While visiting San Antonio, we hopped over to Helotes to grab some barbecue! Walking in, you order at the counter and then get a buzzer to grab your food when it's ready. There was some inside seating, and lots of outside seating which unfortunately we did not use due to the weather. We stopped by a shop in Helotes before we grabbed lunch here, and we were recommended to get the mac daddy sandwich. It did not disappoint! A good portion of brisket, crispy melted cheddar, creamy mac n cheese, covered in a sweet and tangy barbecue drizzle and in between crispy buttered texas toast slices... heaven. We also got the brisket tacos which were made with corn tortillas that were warmed on the flat top with crusty cheese and then stuffed with the delicious brisket. I do wish it had some sort of salsa or acidity to balance out the richness. We also go some brisket slices to eat on their own, which were fatty, flavorful, and had a nice little smoke ring. My previous review was removed. Probably because it was negative. So, here it goes again...Well...let me start off by saying I'm a vegetarian but haven't always been. I love the smell of BBQ. When we walked in, I thought the smell would be stronger. When the hubby smokes bbq at home, it smells delicious for days. This place is more like a waft of bbq smoke. The beef ribs are huge but pricey! I think we paid $50 for 1 for the hubby. It was very great, and after a few bites, it really tore up his stomach. The jalapeno creamed corn tasted waxy, the potato salad bland, but the chipotle slaw and Mac and cheese were tasty. The bread had been opened too long and was stale, and the bbq sauce was almost gone. We ordered fountain drinks, and by the time I went to get a refill, they had already turned ex the machine off..1 1/4 hours before closing bc they had sold out of bbq. I went to the restroom, and while the lights were ON...multiple roaches were crawling across the floor. This was our first time coming out to B-Daddy's BBQ to try. I will say the young fellas working should take more time to explain the process, and give more time to order. When I walked up, they immediately asked what I wanted, and as I was trying to order the 2 meat option another person down the line was already asking what sides, and they sent me down the line, but I had more food to order. It was a confusing experience, and I ended up not ordering items I wanted to try because they started asking people behind me for their order already and I felt it would be rude to order more food while they were already moved on. They were out of a lot of food I tried ordering, which also made the process difficult because I had to retrace back to the menu. The spud we ordered was very old, and the cheese was very cold. So, the butter didn't melt into the potato nor did the cheese, and that was disappointing. The floors weren't very clean, and the restroom wasn't clean at all. The ice was melted where they kept the beer and drinks, and it was just water. Their Mac n cheese was creamy, and the cream corn was very good. The beans tasted sour, I even traded them for another Mac n cheese because they did not taste right at all. The turkey was dry, and the pulled pork was dry. The brisket was very flavorful and tender. The ribs were dry. The bbq sauce tasted too much like tomatoes, it was almost like a pizza sauce. Their high chair was broken, and they only had one. The food was absolutely mouthwatering. Everything was perfect, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. They made it fresh in front of you if you were getting tacos or the grilled cheese sandwiches. All of the meat was just amazing and that someone who's from the south the barbecue was perfect. They were super well priced. I now live outside of DC and the price is for the barbecue that we got were amazing. People are gonna say they're expensive but honest to God they are great priced with amazing food. The service was unbelievable. Everyone at the counter was so nice so sweet had manners. They gave you a good rundown of questions about foods if you had all allergies and we're able to be accommodating with those allergies and help you find food that you could eat. They've delivered the food to the table and they were just overall welcoming and kind. The ambience of the place was awesome. They had great indoor seating options so that you could stay in the AC while you enjoyed their great food. The kids had options to go play on the playground that they have in the back or you could sit outside and eat in the back. They have deck seating, which was pretty cool to see as well. They give you the option of buying the seasonings they use in the cookbook which I bought both. They have options of soda water beer, which I thought was pretty cool. My wife, Daughter, Grandson and myself stopped in last night for some bbq. My wife had a turkey sandwich, I had a sliced brisket sandwich on a jalapeno bun, my daughter had brisket tacos and so did my grandson. The turkey was perfect and nice and moist. A hidden gem of a BBQ place located near Old Town Helotes! B-Daddy's is a step above a lot of BBQ places in that it's handicap friendly with a lot of pleasant indoor and outdoor seating, so the ambiance is something better than 'falling down shack'. Service was on point when I visited, fast and friendly. The BBQ is excellent all around - loved the mixed lean and fatty brisket, spare ribs, pulled pork, and the standout was the smoked turkey - peppery and very juicy. Among the sides, the borracho beans were some of the best I've had. B-Daddy's wasn't too busy on a weekday lunch hour, though I hear it gets packed on weekends and dinnertime. Good brisket, terrible service. I ordered a banana pudding, cream corn, and birria tacos. They said it would take a while for the tacos, so I got my buzzer and waited. It took 20-25 minutes before I noticed that the party of 4 that came before already got their birria tacos. My buzzer still hadn't gone off. And no one came to check on us even though they had like 6 people and there were only a couple customers seated. I noticed the boys were just standing around not even near the grill, so I got up to check and the grill was empty. I showed my buzzer and asked when the tacos would be ready. They said 5 minutes. I grew up in Texas and now live in Vegas, and every time we visit (a few times a year), I have to hunt down good barbecue to get my brisket fix, and several places have disappointed me over the years. This place was a solid hour round trip with a toddler in the car, and it was worth it. We will likely be coming back here next time. GPS will take you to a building that has a physical therapists office, but it's actually the white building around back with the wrap around porch. Enter and browse the menu - we got a pound of brisket (marbled), a pound of smoked turkey, medium sides of mac and cheese and borracho beans, plus a link each of the regular and jalapeno sausage. Meats are cut and weighed in front of you, trays include white bread. Pickles, onions, jalapenos, and sauces are by the drink station, be sure to get a sweet tea. They have combos, including a family pack available, as well as sandwiches (including a brisket grilled cheese!) - the platter I made was about $70 and good for three hungry adults to share with a little bit of everything left over to take home. The brisket really hit the spot for me and the perfect texture and flavor, it didn't even need sauce. The turkey was also great - peppery skin, very juicy. The mac and cheese was indulgent and the beans were slow cooked and delicious, they were the only thing my daughter really ate. It was lunchtime on a Friday and they had a full house, but the line moved really quick. My husband and I both got the 3-Meat Plate. This was my first time supporting this restaurant and I ordered dinner for my family for pick up last night and was pretty disappointed in a couple of things. First of all pricing on yelp is incorrect. I ordered 2 orders of the favorite which shows it's $75.00 but when I arrived it was $120.00. Second when I got home I realized there were no onions, pickles, bbq sauce or bread with the order. Apparently after speaking to the supervisor today you are supposed to get them yourself as if you were dining at the restaurant. There was no mention of this to me.
