    Chips and Queso with brisket
    Darlene K.

it was our first warm day in a while and we went on a dog walk. The dogs were very happy to be in the shade and the humans were starving. Freetail was the right decision since it's so close to Eisenhower. My friend and I split a large pizza and I was stuffed. The servers are still very nice and the patio is very chill. We chatted it up with some other dog lovers. Since we only had the pizza today, it was perfectly seasoned and not super salty. Great time!

Great prices. Good drinks. Service was excellent. Pizza was hot fresh and tasty. Sraff is friendly and welcoming.

A sloppy attempt at half pepperoni and half bbq brisket.

I have been going to Freetail for close to 15 years, now. I used to consider this one of the best pizza places in the city. The beer was exceptional, as well. The nose dive in quality seems to really have picked up pace over the past year or so. It's close to my office and home so I do stop in every so often but am left disappointed each time - whether it's beyond wilted lettuce in a salad, caprese with mozerella that has the consistency and taste of rubber, or pizza that seems just sort of sloppily thrown together, it's been sad to see this place go in the direction that it has. And the beer... there are some staples that they continue to deliver on, like La Muerta, Bat Out of Helles, Velicohopter, and others, but... there are some that just miss a mile wide right - I tried something different, a rice lager, which I usually enjoy, and it had the aftertaste of leaving the plastic wrapper on something you'd cook in the oven. I'll keep drinking the beer because it's convenient and continue to hope the food gets better, but I'd expect to see this place close its doors within at most a few years with the competition moving into town. As for the pizza we got (half pepperoni and half bbq brisket), it was like they found a supplier of canned brisket chunks and just dumped it in a pile in the middle and said, "yeah that seems ok."

This place is always a good time. It's got plenty of space and the staff are great. Unfortunately, they were working with half a license and couldn't serve ciders, mead, or wine. I enjoyed the chicken nachos and the Hawaiian pizza, but would prob skip the Greek pizza next time. My son didn't leave any of his pretzel - so that was good. The turnaround on food was short ... and tg food came out fast. No wings!?!?!? I had a flight of beers, and it was okay. The stout was definitely stouty, and the amber was pretty good. The flights are a good idea if you don't know what you like, but you risk getting 4 that you want to try and not like any. The location practically has its own parking lot, indoor and outdoor seating. I like Freetail, so I will be back, but I'll stick to what I know and try the tested here...

    Greek Pizza M & Supreme Batastophe M

I went to Freetail for the first time this past weekend with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. I don't drink much beer and was a bit disappointed to learn that all of their ciders were canned and not on draft. Regardless of it being canned, I ordered a pineapple cider that I saw inside (but wasn't shown on the menu). For dinner, our group decided to split an order of the chips & queso along with three medium pizzas (the greek, the meathead and the supreme batastrophe). The supreme was my favorite as it's the usual pizza I would order, but the Greek and meat head were also very good (fun to try something different). I did think the prices were a bit high for the size of pizza you get. As for the chips & queso, it was good and came with salsa which is nice. For me, the salsa was too spicy but I also have a low tolerance for spice. I liked the atmosphere of the outdoor area and the service was great.

Firstly, Freetail has a great atmosphere with a very nice and opened patio. Secondly, I do not recommend their chips and salsa - gave it a 3/5. Their brew selection wasn't really there for me - about two stouts and on top of that not that great. Thirdly, their service was 10/10 though.

BBQ chicken pizza add banana pepper

This review will really be a sh*t sandwich. Good bad good. My bartender was really great. He was super busy, but he kept clearly making time for me. Never let me sit with an empty glass for more than a few moments, kept my water cup full, and remembered my order every time. I'm not convinced the pizza here ever comes out hot. It kind of has a look of pizza that's just always cold. I ordered the BBQ chicken and added banana peppers. Nowhere near enough sauce on this pizza. Not a ton of toppings. Overall, for the pizza alone, I give it a 4/10. A big party came in behind me, got their pizza and it was somehow already cold? The atmosphere was great! Plenty of TVs to watch games or shows or whatever you're in the mood for. I love the open bar area into the patio. And to top it all off, I had some really good beers here. Would absolute recommend the 401k Pilsner. And the crust of the pizza was also good. Just needs longer in the oven. Will I come back? Yes. Will I eat again? Maybe. Will it be the pizza if I do? Most likely not.

We came here for a late night dinner. The restaurant was pretty full for Friday night at 9. The hosts told us it was open seating. The restaurant has inside seating and at the bar. The outside seating is really nice with lights. The service was good and pretty fast. The hubs had a Philly cheese sub with chips and horseradish sauce. It was good. I had club salad which is one of my favorite salads. It was great too. They are known for their beers. I had a blackberry cider and he had a lime beer. We will come again.

I only stopped by to have a beer and an appetizer so I don't know enough to rate the restaurant. However, the food was great..we had nachos, amazing! Great beer...wish beers were a little cheaper but the food price was on the cheaper side. We enjoyed it.

I HATE IPAS...or should I say...hated... Until I had an IPA from Freetail and they ruined my life. My palate is changing, but these beers were seriously good. I really enjoy their IPAs which I have never been able to say before about any breweries. I am a stout girl all the way, until Freetail. I had my first Freetail beer at Streetfare and HAD to come to the brewery. So glad we did! Great view from the outside patio. Plenty of parking. They offer lots of food. Great place to hang out and enjoy a beautiful afternoon. Enjoy!

We would drive across town for the consistent service and quality of beer and food. Thank you for being in our backyard. We will drop in for the delicious pizza, beer, Messina Hod wine, and root beer float for desert. My fav... Freetail Salad with cilantro lime dressing. And the screens with all the best games!

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

The place was located in a small plaza off the side of some main roads, and we gathered for a class team building event. By that I mean beer and burgers. The entrance beckons you to come on in, what with its neon sign and all. The walk up feels rustic, and the door makes it official: you're entering an awesome place. There's plenty of seating and every night has something else to offer. I enjoyed the breakfast burger which was delicious. I liked the quality of the bread and the contrast of a well-seasoned patty. The fried egg was prepared beautifully, and the yolk covered the fries waiting below on the tray. The place is military friendly in terms of the bill and our sever, Rebecca, was not only fast and friendly but very welcoming and knowledgeable. Some folks decided to try their hand at Karaoke and had the stage to themselves. I liked that the TVs also had the lyrics up so that you could sing along without having to turn to face the stage. To make matters worse, the food was overpriced and similar to food court food. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I cannot recommend this restaurant. Food came out in about 10 mins from placing my order. Not bad, not great. My rating on the bbq burger. They did not ask me how I wanted it prepared, it was pretty much well done. The bun was a little hard, almost stale. There was not much bbq sauce on the bbq burger. With all the toppings, I'd give the burger 5 of 10. The hard bread took away from it for sure. I always like to try just the patty without anything on it to see how restaurants prepare their patties. It was about what I expected for a well done burger. Not much flavor, it tasted like well cooked ground round. I'd give it a 3.5. The fries were so so, I like fries more on the crispy side. These were more like thick steak fries, soft and limp. They were seasoned with salt and pepper. Not bad, not great. The beer I had... had an odd smell. It tasted ok, but I think the glass itself may have not been the cleanest. Hoping I don't get sick from a dirty glass. The bartender was nice enough to let me try their frozen Irish coffee. It was surprisingly delicious, like a boozy ice cream. It just seemed like a full glass would be too much. So I got a black and tan, which was good. If I was eating just this visit, I'd probably be between a 2-3, food was meh, and the dirty glass didn't help. If I include all my other visits I'm at 3-4, since this most recent experience I had to say I'm closer to a 3 than a 4.

Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros.
