We were really glad to find a long John Silvers while visiting San Antonio. We figured it was a busy location due to how many cars are parked in the parking lot when we arrived. But it's Friday night in the South, fish is the way to go. We ordered one of the new mixed platters and added on a piece of classic fish to round out our choices. The food came plentiful and flavorful, but a big greasy. We had so much food we ended up taking some back to the Room and having it for breakfast the next day. My family also enjoyed their selections food. Try out the whitefish it's a little lighter and flakier than the original. The shrimp were also tasty but covered in a lot of breading. Note: if you want cocktail sauce, you have to request it at the counter. This location is situated in the parking lot of a strip mall, which was pretty easy to find but a little dangerous to drive in-and-out of due to the location of the entrance. We witness someone in line to order from the drive thru get bumped by someone backing out of a parking space. There set up could be a little bit better to control traffic and safety. read more

The food wasn't fresh. The picture of the 3.59$ bowl of clams was full with crispy dark golden clams. What I got was a scant amount of clams not cooked enough to enjoy the crust. Rip off. My fish was dried out. No fries or drink came with my over $10 combo. Just 2 fish hush puppies and 1 side. I chose the tasteless coleslaw instead of fries. Bought a small drink for 2.50 $. Because the combo doesn't come with a drink. Servers need to b replaced with ai Ill will NEVER return Did not like the renovation which reminded me of the other fast food joints. This is the second time I've had a bad experience at this location and the workers were just horrible and rude, the first time I had an issue I had to wait over an hour for my online order, it was wrong of course and the staff was extremely rude and dismissive and even ignoring me, but today was the worse customer experience I've ever had. I was trying to pay for my order using a split pay however they messed up somehow and ended taking all my money out of my card when I asked for the money back they were very very rude and said it was gonna take 5-7 business days, leaving absolutely screwed, I then tried to speak to a manager but apparently they weren't there so I ended speaking to a team lead a young girl and she was not help and kept ignoring me and threatened to call the cops so I had to take the loss and leave, I've been to this location over 10 times never a great experience but today was just extremely upsetting and embarrassing This staff can't seem to get themselves together! read more

Fantastic! I had not been to this location in well over 10 years lol BUT I had a random craving and boy I was not disappointed. I went around the 5pm hour and it was not too packed (it being lent so it's usually busy) thankfully. The cashier at the drive thru was so nice and gave me as much time as I needed to glance over the menu, which was good. All prices are cheap for the amount of food you can get for the singular meals. Now the outside wasn't too bad, it was the typical area I remember, just updated colors and logos/signs. Now once getting my food, it was extremely fresh, everything was so good and just as good as I remembered. I heard a staff member say she would have to go to Sam's to get some until the location can get more. Cheese bites are decent. Lightly seasoned. Chewy. Decent cheesy taste. Pairs with ketchypretty good. Their green beans are always spot on, seasoned well and temperature hot. Fries lack crunch and seasoning. Had to add pepper and salt to the ketchup to liven them up. I've always been a fan of their fish, yes it's greasy. I do like the taste & light crunch of the fish. Pair with their lemony tartar sauce & it's a good time. The crispy chicken is decent as well, juicy flavorful inside as well as the crunchy exterior which has a nice seasoned flavor as well. The floors could definitely do with a good sweep and mop. I haven't been here in a long while and I'm glad I did because it brought back some good memories of my family sitting around eating together and watching some good shows and talking. Ms. Loretta is the nicest person we have encountered in a food establishment in a while... sad but true. We came from Alamo Ranch area and the drive was worth it to try this old staple. Not many left. Last of its breed, in other words. The food was just how we remembered it and super hot and fresh. You know dang well I had to get my free side of crumbs. Everything was clean! While we were sitting there we could hear Ms. Loretta interacting with her team and she was so sweet and friendly to everyone. It was so nice to hear and witness with it even being so busy. I hardly ever come here, but I really like the chicken. One of the best things about ordering chicken or fish is the crumbs. So golden and crunchy. They're the little bits that fall off the battered chicken. What annoys me is if you ask for extra crumbs, the order taker always says they come in the box with your order. What's the big deal? Why can't she just put extra in the box? Or charge an extra $0.50? One of the reasons I don't like to come to this location. read more

I havent been in a long while. But decided to visit a old favorite. My hubby and I ordered both a salmon and grilled shrimp and 2 sides plate. I love the hushpuppies. The lady said they both come with hushpuppies. Great I said but didnt get hushpuppies. I went to tell her she asked nope the donr sorry. Really you could have given me the hushpuppies.? The restaurant needed to be updated or at a minimum painted in some places as shown in photo. So the drive thru wasn't busy but the drive thru employee had a little bit of a attitude. She told me to move up instead of asking me to move up so I was totally thrown off. I was just like ok maybe shes having a bad day but the plain face wasn't a great face representing the company. Throw on the smile and fake it to represent your work well! Anyways, the food was delicious! Everything was fresh and hot! I have visited this location many times and it usually is a hit or miss with the customer service. So many of my childhood memories have lost their appeal due to repackaging, rebranding and corporate updates. I went to 4350 W. Commerce location [#70265], and the fish and chicken was horrible. They smelled very bad, like dead fish. they were hard, dried out. I did not eat bc I did not want to get sick. I had stopped at LJS on my way home after a long day; I did not have the energy to go out again. I did respond to the survey link on the receipt and was surprised that someone responded by email the next day. He seemed nice and willing to help. He asked how he could make it right. I asked for a refund as I am unwilling to try the food again. If the employees don't know the difference between fresh food and something that needed to throw away, I am unwilling to waste my time again. Of course, he said I could get a refund, but then I never heard from him again. I'm not surprised. I'll never go back to any LJS. And I warn others to do the same. Service is no good, ordered a family meal and did not get what I ordered. I called and was told they'd replace my order, life happened and was not able to return next day, i returned a few days later, I had given my name and then they asked me if brought back the order that was wrong...... like I'm really gonna keep days old fish?!?! Should have taken a picture because it looked so good and steaming, but it tasted too good to wait! The nicest ladies were working today at lunchtime. The food was hot and fresh. I didn't see the combo I wanted on the menu, so the knowledgeable and friendly cashier helped me make a custom plate with the flakey, white fish and two golden chicken planks; coleslaw, fries, and hush puppies! Stopped here for a quick dinner with my 2 kiddos , The place was packed and service was still amazing ! The cashier (Mel) was very friendly and courteous , once we sat down the food was right behind us . Not only was our order correct it was hot & fresh ! Half way threw out meal the cashier stopped by and asked if we needed any refills or anything else ! Now & days that's very rare ! I will defiantly be coming back ! I hadn't been to LJS in years! Decided to take my daughter there after passing it by and reminding me of old delicious memories! My daughter was a little skeptical at first and said "I don't want no square fish it's not real" lol. Well we went and she is now a believer too! The fish and shrimp was just how I remembered it! Oh and I can't forget to mention the awesome customer service! All smiles and one worker whom may have been the manager was all smiles and so friendly with all the guests. It was like she personally knew each and everyone of them. As we were leaving she was even seen walking an older gentleman to his car! Will definitely go back and bring the rest of the family! Yea I would never eat here again the bathrooms were horrible the doors never lock and the service was just terrible. Took too long and the employees look at you with a disgusted look in their eye I mean by God is this is what you call a good restaurant then someone needs to get you a good pair of glasses.
