    Chips, salsa and queso
    Ruben C.

Nice family restaurant attached to a gas station While we decided what order, we got some chips and salsa. Both were pretty good. Salsa was just spicy enough to not burn your ass but keep you wanting more. Chips were fresh and crunchy. Ordered the mojarra frita (fried perch) and man, it was good. Served with crispy fires and salad. Done right. Wife got the sope which was huge and she enjoyed. First impression was great: clean, good service and good food. Want to go back and try the rest of their menu

Normally, I am impressed with the speedy service and kind hospitality that Chapala offers. However, I stopped in today for a quick carne con queso and guac for a snack and received this abomination. Mind you, this had a $5 price tag and was without carne. Highly disappointed.

    Machacado

Delicious food! The service was quick and the food was yummy. It is a casual place next to a gas station. I love the art on the chairs and tables! The machacado was flavorful and soft with a decent amount of meat. I would prefer larger pieces of meat but definitely satisfied my craving for machacado! The Asada taco was very good! The meat was salty and seasoned well and there was a good portion of onion and cilantro. The queso was thick and creamy but needed a bit more flavor. I loved how the corn tortillas on the mini tacos were lightly fried and the al pastor and campechano was very flavorful. The green salsa for the table was creamy, tasty, and lightly spicy.

Delicious fresh authentic Mexican food! It is tucked away connected to a gas station and definitely a must try. The salsa is spicy and the guacamole is the best I have had in a long time! 10/10 on flavor. Service was excellent as well. Quick place to eat at and will definitely be back!

Came in by chance. Was at the gas station and saw the cool looking chairs. Decided to come in for some Mexican food and was not disappointed. Quick friendly service. Great tacos and omelet. If I'm ever in the area I'll come back again.

I have to say this was some of the best shrimp and grits I've had. The portion was perfect, not too heavy on the grits and plenty of gravy, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked jumbo shrimp. As I looked over the menu, I realized that they have some amazing seafood choices and their raw oysters on the half shell are very high-quality for the area. Our service was wonderful. Our server was very attentive and offered coffee refills on the regular. The restaurant itself and bar are so well decorated. It's such a comfortable place. What makes it even better is they have a huge covered outdoor area for overflow or if you just want to sit outside. Everything about Taste on Main makes it one of my favorites in the area. I will definitely be back, I may become a regular.

Ambience was nice with the exception of one toddler on the other side making a little bit too much ruckus. Hopefully a one off. Our food arrived quickly enough. Major Yum yum points across the board for the crawfish dip (super delicious) loaded mashed potatoes (did I mention w Bacon) and the Steak carpaccio. Below par for the Chicken fried steak w potatoes, green beans (flavorless) and I don't know but I expected the Ceviche salmon to be..more. Not entirely a bad experience. I'd be willing to try other items on their menu next time round.

The Best Pad Thai ($18): Thai-style stir-fried rice noodles with egg, dried sweet radish, chili, garlic, crab meat, bean sprouts, and chives, topped with fried tempura shrimp, crispy shallots, tobiko, peanuts, and lime. I love pad thai, and this version delivered! The flavors were quite concentrated, so I recommend mixing the noodles thoroughly before eating. While the shrimp tempura was crunchy with a nice batter, I personally prefer the traditional proteins -- beef, chicken, pork, or tofu. BBQ Brisket Clay Pot ($19.50): A Thai-Chinese style clay pot featuring garlic, ginger, smoky brisket, onion, mushroom, Thai jasmine rice, green onion, sweet soy sauce, and chili garlic sauce. The combination didn't quite work for me and I wasn't a fan of the flavors, though my husband absolutely loved it. It's not as flavorful as the pad thai so we had to use the sauce they provided.

The dressing was on the side but for some reason the lettuce was still creamy. Not sure what happened there but it made the lettuce less crisp, which is why I like dressing on the side. The chicken chunks were fine as well. The mac and cheese my kiddo got was white instead of yellow cheese. Be warned if your kid is picky on mac and cheese color. The mac was on the bland end with not a great cheesy flavor to it. My kiddo did not eat half of it. She did like the broccoli after some salt was added. You can pick from any of their sides. The kids meal comes with a popsicle as well. The area the kids were playing at was marked as a dog area and is right at the edge of a slop to a steep roll to a culvert. There are low bushes marking that edge but watch your kids when they go out there. I might swing by again for a happy hour.

We walked in, told the person at the front our name and were seated quickly. The restaurant is nice. It includes a little market in one section with various food items that you can purchase. There is also a seating area with couches near the market section. The restaurant has different sized tables for seating. Not long after being seated we were greeted by a waiter that did an excellent job taking care of us the entire time we were there. He took our drink order, gave us menus and some time to decide what we wanted. After a few minutes he brought us our waters and took our order. We ordered several items. El Olivo which is a garlic bread. It was okay. The bread was good. It was nice and warm and the garlic flavor was all on top. Whipped Feta which comes with grilled Naan and cucumber slices. The Naan was okay. It was a little cold and needed to be warmed up a little more for my liking but my kids ate it up. The cucumbers were fresh and crisp and the whipped feta was pretty good. It had a slight lemon flavor but not enough to where you could taste the lemon with every bite. Pork belly chicharron which had pork with avacado covered in a sauce. It came with tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were thick and crispy. Perfect for scooping up some of the pork belly. The pork belly was delicious. The sauce that covered it added flavor and the avacado was fresh. The Lamb chops came with Lamb, carrots and a puree. The lamb itself was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and was tender with each bite. The carrots were slightly sweet and the puree was soft. It was a good mix of different textures with each bite. The Truffle mac and cheese was a macaroni and cheese with chives and truffle flavor. This was very tasty. The macaroni was tender, the chives were spread out and added that slight onion flavor. The cheese was very flavorful. One of my kids ate almost all of this. Barbacoa Doughnuts which are mini doughnuts filled with barbacoa topped with a salsa. I don't really like barbacoa but I tried them and was pleasantly surprised. These were delicious. It was basically a soft and warm mini doughnut filled with flavorful barbacoa. The sauce on it added a slight spicy flavor. Patatas Bravas are potatoes with salsa and a garlic aioli sauce. These were very tasty. That salsa and aioli sauce are what gave this dish all of its yummy flavor. The potatoes had a crispy exterior with a soft interior. All of the ingredients mixed together made a very good side dish. One of my sons ordered the Dos Olivos Burger with Tater Tots. He said that the burger was okay. I tried it and I agreed. The tater tots were good. He ate those up with some ketchup. My other son ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwiches with everything on the side. He substituted a salad instead of the fries. He ate the salad up. He also ate the Fried chicken from the sandwich. He said it was good. He is not a fan of sesame seed bread so he opted not to eat the bun. I tried the red cabbage apple slaw that it comes with and it was okay. Lastly I ordered the Beet Salad which comes with beets, pears, and candied pecans. I don't usually eat beets but I wanted to try it. It was very good. The beet chunks were large and soft but not overly soft. The pears and the candied pecans added a crispier texture and the mixture of all of the ingredients along with the sauce that was on it made this a super sweet beet salad. Almost like a dessert. It was delicious. Overall the restaurant is a cool spot to visit. The market is a neat addition that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
