Great chips and salsa. The chips had a great texture, a little different than what you would expect. This is a large restaurant with lots of seating. I got the chile relleno stuffed with chicken and cheese, very good. The tortillas are homemade, but they are small. Service was good just like the food. Everyone in my party enjoy their dishes. I would come back here again.

i always love coming here with my mom and dad, the food never disappoints the servers are always attentive and nice :)

Pork chop and eggs

Came in on Saturday for a family lunch, waited by the host stand for about 3-4 minute before my mom went off to find an employee to assist us with getting sat. Started with some chips and queso which we enjoyed, my mother noting who she enjoyed their chips. We ordered the sour cream enchiladas, chicken fajitas tacos, carne guisada plate, and pork chop and egg brunch plate. Overall, my carne guisada was okay, I've had more flavorful gravy in the past elsewhere and prefer Mexican rice with just more robust flavors, where it was all just pretty flat. My brother seemed to enjoy his enchilada and my mother spoke highly about her pork chop. I'd likely want to try other places before coming back however our server, (believe her name started with a V) was wonderful.

1/2 pint salsa????

Texican's tortilla sizes for their fajita tacos are now the size of street tacos. Two of these for $10.00....ridiculous, and they don't include salsa unless it's a meal so I had to pay almost $3 for a small salsa that is supposed to be 1/2 a pint. I hope it was just an off night but if not, I won't be back.

The Texican is solid for a quick lunch. We only had an hour so we stopped by and ordered two crunchy beef tacos and a bowl of tortilla soup. I couldn't believe how big the bowl was! Definitely had to take half of it to-go. Everything was good and service was attentive.

Great Texas-Mex spot in Kyle! Not the best Tex-Mex in Central Texas but definitely a great casual spot to check out for gatherings with friends and family. The price is of great value and the food is consistently good. The service was fast and friendly. One of our go to week day meal spots in Kyle. The fajitas for one is huge and we usually split it with two people but order extra tortillas.

Carne guisada plate

Found this driving around Kyle and wanted some carne guisada. My usual spot was closed early on a Sunday. This popped up. Came in. Seated promptly and ordered the carne guisada plate double rice no beans and a watermelon margarita. Came out with in min. Very good food. Small portions tho for what I paid. We'll visit again when friends

Upside down food container our tacos were in and the little bag of chips we paid for.

The food is always great but we had to pay for chips that wasn't even a full bag and our to go boxes were upside down. I really enjoy this food and environment but I am a little upset we paid for not even a half of bag of chips. Luckily we live close so the juices from the food didn't leak out onto my car floor board.

Do they have vegan options?

I would say they have some but you would have to ask which dishes can be prepared that way. They do have gluten free though.

As we walked in, we were greeted by who I assume is the owner and she let us know there was a free table next to her. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us chips and salsa shortly after being sat. The chips and salsa were excellent and I, as usual, ate too much. The salsa had a good spice and great flavor and the chips were very crunchy and crispy (like fritos but airier). I ordered a small menudo and chilaquiles with green salsa and both were really good. The menudo had a ton of flavor, good spices, and the stomach pieces were cooked perfectly; super tender and no, sometimes off putting, lingering offal smells. The chilaquiles were also great and the green salsa was mild and refreshing, with excellent side of potatos and beans. I could not finish my food as I thought the small menudo would be like a small cup not a whole bowl. I had also filled up on chips and salsa and our waitress refilled it so I had even more. All in all, this is an excellent little local spot for some bold flavors and fresh food. The menu is quite large and I'm curious to come back and have some other foods (like chicken fried steak).

The Catfish Beignets were perfectly crispy with a hint of sweetness, but nothing super special about them, just tasted like fried catfish to me. The Diablo Chicken Pasta was nice and saucy, but like the catfish beignets, was a bit bland so I needed some salt to up the flavors. The shrimp ceviche was very refreshing, delicious, and a solid appetizer that was packed with flavor. The Chicken Waffles was good as well. The chorizo gravy sauce that came with it, was different, but complimented the whole dish very well. Overall, the portion was a bit smaller than I'd like for the price that I paid, but the food was overall pretty delicious. Our server Michael was fantastic. Super fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. A full bar, but didn't have Pina Coladas. Lots of tables and chairs to dine at. Clean restrooms and lots of parking. Even then, i thought it was ok, especially for the price point. Stellar: First our server, Faith: she was super friendly, attentive and funny and made it a pleasant experience. Also, the shrimp tostada bites were killer - I could eat those all day. My wife's carajillo was perfect. OK: catfish beignets-the batter was well seasoned and crunchy, but it seemed like the actual fish needed seasoning as it was pretty bland. Grilled chicken sandwich was pretty bland too: the chicken was slightly dry and aside from the avocado, onion and tomato, there was not much flavor. Checked the buns to see if they were spread with an aoli but no, pretty dry. I thought Z Tejas was ok then and it's still ok and wouldn't be my first choice unless it's for happy hour where they have the shrimp tostadas on special.

Well my aunt (who is almost 70) didn't see on the menu it said charro beans was an up charge, refried beans came free. So when she got her bill she was surprised to see she was charged extra for the beans. Mind you the refried beans DID come with her tacos. Why did the waitress not ask "do you want the refried that comes with it or charro for an up charge?" Instead, the waitress automatically gave her charro beans. You don't automatically give someone the upgraded version to their meal and especially not without asking which kind of beans does she want. I'm writing this update bc in my last review the waitress did the same thing by up charging my husband's meal when he didn't ask to. BEWARE here! The food is pretty decent, nothing crazy but it hits the spot if you need some decent Mexican food. However, go over your bill and clarify everything-twice! Just in case because they will try to make extra money off upgrading you without asking you.

Total was: $57 (cash ONLY) - Al pastor: 5/5 for taste, flavor, presentation and amount of meat to taco ratio. Only thing sadly missing was fresh pineapple for topping. - Suadero (fajita): 2/5 it was nicely packed but sadly missed the mark on flavor and it was very dry. - Cabeza: 2/5 the cut of meat was good but missing flavor. - Chorizo: 3/5 the flavor was good but not great. - Cheese quesadillas: 4/5 the cheese was quality cheese but didn't actually melt at all. Once the food came out (10min) we were given 2 types of salsas: green guacamole and red with chile de arbol. I was only able to add a few drops of the red salsa so beware. We were already seated at our table with my mother and children when the situation occurred. My special needs child had a caramel frappé from McDonald's, which is her preferred drink and one of the only things she consumes, as she does not eat by mouth. Our server had already greeted us and taken our drink orders without raising any concerns. Shortly after, another employee approached us and stated that outside drinks were not allowed. I calmly explained my child's medical needs and that the rest of us were planning to order food. Despite this, the employee brought over a manager, who repeated the policy without any willingness to listen or show understanding. We were then told we could not stay and were effectively asked to leave. While I understand that businesses have policies, the complete lack of compassion, flexibility, and basic customer care in this situation was unacceptable. This was not a case of bringing in outside food for convenience--this was about accommodating a child with special needs while the rest of the family intended to dine and pay as customers. Being asked to leave under these circumstances was both embarrassing and upsetting. Based on this experience, I will not be returning. I hope management seriously reflects on how situations like this are handled in the future, because no family should be treated this way. I'm pretty sure they won't reflect on this situation seeing as how the manager was all too happy about kicking us out, he literally showed absolutely no compassion or care at all.
