Arrived around 1:30pm on a Monday. Place looked clean. It was slightly busy. My friend and I seated ourselves at the bar and were given menus. Our drink orders were promptly taken. We needed a few minutes to look over the menu. A few minutes later my friend ordered the Brisket lunch special with the Potato Casserole for the side. I ordered the 5 piece wings lunch special with a side of Apple Pie Baked Beans. The wait was not long at all! Not even 5 minutes. My wings and baked beans were on par. I ordered original BBQ sauce, but tried one with a little hot on it. It was tasty. Might try them all hot next time. I had to go because of the name. Plus it was right on my route. Corporate barbecue. Sigh. The rib dinner was four bones and a couple sides, I couldn't spring for that. I got a lunch special which was still pretty expensive for a brisket sandwich and one side. The brisket was OK. A little smoke, overwhelming flavor of cumin maybe, tender enough, needed sauce. The original sauce is a decent standard. The tangy is super thin, vinegary, not tangy, not flavorful. The spicy has a hint of spice in the back, and not much else going on. Apple pie baked beans are bland, and slightly sweet, and soupy. Not my style. Lipton sweet tea from a machine. The music is the blues and Stevie Nicks? Service was good. Pass. read more

It's the exact same as the one on Maplecrest - Chill atmosphere, cool look, and very clean feel. The service was great (it always is) and fast... We had our food within 10 minutes of ordering. The food was yet again ridiculously good (the BBQ is awesome, no doubt about it), but for the love of God and Baby Jesus, it's expensive... $35 w/ tip for lunch. We ordered the Holiday Bundle for Thanksgiving with the smoked turkey, mac n cheese, corn spoon bread, mashed potatoes and gravy, and rolls & butter. We were a bit worried the turkey would be dry. It was not! We were very happy with all of the food and would order this again. The 20 somethings loved the mac n cheese and the older crowd commented on pretty much everything else. So happy to leave a review for a location that is most welcome! The inside will be the ideal location for group gatherings and social functions. The inside is spacious and the staff is attentive and friendly. The ordering station is situated right by the door for expedited ordering. The menus are large for easy reading and take away menus are available at check out. Mad Anthony is served in the bar with the wall of Mugs. Seating also available in the bar and at the bar top. The outdoor space has great potential with ample seating. The sidewalk along Illinois/14 allows walking access for the surrounding neighborhoods. We're happy to welcome you! read more

My husband got the wings, which were tough, but the sauces were good. I got the Mac and cheese, which was just okay. The garlic bread that came with it was basically what you find in the frozen section at the supermarket. The best thing we got was a basket of fries, which were hot and well-seasoned. This review gets two stars because everything I ordered was delivered (doordashed) and for once the spoon bread was moist, piping hot and delicious which is unusual as it's often dried out or like they scraped the bottom of the pan. I don't know why, but every year or so I give this place another chance but I think this will be the last time. I got the rib and 1 meat dinner, opted for the pulled pork. The ribs had very little meat and was dried out to the point of being inedible. The pork was weirdly clumped (smooshed) together and dried out. Not even the bbq sauce could save it. Delicious... Likely a great location for the surrounding neighborhoods! Likely a good thing for my health that I don't live close-by (Indianapolis). Beverages - normal soda and a bunch of locally (i assume) beers. You're not going to find a bunch of beers you know here as it looks like they are brewed by a sister company or partner. I ended up doing a flight with a variety of beers... nothing bad. They have a smoked porter, very yummy, great aroma!! BBQ - yeeeeppppppp, burnt ends were great. Brisket - was cooked pretty dang good. The only thing holding this from a 5 star review is the brisket. It was good.. wouldn't turn it down any day of the week. BUT it was a touch dry and sliced way too thin (IMO). We ate around 230p, so certainly not primetime... brisket is likely time cooked to be perfect around their rush, which 230pm is not. I'd also like a little bit more bark on the brisket. Again... very good, just critiquing as great brisket is great brisket for a reason. If I could get brisket like Shig's in Pit on my smoker, I'd more thrilled than well a Shig in Pit...this is a family site. Finally... their chocolate chip cookies, OMG. My husband and I both got the pulled pork sandwich with fries, and added a side of Mac n cheese and jalapeño poppers (which were on special today!) Everything was delicious! First came to Shigs on Fairfield about 10 years ago. The BBQ was excellent. The pulled pork, brisket, ribs and sides were, without question, some of the best I'd eaten. Recommended to relatives who lived in Fort Wayne who were equally impressed. As time passed and Shigs expanded to three locations, my relatives informed us that quality had suffered. Finding that hard to believe, and living out of state, we returned to find the food had indeed suffered severely. We recently went to Shigs Illinois. Although it was late in the afternoon on a Tuesday, we were the only couple in the dining room, although there were a half dozen or so in the bar area. The jalapeño poppers were ok although the bacon was overdone, the pulled pork was anything but pulled, more like run through a food processor. In addition, the pork was overseasoned. It appeared that it had been spiced while smoking and respiced after shredding. Pulled chicken sandwich was bland and the sides were dry and lacked the flavor we were used to. It pains us to say it, but the quality is nowhere near where it had been. Finally, no one bothered to check to see if we were satisfied with the meal. And, it was not because they were busy. We have ordered out from Shig's in Pit multiple times, but this is our first time eating in the outdoor patio area. It's very clean and family friendly. Also dog friendly in the patio area - multiple people had dogs hanging out at their tables outside. You order at the front walking in then they bring your food to you at the table. There is a bar in the back of the restaurant you can order beer from Mad Anthony brewing at, which is really nice next to the patio. Today we ordered the sliced brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich with two sides - green chili Mac and cheese and southern green beans (both pints). Plenty of food for two people and it was all great. Our favorite bbq sauce is the hot one. read more

I have been to some awesome barbecue joints, and this one is right up there with the best of them. It has a has a huge parking lot, a nice outdoor patio, and a bar area. They are open for dine in and carry out. The restaurant is very clean and has space for days. They have TV around the bar and restaurant. I got the burnt end brisket sandwich with spoon cornbread and beans. You place your order at the counter before you take a seat, if you are dining in. It was all delicious. Very delicious. Some of the best Q that I have had. The staff there is very friendly. They have a full bar, a wide selection of beer, the usual barbecue foods, and deserts. This place was pretty busy while I was there, but that is just a testament to the restaurant's friendly staff and awesomely delicious food. If you are looking for some good Q, I highly recommend checking this place out. It is well worth the trip. I may even be a crime if you are in the Fort Wayne area and don't stop by here. I've been eating at the downtown Shigs in Pit for many years and was so excited when this southwest location opened up. However, every time I've visited this location, I've been terribly disappointed. They are NOT the same as the other location. We've tried 3 times and now know it's not a "fluke". The food is bad, like really really bad. Our meats are loaded with big fat pieces and gristle. Today we tried the Turkey breast. It was so gross. It tasted like old deli meat that had been boiled. A rep at work bought this for us at work and it was so good I bought it for the family to go the following week. Picking up order, I was instantly greeted and assisted. There are three different barbecue sauces that you can choose from. I got their original Barbara Q sauce in there tangy barbecue sauce. They provided me with all the utensils needed and was very pleasant. At home I opened up the containers that had the meat and they were wrapped up to keep the heat in and keep it moist. That was pretty impressive. The pulled pork and prime rib was nice and moist and delicious. However, ribs were just ok. They fell off the bone but were a little dry. Mac n cheese was good but it has some spiciness to it due to add hot peppers (something to think about if ordering for kids). Pickle salad was good and spicy. Now when it came to the baked beans they were excellent! I'm not a baked beans kind a girl but I couldn't start going back to get more and some more pulled pork. Those barbecue sauces were great. I wish the Tangy was a little bit thicker though. All in all, great place to ordered food. This place seems great for all. I won't be coming back here. I ordered carryout. The pulled pork dinner platter is so small, I couldn't believe it. This is more like a lunch portion and should be $6.99 at most. Not $11.99. I've been to bbq places all over the country, so my comparison is realistic. It's obvious the #1 goal of this place is maximum profitability, because the tiny portions of meat are a reflection of their business model. Although we're well-acquainted with Shigs' ribs, pulled pork, smoked turkey breast, and even their smoked bologna w/pimento cheese sandwich, this was our first go-around with the wings. Now this is not the kind of place you just walk into and order wings. Some serious thought is essential in your decision. All S.I.P.'s wings are dry rubbed, slow smoked, and then flash fried, giving these jumbo gems crisp skins and very tender meat. Patrons have the difficult task of deciding on which flavors will please their palates. You can choose dry rub only or add House BBQ, Hot BBQ, Spicy Buffalo, Alabama White, Carolina Mustard, Teriyaki, or Korean BBQ sauce. The Hot BBQ and the Spicy Buffalo are authentically as we know them be be with the exception of the pleasant tingle of heat left on the tongue. The Carolina Mustard is the best version of this sauce I've had as it complimented the chicken nicely. The Korean BBQ has a more complex blend of flavors. A hint of garlic greets the nose first. Next comes the prominent taste of ginger followed by a discernable sweet soy finish. Sorting out this wing is almost akin to tasting a wine you've never tried before. If you enjoy smoked meats and you enjoy trying different sauces on anything you choose to order, Shigs In Pit will not disappoint. FYI: Pepsi products and Mad Anthony's craft beers are available.
