Had a great time at Grille 254 watching college football games, having some appetizers and beers. We sat at the bar. TVs around the room. Limited menu, but everything we had was good. The cheese curds with brisket ends was my favorite appetizer. Wings were good, large order!

Checked in to La Cantera resort late on a Sunday afternoon and took the short walk to grille 254. Sat at the bar had great service fast friendly and efficient. I had the Caddie Club huge sandwich and fries could only eat about 1/2 of it. Nice location beautiful view on the golf course. Great spot for a beer and some football on game day

So I took a star off due to the fact when we went in there was literally no one at the bar or in general, we waited about 15 mins before anyone even came from the kitchen I'm assuming. The first person that came was a guy and he just looked at us gave a quick smile and grabbed menus so I'm lk okay he's coming but nope he ended up going to a couple of girls that came in way after us, which come to find out I guess that little group works there or at least one of them did. We ended up finally getting served by a female. So we came bc the beers on Monday are 2.54 and the apps are half priced. The food was pretty good, better than the cocktails. The girl said she never made the ones I was asking for which is fine she had the recipe book bc she was able to tell me what was in them since the flyer doesn't say. But I feel she prob didn't measure correctly or at all bc they were just meh. I feel lk the spots at this resort need to really up their customer service and maybe train the bartenders to make cocktails that really should be up to par with the atmosphere. We also got their brisket, ribs and creamed corn casserole to go, which took close to an hour to come out, which was fine they did start to get packed and we weren't in a rush, but I will say it helped that they had some Tito's girls passing out some of their mixed cocktails that was a special on the flyer.

    The wing challenge! Sounds HOT!!!

It's been seven hours and fifteen days Since I ate the Fahrenheit 254 wings. I was up all night and wanted to sleep all day Since they took my gut away Since you been gone I can do whatever I want as long, as long as the toilet is near. I can barely see since I ate these wings I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant, But nothing I said nothing can take away these blues 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares to you, you wings from Hades Warning, these wings are hot! I've eaten the hottest that any wing place offers, extreme, fire in the hole, or atomic. If you know your wings you know these places. I will say beyond a shadow of a doubt Nothing compares 2 U Farenheit 254 wings. I ate 2 and my son ate half of one. We suffered immensely for at least 2 days. You like em hot go to one of the mainstream chicken wings places. You want to taste hellfire in your mouth? Eat these. Did I say these wings were hot? I don't want to leave you with any misunderstanding. These wings are beyond hot. They haven't invented a word yet to describe the heat on these wings.

Awesome location! If you can score a window seat...do it. The views are amazing. My co-worker and I had a relaxing, delicious meal. We got the nachos with gound beef and jalapenos slices to start. I ordered the honey habanero fried chicken sandwich, which was tasty, but needs to be more habaneroy. He ordered the blackened Cajun burger. He said it was really good. Thier iced tea was lack-luster...why don't restaurants brew their own tea??? It isn't that hard to do! To end this meal, we got their amazing strawberry laye cake...it was divine! Coffee was good too.

Cool sports bar located in the golf club of La Cantera Resort. A friend told us about this place, so we decided to check out their happy hour. Restaurant has a casual yet classy ambiance. I went in with no expectation, but was pleasantly surprised. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious! We started off with the big warm pretzel and shared the chickpea quinoa burger. I don't usually go for veggie burgers, but it was really good! There are also plenty of craft beers on tap, decent wine list and a decent cocktail menu. Their happy hour is from 3-7 Mon- Fri, but they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. If you're near the la cantera resort area and looking for a 'low-key' atmosphere with great food and drinks, I would definitely recommend Grille 254.

This is one of my favorite restaurants at the La Cantera Resort and Spa. Their food is simple but always consistently flavorful . Their customer service is quite good and even if they don't normally serve dinner in this sports restobar , if ever I stay at La Cantera I will try as much as possible to have lunch in here . My last visit was during the Labor Day weekend where we had some light lunch . I highly recommend this gem of a place tucked near the resort golf course

As another Yelper mentioned, this place can be tricky to find...especially with an Apple phone map. We tried the Fried Brussels from the Starters and were pleasantly surprised. The brussel sprouts were fried but not over-done like a lot of places....and the spicy ginger soy that adorned them was perfect. Not too salty and not too spicy. The shinning star was the generous portion of crispy pancetta that accompanied the sprouts. We also had the Greens Cobb. Ehh it was 3 stars. Not a fan of the lemon mustard vinaigrette that they served with the salad. Did not go with the cobb at all, another complaint is that the only meat was bacon. Since when do cobbs come sans turkey? ***special shout out to the bar*** this place has an impressive Bourbon/Scotch/Whiskey selection

It's a cool place for a late afternoon happy hour. It doesn't get too busy but I was out of there before 7pm. It's a full service restaurant, with a full bar, wine, and about 20 craft beers on tap - most of them brewed in Texas. Monday through Saturday from 3p to 7p, they have $5 wells, $5 drafts, $7 burgers and appetizers. I'd hate to see what their prices are like AFTER happy hour - OUCH! The patio/balcony kicks @ss, but there's no table service out there. However, if you order food at the bar, they will bring it out to you. Awesome views of the golf course and it's up on a hill, so on a clear day you can see the city skyline WAAAYYY off in the distance. The signage to find the actual building is lacking, but if you use Google Maps (DON'T use Apple Maps!) it will get you to the parking lot and then you can use the walking feature of Google Maps to locate which building it is. There are a couple of non descript buildings here that all look the same. But again, Google Maps got me exactly where I needed to be. Didn't have food, just drinks.

Awesome little spot on the la canter resort and spa property. Club house slash grill with a gorgeous view. Lots of craft beer. Friendly staff ready to help you. They even have $1.00 wings. Did not get to try the wings but you bet your bottom dollar I'll be back for those dang wings. Great spot for groups to catch up with. Or maybe grab a drink with your significant other and take in the views with good conversation. Sam (lady) the bartender was very sweet and accommodating. Will definitely be back for sure. Thanks y'all.

My wife and I were staying at The La Cantera Resort nearby for Valentine's Day and wanted some food. If you have ever stayed there, you know that they push the fancy restaurants like Signature more than anything else. Luckily because of that, you can normally just walk right into this place. Fortunately, it's not for lack of quality, my burger was phenomenal. They need to market this place so much better, because it was really great!

When I was a fledgling foodie, a greenhorn gastronome, I might have been impressed with a resort burger, the kind stacked with pre-cooked patties sourced from Sysco and flaccid bacon left over from the morning's breakfast buffet. Now I know better than to plop down $15 on a boring burger at a boring resort. When I caught wind that a restaurant had opened at La Cantera Resort -- this one a casual, bar-focused affair -- I steered clear initially, for I knew what to expect: overpriced clubhouse fare best suited for wealthy middle-aged golfers. Imagine my surprise when Yelpers began uploading pictures of not only burgers (tantalizing ones) but also items I would never have expected from a resort café: caramelized Brussels sprouts paired with crispy pancetta, a cider-brined pork chop, a towering slab of mud pie. Granted, nothing I saw seemed particularly inspired (sprouts and "dirty" burgers topped with fried eggs are vestiges of early aughts hipster noshing), but the photos did look promising. Having visited Grille 254 a record seven times ("Duke!"), I am pleased to report that the food is indeed several tiers above typical resort café fare. The man responsible for Grille 254's small but eclectic dinner menu is Giovanni Silva, a promising young CIA grad whose credits include sous-chef at Andrew Weissman's Signature and chef de cuisine aboard various cruise lines. Silva's culinary approach reflects both the discipline he learned from Oberführer Weissman (from-scratch cooking, inspired plating, attention to detail) and the crowd-pleasing favorites (big burgers, big steaks, big chops) served to countless baby boomers aboard the cruise lines. Chef Silva's talent is apparent in a thick-cut pork chop that retained its juiciness despite being cooked all the way through. Both sides picked up a caramelized amber crust courtesy of the cider brining, while a dollop of coarse, house-ground mustard contributed extra twang and resuscitated the centermost portion of the chop, the only part untouched by the brine. Like every entrée, the chop came with a choice of two sides. I chose creamy whipped garlic potatoes and Brussels sprouts tossed in a mouth-puckering sweet-and-sour glaze. I've spent considerably more on lesser pork chops at several high-end steakhouses throughout the city. The allure of the wedge salad has eluded me for decades, yet I continue to order it from time to time, hoping perhaps that the quality of the toppings will somehow turn me on to the vegetal paperweight that is iceberg lettuce. Iceberg enthusiasts defend its texture, claiming it contributes sufficient crunch to salads and sandwiches, but I see it as a chunk of solidified water. Silva's iteration of the wedge -- an attractive presentation replete with chunky blue cheese dressing, crispy bits of pancetta, cherry tomatoes, toasted almonds, and sour pickled carrot ribbons -- came surprisingly close to converting me, though I would have preferred a different lettuce (romaine, perhaps). The chunky blue cheese dressing tasted homemade (not artificially savory or vinegary, telltale signs of chemical emulsifiers), while the acid from the tomatoes and pickled carrot ribbons cut the creamy richness. It's still not a salad for me, but I would recommend it to any fan of the class wedge. "But what about those burgers?!," you ask. Silva and company grind and hand-form their own patties (a mix of chuck and short rib), bake their own buttery, brioche-like buns from scratch daily, and grill the burgers to order on a live fire. Nine times out of ten (perhaps even 99 times out of 100), a request for "medium-rare" results in a well-done patty, presumably because the burgers are pre-cooked, frozen, and then reheated to order. Fortunately, the kitchen was able to honor my request for a medium-rare/medium patty. The beef was well seasoned and topped with plenty of gooey blue cheese, some of which melted into the meat. The large side of fries were undoubtedly cooked twice, which drove off all remaining moisture and left behind a plate of ultra-crisp, desiccated potatoes. The best part? During happy hour (Mon. through Sat. from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM), all burgers are $7, a far cry from the overpriced $15 resort burger to which I alluded earlier. The quality of service depends largely on the time of day. When the restaurant is busy, expect long stretches of inattentiveness, empty glasses, and plates in need of bussing. If you expect a multi-course meal, prepare to receive your entrée halfway through your appetizer course. If this were a high-end place, I might be less forgiving, but I'm willing to cut the kitchen some slack. After all, the vast majority of customers (mostly golfers and young adults with kids in tow) expect a casual experience, not a three-hour-long degustation. I have much more to share, including my thoughts on the outstanding mud pie, but have once again succumbed to Yelp's arbitrary character limit. Go there and enjoy!

254 mud pie, we shared! Loved the Mouse Texture

We walked in without a reservation, and I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. The patio had a fun, upbeat atmosphere and was a great place to spend the evening. The drinks were generally very well made, once they were prepared correctly. The food, however, was just okay. I had the cheeseburger with an egg, and while it was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable. The standout was definitely the fries, especially paired with the spicy ketchup. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Since we were seated outside, it felt like our table was forgotten. We sat for at least 15 minutes without proper plates, napkins, or silverware and had to ask multiple times before everyone was taken care of. We never had enough water glasses for the entire table, drink service was slow throughout the meal, and at one point I walked to the bar myself because my Old Fashioned had been made with agave and was far too sweet. I also had to track down our server just to get the check. Overall, I appreciate that they accommodated a large walk-in party, and the atmosphere and drinks were enjoyable. However, the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service left us disappointed. I don't think I'd return, as it felt like our table was simply forgotten once we were seated outside.

During happy hour there are select cocktail and bites you can enjoy for $7 each. My drink of choice for the evening was the perfectly balanced Berry Smash . I was torn on bites but ended up going with the Happy Hour sliders and the pork belly appetizer from the regular menu. Both were soooo good...particularly the Pork Belly which was a perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and savory. This visit redeemed Haywire in my eyes and I'm looking forward to returning during regular hours to explore more of the menu during dinner service.

Located in La Cantera and adjacent to Perry's, it's a large location but parking can be a bit tricky at times. It's loud, so don't come here if you're looking for quiet and intimate. Maybe we did both? lol they even sell some small apothecary type stuff as well. Ok let's get to the food! We got the crab cake and the colossal cinnamon roll to start. The kids loved the colossal cinnamon roll. Perfectly balanced with a toffee sauce and spiced pecans. Husband wanted savory so he got the crab cake. It's not Maryland style but it uses gulf crab and a mustardy-seed mix. He and the eldest really enjoyed it! Me, I liked the pickled onions and frisée. I got the steak & eggs hash with a sunny side up egg and medium steak. The steak was just right and had a good flavor. The shishito peppers could've used a touch of salt but they were a good contrast to the crispy fried potatoes, which were large chunks by the way. If only I could have a whole saucier of the avocado hollandaise . It was delicious on the potatoes and the steak! The shrimp and grits were definitely diff from the version we had last year but we liked it! Very vibrant and fresher tasting! The eldest had chicken and waffle. Comes with 2 tenders, 2 eggs your way (she chose sunny side), 1 waffle, syrup and creamy sausage gravy. I normally don't care for sausage gravy but this was NTS! The youngest had the kids Macaroni and cheese, which comes with your choice of 1 side (we chose green beans). We were pleasantly surprised to see it also came with carrots, which she happily ate. Like and crunchy green beans with a creamy and cheesy Mac! Servers don't hover and there's plenty walking around if you need to grab someone's attention for something. They have a large high top table and a few smaller tables in the bar area. We were promptly greeted waters brought out. My wife and I ordered wine and received very reasonable pours. I ordered an Angry Bison burger and fries , my wife had the classic cheeseburger, my little had the Jambalaya pasta , and oldest order led smoked wings and fries. Both burgers were cooked medium well and were very juicy. Could use a little more seasoning but nothing to be upset about. Thick Patty and cheese melted. The French fries were salted just right and crisp. My oldest enjoyed her wings and fries, just wanted more Buffalo sauce which my they gave her. The pasta was good and noodles cooked al dente as expected. We have been here a few times and it's always a good experience.

I have driven by this place millions of times as my folks live only 10 mins away and never thought to give it a try. After a little local shopping we were hungry and decided to pop in. So glad we did! Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, helpful and so sweet. The food was fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked. Sometimes fried mushrooms can be too salty or overly breaded. Not here. They were perfect. The fish and chips were also fantastic. Not too thick with the batter and perfectly flaky. Oh and don't forget to pair your meal with a salad. Their croutons are house made and so fluffy and fresh. Definitely will be back because they have some great daily specials like sirloin plate for $13.99 on Mondays. Can't beat that!

We've eaten here a couple of times now and we've found two things to be very consistent: first,…read morethe food quality is top notch. We tried the Whiskey-Soy BBQ wings and the sauce was just delectable and the wings nicely-sized. We tried the garlic knots and they were savory and practically melted in your mouth. And we tried the pizza and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and it's well worth the wait. So where do we lose stars? The other consistency is that the service is terrible. Often times there's no one positioned anywhere near the restaurant and you have to go find someone to get the ball rolling (i.e. drinks, silverware, menus). The first time, they explained that they had just opened and a lot of the staff had walked out - ok fine. The second time, there was no staff except the bar tenders so the bartender was out server and she was at the bar 90% of the time and at our table to take orders, drop off food and drop off the check -- other than that we didn't see her. No refills. No follow-up after the food was dropped off to see if everything looked and tasted okay, etc. My friend didn't even want to tip the server, but we've both worked in food services so after some back and forward exchange I was able to convince her to leave a decent amount. Lastly, I wish there was some consistency across the different restaurants inside of Embassy locations. I frequent the one over on the other side of town frequently and that one has a rewards program for frequent diners, yet that rewards program is only valid at that location, which seems weird. If every Embassy has a restaurant, why not just have a universal Embassy Diner's Club kind of thing, why is it that one location offers rewards and the others don't? Or maybe the solution is Hilton Honors club discounts -- I have that as well and if you're not staying in the hotel or trying to use the WiFi in the lobby it seems useless (which its worth noting in some locations even using this the WiFi doesn't connect because you can't get past the captive portal screen not loading).

Finding it feels like a scavenger hunt inside Neiman Marcus at La Cantera. If you blink you will miss it. Walking up the escalator with white butterflies floating above already sets the mood. The second floor feels calm and hidden which makes the reveal even better. Once inside the space is bright and peaceful with windows wrapping around the dining room. We were greeted with warm popovers and broth which alone are worth returning for. I ordered the salmon fish tacos with chips pico and salsa. They were excellent. Many places try and fail at fish tacos but these were balanced flavorful and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the pear and gorgonzola salad with salmon and loved it. The view feels tucked away in nature with trees as the backdrop. Service was warm attentive and polished. We will absolutely be back. This one surprised me in the best way.
