Excellent craft cocktails. High-end cocktails made with top notch ingredients. This place has a large menu with sometime for everyone.

One of my favorite places to be and last night was the perfect crowd not to busy and not to quiet even had a live jazz band which the music was not to bad. Bartenders are quick to take your order and you're always noticed by them so you're not just standing there feeling awkward. For us older guys or ladies ask for reading lamp since the spirit and cocktail book can be pretty hard to read since the lighting can be little dim. They have just about every type of spirit your palate enjoys and can afford as well as some very expensive ones. Crowd has always been good,on weekdays it's more of mature crowd mix with little bit of young people and weekends can feel little bit of college night or hipster atmosphere but nonetheless still cool crowd. I am always take care of my bartenders by always tipping them and you be surprised they'll remember you and always give a more extra pour. Wink Wink. There's Beer on draft and selective beer bottles don't know what they are I rarely drink beer there....oh they have a outdoor patio so you can purchase cigars in the lounge and smoke in the patio or bring your own and the seating inside is really nice. See y'all there! Cheers!!!

First time I caught the live music and it was outstanding! Thought I was at The Bluenote for a New York Minute I continue to educate my palate with hot bourbons but the cocktail prowess of David , Nathan , Dominic , Dalton , Bebe , Victoria - Incredible Cucumber vodka , cocktails and a tiki will not disappoint you Don and Stephanie always the perfect hosts !! Hospitality is always top notch. Still Austin Tanager is what I had and the results were excellent!

One of the reasons we're coming back to San Antonio! The atmosphere is wonderful. Clean bar and excellent drinks! Bibi, David, and Lance made us feel at home. Plus the whiskey sour made by David was soooo good! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

I used to bartend in dive bars--good times, but nothing like what these mixologists are doing here. The craft, the creativity, the precision... it's on another level. I've had the pleasure of meeting several of the bartenders (BB, David, Dominic, Spencer, and Jorge), and they're not only incredibly skilled but genuinely awesome people. True professionals all around. I'm still learning everyone's names, but every visit just reinforces how great this team is. I don't leave reviews often, but this place absolutely deserves one. After more than 30 years in the service industry and countless visits to restaurants and bars, it takes a lot to impress me--and this spot does it every single time. The drinks are exceptional, the service is consistently fantastic, and the knowledge behind the bar is top-tier. I highly recommend stopping in and trying their spectacular creations. You won't be disappointed.

There's some fucking kid in this bar that makes the most unbelievable drinks, fantastic customer service, but he likes Tottenham, so that's just automatically makes the worst human on the planet, but his drinks are amazing. And the vibe here is great. Phhukk Tottenham GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED

I asked David for a cocktail with green Chartreuse, and he absolutely nailed it. He knew exactly how to balance the flavors and created something unique and delicious. Super attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. Highly recommend!

Beautiful bar and great selection. Wonderful service as well.

This is my second time at Rock and Rye and, it just keeps getting better and better. I came with a friend and was unsure what I wanted as it's a specialty cocktail joint that steers clear of the usual rum and coke and evolves into a work of art in the liquid form. We ended up with Alex and he asked me a few questions and quickly guessed right on point for what I was looking for. He ended up serving me a Tater Swift...(secret menu item) and it was perfect! It was a sweet potato, coffee and nutmeg creamy type concoction that made my taste buds do a backflip. They also have a great selection of mocktails for the non drinkers like my friend. My friend ended up with a Strawberry delight and was very satisfied with this refreshing concoction. All of the employees here gave top knotch friendly service, and I enjoyed the environment. The bar was spacious and chairs were comfortable. They have a beautiful selection and array of bottles going to the ceiling. I noticed some cuties and pops mingled in there like my boy Grogu (baby Yoda). This place has gone way above my expectations, and I hope to return soon to try some food items. I noticed several sandwiches that caught my eye. Rock and Rye will rock your world! Definitely give them a try.

I love going to Rock and Rye. Overall, it's a nice, classy joint with great food/drink options and a calming atmosphere. SERVICE: Bouncer/security is always nice, personable, and respectful. Bartenders are similar. In all my experiences, they have been knowledgeable and always attentive, though never burdensome or pushy. DRINKS: Fantastic, eclectic arsenal of mixed drinks, beers, wines, liquors, and cigars. I am mainly into mixed drinks, so that's what I'll speak to. I've really been into the Q Cum Cocktail recently, which is vodka with dill, Serrano, lime, and cucumber. A bit unique, but right up my alley, personally. I also thoroughly enjoy the Ukraine Mule (Moscow Mule), Aviation Cocktail, and True Azul. Finally, I've had a few Chardonnays and never been dissatisfied. FOOD: I've only had the pretzel with assorted mustards, but I get it literally EVERY TIME. I love mustard as it is and this little dish (pictured below) always hits the spot. OVERALL: Fantastic bar that is relaxed and perfect for quieter evenings with friends or family.

Large bar area great for drinks and plenty of seating without a crowd. Food is light snacks so not meant for food. We got food way faster than drinks so the bread got cold. However they were nice and brought out waters before my table arrived. I'd go again for just drink.

They had a bunch of different cocktails inside lots of unique options and some not so much but where it was all about was the specials one in particular the Dunkle Sandwich as it tasted like Peanut butter and jelly like it was soo good up there with one of the best shots I've ever had soo flavorful and just good like this was by far my favorite thing I drank this night! Our other drinks were yummy too don't get me wrong as each of them has key components that made them taste amazing while I did forget the names just know that each one of them was yummy! On this particular night they had a mentalist wondering around doing magic he was fun and added to our evening here so that was a nice touch! Our bartender was awesome and quick to get us our drinks and I must say everything was mixed very well! Overall awesome spot for date night we both enjoyed our time here and hopefully we get to make it here again at some point because you can't go wrong with a chill speakeasy!

The restaurant has a lot of seating inside, at the bar, and outside. It has a really nice view of the hill country. After being seated we waited awhile and enjoyed conversation and the view. Our waiter was very busy but came over and introduced himself while apologizing and saying that he would return to take our drink order and bring menus. When he returned we ordered our waters. He eventually brought us our drinks and took our order. Despite the delay our waiter was very friendly, checked in on us regularly, and did a really good job the entire time. We decided to share a few items. We ordered the Wagyu Brisket Nachos which comes with brisket, cheese, jalapenos, refried beans, topped with pico de gallo. The nachos were tasty. The chips were thick and able to hold the ingredients. They had a little too much pico but all of the combined ingredients were good. We also shared creamed corn and spinach. This was delicious. The corn had pieces of cobbed corn and spinach spread throughout. This is one of my favorite creamed corn because of the taste and texture. My husband ordered the Texas Peach which is a handheld sandwich that comes with fried chicken, horseradish jam, pickles, and slaw. He enjoyed it. I tried it and we agreed that the chicken was the star of this dish. It was a good size with a crispy exterior and tender interior. I ordered the Whiskey Ridge Steak Burger cooked Medium which is a handheld burger that has grilled meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. This burger was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and you could taste the grill in the meat. The other ingredients added some taste and texture. Overall Whiskey Ridge was a great place to visit. The outdoor atmosphere and scenery is beautiful. The service was great and the food was delicious.

This is a unique venue in that it's a bit off the beaten path near driftwood, up in a hilly area. GPS guided us there just fine. The distillery is attached to a church and wedding venue, and the wizard academy (which our friend attended for his whiskey sommelier certification). I think the distillery is their own separate business and entity but the property all seems like one thing. The bartender said crowded barrel isn't run or connected to the wizard academy but they are friendly given the shared love of whiskey. At the whiskey academy, so somewhere on the property, is the wizard's whiskey vault. Now that's a room I'd like to get into. But, I'm not trying to be a whiskey Somme, so I'll likely never see it in person. We had a few cocktails and couple of straight pours. If we had come earlier in the day, I would have done a flight in addition, to get more tastes. Come with at least an hour to spend here. I enjoyed the Anejo agave (tequila) spirit and we bought a bottle of the Snake Wood Whiskey. This is a fun and uniquely flavored whiskey. It's a bourbon finished with Brazilian Amburana Oak which lends an interesting cinnamon like taste. But it's not cinnamon, it's like reminiscent of baking spices. Very tasty. The staff were friendly and happy to chat about whiskey. We enjoyed our time there, wish we had been able to spend just a little bit longer but such is life :)

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)
