A friend and I recently decided to visit Claude Hoppers after work for their happy hour as we'd heard good things about this neighborhood bar. We arrived around 6:30PM and there was a decent amount of people inside and only one group sitting outside. We decided to sit at the bar as we were not planning to stay too long. The bartender working was very new (it was her second day), but did her best to answer any question we had and was very friendly! We loved chit-chatting with her. We ordered a cocktail, a beer and a pretzel as someone else at the bar was saying how great their pretzels always are. The cocktail was well made and couldn't have been better! When the pretzel arrived, it was served with a side of melted cheese as well as packets of grey poupon mustard. Upon first look, the pretzel looked soft and delicious! I tore off a piece from the center (where the twist is) and was disappointed to realize the inside was still cold/ frozen. I told the server and she quickly took it back to the kitchen. Once the pretzel came back out (a new one), it was very firm and darker in color as they were clearly trying to make sure this one was not cold. Sadly... the inner twist was still cold while the outside was scolding hot. My friend and I both agreed that we wouldn't reorder the pretzel. Prices were very reasonable for this bar, the drinks were good and the staff was great. Even though the pretzel was a disappointment we would definitely come back!

My Husband and I popped in here one Sunday afternoon after a day of running errands, he needed a beer and I needed a snack! We had always seen Claude Hoppers in passing and were in the area so decided we'd give it a try. The inside is very much a sports bar (great place to catch a football game on a Sunday), while the outside gives more of a beer garden feel - lots of seating and great outdoor space. The bartender who waited on us was really kind and welcomed us in as it being out first time. My Husband ordered a Pinthouse Electric Jellyfish and I ordered the pretzel, which came with a beer cheese on the side. The pretzel was a decent size for both of us to share and was soo good! I really like how much variety they have on their menu - there is something for everyone. As for my Husband's beer, it was great and to make it even better, a 16oz for $5! Holy smokes! Great food, great prices and a cool atmosphere I'd say it's definitely worth a try!

    Empty dirty ramekin. ‍

The place is small and intimate inside with a nice open patio outside. The atmosphere and its patrons were very chill and fun. People were laughing and enjoying each others company. There aren't servers so you have to go to the bar to order food and drinks. The menu is small for food (bar food) but there was a wealth of beers on tap. Bonus: two different types of Yuengling but no Black and Tan. Texas may have to wait a while longer for that one to get here. The female bartender was a little (a lot) lost. Each time I said an item I wanted she said, "is that it?" which made me think that she wasn't taught the art up upselling yet but that's another story. I ordered food and my drink and then my husband ordered his food and drink. He offered a card and she said she "didn't think she needed that" but then put our order as to-go. ??? We went back to our table and realized that other tables had table tents so I went back and asked if I needed a number and they were like, oh yea! How about this number? And handed me a table tent. We waited about 40 minutes for wings and meatballs. The Yuengling on tap - not warm but not cold. Meh. The wine - La Crema Pinot noir. I ask the female bartender if they had Pinot Noir and she said, "oh this?" with a very confused look on her face and showed me a bottle of Chardonnay. Um, no. Anyway, our food was finally brought out. The wings had a decent flavor but they weren't hot and they were slimy and gummy. Yuck. He asked for blue cheese and he got ranch and one empty and dirty ramekin??? The meatballs were previously frozen, in my opinion, but weren't too bad. But they weren't hot either. In the middle of waiting on our food, the female bartender came up and tried to had us a very watered down drink I had noticed at the bar when ordering twenty minutes prior. She asked if we ordered this drink and when we said no, she continued to ask around to find the right person. The piece de resistance was our bill. Everything was of a normal price but my glass of wine...was TEN DOLLARS. La Crema normally sells for about 12-15 for a bottle. I get a mark up to make a profit, but dude. That's just rude. This place truly has potential but they need to step it up a notch on hot food and maybe a once around from the bartender to check on patrons and to bus some tables. I say this because a gentleman next to us very jokingly but vocally said, "pardon me while I bus my table" as he went back and forth 3 times to empty his table of empty glasses and dishes from the people at his table. On the pulse side, everyone was very cordial and had great attitudes. Over all, I give it a 6.1.

My all women's volunteer organization hosted a fund raiser trivia night at this bar. When I got there, I was worried we wouldn't have enough room or tables for the group, but we ended up being fine. It's a small place for a large group, but they were attentive and accommodating. There seemed to be a limited staff working (maybe 3?) but the service was good. Food menu is small but has some good looking options. It's not on the overhead electronic screens (drinks only) but there are laminated menus around. And pictures posted on the business' Yelp page. They also have a water cooler (like the kind you have at football games) so you can get water whenever you want. This is a fun little bar in a strip of other businesses. It may get looked over but if you are in the area, it would be a good place to check out. The fun: Lots of drink choices with a wide variety of IPAs. All 4 people at our table enjoyed what they had. The Purple Haze was a hit with another at our table. I enjoyed the Crackberry cider. It was a little more tart than I usualoy like, but I thought it was a decent cider. Also some canned and bottled beverages. Max was behind the bar for our event, and he was very friendly. He also handled our large group well. The less than ideal: The electronic menu keeps changing what is shown on the screen. There are 2 screens. There are 2 pages for the drink menu. However, the part of the menu displayed on each screen changes when the circle at the bottom fills up. It's not really enough time to read everything on one screen before it changes and you have to try to find your place again on the other screen. And some of the drink listed online aren't on the screen (specifically the 1 of 2 tap ciders I saw online). Oh, and there is only 1 women's restroom.

The eggs Benedict Trio comes with a choice of three eggs Benedict from their menu. We had the original with Canadian bacon, the green chili pulled pork and the crabcake. Everyone loved the green chili pulled pork. The Chilaquiles came with your choice of red or green salsa. I chose the green one. It was a little spicy. It came with two eggs. I thought that it was missing some cheese. It could've also used a little bit more salsa. The banana foster French toast was to die for. Very good and definitely tastes like banana foster. The croffle was a great addition to our meal. We thought it was very good. Half of us had never had a croffle and now we are in love with them. They did give us a free desserts as we were celebrating my friend's birthday. For drinks I had the elderflower spritz. It's a little on the sweet side for me. The sangria was perfect. I finally put it on this year's schedule and planned to go with a group of ten. But, as the day drew nearer, folks just started cancelling for various reasons, until we finally ended up with a party of five today. When we arrived, I was surprised at just how much of a "bar and grill" this was. I started getting nervous about the food. I know we've all been to bars that had horrible food before. Fortunately, this is not one of those bars. The food here was really good. We started with an order of fried mushrooms served with gravy and deviled eggs. I'm not a fan of fried food, but the others all seemed to enjoy them. There was a huge mound of them that all but disappeared. I opted for the deviled eggs- one of my favorite foods. These were topped with a crunchy strip of bacon and served with a pile of pickled jalapeno slices. The were super delicious! On our member's recommendation, I tried the orange chicken served with fried rice for my entree, as did two others. I was overwhelmed with the gobs of food the server sat in front of me. There were at least twenty bite-sized nuggets of chicken sitting on top of a bed of fried rice. That bed was obviously a California King! They were lightly covered in the orange sauce, but still crunchy. It was a very satisfying meal. I had the other half for supper, and it was almost as delicious heated up in the microwave. One of our people had a pepperoni pizza. It was probably about 18". The crust was amazingly thin. It just looked awesome to me. My friend enjoyed it, but carried a lot home with her. The fifth person in our group had the Reuben sandwich. She said it was delicious, but was put off by the amount of fat on the meat. Encore makes their own pastrami. The chef explained to her that the fat on the pastrami was what most people thought made it such a delicious meat. I know it looked great to me. I will most likely have that next time I visit, and there will be a next time.

I was greeted pretty soon after I took a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and asked if I wanted a food menu. As I was getting close to finishing my beer, the bartender asked if I wanted another one so I would say the bartender was attentive. I ordered one more and decided to close out. Came in with a couple of coworkers and my best mate, Tommy Tough Knuckles. If you are going to put a place like this on trial, you bring witnesses. The beer: Bud Light on tap was phenomenal. Cold, clean, exactly what you want when wings are involved. Most of the table went with micheladas, which felt like the right move at the time and honestly looked fantastic. If you are in a wings bar that knows what it is doing, you trust the michelada crowd. The appetizer: First timers get treated right here. Our server brought out the pizza roll appetizer on the house, which is essentially an egg roll stuffed with pizza goodness. Crunchy shell, molten cheese center, zero notes. A dangerous starter in the best way possible. Ten out of ten. The wings: Twenty traditional wings. Fifteen Buffalo hot, five lemon pepper. Let's be honest. When Buffalo hot comes out in Buffalo, expectations are sky high. I would not have minded a touch more heat, but the flavor absolutely carried the day. These were balanced, buttery, and deeply satisfying wings that remind you why this style became the standard. The lemon pepper deserves special praise. Too many places drown these wings in seasoning until it feels like a science experiment. Not here. Clean, even coverage, bright without overpowering the chicken. Simple, confident, executed properly. Overall wing verdict. Ten out of ten. This place knows exactly who it is. No gimmicks, no reinvention, just history backed up by execution. You come here for wings, beer, and the feeling that you are sitting inside something that actually matters. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I argue with anyone who calls this the home of the Buffalo wing? Not a chance.
