I always give credit where it's due, but unfortunately this experience fell well below expectations. We were celebrating a birthday, and what should have been a special evening turned into a frustrating experience because of the service. Our server was rude and dismissive throughout the meal. I understand everyone has off days, and normally I would leave it at that. However, what was even more disappointing was the manager's response when I brought up the issue. Rather than taking the concern seriously and making any effort to improve the situation, he seemed more amused than concerned. The server's name started with an "R," which may help identify her. I do have her full name now. More importantly, management should determine which manager was working on July 20 around 7:15 PM because the lack of professionalism from both the server and the manager reflects a much larger customer service problem. Looking at the restaurant's ratings, it's hard to believe this was an isolated incident. The manager's reaction made it clear why so many guests leave disappointed. Good restaurants know that service recovery matters just as much as the meal itself. A sincere apology and an effort to correct the issue would have gone a long way. I hope ownership takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training. Getting out of work early I decide to meet up with the fellas for a little happy hour so off I go to Yard House. When I get to LaCantera, I get lucky as someone is pulling out of a primo-parking spot right up front...things are looking up. I get there first and go inside and take a seat at the bar and shortly thereafter the bartender comes by and introduces herself and runs down the happy hour menu for me, very nice. After a couple of tasters, I decide to start off with a summer shandy. It's a very refreshing summer beer and provides a nice counter to my normal amber favorites. My buddies are running late and the bartender notices that I'm by myself, so she comes over to shoot the breeze and keep me company for a little bit. Very nice of her. My buddies finally get there so we all stay at the bar and are well taken care of the rest of the night. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Yard House, and the service was top notch. We arrived a little after 11:30 a.m. on a Sunday. Our hostess sat us almost immediately. They have high tables with chairs, long booth seating, bar seating, or an outside covered patio. For the mains, my wife ordered the Thai grilled pork chop. It was tender, not dry, juicy, and the portion size was big! 11 Oz. It also had a sweet and sour sauce for dipping, and the sides were a cauliflower fried rice with sautéed vegetables. The sides were savory, crisp, and had a hint of smokiness. I ordered the 20 oz. Bone-In Rib Eye with a skewer of 6 shrimp. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The shrimp were grilled amazingly and were huge. The mashed potato sides and broccolini tasted freshly made but nothing spectacular. There was a barbecue steak sauce that came on the side but I really didn't eat it with my steak because it didn't need it. The Ribeye was perfectly seasoned and I would definitely get it again. Overall, this place was great. They had a little bit of everything on the menu. Also, if you like beer, they have so many beers on tap and they rotate often according to the season and what's available. I've been to this location, probably five times and Yard House over 200 times in my lifetime minimum lol. The food is always a 10 out of 10 and the staff is generally kind . They change the menu up a lot, but if you want things the way they were the last time you had gone and nobody ever gives you trouble adjusting your order. It is such a fun vibe inside definitely brewery style, but I would recommend everybody. Try it at least once. . Plus, they provide nutritional information so you can stay on track with a diet if you want to. I tried the following items while we were there: - Onion Ring Tower: The presentation was good, but the onion rings themselves were a bit mushy. I always think there should be some sort of crunch when you first bite in. I wouldn't order these again. - Beer Battered Fish & Chips: The fish was perfectly cooked and breaded and the fries were good as well. I didn't love the slaw but otherwise, I would definitely order this again. - Chicken Steak Bowl: This was one of their meal options under 700 calories and it was much better than I would've expected! Tonight was the usual good quality beer and appetizers but this large table was being particularly VERY LOUD and obnoxious. We asked for a table for 2 and just a short 3 minutes wait we received a text and immediately we were ushered to our table . My husband ordered his beer and I ordered a glass of rose . We had an appetizer which is the Fire cracker shrimp . It tasted good with the right amount of spiciness and a very nice presentation with some rice cakes under the shrimp . My husband ordered the Thai Pork chops while I order a new item in their menu which is the shrimp and chicken Phad Thai . Both main courses were pretty good although I must say perhaps they added more tamarind sauce to my Phad Thai to give it a more authentic taste to it .
