I came here for lunch with some co workers, and it was pretty good! The potato salad was great, and the chicken was well cooked. There is outdoor seating, which is where we sat since there was 9 of us. But the weather was nice, outdoor seating is also covered. Service was solid and I liked that they had a variety of BBQ sauces on the side: sweet, regular, and spicy. I ordered The Mac Attack sandwich with brisket and mac & cheese. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, though the bun was a little dry, but the sauce helped balance it out. The brisket wasn't dry but could have been juicier. Let me start off by saying this. When we walked in the door, we were hit with the most disgusting smell. Like garbage or wet mop. We debated leaving because it was so intense. It smelled great outside, I don't know if there was a dumpster or some smell wafting in from some other place, but man it was gross. We decided to stay, and the closer we got to the front, the kitchen smells began to overpower the other smell which was a great relief! We had the three meat plate with cream corn and potato salad, brisket sandwich with macaroni, and brisket sandwich with potato salad. First the three meat plate. The brisket was juicy, nice bark, and well seasoned! Bravo for that! The cream corn was also really good and flavorful! The potato salad was too sweet for two of us, but the misses quite enjoyed it! The spicy sausage was just ok. Not to good, but not bad. At least it was actually spicy! The turkey was perplexing to say the least. It reminded us of our aunts dry Thanksgiving turkey. Not the smoked turkey we are used to from other bbq places. Skip it. The macaroni was the consensus least favorite. No flavor, about as good as box macaroni. Ok the misses sandwich was great, but the midgets brisket on his was super dry. We all tried and he may have gotten the super dry tip. If we hadn't ordered other brisket we would've thought it was bad. The bbq sauce was soooooo goooooddd!!! I love when something labeled spicy, well is actually spicy! Still tingled after we left and we loved it!!! Love the pico too! It was also spicy as it should be! Dam the smell was hard to overcome! I think we ate with a bunch of regulars, and maybe they were used to it? As soon as we walked out and got closer to the door smelled it again! Would've been a four! Rusty Bucket BBQ Did not disappoint. Our group ordered to go twice in two weeks. I tried ribs first, then brisket... probably got same sides tho, potato salad and green beans. Everything was really good. Meat was seasoned and cooked well, didn't need sauce but it was nice to have a little extra flavor. Meh!! Passing through Texas and of course I wanted Texas Barbecue!!! The ratings were high for this spot; however, they didn't deliver as I'd hoped they could. It was just meh. The sides were delicious! I had cream corn, macaroni and broccoli and cheese casserole! However, the brisket was horrible!!! Hard dry, and dark, and they still gave it to me like that. I don't understand how you can serve a customer Meat that dry It was clearly hard. Service was great and it's small and cute inside. People apparently like the pork ribs and sausage. I don't eat pork so I didn't try their ribs and I don't think there's sausages beef so I didn't try their sausage. This place has some fantastic food! I had the brisket & sausage with a baked potato and banana pudding. The portion was huge! I couldn't quite finish so I asked for a to go box with my head hung in shame. The atmosphere was exactly what I wanted it to be. All around a super experience. Today (8/12), I visited San Antonio from Houston with my man and our son for a day trip. A couple of hours after we arrived, we decided on trying some of the best BBQ San Antonio has to offer, and Rusty Bucket came to mind after I looked up the menu a few days prior. I made an online order and got a few items from the menu. I ordered the Rib Plate and an extra Rib with 2 sides (Potato Salad and Broccoli, Cheese and Rice Casserole), a Mac Attack Sandwich with an actual side of Mac and Cheese and a Coke. I also got a Sausage, Peach Cobbler, and a Popsicle. First of all, I took my 1st bite of the Ribs, and I was amazed at how tender and seasoned it was. I just know in my heart that the rest of my meal will be just as good as those Ribs. Out of all the Ribs I tried so far, this is in the top 2 hands down. The Ribs was seasoned to perfection and slow cooked. Low and Slow is the best way to go if you want your Rib meat to fall off the bone and your brisket to melt in your mouth when you take that 1st bite. I will get that again when I return. The Brisket Mac Sandwich called the Mac Attack was so tasty. The brisket (once again) was seasoned to perfection, and I saw that smoke ring around that brisket. I tasted the Mac and Cheese by itself, and it was a bit bland by itself, but with that sandwich, the brisket made it up for the blandness of the Mac. It's a good thing, though, that they gave us salt and pepper in the bag when I picked it up along with onions and pickles. The Sausage was juicy and very delicious, even my son was eating every last bite of the sausage, some of my Ribs and some of his dad's brisket. The Peach Cobbler was decent, the Broccoli and Rice Casserole was decent as well, but the star of the show besides the ribs and brisket is the most delicious Potato Salad I had ever in life. That Potato Salad was perfectly creamy, and it left me completely speechless. I need a bowl of that Potato Salad as soon as humanely possible. I'll get that again, again, and again. The service was great. I loved the 2 ladies who helped me. They were phenomenal. The ambiance was like an actual Texas BBQ party when you invite your family over for the 4th of July or just a summer get-together. That's what it felt like.
