They seemed to be having some technical difficulties ( there was a huge storm days prior) but they made accommodations and provided amazing customer service and yummy food. We tried their boneless haul and picked the spicy version ( 20 boneless wings and fries for $12) and were extremely satisfied with everything only thing is the fries weren't the freshest but my brother still loved them. Will definitely recommend the Cajun ranch as well as the new dill pickle one! read more

If your craving chicken, but dont want chicken fil a try out slims. The service was really quick. I ordered my food in. It came to my table in 10 minutes. The ambience is pretty chill inside. It has high ceilings and guitars on the wall. read more

It was empty when we got to the restaurant for dinner, but noticed a lot of people did take out or delivery. The chicken was delicious and very comparable to Raising Cains. They do serve garlic bread and had a great promotion - buy one meal, get one free. Staff were friendly and willing to help. read more

With a plethora of chicken joints in Helotes, Slim Chickens is easily to overlook, but it shouldn't be. My husband and I recently stopped in when we were looking for a quick bite of chicken without a big fried chicken meal. It wasn't very busy and the inside was cold so bring your jacket. The staff were friendly and accommodating but seemed a little slow. We ordered chicken strips and a chicken sandwich with gravy in the side. The food was good but not outstanding, but what you expect from a fast casual restaurant. The inside was clean. All in all we will eat there again. It wasn't our first time and it won't be our last. read more

Our family enjoys slim chickens. We came here for dinner during our trip. Bonus, on Sundays kid's meals are $2.99! The workers here were super friendly and helpful. Food came out fast and was fresh, hot and tasty. As for Ambiance, well... the chicken wasn't the only thing that was hot. The AC was out and it was unbearably hot inside the restaurant. We still ate in but numerous people went outside to eat. Well... it wasn't that much cooler outside. It had to be like 85+ in there. Aside from that, the restaurant looked fairly new, clean and modern. Plenty of seating. We'd love to return at some point... hoping they get their AC fixed by then. read more

The battle for best chicken sandwich continues with this new (to me) entrant. I had never even heard of this place until I saw an article in the paper about it. With that being read, I knew it was time to see what they offered. As it is near where my daughter lives, I picked her up and off we went. The location is easy to get in and traffic was not bad today. Tons of parking is available, and since we were eating in a non-peak hour, we parked right in front of the entrance. Walking in, this place remined me of Cane's or Zaxby's. It's the similar layout with ordering up front and then finding a seat. The young man behind the counter was very helpful and very efficient. They seem to offer chicken just about every way you could want it, but I had my mind made up. I wanted the Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich. The order also comes with a side and a drink. The order came quickly and was brought to our table. Everyone got something different but all looked good. My chicken sandwich tasted really good, had a light spice kick, and filled the bun. I enjoyed it but will probably try the Buffalo Ranch next time. So the battle for chicken sandwich supremacy continues. I rated this at 4 stars as the chicken was not as large as some of the competition. However, that will not keep me from coming back to try a different offering. read more

I had the chicken and waffles and it was GOOD!!!!! I had told myself that I would only eat half of the waffle but it was sooo good!! Service was ok. Nothing to brag about. I can't really speak on the ambiance because I went through the drive through. read more

I ordered a kids chicken strip meal with Mac n cheese on a late Friday night. The customer service was great and I had no issues. I'm not really a fan of their chicken or fries but it did come out fresh which is great at 11:30pm. The Mac was cheesy and flavorful per usual. I'd recommend. read more

Has a drive through and has fried mushrooms, chicken strips and waffles . They provide syrup. Breading has a slightly sweet flavor. Crispy crunchy and fresh. The service is a bit of a wait but food was hot and freshly made and the oil is good. The mushrooms were eaten before getting home. Start with the small ones as you may burn your mouth the dessert jar options were pecan or pumpkin cheesecake. Easily two servings for the dessert jars. They are about $7 you also get sweetness with the waffle as well. Only one car ahead in heavy traffic hour. read more

It never fails this location can never serve you fresh fries. You can wait in long in drive thru for 5-10 minutes and still end up with an order full of old food. Do no waste your time read more

First time there. We'll be my last time there. Ordered the chicken club sandwich. Waited in line for about 10 minutes. Figured it was being freshly cooked. It wasn't. Came in a beautiful box. Looked good from the outside. Once I bid into it, all I could taste is burnt chicken breading, followed by cold chicken And enough salt to kill a man. The bacon crunched like it was cooked three days ago. When I chewed It, it was like eating salt covered glass. Not a good experience. read more

I love chicken tenders, they're one of my favorite things so I was excited about trying this place and they did not disappoint. They're taking covid seriously with restrictions which was nice (if you wanna eat inside) and the staff was super friendly and helpful for our first time. They handmade everything fresh to order which was cool and unexpected. The tenders were peppery, crunchy, juicy and just overall an amazing and solid chicken tender. Probably some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had. Their wings were also a HUGE surprise, better than the ones I've had at Buffalo Wild Wings and other places. If this is the quality of the food every time, then hands down it's the best fast food place out there. I can't wait to go back and eat more! read more

I visited this place for the first time on Friday late afternoon around 3:15 and ordered the Chicks Meal which consist of 3 piece tenders, which were small, fries which I almost choked on because they were cold and I particularly asked for hot fries and she told me at the drive-through window they were fresh out the oil. Lied. I was hoping to munch on some hot fries on my drive home and they were absolutely cold as if they had sat under the lamp for several hours. I'm going to need employees to try sampling cold fries and experience how dry it is going down your throat. The best part of the meal was probably the toast! The chicken tenders could be seasoned better. In conclusion, I highly doubt I will order from this place again. I tried it out and it was an epic fail. read more

Best chicken tenders I've EVER had. They were so close to homemade and even better than mom's (sorry mom). Service on to go is slower because everything is made to order, but it's worth it. Everything packaged beautifully and they gave us all the utensils we needed, and napkins (I notice many fast food places forget to give us napkins in to go orders). Got texas toast with our tenders and they were "chef's kiss" read more

yesterday I ordered a Chicken Club Sandwich Meal. It says cooked to order which is a lie ! The chicken wasn't even hot , just warm to the touch. it also says it comes with cheese and bacon on a toasted bun. I didn't get any of that !! The bun was cold like it just came out of the refrigerator , there was a small thin piece of lettuce and if you didn't look you would not have known if there was tomato on it or not. where is the management when these young people are trying to prepare food ? This place sucks !! That's to bad because I'm sure they could make a good sandwich with the right training and staff !! read more

They do false advertising. My food came out to $13.00 when they announced a $6.99 deal on H-E-B RECEIPTS!!

tenders were great, but the buffalo and lemon had no flavor. our greatest concern was it was VERY COLD!!!!!! our food was cold in 3 minutes. could not eat comfortably. if you want to eat inside take a sweater, earmuffs and scarf. we complained but ...., won't be going back. read more

My fave fast food place! The food always comes out fast and hot, the service has never been rude, and the food is good!! The way they season their tenders are just out of this world and their fries are good too! I can eat the fries over an hour time period and they're still tasty unlike some other fast food places. Their Korean bbq sauce is YUMMY. read more

I stopped here on a whim. Both of us ordered the crispy chicken sandwich meal. My first time visit to Slim Chickens was spectacular. I mean where else can you get chicken strips and wings with fries all in the same basket?! We visited on a slow Sunday afternoon, my basket pictured ran about $9.99 includes two sauces 3 Wings and 3 chicken strips which take a bit since it's made fresh to order or so it says. The fries are seasoned perfectly and the hot buffalo had a spicy kick went well with my cyan Pepper ranch. Overall great food and atmosphere and did I mention they have janga and corn whole out in the patio! I will be returning for their awesome food and service! PS. don't forget the fresh lemonade! read more

So I will give Slim Chickens another shot. I have seen it before but never tried, and not too long ago saw it listed in a best regional restaurants list and decided I had to give it a try. So me and the kiddos stopped in to check it out, the kids went with fingers and Mac and cheese as a side, they were all about it, I went with and 8 piece of wings and fries with a mix of buffalo, and Korean BBQ, for dips with our various orders I decided to try some honey mustard, the daughter loves it with her fingers, some garlic Parmesan, and some blue cheese. The kids got their fingers with no sauce/coating, not fans of spice. As I said they liked theirs, and the Mac and cheese was good and creamy, with a nice cheese flavor. The flavor of the wings was good, buffalo had that classic buffalo tang, with a nice lite heat, the Korean also had some nice heat mixed with sweet for a gojuchang flavor that worked well, nice sweet and heat, the big let down was the wings themselves. The flats were nice and moist and easy to eat, but the drums seemed dry, and overcooked, and hard to eat, I had to tear through the wings to eat them, literally tear through them, the flavor was good but the texture needed work. So I will give them another try, perhaps it was a one off mistake, because I have heard good things, so hopefully it will be good, but for now it seems hit or miss. read more

Chicken strips keep getting smaller and smaller and have turned into chicken nuggets. What a ripoff.

Chicken Tenders were moist and delicious little less breading maybe hence the name slim. The ranch is superior. Mac and cheese wasn't the best. The fries were fresh tho! Service was superb. Bathrooms were clean read more

This was my favorite waffles and chicken place since they opened. A couple months ago I stopped in. Shock..no more punch cards but most important thing of all the waffles tasted like cornbread. Going in the door - first thing I'll say is LEND NO WEIGHT to the harsh reviews. Man, people are persnickety. Also - people want to compare to Slim Chicken's to Cane's and/or Zaxby's (in the South). I think this is a different animal. Tenders are breaded differently than both C's and Z's (which are very similar...even their sauces). These tenders are breaded differently (a lighter breading it seems), and have, in my opinion - more of a pepper flavor than the sometimes overly salty breading at C's and Z's. The fries are different, too. Been to this location twice. First, chicken and waffles. Second, three chicken strips and three wings. I thought both meals were good - nothing to send smoke signals over or alert the media about - but good. So why the four stars? When I walked in the first time - the General Manager went out of his way to greet me - hope he does this to everyone when he can. Service was very friendly and fast. The other thing I noticed during both my visits was the way the staff was busting tail. Staff constantly walking around, checking on people - making sure they have everything they need. Impressive. Hope it continues. Second - the incredible number of sauces available for dipping! Wow! Only disappointing - the Texas Toast I had with my meal was not very well toasted. It was pretty soggy. Overall, will go back. read more

I am obsessed with these place! I was a big fan of raising canes for awhile when we moved here, but when I found this place with all their yummy sauces and side choices I was converted. My hubby who eats low carb also loves being able to get their grilled tenders! We have been many times now and have never been disappointed. I love their Mac and cheese and fried okra. Be sure to try their sriracha garlic, mango habanero, and cayenne Ranch. I honestly hope to see more of them pop up around town! Please support this yummy place! A-Ok is the perfect description for Slim Chickens. It was ok definitely not something I would suggest or crave. We had to try it because many of my family members in KS had raved about it but I would choose Cane's over Slim Chickens any day. Fries were ok, chicken was ok, toast was ok. If sauces are your thing they definitely have a quite a variety of sauces but nothing as good as Cane's sauce. If you are hungry and it's a close by option do it but do not go out of your way to try it out. read more

From the name we weren't really crazy about trying this place. But one day i forced my wife to go and try it and do not regret it at all, and neither does she as now she asks for us to go there when we are around. Honestly this place sits midway between simply fast food and wings bar (without the beer). Which is to say it does feel like food is fresh. I don't know that it is but it has quality and does not feel frozen. I was cautious to try their cayenne sauce as i imagined it would be very spicy but no, honestly it wasn't, and it was pretty delicious! Love it with wings or chicken strips. Even on the fries! Highly recommend when you are craving good chicken. read more

I ordered food online and decided to try a Memphis Bbq chicken burger and fried pickles. For dessert a strawberry Cheesecake in a mason jar ( my favorite )My husband got the chicken club sandwich with inferno sauce. First picking up the food Santos was very nice and provided the food to my husband (first mistaking not checking the bag. He got home and realized it the dessert was missing, ranch to the fried pickles were missing. The added tomato and pickles to our burger after ordering without. We did have to call to speak with some one to fix the issue. My husband has to drive back to pick up the missing items. They did throw in brownies to say short for the missed items. I honestly think the chicken sandwiches weren't great and next time we will stick to our normal order of chicken strips and fries. I will give it another chance. My husband did say it seems like they might have been short staffed but very clean restaurant and nice environment. read more

Today, my husband went to pick up a simple drive-thru order, after ordering and paying (after being questioned by multiple staff) he was told that the restaurant was out of sides. This caused an already lengthy drive thru visit to extend longer because they had to now make sides. (Thanks for being fresh). After getting home (3 min away) the food seemed hot but after biting into the chicken it tasted of old oil and lacking in flavor. I also called the location and no answer. When I moved to this area and first tried Slim Chickens, I was very impressed but over the last year the quality has definitely declined. read more
