We shopped at their Helotes store for the first time, it was like walking into a magical meat market from yester-year-super clean, beautifully laid out display cases but the real surprise was the old - fashioned attentiveness of the staff! Shane in particular is a meat rock-star, -knowledgeable and professional. I've been searching for authentic Italian sausage since we left Boston Ma. well, my search is over -I almost passed-out when I took my first bite-it was THAT GOOD! Their pork chops make supermarket ones look pathetic AND they will cut them to your thickness request, is this place real? We have been going to Schott's since they were at the original spot further out. Always friendly and a variety of meats. The steaks are very nice cuts and clean. They even have some vegetables and things like prepared potato salad, which is delicious by the way!! Also they have other shelf items, like salsas and chips. You can find your whole BBQ menu there. First time here yesterday and they gave a great first impression. The woman behind the counter was kind, attentive and patient. Willing to let us sample some dry meats before we purchased since it was our first time. We ended up buying some dry sausage, carne asada meat, chicken and more! Very good customer service! Even ran into a customer who shared his dry meat with us just so we could see how good it was and why he keeps coming back. We live just down the road from the Culebra location in Alamo Heights. When we walk in the staff is always friendly & welcoming, they are more than willing to help you find the exact cut of meat you're looking for. And boy do they do a fine job of seasoning and marinating their meat. The quality of meat is bar none some of the finest. Nothing like the box store meats. They also have jerky & jerky sticks which are fire. We're thrilled to have them in the neighborhood. I'm sure we've spent $50,000 since 2020...can we get some stock options guys? ;) I only have one recommendation for Schott's, that initial smell when you walk in the door...can you turn that into a bottle of cologne? If so I'll take 2 & 10% for the idea! :) Highly recommend Schott's to anyone, including vegans & vegetarians - it's important you see where your food should be going & what you should be eating. Schott's was one of the most highly recommended meat markets on the 'San Antonio Foodies' FB page, and I agree it is excellent. If you can stick to the on-sale items it's a heck of a deal: we picked up some beautifully marbled beef ribs for less than what you'd pay at a conventional market. While the pork shoulders are priced 10% higher than at HEB we made pulled pork out of one and it's better quality, definitely more tender. Fast and friendly service, focusing primarily on beef but there are some pork and chicken products. They also have a few specialty items such as tomahawk steaks! read more

I picked up some fresh polish sausage to smoke at home and I was very pleased with the quality and flavor of it. The prices were very reasonable and they had a great selection of different meats. We went there to process a deer into Steaks and other forms of meat cuts so we will know later about how that turned out. The store appeared to be very clean and well organized. I love this place. They are always stocked and their meat is always incredible. Their akaushi beef is one of the best I have ever tried; so flavorful and soft as butter. I visited this place based off of a friends recommendation. The first thing I noticed upon walking inside was the haunting aroma that smacked my olfactory senses. Any carnivore would fall in love with the smell. They have quite a few different cuts of meat and they offer other things like jams, pickled eggs, cheeses, etc. I decided to get their bacon wrapped jalapeño cheddar burger patties as they're fairly priced at two per package. This place is great! I only discovered them about 2 years ago and they were up the road closer to Pipe Creek. They since moved to Bandera Rd/1604 area and kept their name. Don't get confused with the other same name place up by 211. This one has friendly staff, down home good selections, reasonable pricing, better selection, more unique marinades, real people and they stick to their focus...meats. Not produce or beverages or something else...this is a meat market. I've bought everything from these guys over the years, Angus, Prime, Choice, Akaushi, Wagyu, marinated fajitas & plate ribs (the big Flintstone ones). My FAVORITE market!! Normally we stock up on meats from H‑E‑B, but after a recommendation from a friend, this place has been a hit. The staff is very friendly and answered every single question we had in regards to their products. They offer a 95% lean grass fed ground beef for $6 a pound. This is about $2.00 cheaper than H‑E‑B. They also offer other high quality meat including their chicken and beef fajitas that are seasoned in their house made seasoning blend (it is amazing). We have bought several different cuts of meat and have noticed a huge difference in the quality compared to H‑E‑B. We will continue to shop here and again enjoy the amazing staff at works there!!! We love Schott's. It's a small storefront but they have everything you need to have a great cookout or dinner at home. Roaster chickens, steaks, briskets - even dog bones! This is our go to for any meats and there are sides as well if you want a one stop shop for dinner! Everyone is helpful, service is quick even on a busy weekend afternoon. I wanted to be excited about this being in the neighbor and I was happy to see it. Prices are not bad but the customer service was horrible. If your goal was not to make money cheers to that. We went into grab a ribeye and my mother was excited and had just a few questions. The man could not have been more annoyed with two questions about the ribeye. Your job is to educate and sale people not to scare them off because you can't spend time to answer a question or even say thank you. Welcome to retail if you don't like it get out. If you are having a bad day - fake a smile. Or at least take a minute with your customers. There was a woman working that seemed nicer but overall the unwelcoming atmosphere will not cause a return from us. Which is sad because we would have been great customers. Hopefully they will read this and learn to treat people a bit better, especially customers that support your business. read more
