Little above decent place to gather for drinks and conversation. Bartender was attentive and nice. Happy hour 6-9 old fashioned they are not bad at all just which they use clear ice cube for better presentation but the flavors are there. The place it self is nice there's plenty of seating just don't know about the weekends. It's kind of hidden which is in a way good spirit selection is decent it's not much of big selection but they do have some good ones. Definitely want to come back!! We arrived on a Tuesday and the ambience was nice being that there was a few people I mean I like people but sometimes to much people in a somewhat speak easy place is not good I think y'all know what I mean it just was a good time for conversation and enjoying your drink especially as soon as your glass is empty the bartender ask "want another". A friend and I went to The Edison Experiment recently on a Thursday evening for the first time (around 8PM). I was surprised to see there was only a couple other people there so I did ask if they tend to get busy. The bartender explained to us that they get busier post 9PM which is when their live comedy begins on Thursday. The bar itself was casual bar with a bit of an upscale feel which was nice. I liked that it came off as a speakeasy. Truthfully, I didn't even know it was in the shopping center by my house (I moved in 1+ year ago) so it really is a hide away. The bartender, Jasmine, was very friendly and helped us pick our drink from the seasonal menu which was fun. Upon arrival, we ordered a round of our usual drink (deep eddy lime vodka w/ club soda and then also ordered "the spring forward" cocktail from their seasonal menu. The drinks were good. While they do have happy hour until 9PM on Thursday, it only included 4 drinks and made the drinks about $8 which isn't a stellar deal. All in all, this would be a cute spot I could see being good for a date night or another quiet night with friends. read more

What's not to love? Tucked away in a "strip center" among great restaurants (Blu, Eddie V's and Cover), it's the perfect after dinner drink spot to just chill until you're ready to call it a night. I came here on a date with my boyfriend because we live trying new drinks. We were not disappointed as there is a large menu with plenty of different drinks to choose from. The venue was extreme cute with nice lighting and cute decorations as well as comfortable couches for sitting. We obliged to sit at the bar and talk for a few hours and were treated very kindly by the bartenders who served us very quickly, answered all of our questions, and carefully attended to all of our needs. I met up with a friend for a quick drink... ended up staying most of the evening! First the service: our bartender was fast, friendly and attentive to us no matter how busy it got. She made great drink recommendations that tasted amazing as well! What really fit us to stay was the live music! The singer was incredible. She had such a variety of genre everyone was sure to enjoy something! She was also engaging between sets visiting one in one with the audience! I loved the ambience. My wife had wanted to go check this place out for while now ,but had heard some interesting yet disturbing rumors about this place that they like to hand you a bill let you sign the check and then when you go to check your account you'd find that they'd added an additional 30% well in our case they almost doubled it. I had a 46.00 dollar tab and gave him a 10:00 dollar tip then woke up this morning to find that we were charged 85.00 dollars. So needless to say we won't be going back to this place ever and wouldn't recommend it to anybody unless you like being ripped off, if I could give zero stars I would. Update: as of 8/16/21 my wife checked our account and they went in and tacked on an additional 10.00 dollars bringing it to 95.00$ and change. read more

I wish I could give a more accurate rating, but for now it will be 3. We didn't go out of our way to go here, but it was convenient for the time. We waited outside for 15 minutes for this place to open, since we had dinner around the way. The music was blasting T Pain and the like for the entire time, and no one came out to greet us. The doors remained locked. We were seated on the patio. I called the establishment and even checked in. Nada. It wasn't until I was on their Facebook that I saw it says it opens at 7 pm on Saturdays. The Edison Experiment is a classy speak easy with great live music and ambiance. The bartenders are attentive at the bar rail and are willing to work with you when it comes to getting your favorite cocktail. What I appreciate about The Edison Experiment is that its the type of place you'd see downtown but free parking, no extensive driving or walking to get to the location, its just in your backyard if you live on the north side. Prices, portions and drinks are all great. There is awesome vintage furniture to snuggle up on with your date as well as traditional high top bar tables if that suits your style. Their bar rail is very long so there is no shortage of grabbing a seat around the local watering whole as every time I have gone everyone is chatting it up with each other. On some nights there is live music and it is great. Not too loud and they get involved with the crowd. People dance, sing but it doesn't over power your experience so if you still want to sit in the back and chat with your friends, you won't be distracted. However it is not a 5 star experience for a couple of reasons. First, if you want to get a drink you have to go to the bar rail to grab the attention of the only 2-3 bartenders on staff. It can be daunting to compete with other patrons to grab your spot in line. No one will come and check on you or get you another round started. Second, there is no food. Which is fine in that there are plenty of places near by but sometimes you don't want to break the experience your having just to go grab some food so you either eat before or at the end of your evening. But other than these minor gripes, this place is worth experimenting with. read more

Great ambiance minus the drunk bald bartender talking about politics. I love the speak easy feel and was surprised there weren't more customers. I soon found out why. We sat at the bar and the bartender was arguing with the only other people in the spot, a couple, on their bill. That was my first red flag. Next I asked for an Irish coffee since I heard that was a specialty here with their espresso machine they keep on sight. The bartender told me he didn't know why people keep talking about this drink since their espresso machine has been broke for some time. Disappointing. The only good part was the coffee martini he recommended and lit on fire. The show was pretty decent and flavor not half bad as a substitute. But things took a turn for the worse when he said he had to cash our bill out in quarters for some reason and that his machine didn't do well with Chase cards. Not sure what he meant and the bill was confusing. He was slurring so I'm sure it had something to do with the shots he admitted to having. Something I recommend to this bartender (if you like tip $) is not bringing up politics or insulting your customers roots. Apparently he doesn't like Scottish people. I take it as a compliment though, because I definitely would not want to be related or liked by this guy. What a wee dick Jakey...as my ancestors would say LOL. read more

We had a lovely end to our date night hanging out at the Edison. They were jamming some awesome old school R&B and pop radio tunes which made the mood lively. The bar tender was superb and working all by herself but she was knocking orders fast and handled the entire room! She offered and advices drinks on the menu and off. It was time for me to try a very dirty martini for the first time and she said "let's do it". Do you love olives. Why yes , can eat them by the jar! it's now a fav an especially when I get a a little cup of olives on the side. Love this The decor is still stunningly beautiful which I recognize from prior bars that have been in this spot. The live music started at 10 and the guy was pretty good. While out and about on a typical Friday night, my friends and I were looking for something new and exciting. Which is super hard sometimes when you're trying to go bar hopping within the 1604 area. I had heard through the grapevine about this place and wanted to make it a point to check it out. Upon driving into the shopping center it took a moment to find this place as it was nicely nestled towards the back. With the ample amount of parking we were able to park right in front. As I was walking into the bar I genuinely thought I had time travelled through some secret portal and had to gather my senses back together. This is no top 40s, electronic music joint, no my sir, this was old school jazz music with an eclectic vibe. The band was amazing and really created the atmosphere for Edison Experiment (EE). As they were tucked away neatly towards a back corner, there was a makeshift dance area in-between some tables and it was cute to see some couples dancing away. Amongst the dim lighting and low lighted chandeliers, we were able to find some empty spots at the bar. My favorite place to sit in any bar to be honest. We were promptly greeted by the wait staff and told our drink orders would be taken asap. EE is all about the craft cocktails, i promise no Meghan Trainor reference, so this is the chance to try a Moscow Mule, Sazerac, or my favorite Mint Julep. The bartenders/mixologists here know their stuff so don't be afraid to be creative and send them a request. They do an awesome job and know what they're doing. The drink prices for any place that focuses on craft cocktails are average about $8-$10. They also serve a small selection of food items in case you're having "hangry" attacks. If you're wanting to change up your go-to spots then come to Edison Experiment. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

We visited this bar Friday night after dinner and were we pleasantly surprised. It's hidden in a business plaza with regular parking. It has a dim lighting with speakeasy vibe. They were having a promo event for a specific tequila brand that night. The bartenders were pretty busy so at times it was difficult to get a drink. They offer happy hour I believe till 8 pm. They have amazing drinks! I ordered their spicy margarita and it was delicious! They have a espresso/coffee maker. From the old fashioned chandeliers, artwork/photos hanging up and traditional furniture, I really enjoyed the ambience. Excellent atmosphere. They do live music on Friday nights, so if you are looking to hang out and talk, go early. There are cute couches set up with some high back chairs, so everything was nice and comfy. The drinks were excellent. I love this bar! The bartenders are always very friendly and the ambiance is hard to beat on this side of San Antonio. The bar hosts a great event every once in ah wile that is a spirits throw down. They chose a spirit theme (the most recent has been rum but they have done whiskey and mezcal before). It's a great event where you pay for a ticket and get to taste all the cocktails. I strongly recommend going any time they have it! Happy Hour is decent, fair prices on old fashioneds and some other favorites, not the cheapest i've seen, but decent. They have working women wednesday where there are some great discounts for the ladies. the reason it gets a four is because while the bartenders and staff and the ambiance are great, the menu is a little lacking. It serves well for the area, with some more basic drinks that lean towards the sweeter side and are approachable, but it's not for those seasoned drinkers. If you are wanting great new ground breaking craft cocktails, the staff is always open to try something new, but if you stick to the menu you might be disappointed. read more

Terrible experience. Edison tacks on some b.s. "house service fee" which wound up being $3 per drink. Made each drink we had come out to $17.08!!! Really? For a few old fashioned's and a Manhattan? I usually tip fat if I had a good experience but I figured that they had already tipped themselves 25-30% for each drink made so I scratched through the tip line. Then these clowns had the audacity to tack on $20 to my CC charges that I DID NOT APPROVE!! Contesting. And never again Edison. I've frequented this place over a year or so, but your approach is all wrong trying to recoup post-COVID closures. Buyer beware!!! read more
