I was visiting friends in San Antonio, we Full Belly for lunch. We were immediately greeted and seated upon arrival. Since we came toward the tail end of lunchtime, the restaurant was fairly empty. The space was very clean with a darker, cozy atmosphere. Our server was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I initially ordered the patty melt, which wasn't my favorite, but the server kindly offered to swap it for the sausage, bacon, and egg sandwich. The replacement sandwich and potatoes were delicious. We had a reservation and there are bunches oh open tables and a line of people waiting to be sat. A woman walks in after us and cuts the line and is sat for get reservation that is also after us. Another adventure day with my wife as we headed to a big air show in San Antonio. I like to find fun places to have breakfast and Full Belly is unlike most breakfast restaurants. As you will see from my photos of the inside, there is a fair amount of art with a homie style inside the dining room as there decor. We had to order the sweet roll, just one because they are huge and covered in a cinnamon glaze. It was excellent, very tender. My husband got the Barbacoa Poutine Fries and that was amazing. It had a reasonable portion of meat in the dish with 1 egg and a bed of fries. The price is $16.75. I ordered the Sardou Eggs Benny. Brunch all week. Came here twice with work colleagues. Portions are hearty and service is excellent. The second time we came in a group of over 15 people (we called them earlier in the morning prior to coming here) and we were accommodated for a group lunch. Had brunch today and when they say "full belly" they mean it. The service was fantastic and we sat outside. It wasn't too hot and the atmosphere was nice. I had ordered the Wagyu albondigas and while flavorful, the wagyu was just made meatball style and laid on top of grits with milk bread. The milkbread and grits were fantastic. The wagyu meatball was a bit dry but the sauce helps it a bit. My SO ordered the buttermilk biscuits and they were 10/10. I also ordered the sardou eggs Benny. The flavor was interesting. It was a bit too creamy between the eggs Benedict and the spinach and artichoke. But the potatoes are amazing as always. My SO ordered pull-pork eggs Benedict and he says the flavor combination was surprisingly good but the pork was slightly under seasoned. Potatoes are fantastic as always! My sister got Shrimp and Grits with eggs on top and it was a bit spicy but good. My only issue is when we came in- we were not acknowledged- we were wondering if we sat ourselves- there was an employee who just stood and looked at us but someone else came around after about a minute or so- it was weird. Yummy local establishment. Do yourself a favor & order the Pink Hippo Eggs. It is an amazing concoction of perfectly poached eggs in a bechamel sauce with garlic, spinach and toasted bread. My description isn't doing it justice. We shared the dish and found ourselves sopping up every drop of this sauce! We also got a large cinnamon roll to share as a starter. It is quite large but it couldn't compare to the Pink Hippo Eggs. Favorite breakfast in San Antonio. There is a lovely patio outside but we chose to eat inside on this very hot summer day. Star rating based on the possibility of my return. Let me start by saying, the food is incredible. Truly. I've had several dishes over my visits and 9/10 are winners. Servers are usually pretty attentive and seemingly willing to engage and provide good service. That being said, the temperature is always a nightmare! I'm either sweating or chattering, and something always seems to be wrong with the building requiring warehouse fans, open doors, or closed off sections due to fumes. It's a small location. Manny at the bar always takes the best care of me and my coworkers when we come in and all the staff are so welcoming. We work in the same complex and come here daily for his coffee!! We stopped by for a weekday brunch and ate at the bar. Apparently you need to have reservations for this place for a normal table setting, but luckily my partner and I don't mind eating at the bar. I tried the Pork Belly Benedict and the Chai Tiger Latte. I loved the spices and sweetness of my drink, but the amount of milk cooled my drink down too quickly. Tasted great though! The pork belly was good and the red eye gravy was flavorful. I wish there was more of it! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Only thing I didn't care for was the sourdough bread. It was a bit too thick and hard to cut into, even when it got soppy with the gravy and eggs. I ended up taking off my pork and just eating it with the potatoes, which were perfectly crisp! My partner's breakfast sandwich had maple sausage in it, but she said she couldn't taste the maple and it felt like a regular burger. She could only finish half of it, so it was a pretty big serving. Her latte was okay, but she was disappointed there were no flavor options to add to the latte. Service at the bar was great and overall the food was cooked well. However for it still tasting like a typical breakfast, we wouldn't likely make our way out here again. Nice enough to try, but not interesting enough to keep coming back. read more

The place was busy and a ting bit loud but not terrible...unfortunately they were out of the lobster benny so my boyfriend opted for another benny and added salmon...his dish was good but lacked flavor of some sort, it was kinda bland and salmon was pretty fishy. I got the chorizo poblano hash...the chorizo was good but poblano flavor did not come through too well. I wish it had more sauce of some sort. So we must of picked the wrong day. We went for brunch - our norm is to start with a Bloody Mary but alas the restaurant was out of vodka. They were out of lots of liquor so we adjusted. My wife had been eyeing the lobster benys - but again was told the menu had changed even though they were STILL on the menu we received at the table. That coupled with the hostess apathetic response to having to seat us and we were willing to just cut our loses and leave --- however - our wait staff Jennifer was so kind and accommodating after she told us all the "bad" news we decided to stay. This is a nice little spot across from Trader Joe's. It has an Indy artistic vibe to its interior. They typically serve Breakfast/Brunch and Lunch and are closed by 3pm weekdays and 4pm on the weekends. They have a nice menu with lots of good options. I tried the Pork Belly Benny and it was good, although the Pork could have been seasoned a little more. I definitely want to try the Barbacoa Poutine & Fries next time. Stopped here with a couple hours to kill. When I arrived I realized this wasn't my first time here but it's been a while. Strip center restaurant with industrial decor - concrete floors, open ceiling, brick walls, open dining space. It was bustling at 11 am on a Friday. Note they are open only till 3 pm on most days. As I walked in, I noticed immediately that it was slightly warm inside. A large water cooler was just inside the door blowing into the dining area. Obviously, the AC was out. In San Antonio Texas in the summer, AC is almost as important as the food. The host/hostess has a couple jobs: 1) Greet the customer - a positive impression of the restaurant to the patrons. 2) Seat the patron. 3) Thank the departing patrons for their business. I'm sure there are more but these seem the most basic. The owners would have been better served by a "Thank you for coming, please seat yourself" sign. The young lady at the front door was less than enthusiastic let's say. I had a better reception from In-N-Out Burger yesterday. I was seated at a hi-top near the door. I wasn't excited about the "essence" of the customers entering the door being blown all over my table and food by an industrial blower but at least I wasn't sweating. Most of the tables were occupado. With all the hard edges, it was pretty noisy but not so much that you couldn't have an easy conversation with your guest. I was alone so only head conversation at this table. The menu is not too crowded but has a reasonable range of choices. Interesting names for the dishes. I ordered the Pink Hippo Eggs - Paris baked eggs, spinach, local bacon (so the chickens are French but the pigs are Texans???), garlic cream, cheese, focaccia. It arrived in a cast iron skillet. Hot! Nice. Gary, my waiter was very attentive and friendly. Nice job Gary. The Hippo was delish! Think lightly poached (Paris?) eggs, bacon, and spinach in a thin Alfredo sauce. Really filling too. Well done Full Belly. Just the water for me but there are cocktails on the menu that looked appetizing. Overall, solid experience. Came to Full Belly for Sunday Brunch and we're so intrigued by its hidden location and cozy establishment. Friendly tip they sit based on reservations so I highly recommend you make a reservation. Initially we got sat outside since we had no reservation and what was being offered in the restaurant was an hour and a half later. Thankfully my Fiance went online and a reservation at our exact sitting time had opened up so we quickly booked it and were able to sit inside. The food was incredible and everything was freshly made. I loved the Hippo baked eggs but after sitting the oil from the cheese and bacon really overpowered the whole skillet and I wasn't able to continue eating it.
