First time to eat lunch at Chavelos. The food was good and the service excellent. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the jalapeño bacon wrapped appetizers. We will definitely go back! Support local restaurants in Buda!!

Food was awesome! Service was amazing! Very clean and efficient place to dine! I've been here a few times while in Buda and every time I'm pleased with all I mentioned before!

Kind people and good service! The chips and salsa had a classic flavor, a little kick if you eat enough of the salsa, and cured the craving. The highlight was the flour tortillas that were warm, soft, and tasted fresh. I had the Machacada which was good. I wish the meat was cooked a little more to give it more of a crisp/crunch texture. The bean and potatoes also hit the spot. The food overall was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. Great little place to pop into if you're hungry in a pinch.

Fresh tortilla chips with salsa that's not too spicy. Drinks and food are fresh a be flavorful. Prices are great and service is fantastic. We stopped by to give this place a try. Glad we did! Great food and texmex options. We especially loved the tortilla soup, the shrimp soup, the chips and salsa, the bacon wrapped jalapeños, and the chicken enchiladas. Friendly staff with quick service.

Cozy interior with good service. They have a great location in downtown Buda which makes it really nice on a pleasant Fall day to enjoy the walking amenities of the downtown area. The chips and salsa are wonderful and interior has a cute little design with a wall mural. Western themed interior and great service. My favorite is the chili rellenos. Sometimes the food seems a little bit bland but that's because it's not over salted like most Mexican places.

The scene: two stark raving mad volleyball moms in search of mimosas during our daughters' two hour volleyball break ON A SUNDAY MORNING! Nothing, I mean nothing, is open These animals were rabid. The seriousness of the situation can not be underestimated. (enter Yelp, enter Chavelos.) Yes, I entered mimosas into my Yelp search, like the desperate woman at the end of my rope who had been up since 5am that I was. Returned options were Cracker Barrel, three places that were closed and Chavelos. We B lined straight here, no brakes, with flashers on, mimosa emergency. (Parts of this story may have been fabricated for effect) Small little house with about 15 tables so we opted for the gorgeous patio under the ginormous oak tree. Also mindful that we would not disturb the other patrons with our weekend revelry. Quick service and a tasty, spicy Bloody Mary. Add in yummy breakfast tacos and you have a solid joint off the main strip in Buda. Ravenous moms = satiated! You win Chavelos! Give this Sunday savior spot a try!

I've only ever had their breakfast tacos and horchata, but I love them both and keep going back. Great service every time.

Used to be our favorite place for huevos rancheros, but the last 2 times were average at best. A runny red mess with 5 small bites of meat.

It immediately made us uncomfortable and definitely affected the whole experience. We almost left, but since we were already there and didn't want to go somewhere else, we decided to stay and give it a chance. Unfortunately, after seeing that, it was hard to enjoy the food and the overall experience just wasn't good. Another thing that stood out is how dark and dim the restaurant is inside. It makes it hard to see much around you, which honestly made us wonder about the cleanliness after what we saw. We had been here multiple times before without noticing anything like this, so it was surprising and really disappointing this time.

Everything was pretty delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The Catfish Beignets were perfectly crispy with a hint of sweetness, but nothing super special about them, just tasted like fried catfish to me. The Diablo Chicken Pasta was nice and saucy, but like the catfish beignets, was a bit bland so I needed some salt to up the flavors. The shrimp ceviche was very refreshing, delicious, and a solid appetizer that was packed with flavor. The Chicken Waffles was good as well. The chorizo gravy sauce that came with it, was different, but complimented the whole dish very well. Overall, the portion was a bit smaller than I'd like for the price that I paid, but the food was overall pretty delicious. Our server Michael was fantastic. Super fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. A full bar, but didn't have Pina Coladas. Lots of tables and chairs to dine at. Clean restrooms and lots of parking. They have this huge fancy front door that threw me off a little lol.

Even then, i thought it was ok, especially for the price point. Stellar: First our server, Faith: she was super friendly, attentive and funny and made it a pleasant experience. Also, the shrimp tostada bites were killer - I could eat those all day. My wife's carajillo was perfect. OK: catfish beignets-the batter was well seasoned and crunchy, but it seemed like the actual fish needed seasoning as it was pretty bland. Grilled chicken sandwich was pretty bland too: the chicken was slightly dry and aside from the avocado, onion and tomato, there was not much flavor. Checked the buns to see if they were spread with an aoli but no, pretty dry. I thought Z Tejas was ok then and it's still ok and wouldn't be my first choice unless it's for happy hour where they have the shrimp tostadas on special.

Server asked if we knew what we wanted but since it was our first time we asked for the menu & ordered 3 drinks: Mexican bottled coke, jarritos (pineapple) and Sangria (soda non alcoholic) We ordered 18 mini tacos and 2 cheese quesadillas. Total was: $57 (cash ONLY) - Al pastor: 5/5 for taste, flavor, presentation and amount of meat to taco ratio. Only thing sadly missing was fresh pineapple for topping. - Suadero (fajita): 2/5 it was nicely packed but sadly missed the mark on flavor and it was very dry. - Cabeza: 2/5 the cut of meat was good but missing flavor. - Chorizo: 3/5 the flavor was good but not great. - Cheese quesadillas: 4/5 the cheese was quality cheese but didn't actually melt at all. Once the food came out (10min) we were given 2 types of salsas: green guacamole and red with chile de arbol. I was only able to add a few drops of the red salsa so beware. Overall we really enjoyed the food, service and mainly the al pastor tacos. We'd come here again if we're ever in Kyle.
