Catablu Grille is one of those restaurants that leaves me wondering why I waited so long to give it a try. Every aspect of this experience was fantastic: Food: Every course blew our minds. The tuna poke and feta whip appetizers were unbelievable, and my 14oz dry aged ribeye was cooked to perfection. The presentation at the table was equally impressive. Ambience: The dim lighting and artistic wall coverings give the place a classy feel. Noise levels were good, considering that the restaurant was packed by 6:30pm on a Thursday. Weekday dinner, pretty busy inside and out. First time in Fort Wayne and had no expectation of catablu. I opted for the hot garlic fried walleye. I've never had walleye as I live in the west coast and don't eat much fresh water fish. Fish was perfectly cooked, tender flaky and light. The dish was garlicky with a nice sauce at the bottom. This was not our first time and one issue we had was that my wife requested a table inside and we were seated in the outside area. There was no consideration given to this request when we checked in and were standing there when the table was selected. We were greeted right away, a drink order taken and water poured. This was the last time water was offered , no refills even when almost empty. It took a while for the drinks to come but the pours were generous. Our orders were taken and we noticed our Waitress had a large table she was dealing with. The app was delivered by Not Our Waitress. Our orders were delivered after a considerable time by Not Our Waitress. My wife's MR Filet was MW. Much later our Waitress showed up to ask us how things were ... after my daughter and I were almost done with our meals so my wife chose not to send it back. A manager came by at that point and comp'd her meal which was the right thing to do but his attitude was oddly not very apologetic. He said 'I get it that you don't want to wait for another steak so I will comp that for you'. It was almost like it was our fault. Frankly, the only reasons a medium rare steak gets to medium well is if a terrible mistake is made by the Chef, someone takes the wrong plate or a plate sits too long. This should not have happened and the staff should have bad could have corrected it. After this my daughter and I had our leftovers boxed. Our waitress promptly brought our bill without asking if we wanted dessert. NOTE: WE WERE CELEBRATING OUR DAUGHTERS BIRTHDAY!! We were never asked if we were celebrating a special occasion! We were never asked if we wanted more drinks. We weren't even offered refills on water. And to top it off the cheap cardboard box with my daughter's leftovers were in leaked all over her leather purse and her nice, new dress! Failures on multiple levels ..... There are too many places in town that have great menus and provide excellent service. Find one and go there. Fortunately, Debrands was on the way home so we stopped for Ice Cream Sundaes where we received excellent service from an extremely pleasant and appreciative high schooler. read more

We cane to Catablu from the recommendation of my cousin who lives just outside of Ft. Wayne. It did not disappoint! Walking into the space transports you to a big city vibe, chic, modern, yet classic. The staff seamlessly assembled as they greeted us, walked us to our table, and continued waiting on us through the evening. The proprietor walked around the room, greeting guests like family as we simply people watched in waiting for our food. We ordered the lobster bites for appetizer, shared the 14 oz. Dry aged ribeye for dinner, then got the apple tart at the recommendation of our server for dessert. All of it was amazing and top notch. This ranks very high of best dinning experiences in Ft. Shared the lemon feta w/pita triangles (our friend's fav and she just loved it) and the lobster bites (4 delicious bites). Both apps delectable! It's so easy to forget about Catablu, tucked away in the strip mall next to planet fitness, but the service, food, and ambiance are always top notch. I want to start by saying, I love Catablu! My husband and I eat at the restaurant and get take out about once a week. However, they took Chicken Piccata off the menu and replaced it with Chicken Marsala. Unfortunately, the Chicken Marsala was not good. Hoping they put the Picatta back on the menu. Love their rotating sliders this summer. Would also love if they brought back the Thai Beef Lettuce Wraps. When they had them, we loved them! Went to Catablu on may 2nd for our 5 year anniversary at 5 pm and had an excellent experience. Megan was our server and she did a perfect job. The food was delicious and I will definitely be returning. We went all out with drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts and were pleasantly surprised by the bill. I must make an additional comment though. I have been in the industry for over 20 years, and whoever the general manager is was on point. Tried this restaurant for the first time off of multiple recommendations. I would recommend making a reservation as we went on a Friday night at 8pm and the restaurant was full. To start, we ordered drinks from the bar the Brussels sprout appetizer. My only complaint of the evening (which is minor) would be that our appetizer came out in about 2 minutes before we even received our drinks from the bar. They were crispy and cooked perfectly. We ordered the filet and the salmon. Both were cooked perfectly and we would order them again. Definitely recommend this spot if you are looking for a new date night spot. read more

I made reservations on Yelp to this restaurant. It is very simple to do and they text or email you to confirm the reservation. I would recommend making a reservation. We went on a week night and it was packed. For our starters, we shared the fried calamari. It was good, and was served with two dipping sauces. The Catablu Grille serves bread with butter and a dip with olives in it. My husband was a big fan of the dip. For our entrees, I ordered the Bison burger and it is served with a side of fries. The fries were cut extremely small,but were tasty. I ordered the Bison burger well done and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. My husband ordered the 140z. Black and Blue Dry Eyed Rib Eye. This is served with small onion rings on top and roasted potatoes. He enjoyed it very much and it was cooked just right. I ordered two martinis: the raspberry truffle and the blueberry lemon drop. The raspberry truffle was more of just a chocolate martini, as I could tell no hint of raspberry. It did have a cherry at the bottom. The blueberry lemon was my favorite out of the two. Very yummy! They also serve water and leave a pitcher on the table for you to refill your drinks. They do have some type of special which is different depending on the day you go. The special for that day was 20% off bottle wine. (just the bottle not an individual glass). For dessert, we had a lava cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cake has white powered sugar on it and has chocolate inside. It is served warm and the ice cream tasted great. Overall, this is a great gem in Fort Wayne and is a wonderful place for groups or a date night. The servers were polite, quick and knowledgeable. This is a must try! read more

It was our anniversary so we decided to revisit one of our favorite places. Often we find that we build up places in our head only to be disappointed - THIS VISIT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. This was the place we went on our first "date" after we had children. The meal then was spectacular as was the service. This time just added to our love for this restaurant and hope it's around for many years to come. This evening we started with the rice fried firecracker shrimp. I'm not a seafood person, but these were delectable enough to make a meal out of if I had more! For our main course we both got steak; mine - the herb marinated grilled beef filet mignon - was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My husband's dry aged black and bleu steak was a little overdone and when he offered a critique to the manager on duty he was very apologetic. First he offered to redo it and when my husband said 'no, it's OK', he then offered us dessert on the house. Wow! In addition to the attentiveness of the server and the manager I appreciated that they made us feel at ease - they conversed with us a little so we felt like welcome guests rather than a mere obligation. They didn't talk too long either; nicely done! My husband's old fashioned was quite delicious. I ordered a mango margarita. It tasted good, but lacked a bit of tartness for my taste. Next time I'll either order a bourbon based drink or a regular margarita. The desserts we ordered were on point. I got the key lime pie - tart, sweet, creamy, delicious. My husband ordered the seasonal sorbet which turned out to be raspberry. The portion was very generous and the texture and flavor were just what we expected and more. read more

I was in Fort Wayne on business and wanted a good glass of wine. I found Catablu Grille on Yelp and highly recommend this place! I sat at the bar, met the bartender Mary and the owner. Both of which are great. There were several locals sitting at the bar and since I'm not from here, they gave me a few other restaurants and spots to eat at in the area. Everything on the menu not only sounded but looked amazing. I chose the Caesar salad and added grilled salmon. Perfect portion! I also decided on a portion of truffle fries which were AMAZING! Overall, the wine selection was huge, great bourbons, delicious food and the entire place was decorated for Christmas. Absolutely beautiful!
