I was unaware the Cheddars had made it to the made it to the Midwest. To me, the visit was no different than others at chain-family style restaurants. They had a lot of the menu; comfort, american, and Italian dishes. I had the spaghgna in meat sauce, which is spaghetti that is shaped as lasagna. It was good. Other people at my table had the catfish, ribs, and steak, which they enjoyed. I also enjoyed my Texas Sweet Tea but it had a lot of ice. On my second when I asked for less ice, the waiter told me that they would give me the same amount of drink and use the ice I already had....interesting. Decor is a modern wood cabin which made you feel warm and cozy. Waiter was nice, but slow on getting the food in. Heard the prices are great and that is true especially on the drinks. It was an ok visit, just not sure If I would select it again if I am in town. read more

I went to a late lunch with my parents yesterday and was highly disappointed. We were seated and about 7 minutes later two women were seated in a table next to us. They recieved their margirtas and burgers before we were asked what we wanted to drink. There were only two other tables in this HOT area and two waitresses. When we were finally helped the attitude was very unwelcoming. The chicken in the sampler appetizer was still pink. Which really made me not want to eat my chicken entree when that finally came. Which was before the salads. She brought the salads after we were in to our cold, lumpy and crunchy reheated meals. I know it was a late lunch, about 1:45 on a Saturday, but did I really deserve the rice and broccoli that has been sitting on the counter since 10:30am? Honestly, it could have been left overs from someone's dinner plate last night. That was the feeling I got from the place. If you value your health, time, pallet or money, don't eat there. I will say the curds were good and the manager took care most of the bill (we still paid for the pink chicken app because we ate the nuked potato skins and curds). Ok so it was Saturday about 1:45 pm. I talk my daughter into trying Cheddar's for a great afternoon lunch. I have had about 10 great lunches there over the last year so I am thinking Cool a good healthy -ish lunch. We get seated in a lower level way away for the normal seating area under the linear Fan. (I think it should spin faster) we get to what you can only call a Cave and where set at a little table in an area with no noticeable A/C. We set there 15 minutes for our waitress. She had be down to the table behind us 2 times prior. She takes our drink order and we order the Sampler. She leaves for a while . So it shows up the Sampler with drinks . The Chicken strips were Pink. ick. The Cheese balls were amazing as always . Well then the waitress checked again and said she would bring us refills do to the wait. The main course arrived and the Waitress said sorry the salads did not come out but she would bring them in a few. She left what can be called left overs but made from Freezer Scratch. Wow what a complete train wreck. The Manager came over after we requested he do and he takes 2 meals off but to be honest there is no way this was a one off deal. They are just struggling these days. Hadn't been here in about 15 years, because it was such a mediocre place. So, kind of excited to try again, as the company has new good ownership (Darden Restaurants). They rebranded Cheddars by adding the "Scratch Kitchen" to the name. Sadly, it did not help with the quality of the food. The menu hyped up the ribs and the chicken tenders claiming they were hand-breaded. So, I opted for the combo entrée. Both meats were barely warm. The ribs were about average, and the chicken tenders were barely edible. Like I now want to go eat chicken tenders somewhere else to get the memory of those nasty things out of my head. The vegetables that came with the entrée were cooked perfectly, and seasoned great. So...if you're a vegetarian, this place is top notch. If not, I would recommend going to BJ's, Fridays, Granite City, Olive Garden, or any of the other real restaurants right there. I will end on a positive note: the décor is beautiful, the place seemed clean, and the service was fantastic. The food is just meh. read more

They lost a star because of price. Other than that the whole dining experience was great. Cooks everywhere have the hardest time making rare steak and fall off the bone ribs but not here. The ribs were as good as I can make-which are of such high quality I will not sell them. The rare steak was cool in the center-it's supposed to be-and seasoned to perfection. I made a yelp account just to write a review on this restaurant. On Monday, March 18th around 4/5 pm my boyfriend and I went to Cheddars since we haven't been there in awhile and we found out that night there was a reasoning behind it. The food was alright but the staff was super loud in the back kitchen. Yelling, messing around, and gossiping. Felt like I was back in high school again. So once we got our check, my boyfriend paid and once he got the receipt back he was looking through the booklet and I asked him what he was looking for. He didn't know what he was looking for at first but once we left he realized that he never got his card back..... He called the restaurant multiple times to see if they found a missing debit card and Josh, the manager that night stated that he trusts his waiters & waitresses that they wouldn't steal a card. He didn't even state he was going to try to find it or anything. Some manager he is. It's been a few days since and we still haven't received any call on the card being found or any update whatsoever. Luckily my boyfriend canceled that account ASAP and went to a new bank. Do NOT go to this Cheddars if you want your card to be stolen and want loud unprofessional staff. Simple as that. read more

Took my wife, mom, and a brother and sister in for a meal. Had never seen steak here and decided to try it. The 20 oz. bone in rib eye came out and was looking a little thin. Started to cut into it and its a little tough. The seasoning was weak and didn't have much flavor. Ate about 1/3 of the steak and that was all I could chew. Waitress offered to cook another or one without a bone. I opted for the 12 oz. rib eye. It was better but still nothing to write home about. Both steaks looked a little thin for the advertised weight. I am a steak guy so I am a decent judge of what size I should get for the weight and both of these were off a little, in my opinion. When we ordered drinks (frozen margaritas) at this restaurant it took forever,not to mention waitress didn't even offered water. When we finally got our drinks one of them was on the rocks not frozen, when I've asked the other waitress to please fix my drink she told me that this way is better in her opinion (I felt that it was a lot to ask and it's too much trouble) when my food finally arrive my stake was raw not well done. Cheddar's has slipped. We were just there for a Sunday evening dinner and it was apparent as soon as we got to our table. The table still had bits of food on it which the host brushed off. Pulling out the chairs we found food particles on them as well. Picking up the drinks menu and found rice beneath it. The server came and informed us they were out of lemons so none could be offered for drinks (although we later saw many iced teas served with lemons). Food was ordered and they were also out of cole slaw and sweet potatoes. Salads came and croutons were stale. Entrees were delivered shortly thereafter, before we could barely begin the salads. Dishes were not cleared from the table. It took a very long time to receive our check and then the waiter disappeared for an inordinately long time with my credit card. My first time here so the jury is out until I get my meal but it looks impressive. OK got my meal. This was the Chicken fried Steak and boy was it good. We are talking made fresh breaded here with fresh white gravy and mashed potatoes. Complimented by Sweet baby carrots that melted in my mouth. My wife had The chicken strips. These strips were twice the size of any strips anywhere! Succulent and breaded fresh on the spot. You can tell fresh from frozen because the batter was crisp and crunchy fresh. I am definitely going back for more on the menu. The Sweet Tea was excellent! The service was great and courteous from the greeting to the departure. sincere and very informative wait staff and this was during a busy lunch on an early Saturday afternoon. Now i may have come in at the peak of an excellent wait staff on a summer afternoon. I will have to check this place out in the dead of winter and see how attitudes are affected. Looking at past Reviews i have to think Winter may have been a factor of opinion with cabin fever and all along with post Christmas stress? lol All said and done on this given day i could find no negative factors during my visit. The staff had no suggestions although there were things on the menu that were veggie friendly. They seemed clueless and misguided. The managers suggestions were awful. This is literally the WORST restaurant I have ever been to! Do not waste your money or your time coming here. I have never been one to review a restaurant but Cheddars is absolutely awful- no matter the location. This time I was asking the hostesses (who were extremely rude) what their wait was and if we could leave a number instead of getting a pager because of the wait and also because their small lobby. I completely understand not being able to do that of course, it's restaurantI policy. But the host was very rude when replying. She was extremely demeaning and conceding and replied "where are you going? No way we can do that! What do you expect, special treatment?" I mean c'mon. I decided to wait but then our rolls were cold and when we were finally served after sitting without drinks for nearly 10 mins the server was very unnattentive. Never going back! read more

This was my first visit to Cheddar's. My daughter is on spring break so we decided to try it for lunch. It appears to be a nice place but the floors were really dirty with food particles and straw wrappers. The wait staff was friendly and courteous and got our drinks out quickly. We did have to wait a fair bit for our food, but we figured they were making it from scratch... it will be worth it, right. I ordered the New Orleans Pasta with a side salad w/blue cheese dressing. My daughter ordered Chicken strip and shrimp dinner with green beans and French fries. We got the New Orleans with no salad and a chicken tenders meal with the sides. The waitress brought out stuff for two tables and dropped our meal and went to the table next to us. We decided to eat what we received and not to complain about it, just make sure the bill reflected what we received. The chicken tenders were moist and the breading was nice, a little plain but pretty good with the dip. The sides were fine, my daughter didn't really care for the green beans but I didn't mind them and ate them. The New Orleans failed on so many levels... the sauce had good flavor and the pasta was cook right. The sausage was like bologna instead of andouille. it was soft and flavorless. The shrimp were extremely over seasoned and tiny. The worst was the chicken... it tasted like crock pot chicken that had been overcooked. There is no way that chicken was made fresh to order. The peppers and onion were dead too, like this had been slow cooking forever. It's too bad, the menu description really does a great job of selling this item, it's to bad the kitchen can't produce it. I went home and looked up the website, Cheddar's has a blog where it describes certain menu items and the New Orleans is one of them... epic fail. Such an easy fix to sauté ingredients while pasta is boiling, combine and serve, this would be an outstanding menu item. I question how much is made from scratch in this kitchen. read more

The only positive thing I can say about this place is the drinks are phenomenal. When we were seated at our table, there was no silverware. Okay no big deal. It takes them forever to get our food out (about an hour or so). We still had no silverware. They gave us plastic packs claiming their silverware was "all used and being cleaned." The food was bland. Giving this a one simply for the carry out service. Strongly recommend to NOT order a carryout and instead just dine in. When we placed our order over the phone, we were told 20 mins. So we arrived to the restaurant 20 mins later, and we had to wait for our food for about 10 mins. No biggie. After we drove home (about a 10 min drive) we started eating and it was horrible! My order, the chicken Alfredo, had NO alfredo sauce! The chicken was cold and the veggies were not cooked. My husband ordered the chicken tenders and those were cold as well and the French fries were wet and cold. How could this food be like that if it barely had anytime to sit. The steak was actually one of the best I've had: supberbly tender and well seasoned even though a litte overcooked. I normally try and stay away from (and review) chains but we were in the area and decided to stop by for dinner. We ate here a few years ago and I remember thinking it was mediocre but I thought tonight was better. I had the pecan chicken salad with blue cheese which was quite good. I was happy there was more than just iceberg lettuce. My husband had a steak which he enjoyed. Decor was nice, had a cabin feel. Unlike most chains and 'American' restaurants there isn't a ton of stuff on the walls which is a nice change of pace. Service was good, overall we had a good experience and will most likely come back. I do agree with a previous review that there isn't much for vegetarians. read more

We typically enjoy Cheddar's. It's one of the few places on our "going out" list of restaurants. We have not been out in many months and chose to break out of the post-holiday rut to eat in there. The food was to be expected - we love their chicken tender platter, it's hands-down incredible every time. However, our booth had been completely overlooked when cleaning after the last guest. I was a hostess many years ago, and trust me when I say the measly pay is nothing to write home about, but there is true value in training restaurant employees to keep the facility clean, and this is true whether in a pandemic or not. I found it completely uncomfortable to sit in a booth with the former patron's food and menus littering the floor below us and stuck in the crevice of the booth. This also includes the sticky table top and little computer thing on the table. All that said, service and food were good. If the restaurant actually reads these reviews, please pay closer attention to cleaning the areas where patrons eat their food, it's greatly appreciated! read more
