Come on cheddars you can do better. I've been here before, and I found that the food was cooked well but this most recent time it was quite disappointing. The free croissants that you get at the beginning of the meal were not cooked through literally when you bit into them, it was like the dough inside had not experienced any heat. I wish I took a picture of that. My ribeye was cooked perfectly, which is always a plus and at that price point it's a steel. My wife who had another entrée unfortunately had steamed broccoli and somehow the broccoli was completely raw and not cooked. I don't know how that oversight could happen if it's supposed to be steamed broccoli. Service was good and attentive. They did come and refill your water. Overall, it's very hard for me to give them a two star, but I wish that they were better. Some of those mistakes could result in food poisoning. Luckily, nothing bad happened with a consumption of undercooked croissant. read more

Came in today (Sunday, June 8th, 2025) at 5pm. Hostess said it would be 5 to 10 minutes. We gave her our name and phone number. 5 minutes in, we checked our phone and never got a notification saying that we were on the waitlist, so we went to the hostess to check if our name and number were in there correctly. She said it was there and we asked her to grab us in case the text won't notify us, and we were sitting on the bench inside near her. Fast forward to 5:20pm, we see a group walk in and get instantly seated. I check the app waitlist and it said no waiting. There's another couple that complained that they were forgotten too, and I told her we never got a notification too. Hostess said she notified them, and they said they never got a notification. Then she told them she could seat them. So ok, you should go sit us next right? Instead, she sits another group of people that came after us. Horrible hostess. We left. Honestly, I went into the experience a little tainted by the Yelp. I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to reviews, and will stay away from places that aren't in that 4-5 star range (I'm trying to be better I promise!) But Cheddar's blew my expectations out of the water. I think a lot of that had to do with our awesome server, a chill dude with glasses that kept bringing us those scrumptious croissants as soon as we'd dust off our plate, and never let our drinks sit empty. He even gave me a cup of jam from the kitchen that he recommended go with those honey butter beauties - and my taste buds were in ecstasy with that combo. And the food was top notch! The Sirloin Steak and Ribs were cooked nicely and the broccoli cheese casserole and mashed potatoes made the perfect and tasty sides for them. The painkiller was pretty light on the alcohol, but eh, can't win em all. We had a nice booth in the corner so I can't speak to the vibes in the middle of everything but those swinging fans are sick as hell either way. I like the cozy atmosphere though, all wooden everywhere made it feel like a warm cabin on a cold day. And those croissants are honestly giving texas roadhouse a run for their money. I came to Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen because last year we got some gift cards gifted to us from this restaurant. We decided to finally try it, hoping it was good. Overall, it was not. There were certainly some good/great points to our experience at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, but the negatives outweighed the positives. Lets start with one of the biggest negatives, the service. I am not sure of our waiter was new, but the service definitely lacked. For instance, my mother specifically asked that on her baked potato soup for it be plain, it came with bacon and cheese. My mother asked for her grilled chicken alfredo not to have broccoli, it came with brocolli. My brother had to wait over 10-15 minutes more after we got our food to get his bacon cheeseburger. We do not know if the kitchen or waiter messed up there, but its bad when one person on the table has to watch the rest eat, waiting for his food. The food was a mixed bag. We got an appetizer to start off, which was the Cheddar's Sampler trio. It came with chicken tenders, queso dip and artichoke dip. The chicken tenders were delicious. The queso dip and artichoke dip were terrible, some of the worst we have ever had. My mom did not like her main course. My brother though his burger was mediocre. I did love my Texas t-bone steak. The star of the meal, oddly enough, were the honey butter croissants. As good as the croissants were, it should not be the only thing some members at the table say was the only thing they enjoyed about their meal. Not sure if we will come back. read more

If the menu would've said the whitefish was actually Swai fish I wouldn't have ordered it. It's a terrible fish to eat. It comes from the Mekong River in Viet Nam might as well be raised in sewage. I didn't eat it and they didn't offer any thing off the dinner. Probably won't be back. read more

My dad wanted to go here for his birthday, so I called to make a reservation--we were a group of 8. I was informed by the person who answered the phone that they don't take reservations...even for large groups. She told me to come to the restaurant about 45 minutes before we wanted to have dinner. As a former server, this is so silly! Staff want to know to prepare for large parties so they can keep things in balance. Our server was brand new and clearly overwhelmed the whole time (nice, but just green and unprepared). Half of our meal took twice as long as everything else (how difficult is steamed broccoli?) and there was no courtesy stop by a manager. Would not recommend. read more

Out of all the restaurants I visited here on vacation from Arizona, this was hands down the best. The food was fresh and very delicious. After all that the waitress was the best I ever had. It was like getting served by a family member. What I will always remember is her million dollar smile. I worked in Customer service in the hotel industry and was awarded employee of the year several times but her customer service greatly surpassed mine. I hadn't been to a cheddar's before, and came here on a whim after an activity downtown- it was a good place to stop for a quick lunch. They had some great options where you could kind of Frankenstein a lunch with different components together for a low price (although the portions are definitely more dinner like). The butter croissants are admittedly a weird choice for a free bread appetizer, but unarguably tasty. I had the chicken sandwich and a side salad- The chicken was nice and crispy. My wife and I stopped in for a meal. Service was good. Food, not so much. I ordered the meatloaf. The menu said it was BACK. To put an item on the menu again made me think it must have been popular. I ordered the southern green beans and baby carrots. The carrots were good. They were the only thing I finished. The meatloaf was not awful but it was pretty bland and boring. The green beans had a really bad taste. Almost like a chemical flavor. We have eaten here before and the food was pretty good. Great place to visit while in the area! Jalen was my waiter and he was very attentive and always made sure I had refills/taken care of. I got the baked potato soup and it was hot and very tasty as well the homemade queso and chips. Best side option was broccoli , as the fries, corn off the cob were like cafeteria food. The baby carrots were marinating in brown sugar. Needless to say I sent back well they made me wait another 15 minutes and came back up with another burger. Went here with my girlfriend. We got the spinach dip, she got the sirloin with corn and steamed broccoli, and I got the original burger with fries. Overall, the quality of the food was on par with Applebee's. I'd say it's a tad better, but mainly due to the service and atmosphere. Our server, Brooke P, was very friendly and attentive, despite being the bartender with a full bar. Even with a full bar, she made sure to consistently check in with us and refill our drinks. Came to Cheddar's in Fort Wayne on Sunday. Met by MANAGER and when asked for a table for FIVE he said they "didn't have any. You must be the after church crowd and you'll have to wait an hour to an hour and a half." Next customer came in and saying they were his friends (group of FIVE) directed the waiter to take them to a table. Have always had great service by the waiters and good food but apparently this manager plays favorites. Needless to say our group left, went next door to Olive Garden, where we were greeted and seated immediately by friendly staff. It's been a couple of years since we've been here, because of the quality of food and service. We came on 3-21. The wait was horrible. The food worse. The ribs were tasteless. Lots of grizzle. It took 1/2 for our drinks. 45 minutes for our food which mostly left uneaten because of the flavor. We waited for a hot fudge cake sundae. We waited 1/2 for this. Seriously, it came out with completely melted. Completely!!! My husband complained about it to the waiter, and he literally said, "nah, it's just flat ice cream!!!!" Seriously!!! I'm from Findlay, Ohio. Back home we have a Cheddar's and it's not the best at all. This week my family, and I are staying in Fort Wayne due to poor circumstances. And the staff was amazing. My sister joined me for a snack and a drink, and this was her first time at Cheddar's. She and I were literally welcomed with Love, smiles, and compassion. And all I want to say is Kevin (the manager) and Brittany (I think was her name, a bartender) are amazing people and deserve more credit than ever. Thank you guys for a great time. We were interested in having fish to start with, until we heard what was being served was Swai... which is a highly toxic, farm raised fish. So we both chose the ribeye which seemed to be of very low quality, with a lot of waste and unfortunately neither were cooked to our order. A loaded baked potato consists of cheese and sour cream only? Over all, it seemed like a lot of money for less than mediocre food. If it wasn't for the spinach dip being decent, this meal would have been a total bust!
