would return to cheddar maybe just not this one and just for their drinks! read more

Hadn't been to cheddars in a while and now I know why. Didn't haven't to wait long for a table but after we were seated. Had to wait longer for a waitstaff member than actually a table. I ordered chicken strips and fried fish. Got my food and my shrimp was RAW. I bit into it and it was cold and the batter was raw. After taking apart all 4 shrimp they were all raw. Sent it back!!! I said NO shrimp only strips please. Was really not in the mood for shrimp after that experience. Sorry No more Cheddars for us. read more

If you can withstand the wait-time and incompetent staff then you might actually have a good experience at Cheddars. With our waiter being dreadfully slow, it made it more than hard to order anything complex, which resulted in me ordering the roadhouse burger (which was delicious, by the way). I thuroughly enjoyed the honey and butter rolls and the Texas margarita was perfect. As stated earlier, if it wasnt for the staff (if you ever get Dante, run-away!) then Cheddars would have definately got a 5-star rating. read more
