The General Public has an amazing Happy Hour with great drink specials and appetizers. On this particular visit we stuck to the Happy Hour menu and it created a wonderfully filling meal. With plenty of seating at the bar and in the dining area, there was plenty of space. The serving system is efficient so our food was out quickly shortly after our drinks. The food was so good from the gigantic Bavarian pretzel to the Brussel Sprouts, it was all fantastic. For a great Happy Hour experience, I highly recommend The General Public.

I came here for a recruiting event. Their appetizers are pretty good. We tried the skewers that have mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes, and a drizzle of balsamic sauce. They also have fried empanadas. There's also these buffalo chicken meatballs, but the sauce is a little too acidic for my liking. I really liked their Yuzu Sprite mocktail drink. You can really taste the tart slightly bitter taste of the yuzu. I also tried a peach whiskey drink, and I realize I do not like whiskey. The servers are nice and attentive and very patient. The restaurnt and bathrooms are clean!

This place is so good! We came here during lunch and they had a really great lunch special menu. We absolute loved all the food. We started with the artichoke dip and we got the $12 dollar lunch special fish and chips. It was a generous basket and the fish was so crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I loved it. Our waiter Tommy was so nice, we enjoyed his recommendations. It was not busy when we went but they do take reservations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like it felt like a very relaxed place to come eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here with my daughter for brunch before we went to the movies to watch Sinners! Great movie by the way. As for the General Public, well if you are a brunch and mimosa person this is a great location! $1 mimosas before 3pm! Service was really good, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is comfortable, laid back , nice music not loud, they have TVs to watch games which is great! We started with stuffed mushroom that was really good! We also ordered cinnamon French toast that was really great, the cream they are topped with is really light. My daughter ordered the smash burger, she is a huge fan of burgers however she said this one was kinda mediocre, and would've enjoyed having more fries because the fries were really good. I had the steak and blue cheese salad which was really good but the steak pieces were fatty, which I am not a fan of.

I wanted to try General Public's Restaurant Week dinner menu, but I couldn't find a kids menu online so I called to confirm there were kids options. The phone rang for 2.5 minutes and no one picked up the phone. I still decided to drive to the restaurant and give it a try. As we walk in the hostess is walking to the host/hostess stand and I ask for a booth, but let her know we need to go to the bathroom first. A few minutes later, we are back at the hostess stand and I see the hostess enter the back kitchen. No one is at the hostess stand so we wait. I watch the servers all performing their single task. One person looks up at me for spilt second and then goes back to their task. It's just after 5pm and the restaurant is less than half full. We wait and wait. I pick up a menu and review the options. At some point I realize this wait is ridiculous and I walk up to the bar and ask the bartender if someone can seat us. She asks someone walking by to help us and we are sat. I confirm there are three kids options, however a menu doesn't exist. The girl that sat us took our drink order and when she returns we are ready to order. We've had plenty of time to figure out what we wanted to order and are hungry. She explains she is not our server, so we wait. Eventually our server appears, takes our order but leaves all the menus on the table. Somewhere between receiving the appetizer and the entree, the menus that were on the edge of the table were picked up. I noticed other tables that were there before us still had their menus on their table as well. I know the menu left on the table is a little thing, but it takes up space on the table and it's all part of the experience. The only reason I gave this experience two stars was because I enjoyed the food and once our server came to our table, things were good. My child on the other hand loves grilled cheese and tried her meal and instantly said "I don't like it." I got her to eat a few bites, but I knew I would have to find her something else for dinner. I enjoyed the crab hushpuppies as an appetizer. While you don't see or taste crab, the flavor is great. I also enjoyed the coffee rubbed steak and potatoes. The lemon/blue berry dessert was not as good as I anticipated. Overall, the Restaurant Week offering was pretty close to the same price if I would have ordered everything off the menu, so it wasn't much of a cost savings. Will I return? Not likely. We frequent the Rim and La Cantera restaurants and can have a better experience elsewhere.

Went during lunch time and their lunch menu options are great for $12. The Caesar salad has to be one of the best in San Antonio and the green chile chicken sandwich was sooooo good!! The service was great, we went with our pup, so happy to say they are a patio pet friendly restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside and the climate was perfect for an outside lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Brussels had a good crisp, but I personally prefer more of a honey siracha Brussels type. Lunch Menu is 11am-3pm. Happy hour begins at 3pm with their unbeatable 3pm: $3, 4pm: $4 and 5pm: $5.

My good friend and I went here the other night for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entrance and interior are very attractive with lots of eye catching and interesting decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Tuesday night so I wasn't expecting it to be busy but I will admit I was concerned by how few patrons were in the restaurant during our visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sure hope they are busier on the weekends because wow we loved this place! Our waiter was attentive and very helpful with menu recommendations. We started with the loaded tater tots and crab hush puppies. DELISH! Then for our entreé we shared the steak & potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection, especial the steak - it was a perfect medium-rare. Exactly how I love it! The smoked old fashioned was phenomenal. I will definitely be returning.

A whole lot of batter and not a whole lot of fish and the tartar sauce wasn't even dippable with the large pieces of pickles in it.

Just don't get the fish and chips! Oh, and expect to pay if you want your soda refilled!! Will NOT be returning.

We got here early enough that it wasn't busy yet, there wasn't as much seating as I thought there'd be. We sat outside and I noticed there were heaters in case of cold days/evenihgs. The food was very very good! We enjoyed it very much. I went to the bathrooms and was happy that they have the music pumping in there. The bathrooms could use some scrubbing in the corners but other than that, ok. Overall, we enjoyed this restaurant and would come back again, the menu had a lot of enticing looking meals.

Enjoyed the restaurant week dinner here Sunday. Our food was really good. Happy hour is priced according to the hour. $3 at 3pm, $4 at 4pm, and $5 at 5pm The crab hushpuppies are covered in power sugar, so the crab is a little bit of sweetness but serves as the salty part of the dish. The grilled cheese bites are delicious but messy. Everything was good. We were stuffed when we left.

Ideal place for meeting friends during HH, which is exactly what I did. Happy hour prices were pretty good and I enjoyed the House Margarita. Service was perfect and the place wasn't full, which gave a good choice of seating. It's a roomy spot with comfy chairs in a welcoming space. For food, we ordered the Empanadas, Daily Tots and the Stuffed Mushrooms. All very tasty and good sharing portions. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Not really festive for us 4 girls dressed up as I thought we'd sit by a window but we made the best of it. Kenzi was our server and she was bubbly and my friend told her she looks like "Taylor Swift" and Kenzi said she gets that a lot. The birthday girl and another friend arrived early, before me and my other friend so they both ordered appetizers and drinks. One ordered a beet/radicchio-arugula/goat cheese salad and a mocktail and the other one ordered a wedge salad and Espresso Martini. My friend shared her beet salad and it was delicious! We all ordered the Pork Chop Special and I ordered a 15 oz. Prosecco. They have 2 sizes: 5 oz. and 7.5 oz. When our entrees arrived we dove right into them. I haven't had it in a long time and this version is now slightly sweet, smoky and caramelized all over which is nice! It came with a side of whipped potatoes and applesauce. Of course we all couldn't finish it so we took our leftovers home. A couple of friends even ordered Pork Chops to go for their hubbies. One friend orders the Pork Chops from Seasons 52 and she was impressed with this one as well as the deal! She also scarfed on the bread and was raving about it but ate so much before the Pork Chop arrived that she was a little full! Kenzi came by once in awhile so we just poured our own waters from the carafe we set aside on the shelf behind. She took it, though but came back later to pour more. For a bday dessert choice, my friend ordered the trio of mini desserts so we could all try them. Nice little bites after a heavy meal. When we paid, Kenzi accidentally put my bday friend's Pork Chop on mine and added the bday salad and drink on my other friend's tab when she was supposed to pay for all of the bday friend's meal. Kenzi apologized and corrected it. She might have been overwhelmed by the volume of people? Restrooms are clean and fully stocked with supplies. We used it before we left then went to the front to have photos taken. When I asked the hostess/check-in area, where there were 3 female employees, one female employee said "Sure" yet one female just looked away dismissively which I thought was odd. I just had a questionable feeling because we were sat in a corner and then the female turning her head away felt like she was ignoring us. I know they're busy seating people but this was already 2:45pm. I think the male employee with a grey suit who was behind the station standing there may have been the Manager saw no one stepped up so he offered to take our photos. He had a friendly attitude and thanked us for coming in. Duly noted...

We decided to head over to Kona Grill at La Cantera instead. I made a reservation just to be safe and we checked out the menu on the way over. Upon arrival at 6PM, it was pretty empty and got seated a little earlier than our reservation in a large booth as requested, good start. Once we sat down we noticed how dirty the seats and floor were. No biggie, it was probably very busy earlier. Apparently, we were given the wrong menus but they matched what we saw online. While we were giving our order for what we already thought was overpriced selections, our server tells us we had the wrong menus and handed us special Christmas menus. We'll, after taking a few minutes to look it over, what we noticed what was a much smaller menu, with everything priced about 15-20% higher, for the same items. Huh? My sons Fried Rice was $34 and was not a shareable item. If we knew this was the menu, we would have just waited at Ding How. My reservation did not mention the special menu and neither did the website, from what I saw online. Guess you live and learn...and I learned just to wait for what you really want. It was a blessing to be together and to afford a dinner like this. Times are are hard and we do not take it for granted at all. We appreciate the staff that we're working on Christmas Eve and hope they were compensated a bit more based on the higher priced items.

Make sure to inquire about getting parking validation, as my license plate was recognized by the parking service company even though I didn't get any kind of paper ticket. The menu was clubhouse fare, nothing too fancy, which was fine. We shared a Caesar salad, which they split for us into two bowls. The bowls were high sided like soup bowls. Not ideal but it was fine. I really liked the cornbread croutons, and I'm usually not a crouton eater. For my meal I got a cheeseburger with upgraded sweet potato waffle fries. I think my daughter got a grilled chicken burger, I can't recall. Service was great as we were the only people in the restaurant for a while. Or crazy about the country music pumped right at us, but I guess they think that's the kind of music that should be played for the setting? Overall a decent experience and I'll be back for my next quarterly Surpass credit.

Plenty of cheese, pico and meat on this dish and the crispy waffle fries complement the salty with some sweet. The service was a little slower with lots of golfers hanging around after their rounds.
