You don't even need to read this review- just go....stop what you're doing and get yourself to a table! We're out of towners looking for some delicious food for a late lunch. Shout out to the person who complained the kitchen sings because I saw that and went "YEP! That's where we're going! I love a place that has fun at work!" And friends....this place lived up to every delicious note Valarie was our server and that bubbly gal treated us like long time friends as soon as we sat down. Seriously, if you can request her, you won't be sad! (ahem, and management, no matter what she's making....give that sweet gal a raise haha) She was training the very sweet and helpful Artie. But the food....oh the food!! FRIENDS! Come for the service and kitchen singing but stay for the BBQ! Order the deviled eggs, order the fried pickles, spring for the famous homemade bread, order a spicy Rita, get the potato salad, the brisket, the chicken, the pulled pork....its all delicious! Delicious food, fun atmosphere, and friendly service. Plus the kitchen sings!! Amazing! I honestly don't know why you're still reading this....Go! Get to a table! Ask for Valarie! Oh! And the banana pudding is a must!

I recently visited County Line in South Texas, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying dining experiences I've had in a long time. The barbecue was excellent--I ordered the brisket sandwich, and it was packed with flavor. This was one of those rare meals where I walked away with zero complaints about the food, the staff, or the environment. Everything just worked. The portion sizes are massive. One regular side of mac and cheese was enough to feed my brother, his wife, and their three kids--we were genuinely stunned. The ribs were enormous, like straight-up dino ribs, and full of flavor without being overwhelming. Every bite was rich and well-seasoned, but it didn't leave you feeling heavy or bloated--just craving more. I tried a mocktail that was basically a spicy virgin mojito: lemonade, cucumber, mint, and jalapeño. It tasted great, but fair warning--the jalapeño flavor is very raw and lingers for a long time. I love spicy food, but it did leave my tongue feeling a bit unpleasant afterward. I'd recommend getting it without the spicy element unless you're really into that kind of heat. That said, they offer beers, wines, and cocktails, and everything looked well put together. The atmosphere is beautiful--green, relaxed, and inviting. It looks like they even have a stage for live music. Parking is plentiful, and I'd recommend parking in the back for the easiest entry. Now, here's something unexpected but genuinely cool: the restroom. It was surprisingly clean and honestly worth checking out. It feels like a piece of history--almost like a restored relic from the late 1800s or early 1900s, as if they lifted it straight from an old county courthouse downtown. To top it off, they have a custom County Line trivia radio playing in the restroom, quizzing you while you take care of business. It was funny, creative, and totally memorable. The service went above and beyond. We were celebrating my brother's birthday, and the staff stored a full Chantilly cake for us, kept it cold, found candles, and even tracked down a lighter so we could celebrate properly. That kind of attention and care really stood out. I'm absolutely bringing friends here again, and I can already tell I'll be a loyal customer. Highly recommend County Line if you're looking for great barbecue, generous portions, and an all-around solid experience!

Don't sleep on this place. The staff has always been amazing. Fast and quick for pickups. The food has been consistently good. Awesome country feel inside. Definitely keep showing them love. The food is better than most.

Delicious bbq! The brisket was the most tender I have ever had! The beef ribs were gigantic, moist, tender and delicious! The burger was scrumptious. The beans were perfectly seasoned. The coleslaw was plain. The bread was good, but the honey spread was awful. Could hardly taste honey. More like an oil spread. Our waitress was great. Very attentive and gave great advice. The decor was country, cute, with lots of interesting sign and knock knacks to look at.

The queso fries are great! Could be shared between several individuals or eaten as a meal. The brisket was a little dry. Chicken fried steak was HUGE and had a good gravy on it.

The food was good and very reasonable. We ordered the combination plate that had 5 or 6 kinds of meat and two sides. Our server was a funny guy, he helped us with the menu and also with directions since this was our first time visiting the area. The ambience was fun and exciting, so many things going around at the riverwalk, there's music playing, people traveling around with in boats, very entertaining. Wish we had more time to explore

Two meat serving: Links and brisket. Two sides: Baked beans and potato salad.

We finally went to this place we always see off the IH10 freeway. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. They sat us down right away and everyone was really nice and helpful since it was our first time there. The menu was simple and easy to understand. Our server was always on top of things, making sure we had drinks and refills. The food came out hot and pretty quick. You definitely get a lot of food for your money, we all had leftovers. We didn't have any complaints at all, we'll definitely be going back. Great job!

Hadn't been here in a couple years but last night was so goood. I don't remember the food being as good as it was last night and was soooo delicious. Of course the decor is always fun and you go home smelling like bbq. Great portions.

Three meat combo with beans and potato salad, loaded brisket baked potato, and their homemade fresh and hot bread.

We went there for dinner after reading reviews and comparing other places in the area. I'm so glad we decided to go. The food was great and very plentiful. We still have enough for dinner tomorrow. It was pretty slow on a Monday night, but everyone went above and beyond to insure we had a great evening. As for the "loud kitchen" comments. The cooks were singing along with music and having a great time at their job. There's to much sullenness in the workplace these days. It was refreshing to hear them have fun. It was never loud enough to interfere with our conversation, and in fact a lot of times we had to strain to hear it. It's nice to go to a place that provides a positive work environment. If you want a quiet somber dinner, maybe don't go to a bbq restaurant?

Sample photo of the poor quality of Romaine used in the salad

My Server was friendly and very nice! The food however was disappointing!! I ordered the grilled salmon ceaser salad this evening to go. The salad had wilted leaves (see a sample photo). The salmon was overcooked and on the dry side. The side of bread was also not fresh and was very dry. My order was a take-out and I didn't realize the poor quality until I opened it for dinner, otherwise I would have returned it! For $17.99 plus tax and tip, the quality was poor. Next time, for the same price or slightly less, I would rather go next door to the Sea Island Shrimp House.

This is the brisket I was served.

I didn't need extra fat from avocado after the corn cakes since it doesn't add much flavor to the dish. The corn cakes are good and I will order again but not as good as some other cornbread. It came with 2 cakes. One was undercooked and one has a crispy crust. The undercooked one was my favorite. It is more moist with soft in the middle. Tuna Al Pastor has a kick but nothing special. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. I wish it was a fluffy whip cream to cut down from all the sweetness. Overall it's still a better tres leches than other places in the area.

We arrived around 5pm on a Thursday and got in queue which was out the door and wrapping around the front porch. Their host/doorman was kind, he offered the line water on many occasions and made pleasantries with almost all guests as the line moved. It was a hot day so those waters were clutch. By the time we made it to the front of order line maybe 40 minutes had passed. But ladies and gents the wait is worth it. When we plated our trays on the table my family all had heart eyes, and had equally loved our first bites. Their brisket is extremely tender. It's beautifully sliced and made for an amazing welcome back to the South taste for me. I was in heaven. I particularly enjoyed having the fresh pickled red onion for fresh, zesty cuts through the abundance of other saltier elements on the plate. Their menu is slammin! Their sides, and sausages all had crafty ingredients. I enjoyed their spicy link options and their macaroni was delightful. Their BBQ sauce was a nice 4/5 but certainly did the job. As a native Texan who's had their fair share, this was easily some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Top 5 top 5 top 5. I'm of course coming back and looking forward for more banana cream pudding especially. They were small, slightly sweet, and had great balance with the vanilla wafer ratio. That whip cream on top too had me hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome back meal for the bold Texas cuisine, hospitality, and novelty animal and cowboy decor.

The cabbage was somewhat spicy, the cornbread muffin was a half muffin, the muffin did not fill up the cupcake muffin wrapper. But the fried catfish, fried chicken wings and yams were on point, I would order the catfish and chicken wing plate to go anyday! The peach cobbler was very sweet. My daughter ordered meatloaf, a pork chop plate, Mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, a tropical punch beverage and banana pudding which I felt the pudding was watered down vs. being thick. She asked for medium cooked pork chops and one pork chop was medium and one pork chop was over cooked. She notified the cashier and he stated they both were cooked at temp the same time. The collard greens were spicy and the Mac & cheese were watered down. I had to go to the restroom. This was the worst restroom in any restaurant I have ever used. First, there was no light on, I had to ask for light and one of the employees turned on the light. Secondly, there was an awful hole in the top right corner ceiling, I was afraid to use the restroom for fear of some bug crawling in through the ceiling hole. Third, there was also a hole in the wall visible behind the toilet tank top, again I was afraid to set down on the toilet and the whole bathroom decor was unappealing. When other patrons described this establishment as as "HOLE IN THE WALL" they were absolutely correct. Don't forget about the hole in the ceiling! Entering into the building, the walls and ceiling were black, making the atmosphere sad. There was also a small bar to the left of the dining area. But the kicker for me was, our two meals, two beverages, and two desserts cost $61!!! As many Soul Food Restaurant I have eaten in with my daughter for two people, I have never been charged so much for two soulfood meals with two beverages and two desserts. RECOMMEDATION: Of course my palate is different from other customers, but I would never return to the establishment due to being over charged for two meals, two beverages, two desserts and the lady's restroom was the pits.

It is the perfect stop after showing friends and family the Alamo and the River Walk before heading back home. Just be prepared for a line because every time we have gone, there is usually one. The ribs and sausage are also solid choices. For sides, we rotate between the well seasoned green beans, mac and cheese, beans and okra. All of them are excellent and you really cannot go wrong. Side note. I am not a fan of their corn. I prefer corn that leans sweet rather than spicy, so it is not my favorite. Next time I go, I already know what I want to try. I personally prefer brisket that's freshly sliced without being cooked again. I was also surprised that additional brisket slices cost $0.50 each. The potato salad had plenty of ingredients, but it wasn't my favorite. My biggest concern was that it was cool rather than cold, which made me question whether it was being kept chilled enough. A-List Verdict: Brisket had flavor. Extra charge for slices was unexpected. Potato salad temperature was disappointing.
