Brunch sandwich with crispy chile-butter potatoes
    Brian B.

Got to visit whiskey cake with my family for the first time to celebrate Mother's Day early. We went for brunch. Since it was still early there was plenty of parking, especially since it is a mall parking lot. We had a reservation for 1015 and the place already seemed full. I really enjoyed how the restaurant looked on the inside, especially the bar area. I went for the brunch sandwich to eat. The sandwich was good, but very sloppy. It fell apart as I was eating it. I wish the bagel had more flavor. The potatoes that came with it were great. I definitely plan to make it back to try their lunch or dinner menu.

Very quick wait time, attentive waitress. Ambiance is nice, cool set up. The food was mostly good- fun flavor combos. The mimosa wasn't great though it's almost like the juice or the champagne had gone bad- but - overall it wasn't a big deal and I still drank it. Would like to come back and try other things!

I cannot count how many birthday dinners and brunches I have celebrated at Whiskey Cake and that alone tells you everything. This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The atmosphere is chic and industrial with a bar that feels like a cross between the Beauty and the Beast library and a Hemingway era study. Edison bulbs antique furniture and warm wood tones make it feel like you have stepped into another time. Every table is candle lit which instantly creates a cozy old world vibe that never misses. The food always delivers and it is rarely the same twice. Our server shared that the menu changes about once a month and many ingredients are farm to table and locally sourced. You can taste the difference and I love that it supports the community. We started with the deviled eggs which were exactly how a deviled egg should be. Creamy balanced and topped with a small frite that adds the perfect salty crunch. I ordered the Guava Gimlet and it was spectacular. Bright citrusy and tropical all at once. A true gem. I had the fish and chips and they were everything I hoped for. Fresh buttery fish in a beautiful beer batter with lemon and malt vinegar. Crispy well seasoned fries sealed the deal. My husband had the salmon with mushrooms greens and a creamy sauce that completely elevated the dish. The real star is the Whiskey Cake. Always available and always unforgettable. Texture flavor lighting and yes even a little drama. I cannot recommend this place enough and I hope you love it as much as we do.

Happy New Year my fellow Yelpers... Right before Christmas, my wife and I were at La Cantera to get some last minute shopping done. After all of our shopping was done, our stomachs began to grumble. I looked at the options around, browsed menus, and Whiskey Cake looked like a delicious option. Whilst on my walk to the restaurant, I ran into my sister and brother in law, and encouraged them to join. We all walked in and were seated right away. A very modern looking restaurant and bar with a somewhat rustic appeal. We were seated and handed menus. The friendly waitress asked if we had been there before to which we stated we had not. She enthusiastically explained the menu, explained their ingredients, then took our drink orders. We perused the menu while drinks were being fetched. Looking over the menu I saw many different delicious options and had a hard time picking something. Then, my selection jumped out at me. I am a huge fan of chicken and waffles, and there it was on the menu. Looking around a saw other diners eating it and it looked amazing. The waitress came back and we ordered. My brother in law opted for the chicken melt sandwich, my sister pancakes, my wife a breakfast dish, and me chicken and waffles. We all had a nice visit while we waited on our food. I was very excited for mine. In good time, our food arrived. All of the dishes looked amazing. The chicken melt looked huge, the pancakes looked amazing, the breakfast dish looked nice, and my chicken and waffles looked like they could be one of those pretty pictures in a magazine of food that is picture perfect. My brother in law was very quiet and scarfed his down. No complaints. My sister enjoyed her pancakes, but was not a fan of the super thick and super dense texture. The pancakes were a good half inch thick each. My wife said hers was just your basic breakfast dish with no complaints. She was not a fan of the chicken sausage. Now for mine, I was absolutely satisfied. Every bite was amazing. The chicken was juicy and crispy, and the waffle offset the saltiness with maple sweetness. The savory gravy was also delicious and I kept alternating between the sweet syrup with the hearty gravy. Every single bite was amazing. This now is my favorite chicken and waffle dish I have ever had in my life. It took me a while, but I polished my plate clean. I was absolutely, positively, amazed and stuffed. We paid our bill and were gone in good time. Great food, great company, and a great day. Could not ask for more! I highly recommend Whiskey Cake, and will be back. In the meantime, I will have pictures of their chicken and waffles dancing in my head in my dreams. I want it again very soon. Enjoy!

    Fried Green Tomatoes

Came here mainly for the whiskey cake, but also got an order of the fried green tomatoes. Didn't get any other food, but the whiskey cake is definitely the star of the show here. The fried green tomatoes were overpriced and tasted like normal tomatoes that had breading--nothing special. I would definitely skip this item. The whiskey cake was super moist and decadent. It's definitely made for sharing. Service was friendly but since it was busy that night, the waiter did take a while to come back around to check on the table. I also liked the dimmed lighting that night, which added to the overall ambiance.

If we lived closer this restaurant would be a problem. We really enjoyed the food, ambiance and service was okay. We ordered a couple of non-spirited drinks, too much food for one dining experience, and carried homes lots of leftovers. Well I finished my left overs for dinner . We started our tastebud experience with their cinnamon roll with roasted pecans. D*** just the best we've ever tasted so far in the US. Our entrees were fish and chips plus the prime rib and Gouda. As I stated earlier we carried out "doggy" bags. You can look at the pictures for the massiveness that was the food on our plates. My eyes got big as they walked near our table. I guess they really do everything BIG in Texas. Come hungry, leave too full for comfort and take home the rest for the next day or later that evening. We will definitely return!

Super service on a Sunday! The food was really excellent and the deviled eggs you must try those.... No rubbery texture is delicious filling and they changed with the menu. Both of our sandwiches were huge and cooked the way we ordered them. This was a pleasant surprise on a Sunday. The food was so fresh. We'll be back again soon.!

First time at Whiskey Cake and it did NOT disappoint! It has over 2k reviews on Yelp alone and now I know why. The ambiance and aesthetic is very "Texas" country chic with a side of "neat". Everything whiskey (duh) from their repurposed whiskey bottle candles to a vast wall of whiskey and liquor options! Very tasteful interior design and service was wonderful. Best of all, their food is delightful! I had a half Reuben with house chips and a cup of baked potato soup. Wow! Chef's kiss!! 10/10 recommend everything! Of course we ordered the whiskey cake but before that to start we ordered the hummus and an order of fries!! Ugh! So yummy!! We enjoyed and finished EVERYTHING! Highly highly recommend!

Five of us Waited a half hour for my cocktail. Asked. Didn't come They said there was a large party and the bartender was backed up. Food was good. I loved the snap peas with whipped ricotta. And then a salad. Wish I could have come back for the peas again. The whiskey cake dessert was worth naming the restaurant !!!

We went on a FRI with coworkers during lunch time; didn't take long for them to seat us. Our waitress, Randy, was very attentive to us and kind to us. The place was clean and offered a nice ambiance. I split 1/2 of my chicken melt with a coworker and she gave me 1/2 her tavern burger. I really liked the Mac n cheese. We ended with splitting their famous whiskey cake with a side of ice cream which was good as well. Seems like a nice place for a first date or just to go and chill with your friends.

Bone-In Pork Chop and Fish & Chips

My wife and I went to whiskey cake for dinner last night. I ordered the pork chop with greens and my wife ordered the fish and chips. Both came out really quick they're hot. The staff was very knowledgeable of the menu and their recommendations and their restaurant was clean neat laid-back atmosphere.

This was our very first visit, and WOW we were blown away! From the moment we sat down, our server Ale (Alejandra) made us feel right at home. She learned it was our first time and gave us amazing recommendations - dishes that are customer favorites as well as some drink suggestions. Her professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made the experience memorable. For food: * I ordered the rotisserie chicken (her top recommendation), and it was fantastic! When the first plate came out looking a little too charbroiled, Ale didn't hesitate, she immediately had the kitchen make a new one, saying she wouldn't serve it unless it was up to her standards. That kind of care really stood out. * My husband had the prime rib sandwich with a side of mac & cheese - hearty, flavorful, and filling. * My son enjoyed the chicken and waffles, which were cooked perfectly and came out golden and crisp. For drinks & dessert: I had an espresso martini, and honestly, it was one of the best I've ever had! Smooth, rich, and balanced - highly recommend it. My husband went with a light beer, which paired nicely with his sandwich. To top it all off, Ale surprised us with the famous whiskey cake - and it was absolutely delicious! The perfect sweet ending to a great meal. The combination of great food, delicious drinks, and an outstanding server like Ale made this such a positive dining experience. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back. This spot is officially on our "must revisit" list! Highly recommend - ask for Ale if you get the chance!

The Prime Rib and Gouda Sandwich with Fries
    Oliver B.

It's been a long time since I've had the pleasure of eating at Whiskey Cake. My server was Emily and she was excellent. All my needs were taken care of. The place is very cool as well with the nice decor. I got the new on the menu Prime Rib and Gouda sandwich with fries($24.99).The prime rib sandwich was delicious. I removed the onions and added pickles. It is a big sandwich and the fries were perfectly seasoned. I highly recommend leaving room for the whiskey cake dessert. It's a phenomenal ending to any meal you have at Whiskey Cake. I highly recommend eating at Whiskey Cake the next time you're at the Rim.

Another great meal! Our server Brahim provided the perfect service: attentive, thoughtful, kind…read more Really enhanced our meal. For a starter we shared the cornbread with another couple and it was plenty for 4 people. If you are from out of town and looking for some Texas-shaped vittles or just want something substantial to stretch your meal I recommend it! Very tasty and filling. For my main I had the scallops with creamed corn risotto. It was a dainty portion but the flavors were nice. My husband had the short rib tagliatelle which he loved. It was very rich and filling. We had the buttermilk pie again for dessert and this time it tasted sweeter than I remembered. It was good but we couldn't finish it. Idk if it was my tastebuds or if it was different. Anyways still a great meal overall and we will be back!

Checked Yelp for dinner suggestions so Doc drove us to the paid lot next to where all the Cinderella lit up carriages drawn by horses were lined up. It seemed the boats going up and down the River portion of the Walk were busier. While we were walking I had my eyes open for a table with a view. We stopped at Four Brothers. The receptionist went over suggestions on the menu on her outdoor podium. Cornbread in the shape of Texas, shareable items like Dino ribs for $82, plus Pork Shank and ice tea completed our order. Everyone was very friendly. We had an exceptional view and we had more than enough food that we had to ask for take out boxes. My favorite was the Mac & cheese though I'm usually not a fan. This dish used cork screw shaped pasta and it was moist and not stuck together. I had to share a photo of it with Sweetie who is in Tokyo right now. Doc liked the pimento for the cornbread. As it was almost 9 pm we decided to pass on the boat ride but just walk on the other side with shops and more eateries. We're back on the road again tomorrow to Arizona.
