Why it's 5 stars? Because the first time I visited this place I felt stoned, and I hadn't smoked weed in years! This place has a campy decor and menu, all the names are weed innuendos. But dang it if you don't love this munchie food so dang much! My own sweet husband who has never sparked in his life loves this place and gets the sticky icky to go every time. It's a PBJ on a French roll that is so yummy, he eats it for dessert later. My favorite is the Kali Mist or the White Widow. The Nachos are so dang good it's like being high when you eat them. This might be my favorite sandwich spot in Eugene. Cheba Hut is a chain with a handful of locations in the Western US, but this location, the only one in Oregon, feels like it's one of a kind. It's perfectly situated between downtown and the campus. The menu has plenty of great options, but the Kali Mist has become my go to (pictured). On the real side, I only wanted to come because they had an interesting mural of Stoner Yoshi... The sandwich took a while to make. No biggie, I'll just wait. The décor is very "interesting" to say the least. I guess it's a cool spot to hang? Long story short, my sandwich was meh. No taste and bland. Very poor ingredients. I have been here 5 times, and 4 of those times my sandwich was lazy prepared (missing vegetables, I substitute parm for cheddar and they continue to put on cheddar. From my sandwich I was missing black olives , jalepano, banana pepper, the cheese! I said no pickle there was pickle. I called to let them know this was their 4th time completely ignoring and being lazy to my request. The manager just laughs and said Ok bro. The manager was Micheal S. He let us know the most popular sandwiches. He gave us his suggestion while reminding us that everything is custom. I was a bit overwhelmed because I've never been; however, he was patient and gave me time to make a decision. I got the BBQ chicken. I can't believe it took me so long to go here after I had it bookmarked for so long. I guess that will teach me a lesson in procrastination. I really liked the atmosphere when walking in, as I am sure most Eugenians do, with all of the marajauna references. The people, and employees are pretty chill, and very helpful especially for a first timer not knowing what bread goes well with what sandwich. I was pretty hangry at this point and the sizes run nug, which is small, pinner, which is medium, and blunt which is large so I ordered the pinner while normally I would have gotten a nug. I chose the thai stick with the garlic bread, and it did not disappoint. My guy got the Jamaica red which he has been here before so he knew he loved this one. We also got one of the munchies to munch on and it was delicious. I read one of the signs that said they make the sauces in house daily, and cut everything up fresh daily. I also love the fact that they have 2 flavors of kool aid on tap. I was taken back to kid heaven! Wow!!! You bet I got that grape drank!! The only down fall for me is I don't eat bread much, which is a bummer because their bread is so yummy!! But I see that they do have salads on their menu. I wish they had lettuce wrap sandwiches. Whut Whut in the Cheba Hut?! I hate that I love this place. Parking is terrible- you either have to park across the street at a meter (if you can find one available), in the back where they are narrow and scarce (goodbye, paint job!), or in the pay-lot next door (extortion!) The interior is run down and sketch. There are literally chunks taken out of the floor. How does that even happen? Ceiling tiles are discolored, the lighting is nil, the women's bathroom is clean, but looks like something out of Saw. Neighbors are a pub or Dutch Bros., and Cheba Hut appears to be open quite late. The decor is, naturally, marijuana-themed, and clientele when I've visited is the group of frat boys you'd expect. Not that this is a bad thing in itself, but the language and conversation topics overheard are not for the faint of heart. In short, this is not a "family" place. I also had a hard time explaining some of the cartoons to my bug-eyed 10-year old. (They have cartoon characters graphically boning on a plaque that reads "PORN" over the door to the kitchen.) The music volume can get out of control, too, depending on the staffs' moods, and music selection ranges from reggae to metal. I'm thankful they have delivery because their sandwiches are so damn good! The customer service here seriously cannot be beat. Every person I've dealt with has been bubbly, helpful, energetic and someone I would gladly trust with my food. Ohh.. and the food! Veggies are cold, crisp and fresh!! Tomatoes in winter are obviously hothouse, and they make no pretense of ordering organic, but sprouts, people- SPROUTS! And REAL avocado- not fakie avocado-flavored-mash. I usually get the White Widow, which is basically a chicken, bacon, ranch delicious mess. I'm not especially happy that they marinate the chicken in chili. Depending on the day, it can be too spicy to eat and there are no alternatives- if you get something with chicken, it's going to be marinated like this, which is not advertised. My husband digs the Pakalolo- ham, pineapple, cheese. SO GOOD! Cheba Hut offers house-made treats such as Rice Krispy bars, Goo balls, and an assortment of cookies, which they will even heat up for you. it's a pity the food is so good. Cheba! You make me laugh with your cannabis related advertising and you fill me up with your delicious "blunt" sized sandwiches. At first when I walked by I thought this place was a dispensary but with a second look I realized it was a sandwich shop with a cannabis theme! You can order sandwiches with names like "Silver Haze" and "White Widow". You can also order them in sizes like "nug", "pinner" and "blunt" which definitely makes for a funny ordering experience. The employees are super helpful and answer all your questions about their delicious menu with meat and veggie options. I appreciate how they don't skip on the veggies and the bread tastes freshly baked...no pun intended. If you really have the munchies you could probably take down the "blunt" size sandwich alone but I always share it with someone and a bag of chips and feel totally satisfied. I had a coupon for a free brownie and was really disappointed. They put Cinnamon Toast Crunch on top but after sitting on the counter in plastic wrap it became a soggy topping to a bland and dry brownie. All based on misinformation about gluten-free. There aren't any gluten-free breads. Having sandwiches as a salad is an option. The sandwich I get almost every time is called the White Widow and is filled with chicken, bacon and ranch, but they have everything you can think of. This place has great food but I will say if you alter your sandwich in any way it's pretty much 50-50 if they will get your order right. It's funny because it's literally typed in all red capital letters on their receipt tickets when you change something but still it's 50-50 chance.
